I have followed very closely the discussions that the devs have done here in reddit and I'm very pleased to see a very detailed level of communication to the community. The new dauntless experience seems ok to me and I thing some problems like no private hunting ground can be solved in a single patch if things get out of control.

What puzzles me is upgrade cost of slayer path.

Right now the total upgrade cost will be like 14 mil rams. Even if the economy changes I hope this won't be a limiting factor on upgrades. Moreover the new currency of silver plaques that have been added scares me. It seems that the only way to obtain it is bounties and each bounty gives a different type of plaque (armor, potion, glider etc...). In experimental I saw that we need like 960 for one single upgrade and a bounty gives 10. Do we would need like to complete 96 bounties (we get 2x day so that means 48 days of well placed bounties) ...

But that is not all, now comes the real scary stuff about this issue. Bounties can be bought with money and so people who pay a lot will fairly quickly get those plaques since the problem is obtaining bounty tokens and not completing bounties. This is a huge advantage to whales and competing in trials will become harder since it won't be about skill anymore or at least until we all had the chance to farm a lot in the upcoming months.

Also the new keys can be bought. I hope p2w players won't get a huge advantage on that.

What I mean is: it's OK for a game to reward people for paying but this seems like a highway to slayer path maxed. And f2p or like dolphins will need months to accumulate all the plaques/rams needed to max slayer path and compete in trials. At this point the old system that rewarded skill and a little bit of farming was better.

Please tell that I am wrong and this update will be awesome.

Ps. The upgrade I am talking about was probably one additional island so also content will be blocked.

Hey everyone,

First off, these numbers are early. We'll be looking at the data after a few playtests to help fine-tune them, but they will most likely be high. Because of this, we'll be increasing the earn rate for these items. Since this increase isn't in experimental yet, it feels a lot more intimidating.

Our goal is that all progression will be grindable no matter what. Sure, you will get daily bonuses (bounty tokens, patrol chests) to help with this every day, but there is no gate that stops you after you're done taking advantage of these. We don't ever want players to hit a wall and stop progressing and we're making sure every objective has a f2p path. Our premium options will be there for players who want to do more in a day, but it won't be mandatory. Ever.

Just to reiterate: there will not be a gate on your progression. You will not need to log out and come back the next day. You will always be making progress.

What's the numbers looking like for progress? if someone's constantly spending $, will they be progressing 2x as fast as f2p? 3x? 4x? if there's an uncapped upper limit, it quickly goes from "the devs obviously need to eat and this is a f2p game", to "the devs are building a predatory system that isn't a lootbox but is still predatory".

There's a HUGE difference between "The player pays some money to progress twice as fast for a set number of hours", and "the player pays some money to get additional quests/the capability to open more chests, and then once they finish those quests/open the chests they pay more money to do MORE quests/chests until they're either at max lvl, or deeply in debt.

Unlocking a boost for a finite amount of time is safe. Unlocking a 1 time boost by paying $, then unlocking another 1 time boost by paying $ and so on and suchforth is just cruelly monetizing addiction for your own purposes.

If you're spending, you still need to play the game to progress, so there is a limit no matter how much you decide to spend. I don't know the specifics, but players won't be able to turbo boost to oblivion and back with their wallets :)
