I will raise it with my manager in Paradox tonight, especially as AFAICS there is no mention of it in the release notes.

Aside from that perhaps the Community Manager @PDX_Pariah would be the best starting point.

Ginklord said: I was able to pull my saved game from Windows and bring it over to Steam, using the Beta feature to load version 1.6.1.2. I can see the saved game and load it, but I get this error. Any idea if this could work? What else can I try?
I would have thought that would work, unless you've already loaded that save under 1.7 and saved it there - is that possible? FYI in Ironman that is a forced situation, as it does an automatic save at load time. But if non-Ironman you need to do this with the latest save that has NOT been made by 1.7

I'm sorry to have to tell you that CK3 will no longer be updated on the standalone launcher. This is apparently a decision of the developers.

Please use the Steam client from now on.

What happens if you run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer? Any error show then?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Opt out of all betas to get onto the latest patch 1.7 . What happens when you run that from Steam?

If it fails then run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer - what happens? Any error shown?

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close CK3
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up CK3 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters

  1. Go to Windows Control panel.
  2. Click on Network & Internet.
  3. Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
  4. Click on Change adapter options.
  5. Right-click all network adap...

Unusually they did not explicitly say this in the 1.7 release notes, but it is virtually universal that major patches break save game compatibility, due to the large changes necessary to support new free and paid features. Steam and GoG users need to revert to 1.6.1.2 to continue existing saves.

Unfortunately other platforms like Epic and the MS store/gamepass do not provide any facility for us to distribute old or alternate game versions, so that workaround is not possible - you must start a new campaign.

Sorry for the inconvenience! I'll raise the lack of notification with Paradox now.

You need to start a new campaign under 1.7 as it is not save game compatible. If this is happening with existing saves, you need to revert to 1.6.1.2 in the Steam Betas tab to continue them.

To continue old saves you must revert to the game version they were last played with, presumably 1.6.1.2 , in. the Steam Betas tab for this game.

This may be a bug in the launcher, which seems to require MacOS 12 now. Were you at all thinking of updating MacOS? If so please do that and confirm for me that it helps, then I can report that to the developers.

We don't provide remote support I'm afraid. Just here and in ZenDesk tickets.

If local, save games are in Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/save games/ folder. If cloud saves you don't need to do anything.

For the launcher issue Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users//AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam
OR
- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from... Read more

You could try uninstalling the game on the problem machine, then deleting the Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders on it,then installing again.

If that doesn't help, I'm pretty sure the problem is in the Gamepass/Xbox infrastructure on that machine somewhere, but how to identify and fix that is beyond me I'm afraid. I'm sure a clean Windows reinstall would fix it, but that's a lot to contemplate to fix this issue, I know!

It's not actually deleted, the creator has changed the visibility to hidden, that's why it keeps getting installed. You'll need to manually delete it in your subscribed mods and whilst I think you're pretty well versed in how to do that I've included a link: https://www.wikihow.com/Delete-Steam-Workshop-Mods

P4CH said: Other Gamepass games (that I played) have no problem with DLC, only CK3, so it is not Ck3 or Pdx Launcher (don't see all installed DLC) problem?
If it were a bug in the game or launcher, you'd get it in both Windows machines, would you not? But as I understand it you get it on one machine and not the other - do I have that right?

I was talking about the Windows accounts (logins), not the MS accounts. If under one Windows user you get access to all the DLCs, but under another you do not, there's clearly a problem with that second one - not the game or launcher.

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users//AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Very clearly a video/graphics issue from that log. Can you confirm those settings from post #2 above are still all in effect?

If so, not try editing that pdx_settings.txt . Find the Renderer line and replace DX11 with OpenGL - does the game at least start then? It may be slow.
