In File Explorer go to where Steam is installed, typically c:\program files (x86)\Steam. From there go into SteamApps and Common. If the CK3 folder is still there after the uninstall, delete it.

Then click on Documents in the left column. In the right pane go into Paradox Interactive, CK3. Delete everything in it except the save games folder.

That is held in launcher-settings.json in the Steam/CK3/launcher folder.

Are you BOTH on Xbox or PS4/5? Because we've seen some other such reports recently.

Or some other edition of the game?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If those don't help:

I'm pretty sure your issue is your Intel(R) UHD Graphics video system, which is WELL below the minimum requirements:

Graphics: Nvidia® GeForce™ GTX 660 (2GB) / AMD® Radeon™ HD 7870 (2GB) / Intel® Iris Pro™ 580 / Intel® Iris® Plus G7 / AMD® Radeon™ Vega 11

To get past that you could try editing that pdx_settings.txt and replace DX11 with OpenGL in the Renderer paragraph. That will be slower but is less demanding on the video system.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to play the game on a machine with supported hardware I'm afraid, or use GFN or any similar service.

Sorry for the bad news!

Ah, is your issue with cloud saves how to move a local save into the cloud? That I'm not sure about with this game, TBH. Having placed the save under that /remote/ folder, I would have thought Steam would sync it up to the cloud next time you exited the game. Does the game show in Steam as the cloud synced okay? Does it show here?

That's what it says on the error message.
Well, not exactly. It says "perhaps the mod size is too big ..." but not that the maximum permissible size has been reduced.

Perhaps, but no one from Paradox staff will see this post, most likely. I would have thought the experienced modders would know of any such limit already?

But if larger mods a had previously been uploaded, it doesn't seem likely that is th eproblem. Unless you are suspecting any such limit has been reduced recently, something like that?

Perhaps someone could trick up a mod the same size as yours and upload it and see if it has the same problem.

I moved your previous identical post to User Mods because I have no knowledge of mods or uploading them. The idea was that other modders would confirm or deny they see this problem too; IOW is it an issue for just you, just this mod, or everyone?

I don't know why you are getting that error in moving your set Documents location. You may need qualified Windows support help with that.

What is your issue with saving to cloud instead of locally? It should just be a case of ticking that box in the game's settings.

Please try deleting the entire contents (ONLY!) of that c:\Windows\Installer\ folder , they are all temporary files so no loss. To see it you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

If it's not there though, probably you or malware have deleted it; try making it manually yourself.

Good luck!

Well, the easiest way is to use Steam Cloud saves instead.

Next easiest is to redirect your whole Windows user Documents folder to another drive; In the left column of File Explorer right click on Documents, just under This PC there. Go to Properties, Location.

If those aren't suitable for you it can be done by editing and making text files; that's a fiddly process and may need to be redone when there's a game or launcher update. But let me know and I'll lay out that process too.

If the save crashes reliably AND was started under the 1.8 patch, it's very likely a game bug. Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the save file there for QA to look into.

Moving your save files using File Explorer does not somehow alert the launcher or game that you've done that! They will continue to look in the default place , which is usually Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games . That Documents folder is pointed to by a variable in Windows.

What if you stick your save games in your Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games folder? I understand you moved your installation to a new SSD but your Documents folder should still be on your C drive and have this folder.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

You should have got emails explaining how to get the crown, did you not?

Basically it is in the barber shop, from what I understand.

If not, unsubscribe then subscribe again.

LOcto said: UPDATE: I found the CK3 folder, but the log files are nowhere to be found. I could find just the Save_game_analyzer.gui file and the log_viewer.gui file.
That's probably the Steam-CK3 folder, rather than where the game writes its documents.

The binary and DLC folder by default are in ~/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader\ Kings\ III/

The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are I think in .local/share/Paradox\ Interactive/Crusader\ Kings\ III/ .

Then this is not a known problem, based on the details you've provided so far. But of course the Linux user base is tiny, and the non-Ubuntu user base even smaller!

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.
