We already have defined roles with spot flares, and god forbid, team communication. This is senseless handholding, and I believe a slippery slope into making the game a dorito fest like BF4.

MMGs will now be completely useless. Oh you're laying in a bush waiting for a group to run by (because the guns shoot BBs a face to face engagement even with an MG42 would be certain death). They don't see you, but WAIT, one of them was kinda looking your direction and the game gave them a giant red "shoot here" indicator. Boom, time wasted and the enemy advances.

I don't know if you guys at DICE don't play your own game, or maybe you do and you're all just really bad at it, but whatever it is, you've gotta stop.

I'd love to see all the people asking for this. Because as far as I can tell, they don't exist.

Update 5.2 will bring red Icons above enemy heads when closer than 15 meters and locking at them.

Behavior of the feature is that if you're inside 28M and the enemy is fully visible, a local only red symbol will appear on the players head whilst you have your gun pointing at them.

If you move to within 15M, this icon will similarly display against any player that is within your field of vision. Enemies who are inside 15M but not visible to you will not be affected by this.

The system is separate from Spotting, its local to you, and not shared with your team or squad.

You can see an example of it here -

Edit: Corrected the ranges

This reminds me of a reddit conversation I was involved in roughly 1 month ago.

Thought I give it a share to show the other side of the medal. Hope we can all just give it a try and then see how we feel about it. I remember the soldier rim lighting being controversial as well, but we all can see how the feedback about bad visibility has been reduced since. I understand that not everyone has the same opinion on the topic, but I feel like the majority of the player base has benefitted for the last change. So let's give it a fair try and then talk about, what do you think?

This still seems like little more than a band aid for the core visibility issues that haven’t been properly addressed since launch.

As in the linked thread, I open for any kinds of suggestions. Note thought that I have no control over the Player Acquisition Marker.

I spend most of my daily work with world building and I personally see the majority of the visual issues coming from increased visual fidelity and more realistic lighting. Especially within our worlds. When you add more to the world and at the same time make character looks more detailed you automatically make the picture harder to read. I think it's a natural problem that comes with better technology and as you might have heard lately, other games that upgraded their visuals come with similar issues or challenges.

One way of solving it is by adding explanation into the world fantasy. A great example of this is the Division 2 which allows to render nights pitch black and yet allow for good gameplay since all enemies have lights of "future tech" on them. It's very fitting with the game fantasy and combines elegantly with gameplay.
Being a WW2 game, our possibilities are limited. At the same time we are trying to be an incredible approachable game. So while I understand that good camo if part of the harsh military fantasy we first and foremost trying to make a fun and engaging game.

Again though, I am open to all kinds of suggestions, ideas or learnings. Some might not be applicable in this game, but with increasing more powerful technologies ahead, this problem won't go away and will be a focus point in order to ensure good gameplay.

Does ‘fully visible’ mean behind hard or soft cover?

If you're hiding behind a bush, a wall, or in smoke (relative to the player) - the indicators won't activate
