Oh hi there, this is my mechanic design, I'm also the one who sneaky showed this bar, so let me answer some of your concerns!

-Managing the Bar: It is managed by achieving the goals of your Avatar, chosen at the start of the run, by engaging with the braziers placed throughout the map, by engaging with the Boon Mechanics, and by using consumables. Engaging in all of these is not necessary to succeed (Unless you've taken some of the Talents that make Frostbite far more brutal), but engaging in at least some of them will be.

-Soloing: Soloing is inherently harder than playing with a team, because you will have access to only one Avatar, which cuts down the number of ways you can engage with your bar and means you cannot be rescued if you're frozen. But you'll still have access to Boons, Talent Mitigation, Braziers, and Consumables. I have ensured at all points that while Frostbite is balanced for a team, it can be soloed by Slayers of sufficient skill. While you won't have the other Slayers Avatars, coming in with a strong build that is good at achieving the objectives of your chosen Avatar will go a long long way.

-Hot Drinks: I love me some Monster Hunter, that said while we aren't making something exactly like that, we will be introducing a new Pylon, that reduces frostbite for nearby players and keeps them warm while within its radius. It might also have a few other tricks that make it good for more than just Frost Escalation...

-Avatars: Avatars are chosen at the start of the run, before jumping into the Escalation proper. They will not take up one of your Amp Slots, they are an additional decision you make above and beyond Amps in your run (though they will influence some of what appears in your amp pools.)

That's a lot of info, but I saw a lot of worry in this thread and I wanted to lay down some of it. I can't build something that's perfect for every Slayer, but I hope this does ease some of those concerns. Ultimately, I hope you bring your feedback here again once you've had a chance to experiment with the mechanic itself, there is always opportunity for further tuning in the future.

Happy Slaying!
