Being on the same Lan makes no difference, all MP play goes via the Nakama servers.

CK2 however uses Steam MP servers.

I see you have EU4, which can use eitherMP service at your option at startup time - do you find it is slow with the Nakama option but fast with the Steam option?

Looking at that log I'm pretty sure you are seeing a game bug, although not apparently a very widely spread one. Rather odd I have to say.

So I'll direct you to the Bug Reports forum now:

When it happens can you load that same save and carry on? Or does it crash at the same point on reload?

I'm not sure why that would be. What exactly happened please?

No real clues in there.

Is this crash on starting the game, or on loading a particular save, or on starting a new campaign?

If you are still opted into the beta patch, opt out so you get 1.7.1 .

If that still crashes on load, let's have new copies of all those files in your OP please.

Plus install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

I am sorry then, I cannot see what is wrong in Windows here to cause this to you!

I'm sure a clean wipe and reinstall of Windows would fix it - a lot to contemplate to get a game going, I know!

There have been performance issues with large empires since the game was released, IME. Perhaps it is a little worse, or rather starts a little earlier, with this patch and the extra features and DLCs.

You could try deleting the Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders (except any valued saved games.

Then Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Then unload GeForce Experience if running.

Is that any better?

Lots of errors in that log, I'm not sure if they are cosmetic or not. Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
- Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.
- start the game with no mods act... Read more

Weird how some of their drivers are still old then!

*shrug*

Still lots of "In Progress" Windows updates there I see.

If you make a new user in Windows and log into it with that, does this problem still happen?

If so, go into the startup apps menu and disable everything you can, and reboot - still a problem?

Is this all happening in one particular save from before 1.7, if I read your wall-o-text :D correctly?

If so the new patch 1.7.1 is supposed to fix that, did it help at all?

Can you start a new test campaign now okay?

Please opt out of that so you get on the new 1.7.0.1 patch, that has other crash fixes in it.

Does that help?

Heya y'all!

First of all, for those that don't know me, Hi! My name is Riad, and I am the current QA Lead for Crusader Kings III, working together with my amazing team during the post-release period to make sure each of your issues are raised to the developers and (hopefully soon) alleviated.

I want to mention how amazing it's been to see all of you play through the latest update and give your feedback (both positive and negative) on your experiences. Of course, I also want to raise an extra special thanks to all of you helping out our development team by reporting and highlighting any issues you have found in the game so far.

Now with that said, we are currently investigating a particular issue that has been highlighted by all of you, which are the mysteriously missing faces that keep popping up in different courts around the world. We've been hard at work investigating this issue since the releas... Read more

Thank you for the robust bug reports, and thank you especially for attaching your saves and log files!

In order to help us track this issue down faster, would any of you be able to share your hardware specifications?

Now you mention it, I have seen previous reports of this happening only when a very large empire is created, covering say 1/4 or more of the map. Especially if a large revolt or war breaks out. Does that sound like your situation?

If so, I previously asked the affected users to make posts in Bug Reports on the issue. Please see if you can find those and add your configuration data and save game to taht thread, or make your own new thread there if you wish.

Still getting the c0000374 Windows error against ck3.exe in that dxdiag. That would normally be a bug in the relevant app, except it cannot be here or everyone would get it. There must be some other component in your Windows installation causing that.

As you can see in that Speccy output there are several failed or ""in progress" Windows updates going back to July last year. If you run the Update utility manually does it find anything to do? If apply that and reboot.

Then run this repair tool:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupt...

Can you use GeForce Experience, fraps, or some other utility to limit the game to 60 fps?
