That sounds like an overheating problem. Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

IF that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)

If you bought it from our store, Xsolla handle all refunds:
All you need to do is go to their helpdesk (https://babka.com/), create an account with the same email that made the purchase and once you're logged in...

I'm not sure what nature of further update you were hoping for ... ?

The situation is still that this game in no longer supported on the standalone Paradox launcher platform (and I'm sure will never be). Having bought the game from our store you have full access to it on Steam.

Moddability is identical on the PDX and Steam platforms, so again I'm not sure what you are referring to there.

I'm not across the known bugs in the console edition I'm afraid. Can you see this posted in Bug Reports here?

My CK3 will not load. I have reinstalled and verified multiple times.
It gets to the first loading screen and crashes everytime.
Please start your own thread, with full system details and problem history, thanks.

If you can run ck3.exe but the launcher can't, that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

ck3.exe (in the Steam CK3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam CK3-launcher folder)
C:/users/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2023.1.1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT ck3.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

To see that folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer - is it there now?

If not can you make it manually?

This is still a current problem I'm afraid:

Mods enabled, yet not working after 1.6.0 update.

After I updated to the new 1.6.0 update, my mods stopped working for some reason. I tried disabling and re-enabling my mods, unsubb... Read more

I don't know then. Is there any way you can swap your monitor, video card, or both into another machine to see if the problem follows them?

Or vice versa, swap ok ones from elsewhere into this machine?

As you can see in that error log, the problem is with DirectX11, the video driver or video card.

First check with Dell/Alienware for an update to that 2016 Intel 4600 video driver, failing that Intel themselves https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

Then update to the new nvidia driver that just came out yesterday ... Read more

Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Vic3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Vic3 or Documents Vic3 locations, before installing again.

It actually shouldn't matter which drive the Windows paging file is on, it's all one pool from Windows' perspective ... maybe it just wasn't big enough overall?

Yes, I'm sure that's what they mean. Was this new drive for C: or some other disk?

Right click on Documents in the left column of File Explorer, just under This PC there. Go to properties, location. What does it say in there?

I see. Please check the Bug Reports forum to see if it's a known issue, ; if you don't see a thread on it there please make one.

Sorry for that problem!

I'm not aware of this as a known bug, but I'm not really on top of the console edition of the game I'm afraid.

If you start a new test campaign does that save okay? If not you may be out of room on that PS5.
