1346s season 4 is going to be the biggest up
1349s date we have ever made to Diablo I since
1352s it is launched our focus on season 4 is
1355s to really make a lot of Evergreen
1357s updates to the core systems of Diablo I
1359s in season 4 We're ramping the intensity
1362s across the seasonal and eternal Realms
1364s through a collection of new activities
1366s aimed at ensuring the momentto moment
1368s gameplay experience is as exciting and
1370s rewarding when how comes to
1375s Sanctuary season 4 item changes are some
1378s of the biggest changes we've made to
1379s Diablo 4 thus far we've never done
1381s anything like this we are fundamentally
1383s changing how you engage with items how
1385s you upgrade them and along the way
1388s solving a lot of things that we've seen
1390s continually from our community we agree
1392s with are pain points of our existing
1394s item system right now so in this new
1396s itemization system we're focusing on
1398s narrowing down the scope of the base
1400s affixes they're going to be a lot
1402s simpler they're going to be fewer in
1403s number so you can much more easily parse
1405s whether this item is useful for you and
1407s if it is then you can take it and
1409s further upgrade it and customize it to
1410s your own specific
1414s build tempering is a new system that
1417s allows you to really customize the gear
1419s that you find in order to temper you
1422s will need to go to the blacksmith and
1423s then choose the recipe that you wish to
1425s temper from and then a random AIX from
1427s that recipe will be attached onto your
1430s gear tempering recipes can be found from
1432s almost all of the content throughout
1433s sanctuaries so you will actually be
1435s looking for tempering recipes that go
1437s directly with what you're envisioning
1439s maybe you're thinking I'm going to play
1441s a frost sorceress there are also going
1443s to be recipes that are more generic and
1445s maybe are just generally good for the
1446s Sorceress but you'll be able to choose
1448s which one you think is going to be most
1450s powerful with the build you're making
1452s for your
1455s class we're making a pretty radical
1458s change to the Codex of power in this
1460s season based again on the feedback that
1463s has been coming from our players now
1465s every single legendary in the game will
1467s be entered into your codex of power so
1469s that you can continually imprint the
1470s best possible version of that legendary
1473s onto your gear so going forward there
1475s will no longer be carrying around all of
1477s these aspect crystals in your inventory
1479s it's all going to be in the Codex of
1482s [Music]
1485s power so part of the final system that
1488s we have is going to be greater AIX is
1491s what's a greater AIX well we want to
1492s keep it compelling that there are some
1494s drops that are even better than the
1496s others when you're trying to get the
1497s perfect build at endgame because of this
1501s in World tier 4 and only in World tier 4
1503s when an ancestral legendary item drops
1506s there's a chance the affixes on it can
1508s roll as greater affixes these will roll
1511s with bigger values that are normally
1512s available for that AIX greater affixes
1515s are fairly rare but they're not
1518s impossible to find while leveling up
1520s you're going to be able to find upgrades
1521s much more easily with this new
1525s system another part of itemization is
1527s going to be Masterwork now this is
1529s something really intended for that very
1531s highend game again World tier 4 this is
1534s where a player is going to take an item
1537s already has the affixes that they want
1538s on it but now they go through a process
1541s of upgrading those axes getting even
1543s higher values on them masterworking
1545s really starts at level 100 once you've
1548s already completed your build and found
1549s some of the best items you're going to
1551s be able to test your build against the
1553s powerful enemies of the pit

1559s the pit is a new endgame system that has
1561s been added in this season that is going
1564s to challenge players that feel that they
1566s have largely maximize their build by
1568s pushing into more difficult tiers of the
1571s pit you're going to be able to unlock
1573s rarer crafting materials to Masterwork
1575s your gear even further you're going to
1577s have to play some of the hardest content
1579s in the game but once you do if you're
1582s successful you can go and make those
1584s aices even stronger
1590s in season 4 We're ramping the intensity
1593s of the hell Tides through the inclusion
1594s of a variety of new activities the first
1597s of which is a doubling down and Rise of
1599s the cultists presence throughout the
1601s tide you're going to be running through
1603s the hell tide seeing the cultist just
1605s Conjuring up swarms and swarms of demons
1607s adding to that sense of mannequin chaos
1610s that you know they're pretty well known
1611s for the other archetype that we're
1613s adding is the presence of the doomsayers
1616s who were unfortunate enough to be caught
1618s out in the time and basically just lost
1620s their minds to all of the Mania going on
1623s around
1625s them and lastly rounding out the new
1627s activities are just the inclusion of the
1629s iron wolves they're finally joining the
1631s fight they could no longer stand in the
1633s sidelines seeing the hell tides and
1635s hell's forces intensify their assault on
1638s sanctuary as season 4 players engage and
1642s progress through the call The Wolves
1643s seasonal activity they'll earn honor
1646s with the iron wolves unlocking access to
1648s vast assortment of rewards to accompany
1651s and Empower your season 4
1654s Journeys in the updated heal TI for
1657s players who are able to stay alive long
1659s enough they'll be paid a visit by the
1660s hellborn former Heroes of sanctuary who
1663s have aligned with the forces of Hell to
1666s attack the Allies they once aligned with
1668s players who are able to take down the
1670s hellborne will be acquiring the
1672s materials they need to engage with the
1674s new premier hell tight activity the
1677s accursed rituals located in the hell
1679s tide these accursed rituals are pretty
1682s much just a botched rituals from the
1684s cultist that players will be
1686s kickstarting for themselves drawing the
1688s attention of all the nearby htide
1690s monsters in this kind of allout
1692s battle one of my favorite themes for
1695s these ambushes is the hell worm it's
1697s literally a giant hell slug Beast that
1700s emerges from the ground and spews out a
1702s whole bunch of mobs at you if you're
1704s able to survive that you'll be paid a
1706s visit from the blood Maiden our brand
1708s new new hell tide mini boss and one of
1710s the ultimate challenges in the new
1712s [Music]
1713s experience so I think I'm actually most
1716s excited about this season because of
1717s what you're able to do with your old
1720s characters how they can integrate with
1722s this new item game and take them to new
1725s levels of Power with this system I think
1727s that the best part of this update is
1728s that you're going to be really empowered
1730s to build the character that you want to
1732s play you're going to be able to pick
1733s custom affixes and enhance your
1735s character in a lot of new and
1737s interesting ways

1761s person is uh tuning in patching in I I
1766s don't know what phoning in I don't know
1767s from from Albany blizzard Albany and

1777s tangue and I'm uh one of the lead
1778s Seasons designers for Diablo I and yeah
1781s we've got a lot of exciting stuff to
1782s share with you awesome great to hear
1785s from Dan Dan is kind of like melting in
1788s Albany I believe it's very very warm up
1791s there it's actually warmer there than
1793s California which is kind of crazy uh but
1796s uh look at this Adam and and Adam oo I
1800s love it did Jo yeah no more Joe's where
1803s where's Joe pipor not here he's actually
1806s on vacation so that's the that's the
1808s reason why he's not here but we have a
1810s lot to talk about today we are actually
1811s going to be talking about uh season 5 in
1814s the PTR um and we do want to like you
1817s know there's been a lot going on with
1818s Diablo 4 over the last couple months
1820s obviously season 4 has launched uh we
1822s had our mid-season update uh last week
1824s we we introduced pets uh which is really
1828s cool
1829s just no one expected it but we we did
1831s introduce pets within season 4 um and at
1833s the same time we also had our release
1836s date announcement for vessel of hatred
1838s which is October 8th so lots and lots
1841s and lots of cool stuff that's going on
1843s with Diablo 4 and we have more to share
1845s today but uh of course with PTR we do
1848s need to talk like a little bit of the
1850s housekeeping stuff to make sure that
1852s players are aware of it and and when
1854s it's going to start um currently uh we
1857s have uh season 5 PTR actually starting
1860s next Tuesday and that is on the 25th it
1862s will run for one week similar to the
1864s season 4 PTR it is PC battl net only
1867s again uh it is just easier for us to be
1870s able to get builds up and get things out
1871s and get feedback in really quickly uh
1874s when we have it on uh PC battl net so uh
1877s that will be going live next Tuesday
1879s everything that we're talking about
1881s today uh will be in a blog that will go
1883s live after the stream as well as uh
1886s patch notes will be going live live
1888s after the stream and they're pretty
1890s pretty beefy in in themselves or
1893s in I don't know it's Friday you guys
1896s it's so we we haven't done a Friday
1898s stream in I don't know it's been a while
1901s it's been a a long while uh for for
1904s feedback though uh we will be opening up
1906s our PTR Forums on uh uh for players to
1908s actually be able to submit feedback so
1911s uh the Diablo 4 forums will have a
1912s special section for PTR and then
1914s separately uh if you do want to leave
1917s feedback on other Avenue such as like
1919s Reddit or um the community Sanctuary
1921s Discord places like that we most
1923s definitely end up like coming through
1925s all the different various uh uh ways of
1928s players being able to provide feedback
1930s uh specifically from that end um for
1932s this PTR we will note that um this one
1935s will be a little different than season 4
1937s in regards to how you can start off
1939s characters there will still be character
1940s boosts like what we had with uh the
1942s season 4 PTR I believe it's actually
1944s moved to a different city uh I can't
1948s call I I think we had it in kovos Shad
1950s before and I believe it's in a different
1952s city and I don't
1955s recall which city it is it's in the blog
1958s though um but uh all that information
1961s will be there after the stream
1963s separately uh we did incorporate a
1966s character copy feature but we initiated
1969s this character copy already no one knows
1971s this but as of yesterday characters were
1974s copied from your accounts over to PTR so
1977s um it gives gives you a little bit of
1979s variety of being able to take over some
1980s of those characters that you've already
1981s built out uh or you know if you want to
1985s you can still use the character boost I
1987s will note uh we do want players to be
1990s experiencing in in like a variety of
1992s ways like whether using your other Char
1994s your your current characters that we're
1995s copying over or if you're using some of
1997s the character boosts we do recommend um
1999s or if you want to level up level one
2001s like that's that's a another option as
2004s well it allows us to get feedback from
2005s all different aspects so we do recommend
2008s uh you know trying it out in different
2010s ways and providing feedback of like how
2012s things feel how things uh flow within um
2015s the PTR itself so that is all kind of
2019s like the general housekeeping notes that
2020s we do have oh and I will say that I
2022s believe we actually did we did correct
2024s that codex of power reset thing as well
2027s so yeah I remember that was that was uh
2030s uh plaguing some people uh last season
2033s we did correct that so it won't reset I
2035s believe every single time you end up
2036s like creating a new character boosting a
2039s and then separately on the fors we will
2041s have a known issues list you know it's
2044s PTR it's anly build uh so we want to
2047s make sure that people are aware of that
2048s and with PTR um you know when we take in
2052s feedback it's great for for players to
2054s be able to like provide all various
2055s forms of feedback I will say by the time
2058s uh season 5 launches uh we will try our
2061s best to get as much of that feedback in
2063s uh if it's something that's like a
2065s massive like oh like a huge overhaul or
2068s something like that I wouldn't expect it
2070s in season 5 but it is good to hear that
2072s feedback because it might be something
2073s that we end up incorporating uh maybe in
2076s the future uh for like a future season
2078s from that end um yeah it's very useful
2081s so toally helps us drive future
2082s decisions and even we did a lot of
2084s reaction to PTR feedback in season 4 if
2087s I remember right we did like a whole lot
2088s on our team at least and I expect the
2090s same for season five so exactly send it
2092s in it's very useful and then one last
2095s thing I do want to note is because
2096s players have probably seen when season 4
2098s is ending which is currently in early
2101s August uh you can see that kind of like
2103s on on your uh character select screen
2105s when you're you're jumping into the game
2107s um I will note that season 5 is a little
2110s bit shorter of a season than what we've
2112s had beforehand uh season 5 itself uh
2115s will run until uh that October 8th date
2118s with vessel of hatred because vessel of
2120s hatred is actually the start of season
2121s six so uh we we did want to at least
2124s clarify make sure because we've heard a
2126s lot of those questions of like hey is
2128s like
2129s is is vessel of haer hitting the middle
2130s of season 5 things like that so we did
2132s want to note that from that end but
2135s enough of the housekeeping notes I know
2137s a lot of players want to hear about uh
2139s season five in itself and so Mr Dan
2142s tangue from the sweltering uh
2147s city of Albany will be uh walking us
2151s through uh season
2153s five yeah absolutely so yeah let's dive
2157s into the new features on PTR for season
2159s 5 um just to give you a little bit of
2162s context you know we did some early
2164s brainstorming for season 5 and we knew
2166s that you know we needed to build out the
2168s endgame uh so endgame you know we've
2170s heard y'all that endgame is very
2172s important and season for we added the
2175s pit into the endgame and some people
2176s have been playing hell Tides into the
2177s endgame but we still want to expand the
2179s end game a bit more right so if it's an
2182s in-game activity we definitely need
2184s something that's rewarding and very
2187s replayable we also wanted to make
2189s something with a lot of monsters I mean
2190s Monster density and just entering that
2193s that feeling of flow State's really
2195s important for
2196s players uh we needed something that had
2198s stakes and we wanted players to push
2200s their luck and finally we really wanted
2203s to return to hell you know previous
2205s Diablo games let you return to Hell
2207s after you defeat the big boss but Diablo
2210s 4 hadn't done that yet and so with all
2213s those goals in mind let me introduce you
2216s to the infernal hordes
2218s now uh let me give you a quick summary
2220s of what the infernal hordes is uh it's a
2223s wave based uh gameplay mode with
2226s Survivor likee choices in between the
2228s waves and it'll culminate with an all
2230s new boss encounter and then the rewards
2233s build on top of itemization 2.0 that
2235s came in season
2237s 4 so now how do you go about confronting
2240s the internal hordes how do you get back
2241s to Hell uh I think we can queue up some
2244s footage and then I'll I'll talk you
2245s through some of the ways you get back to
2247s hell
2249s all right first off you're going to
2250s unlock you know the activity for hell uh
2254s with a Brisk Eternal Quest line starting
2255s at World tier 3 in zarban Zet that's
2258s where you need to go in the PTR now you
2261s need a new type of key called a compass
2263s which you can see down in the inventory
2265s below here and like nightmare dungeons
2267s the compasses all have a starting
2269s monster difficulty and a number of
2271s revives and there are eight levels of
2273s difficulty with escalating Challenge and
2275s rewards as you can see it's a very
2277s nightmare dungeon like flow here and
2280s then compasses can be upgraded to higher
2282s tiers with all new consumables called
2284s Abyssal Scrolls so you'll get a chance
2286s to play with all these new features when
2288s you're in the
2290s PTR but let's let's really talk about
2293s the the gameplay itself and I think
2294s we've got some footage of the wave based
2296s play that I we could show off here um
2300s first off G to have a lot of monsters
2302s now you have one monster here this is a
2305s start of wave one and so you defeat this
2308s ather fiend and it's going to drop
2310s something called burning Aether which is
2311s a new currency now this new currency is
2315s specific to hell and you use it to
2317s unlock The Spoils of Hell at the end of
2319s a
2320s run and at the end of each wave uh
2323s there's going to be what's called The
2324s Infernal offer so let's get through this
2326s wave and we'll take a look at the
2327s infernal offer now you see these hands
2330s reaching out from Hell itself and
2332s they're tempting you with a choice
2334s you're going to choose the form of your
2335s Destructor you're going to pick a boon
2337s in a bane that impacts the rest of your
2341s run and so now you've chosen a a boon in
2344s a Bane and yeah that's going to modify
2347s the gameplay that comes up next and so
2350s here you're jumping into one of the new
2351s activities that also unlocks Aether in
2353s this and this is a soul Spire it's
2356s pretty similar to a hell Spire that
2357s you'd see in Hell tide and you have to
2360s kill a number of enemies within that
2362s ring in order to be able to earn an
2363s ather and you can upgrade Soul spires
2366s from The Infernal office as well if you
2368s like and then finally what you need to
2371s do is complete the number of waves in
2373s order to be able to confront the boss
2375s and so you see in this particular run uh
2378s you're at five of five waves so you are
2381s just about ready once you defeat this
2383s wave to go confront uh the new bosses
2386s for the infernal
2387s hordes so we'll finish collecting our
2390s Aether here uh find our last number of
2393s enemies and I think we're good I think
2396s we're ready to go so let's take a look
2399s at our new bosses I think we've got some
2401s cool art to share here so these are the
2406s Fel Council they're going to be some
2407s familiar faces for Diablo I players they
2410s are resurrected versions of the council
2412s members from Diablo I now for those of
2414s you who didn't play Diablo I uh the
2417s council members were former High Priests
2420s of the zacharo room and they had uh
2424s promised to basically take care of Mesto
2427s after he'd been trapped in the Soul
2428s Stone and he'd been hidden down and
2431s caressed and Trinkle and uh of course as
2435s it happens Mesto corrupted them both in
2438s mind first and then their bodies and
2440s they became demons who are just zealous
2443s and serve him without question and so uh
2447s we thought it was going to be really
2448s cool to be able to resurrect them and
2450s bring them back uh for Diablo I and they
2453s fit great in Hell uh we had to tweak
2455s their power sets a little bit and to fit
2457s the D4 combat system so we gave them new
2460s titles and new looks to really reflect
2462s their their combat
2464s Specialties say it's it's incredibly
2467s awesome to see uh these guys come back
2470s you know it's giving very nostalgic uh
2473s Vibes of of doing a bunch of you know
2475s Durance of hate runs for for Miss Visto
2478s and doing meth runs and everything like
2480s that so yeah it's really awesome to see
2481s him back in uh season
2484s five yeah I agree uh Diablo I is
2487s certainly near dear to our hearts here
2488s out in New York and uh yeah we're really
2492s glad to have them back and we hope to
2493s see uh hopefully more returning new
2496s faces in the future too so let's take a
2499s look at that boss encounter now so uh I
2502s showed you a number of um members of the
2505s Fel Council here we've actually built
2508s five of them in total uh but you're only
2510s going to fight three at a time now we
2513s keep two in the hopper basically and we
2514s do that because we want to have a whole
2516s bunch of replays so associated with this
2518s boss fight and because we're only using
2520s three of the five there's actually 10
2522s variations of this boss fight you can
2524s fight uh randomly as you do your
2527s infernal run and so we're going to uh
2530s basically kill them off and uh once you
2534s defeat one the fight will actually
2536s escalate uh actually probably escalates
2538s even if you just take down a certain
2540s amount of Health if I remember correctly
2543s and uh it escalates uh basically their
2545s attacks become more powerful and then
2548s they start really getting even more
2549s powerful uh kind of room clearing
2551s attacks towards the end but we've
2553s defeated them here and this is the
2556s reward moment I actually wanted to talk
2557s through with you because this is
2559s something that really ties into
2560s itemization 2.0 you've got several
2563s chests here and you've got a choice of
2566s the rewards you get at the end of your
2569s infernal run you can choose from a chest
2572s that contains all new legendaries and
2573s uniques you can choose from a chest that
2576s contains all sorts of crafting materials
2578s including masterworking materials so you
2580s don't need to go to the pit anym
2582s exclusively to get masterworking
2584s materials uh you've got a chest that
2587s allows you just to get a whole bunch of
2588s gold I know people out there are really
2590s asking for gold and this is going to be
2591s a good source of it and finally even
2594s though it wasn't shown here you have a
2596s chest that guarantees a single item with
2600s a greater ax on it and so we thought
2603s we'd want to try this out and see how
2605s people respond to it and we thought it
2607s would be pretty exciting you know
2608s certainly in season 4 I'm really trying
2611s to get some more greater aexes so I'd
2613s love to have this uh in season five um
2617s so yeah let's take a closer look at some
2619s of the uniques you can FM from The
2621s Infernal horde since we're talking about
2622s rewards already uh so we're going to
2625s queue up some footage
2629s here so first up we've got the Basilisk
2633s and so this is going to be a new unique
2635s staff for Druids and so when you hit an
2637s enem with a earth skill it'll petrify
2639s them and deal physical damage so turning
2641s the monsters to Stone always cool but
2644s it's also cool that you can CC your
2646s Target and boost your initial attack
2648s here so this one's pretty exciting for
2650s your Dro players out there all right
2653s next up we've got the third blade now
2656s this is a unique sword for
2658s barbarians this one makes your weapon
2661s Mastery skills uh be treated as core
2664s skills that cost Fury even though they
2666s deal a little reduced image this one's
2668s pretty exciting because now you can
2670s start making all sorts of new builds
2672s that you've never seen before so we're
2674s really interested to see what the
2676s community comes up with here all right
2678s next up we've got the mor Crux now the
2681s mor Crux is a new unique dagger for
2683s necros so when you consume a corpse
2686s there's a chance that you'll create a
2687s skeletal simulacro that seeks out
2690s enemies and when it dies it explodes so
2693s essentially you're Mak making a Skelly
2696s bomb when you consume corpses and so
2698s that's just going to seek out targets
2700s and explode I think that'd be pretty
2702s handy for my necro this season so I'm
2705s looking forward to that one too next up
2708s we have the umber Crux now the umber
2711s Crux is a new unique dagger for Rogues
2714s so if you use a center fuge skill you'll
2716s create a totem and if you hit that totem
2719s with an attack it replicates any of the
2721s damage it takes to all nearby enemies
2724s and so it's a great way for essentially
2727s replic ating and doubling down on the
2729s damage that you're dealing in a
2731s particular
2732s area all right next up we've got the Vox
2735s omnium now the Vox omnium is a new
2738s unique staff for sorcs and so when you
2740s cast a core skill it's going to
2743s attack cast an additional two basic
2746s projectiles based on the previous
2748s elements used and so this allows you to
2751s really start comboing your core and
2753s basic skills together and if you decide
2755s to have different elements a associated
2758s with those core and basic skills now you
2760s can start casting fire and lightning and
2765s cold all at the same time so we're
2767s pretty excited about this one too and
2770s the final one we're going to share out
2771s here is actually a new set of boots
2773s that's available for all classes uh and
2776s these are uh called rakos wake and so
2779s whenever you use an ability with a cool
2781s down you'll trigger tongue twister
2784s trigger an explosion dealing fire damage
2787s and so really it's pretty
2789s straightforward you're going to bathe
2790s your enemies in Flames whenever you use
2791s a cool down skill so maybe I'm going to
2794s dust off my uh Whirlwind Barb here and
2796s slap them on and see how it
2798s does um so yeah these are some of the
2801s uniques and legendaries that are going
2803s in uh to The Infernal hordes uh I think
2807s there are 10 uniques overall and over 20
2811s legendaries that you can farm from The
2813s Infernal hordes so uh there's going to
2816s be a lot to chase down in there that's
2818s awesome thank you Dan for like sharing
2821s going through all that stuff I know with
2823s with players jumping in on PTR
2825s especially for uh and trying out
2827s infernal hordes and everything what's
2829s kind of like the the top things that you
2831s really want them to like kind of hone in
2833s on give feedback on check on uh for
2836s PTR yeah absolutely we we definitely
2839s need feedback on the PTR it's it's super
2842s critical to ensuring that you know the
2844s infernal hordes and all the rewards feel
2846s great for when the season launches so uh
2849s here are some of the topics that you
2851s know we could use some help on uh first
2853s off you know just how is the infernal
2855s hordes gameplay how do the boons and
2857s bines feel you know which ones do you
2859s like the most or the least and these are
2861s types of things that'll help us
2862s fine-tune that experience similarly you
2865s know how is it acquiring compasses do
2867s you have too much too few how do you
2869s feel about upgrading them you know that
2871s could help us really dial in kind of the
2874s access to the infernal hordes uh we're
2876s also interested in learning how you feel
2878s about the difficulty and the gameplay
2880s length of the different tiers like I
2882s said at the top we've got eight
2884s different tiers of difficulty and so you
2887s know we have the ability to dial those
2888s in a little bit we want to make sure
2890s that players can really replay this over
2892s and over again as they push into the
2894s endgame much like the pit and then
2897s finally of course how are the rewards
2899s you know which do you like the most or
2900s the least you know we can certainly make
2902s tweaks on the rewards to make sure
2904s they're as enticing as possible awesome
2907s yeah and I know with uh infernal hordes
2909s this is kind of a this is another
2911s alternative because as you mentioned it
2913s you can jump into it starting with World
2914s tier 3 so if you're actually leveling a
2916s new character you can actually jump into
2918s infernal hordes and you're able to earn
2920s like experience so in here so you
2922s actually have the opportunity of like
2924s jumping into hell Tides if you want to
2926s you can jump into infernal hes uh when
2928s you get to you know 85 or something like
2930s that you can jump into pits uh so
2931s there's there's now like more uh or
2934s nightmare dungeons obviously when you're
2935s update you're upgr your glyphs and
2937s everything so there's a lot of different
2939s variety now for being able to kind of uh
2941s level up a character uh especially as
2943s you're going to that mid to late game uh
2946s um phase of your your character's
2948s Journey you could say yeah something
2950s else to bring up for the rewards for The
2951s Inferno horde as well that I want to
2953s clarify so uh Dan mentioned about you
2956s know there's going to be uniques that
2957s are there that you can Target farming
2958s The Infernal hordes there's actually
2960s going to be a group of uniques and
2961s legendaries that you're able to Target
2963s Farm in that piece of content in the
2965s infernal hordes so um you're also kind
2968s of similar how the normal game works you
2970s know how you can Target farmer unique
2971s from a boss but you can find it anywhere
2973s else in the world it's the same way here
2975s where you can get these new uniques and
2977s legendaries anywhere but you have a
2979s better chance you know if you're
2980s targeting them in the infernal hordes
2981s and this is the first time that we're
2983s doing this with a group of legendaries
2984s as well we have legendary powers that
2987s are actually able to be Target farmed in
2988s the infernal hordes um which is actually
2990s something a little bit new to the game
2992s so I just wanted to clarify that and in
2994s addition to that we're also adding new
2996s uniques and legendary to the rest of the
2998s game as well in addition to this so
3000s there's actually a very large group of
3001s unique I think it's over 50 or something
3003s yeah there's over there's over 50 new
3007s uniques and legendaries coming into
3008s season we have a lot coming pretty a lot
3011s more to talk about there too so yeah we
3013s this was just kind of a small preview of
3015s what people are looking at uh here and
3018s they'll they'll be able to jump in more
3019s and actually check it out on PTR because
3021s all of them will be present there and I
3023s know Adam is actually going to talk
3024s through a few of more a few additional
3026s ones here later but
3027s uh yeah Dan this is awesome can't wait

3033s you uh uh uh informing and and providing
3037s all the new updates and everything it's
3038s exciting yep from the the sweltering
3041s heat of all I I'm going to keep bringing

3061s think we're going to jump into a little
3062s bit of some balance and class updates
3064s with Mr Adam Jackson
3067s so yeah let's get to it we have a lot to
3069s talk about I think we have yeah so the
3072s topics I'm going to be covering today
3074s we've got uh unique items we're going to
3075s be talking quite a bit about that we've
3077s got some updates to Mythic uniques that
3079s are very exciting and near and dear to
3080s my heart and then we've got your
3082s standard class updates a lot of stuff
3084s coming in season 5 um one thing to
3086s clarify here is that we are going to be
3088s releasing the patch notes soon so I'm
3089s not going to be going over every single
3091s you know class update because there's a
3092s ton of them kind of similar to season 4
3094s I'm really only to highlight just like
3095s one major thing for each class on the
3097s stream today but you'll be able to see
3099s all the things that we're doing um in
3100s the patch notes there's a
3103s lot so first uniques uh we have some
3105s quality of life updates here really
3107s targeting how you get uniques that I'm
3109s I'm pretty pumped about to announce here
3112s today so uh you can now Target farm
3115s uniques from three additional sources
3117s you can Target them from oal vendors
3119s hell tide chest and Whisper caches these
3122s places where you've always been able to
3123s you know kind of Target Farm certain
3125s gear slots and not been able to get
3127s uniques and you're wondering well why
3128s didn't why couldn't we do that that
3129s stinks well now you can and it's awesome
3131s and I love
3133s it so here um just to give some more
3136s detail into how this works is uh
3139s basically when you when you open like
3141s I'm just going to use hell tight chest
3142s as an example right if you want a spe
3144s specific unique weapon let's say uh you
3147s can just simply Target the weapon hell
3149s tide chest and you'll be able to have a
3151s chance to get only unique weapons for
3154s your class from those chests so when
3156s you're targeting a specific thing you
3157s just go to you know the place that has
3159s that slot whether it's the oal vendor
3160s the hell TI chest or the whisper cach
3162s and you'll have a chance to get uniques
3164s that are targeted for that slot so it
3166s kind of adds you know while you're doing
3167s your normal grind of you know doing the
3169s boss ladder killing the boss you can
3171s also be collecting obals doing the hell
3172s ties doing The Whispers and having a
3174s chance to Target and get that unique as
3176s well from that
3177s content and in addition to that this is
3180s also true for Mythic uniques uh so I'll
3183s just give an example here of exactly how
3185s this works let's say that you want to
3187s get you know harleen Crest a Sho or
3189s andariel's Vis you don't want to Target
3191s those Helms you could be targeting Helms
3193s from Hell tide targeting Helms and you
3195s know when you turn in your obals to the
3197s oal vendor and every time if you get a
3199s Mythic unique you will get one of those
3202s two from that Source now Also to clarify
3205s let's say that you are like targeting
3207s gloves for some reason you know we don't
3208s have any Mythic unique gloves yet then
3211s if you were to get a Mythic unique you
3212s still can it'll just give you a random
3214s one instead uh since you know you can't
3216s Target one in that slot so pretty
3219s exciting way to uh to Target kind of the
3221s things that you want while you're
3223s farming for the things that you want
3224s it's going to be amazing so I know I
3226s know we've heard a lot of players going
3228s like hey you know we we do the the the
3230s endgame bosses a whole lot where we're
3232s trying to and and you you can actually
3234s find them just in the open world as well
3236s we've actually seen
3237s a lot of cases especially with this past
3239s season where players are jumping into
3240s hell tide and they're actually finding
3242s them there but now it's an additional or
3244s additional options for players uh which
3246s I think will be a lot better um for for
3249s just overall finding some of the gear
3250s that everyone want as someone who for
3252s the last three seasons my uniques have
3254s always come from the Beast and Ice I am
3256s very selfishly invested in getting this
3258s into the game so so all right let's talk
3261s about other unique updates here uh we're
3263s going to be making a whole lot of
3264s updates to our unique items so I'm going
3266s to be covering lot today um we've heard
3268s feed your feedback and we're going to be
3269s doing some updates here um to clarify
3271s before I go into what the updates are uh
3273s you are going to be seeing these updates
3276s to like the way that we think about and
3277s our philosophy of our uniques and how
3279s they work you're going to be seeing them
3280s in the PTR for the new uniques coming
3282s into season 5 uh between the PTR and the
3285s launch you'll be seeing in the season 5
3287s launch these updates to all the existing
3289s uniques in the game so in season 5 comes
3291s out basically all the uniques will get
3292s these updates I'm about to talk about
3294s but in the PTR you're only going to
3295s really see this in the new uniques
3297s coming into the
3299s game yeah there so now we can go on to
3301s the next
3302s part all right so the teams been talking
3305s a lot um as many of you probably know in
3307s season 4 when we did diation 2.0 we
3309s didn't really update the uniques almost
3310s at all in the game right we didn't do
3312s like a big pass to like cover how they
3313s exist in tempering or anything like that
3315s so the team's been talking a lot about
3317s you know what is the role of uniques in
3320s Diablo 4 like how are they different
3321s from legendary items because they're
3322s kind of similar and that they both give
3324s you you know Legendary Power that's
3325s really strong um but how are they
3327s different and what do we want them to be
3329s longterm um and we've kind of landed on
3331s a few things here I'm going to talk
3332s about the first one is that you know
3333s they're powerful and exciting items that
3335s kind of direct players to builds right
3337s so imagine you're a fireball Sor you
3339s know we've got two uniques for you they
3341s really Target you you're going to feel a
3342s lot better playing with Fireball when
3344s you take them uh you know we want you to
3345s take these things and kind of level up
3347s your build they're moments of like very
3348s large incremental power where you feel
3350s like you're you know filling in your
3352s fantasy as a
3353s class um the next one is that they're
3356s kind of pick up and play right they're
3358s easy to evaluate the moment that you
3359s pick up the unique you know you know
3361s whether it's a good one or a bad one we
3363s want this to be a little bit different
3365s from legendary powers where you know you
3366s pick it up and you kind of go on a
3367s journey where you know you make it into
3369s something that's really good a unique
3371s you know when you pick it up whether or
3372s not it's one that you want to keep or
3374s one that you
3375s don't and then the last one uh pretty
3378s obvious but is worth saying you know
3379s they're kind of more rare Chase items
3381s that players don't see very often you
3382s know when you're going through the end
3384s game you're seeing legendary Powers a
3386s lot because you you know we have a lot
3387s of reasons to give you a lot of them you
3388s want to upgrade your codecs they are the
3390s way that you can you know get greater
3392s axes and and temper and Masterwork them
3394s so there's a reason why you want to
3395s churn and look through a lot of them
3397s uniques you do want to get a good one
3399s obviously but not nearly as often as
3401s like a legendary power we don't need
3403s that that aspect of their design so they
3405s are more rare they're harder to get but
3407s when you get it it's kind of like a more
3408s exciting Moment Like did I get the
3409s perfect one and then if not you go and
3411s try and get the next
3413s one so uh let's talk a little about our
3415s goals for the update that we're going to
3417s be doing here um one of the things that
3419s we come to a lot that we talk about on
3420s the team is this idea we I like this
3422s quote of like players build their
3423s legendaries and players build around
3425s their uniques right your Legendary Power
3428s is is very or your legendary items are
3429s very malleable you know the moment you
3431s get it you don't know yet if it's going
3433s to be the best in slot item but it has a
3434s chance to be um but they're also like
3436s able to fit in a lot of different ways
3438s you can manipulate your their stats via
3440s you know enchanting via tempering um and
3442s masterworking and so there's a lot that
3444s you can do with the item once you've
3446s gotten it whereas uniques they're a lot
3447s more static right the the stats on them
3450s can't change you can't really manipulate
3452s them very much and sometimes they have
3453s maybe qualities to them or stats that
3456s are a little bit inconvenient and you
3457s got to figure out like how do I overcome
3458s this this uh this little detriment or
3461s make my build into where it's a Plus
3463s instead of a detriment right like it's a
3465s fixed thing that you have to build
3466s around which is very different than a
3468s legendary um also ideally we want
3471s players to run two to four uniques in
3472s their build you know one of the the
3474s difficult parts of this and I think
3475s we're going to be Contin to work on with
3477s the balance and design of uniques is
3479s that you know we want you to run some
3481s but we don't want you to run all of them
3483s in your build right it's very easy to go
3484s one way or the other I can very easily
3486s make you run no uniques and I can very
3487s easily make you run like every slot is a
3489s unique by making them really really
3490s crazy right um we want these to fit in
3493s such a way that you're running some of
3494s them the ones that are applicable to
3495s your build or maybe some spicy ones here
3497s or there that you try and you know like
3498s makeing a special way to work with you
3501s um but not all of them I would say right
3502s now like on live in season 4 players are
3504s running more like zero to two in their
3506s build so it's not as much as we want
3507s which means that we want to update them
3508s to make them a little bit more
3511s attractive and another one is we kind of
3513s want to move away from these generic
3514s fits all build styles of uniques right
3517s um one thing that I know a lot of
3518s players have talked about in the past
3520s that we've had is that some of our
3521s uniques are just so generically good and
3523s this is particularly uh scary for us
3525s when it's like what we call generic
3527s unique which is one where every class
3528s can use it and so like if every class
3530s can use it and every build can use it
3532s and it's better than like the build
3533s specific or class specific stuff then it
3536s just becomes slot for everybody and
3537s we've taken away your agency and your
3539s choice cuz you're just going to Target
3540s this item and and ignore everything else
3542s right the only items in the game that we
3544s really want to to fit that role are like
3546s Mythic uniques where they're across all
3548s classes and they're so good but they're
3550s also extremely rare so you're very
3553s excited to see them whenever you see one
3554s but all the other regular uniques we
3556s don't want to fit that design space so
3558s we're going to be trying to move away
3559s from these ones and and readjust them
3561s and redesign them a little bit where
3563s they fit into all kinds of builds and
3565s kind of Target something that they're
3566s really good at or that's a little bit
3568s more unique about them and make them
3569s really good at that and less generically
3571s good at everything it's funny because
3573s everyone's in the chat going like oh rip
3575s Sho rip Sho but we just literally we
3578s just mythics is not what they're a
3580s different Beast here I'm talking about
3582s all your regular ones yeah sho's still
3584s going to be just as good if not better
3587s honestly all right so enough Preamble
3590s right what are we actually doing so
3591s we're going to be doing two big updates
3593s to uniques the first one is we're going
3595s to be increasing the upper power of the
3597s unique effects and the roll range um
3599s we're going to be doing a increase in
3600s the range from an average of 10 to 20
3602s rolls which I'll explain in a second and
3604s then we're also going to be increasing
3605s the upper power of like how much you can
3607s get from the rolles this is really just
3608s buffing pretty much most uniques across
3610s the board to compete with the new world
3612s of legendary powers that we live in
3614s since you know they got extra power
3615s juice to them now uniques are catching
3617s up so as an example here I gave you know
3619s if an older unique like one on live gave
3621s you around 40 to 80% multiplicative
3623s damage that's going to go up to like 40
3625s 100 Maybe 20 maybe even higher really
3627s the Mandate is as high as we can get
3629s away with uh without breaking things um
3632s and then we're also going to be
3632s increasing the roll range this is like
3634s the number of possible rolls it can do
3636s from an average of 10 to 20 so it'll be
3638s a little bit harder to get basically
3640s what we're targeting here is the
3641s discrepancy inside of a unique is a
3643s little bit wider where the difference of
3646s like a low roll and a high roll is a
3647s little bit bigger but the high rolls are
3649s way better than they were before so
3651s they're more exciting when you get them
3652s really good um but it's a little bit
3654s harder to get there
3657s and the next one is going to be updating
3659s the affixes the actual stats on the
3660s uniques um we're doing a pass on all of
3662s them and this is kind of what we're
3664s doing the first thing is we're changing
3665s their stats to fit with the season 4
3667s updates right we're doing the things
3669s like we did before of simplifying stats
3671s you know getting rid of super
3672s conditional things making them as more
3674s generically understood and good we're
3676s also going to be adding tempering stats
3678s we're open to really adding whatever we
3680s want that makes the unique fit the
3682s fantasy so as an example here you know a
3685s lot of two-hand weapon uniques have a a
3686s problem where they're all basically
3687s competing against bonus projectiles as
3689s an AIX because you can just temper that
3691s onto your weapons right so when it comes
3693s to those kind of situations we'll just
3695s slap the bonus projectiles on that
3697s unique and now you know it's no longer
3698s competing in that way where we have to
3700s kind of dance around it we can just put
3702s it we're also open to the idea by the
3703s way of breaking slot restrictions kind
3705s of like we did in season 2 so you can
3707s have bonus projectiles or other things
3709s on other slots you know like uniques are
3711s are where we get to play a little bit
3713s and just really make something thematic
3714s and cool and build defining and so they
3716s have less restrictions than everything
3718s else and the other one is we're updating
3720s the stat power levels and the effects so
3723s the idea here that we're thinking and
3724s this is particularly nuan when it comes
3726s to generic uniques but um stats that
3729s kind of fit the theme or the the fantasy
3731s of the unique were are going to be like
3733s way stronger than your normal stats
3735s right so as an example if you have a
3736s unique that's targeting fire damage
3738s maybe it's like a meteor or firewall and
3740s the Sorcerer whatever it may be you know
3742s that plus fire damage can be Juiced up
3744s to be really really high but stats are
3746s more like generically good like you know
3748s I don't know attack speed Max life
3750s resist all um those ones aren't going to
3753s be Juiced unless it fits the theme of
3755s the unique really well right so we have
3757s an example here of one that has been a
3759s problem for us in the past I kind of
3760s want to go through how we would think
3761s about it I'm not going to say exactly
3763s what we're going to do here to toolz
3764s will but kind of give you our thought
3766s process right so toolz will as you many
3769s of you know in previous seasons was kind
3770s of a problem where it just became best
3772s in slot for almost every build um you
3774s know the the famous line we say is that
3776s was you know damage on pants which was
3778s you know impossible to get almost
3779s anywhere else in the game and it turned
3780s out damage on pants was really really
3782s good right um it also gave you damage
3784s reduction one of the best stats in the
3786s game um and then it also gave you a
3788s bunch of it also sold resource in many
3790s ways for you as well right it gave you a
3792s bunch of resource whenever you became
3793s Unstoppable which wasn't too hard to do
3795s um so it was doing a lot of things at
3797s once it gave you you know very unique
3799s effect with putting damage on a slot
3801s that you don't get it it also gave you
3802s resource which is something that every
3803s class wants you know very heavily and
3805s Adam it gave you three extra potions and
3808s three extra potions yes now that one you
3811s that's all right um but yeah so you know
3814s the way that we would tackle this one to
3816s give you an idea is like you know the
3819s the we either would kind of pick you
3820s know do we want to focus this on the the
3822s damage aspect that it's damage on a
3823s non-damaged slot or maybe we focus on
3825s the resource aspect and like double down
3827s on that and make that really powerful
3829s and really cool um or we do like a
3831s little bit of both but if we do both
3833s then it's not going to give you the
3834s defenses that another pant slot would
3836s give right basically in our mind we'd be
3838s like we want to get to give the minimum
3840s amount of Defense where it's not just
3841s like a trash item cuz it has nothing but
3843s then after that not so much you're going
3845s to have to solve your defenses in other
3846s slots or somewhere else to justify
3848s getting the damage on this slot is how
3850s we would think about it right and so
3851s we're having a lot of conversations now
3853s I don't think we're going to nail every
3854s single item perfectly in this first pass
3856s um so we're really looking for feedback
3858s when you you know jump into season five
3859s and Beyond um and we'll be adjusting
3861s them but I kind of want to give you an
3862s idea of what we're doing and kind of
3863s what we're thinking and targeting with
3865s this
3867s I think we can move on so Mythic uniques
3869s uh are getting a facelift here so lots
3872s of updates here Mythic uniques are now
3874s going to be truly Mythic they're getting
3876s a new color beam when they drop on the
3877s ground they're coming out with an
3879s awesome new sound that you're going to
3880s hear in a little bit we've got new item
3881s UI that you can see so they have a
3883s different color um they really are going
3885s to look and feel like the the special
3887s items that they are we have a video here
3889s to show you the sound and what it looks
3890s like on the ground so you can see here
3892s this beam looks you know very different
3894s than anything else
3896s isn't that sound echoey sound I love it
3898s sounds like
3900s a I don't know it sounds like you're
3903s murdering a bunch of like church organs
3905s or something like that it's just like
3907s crazy but yeah so you know with this
3909s thing drops you're definitely going to
3910s know when you got one no more like
3912s sifting through your uniques to see if
3913s it's actually one of the mythics uh
3915s you'll know right away so we're really
3917s excited about this super happy it was
3918s able to get
3920s in all right and last but not least
3922s let's talk about class updates I'm going
3924s to cover some generic things across all
3925s classes and then go through a little bit
3927s of each one again this is not going to
3928s be nearly close to everything that we're
3930s doing just a little taste to teaser for
3932s what you can expect to see let's start
3935s with things across all classes um one
3937s systemic update we're doing to the game
3939s is invulnerability skills are now going
3940s to start their cool down when the
3942s invulnerability ends instead of when the
3944s skill begins um this is really to
3946s prevent things like infinite
3947s invulnerability and really to open up
3949s design space for us on the team cuz now
3951s we can be more comfortable adding things
3952s like you know invulnerable duration to
3955s skills or or cool down reduction more
3957s liberally and things like that where we
3958s don't have to worry about this um this
3961s is very similar to like you know what
3962s our previous games have done and some
3963s other games do and we we think it'll be
3965s a good fit here the idea isn't really to
3967s like make it that you can't be
3968s invulnerable very often it's just to
3970s prevent like a 100% uptime where you
3973s actually break down the combat of the
3974s game and you're not interacting with
3975s enemies anymore uh the next one is we
3978s reviewed monster CC and we generally
3980s reduce the CC duration and frequency
3982s across the board so you know if you were
3984s frustrated by getting Frozen for a
3985s million years and then dying uh that'll
3988s happen much less often and also to help
3990s with this uh potions can be used while
3992s cced even while you're stunned so you
3994s know while you're Frozen standing there
3995s and everybody's around you trying to
3997s kill you you can at least spam potion a
3998s little bit and maybe survive
4001s sometimes uh next one we've got some bug
4004s fixes these are some of the notable ones
4006s we do have more coming in but these are
4007s the ones I wanted to call out uh Rogue
4009s victimize is no longer going to be
4011s double dipping on its damage which is
4012s resulting in a lot more multiplicative
4014s or a lot more damage really than it was
4015s supposed to have uh damage over time
4017s effects we getting double the amount of
4019s percent damage uh that they were
4021s supposed to and skeleton Reapers were
4023s getting both Book of the Dead bonuses
4024s when the second option was selected uh
4026s and again this is you know just a little
4028s bit of a preview but we have other bug
4030s fixes coming but these are some of the
4031s bigger ones we want to call
4033s out all right now let's get to the
4035s classes so Barbarian uh they have a new
4037s unique coming in this is The Unbroken
4039s chain this is for you uh support
4042s barbarians or really just more
4043s defensively oriented ones um basically
4045s with this is going to do is create a
4046s connection between steel grasp and iron
4048s melstrom where you'll be able to cast
4049s iron melstrom a lot more often as you
4051s use steel grasp and also enemies damaged
4054s by our M storm are going to be doing
4056s less damage for a little while so the
4058s idea here is you know you can debuff
4059s enemies debuff those bosses and make
4061s them do less damage to you so you can
4063s survive
4064s better and next the Rogue uh flurry is
4067s going to be getting a lot of big updates
4068s we updated the enhancement and both of
4070s their upgrades so uh you'll be able to
4072s see kind of a theme here going on uh
4074s before you know you you uh damage a
4076s crowd control or vulnerable enemy for
4078s the enhancement then you would heal now
4080s when flurry hits an enemy you can just
4082s make them vulnerable so actually flurry
4084s becomes a vulnerable generator here
4086s which is pretty exciting and it'll also
4088s deal more damage as you hit vulnerable
4090s enemies uh Stacks up really high so the
4092s idea here is with flurry builds you want
4093s to make everything vulnerable and then
4095s just keep whacking them with flurry and
4096s gain a bunch of
4098s damage and now improved flurry is
4100s changing before it was about vulnerable
4102s spreading but now Baseline you can just
4104s generate vulnerable so we don't need
4105s that anymore more so now improve flurry
4107s is going to actually give you a dash so
4109s now similar to uh things like the shred
4112s on the Druid um you can kind of Dash to
4115s your Target and also every time you cast
4116s flurry now it's going to heal you so
4118s it's going to be a lot more mobile a lot
4120s more awesome very
4122s cool and then last but not least to
4124s compete with a dash what could we do
4125s with Advanced flurry well we can just
4127s add a stupid amount of damage and
4129s resource cost reduction so before you
4131s know you had to evade through an enemy
4132s and then do damage with one cast and
4134s stun enemies now as you spam flurry
4137s it'll basically get a big damage bonus
4139s and its energy cost will go down which
4140s will let you be able to spam it even
4142s more often so the idea here is you just
4144s want to be using it over and over and
4145s over again and it'll get stronger and
4146s stronger and ramp up pretty heavily as
4148s you go I'm excited for flurry Rogues
4151s very excited yeah they're going to be
4152s like little huming birds around bouncing
4154s around and it's going to be great yeah
4155s ironically I'm playing flurry this
4157s season so I'm always off by one like I
4159s always play the F and then like oh we're
4161s going to massively make it better next
4163s time but you know it's fine it's fine
4164s everything's fine um next Druid uh
4167s Shephard's aspect we've gotten feedback
4169s from players now for a while now about
4171s how you know Shepherd's aspect kind of
4172s dominates The Meta for Druids because
4175s you're basically both it's both not
4177s great from a design and a balance
4179s perspective on the design side you know
4181s we're telling you to put companions on
4182s your bar and then they're actually just
4184s buffing you so you know you make this
4186s comp companion build fantasy but it's
4187s actually just making the player better
4189s and then on the power side you know
4190s you're just putting you're basically
4192s just slotting three skills on your bar
4194s with your companions and then not really
4195s caring about buffing them or using them
4197s because they're just kind of there as
4198s proxies to make you better so we've
4200s changed it now where you know basically
4202s it's going to be about the companion so
4204s your companion skills are all are just
4206s going to deal damage for every companion
4208s that you have so you know the the bigger
4210s your zoo the better your zoo is going to
4211s perform and to compensate players we're
4214s doing some pretty massive Buffs to Druid
4216s skills Baseline to compensate so you
4217s know your skills are just going to be do
4219s getting that damage Baseline and in many
4221s cases a little bit more so you can uh
4223s check that out when you see the PTR
4225s notes or yeah the PTR patch notes after
4227s this um but we basically just buffed
4229s everything across the board and made it
4231s so that Shepherds isn't required
4233s anymore next for the Sorceress uh this
4236s is axio Conduit I'm really excited about
4238s this unique um this is your chain
4240s lightning unique so chain lightning
4241s builds you find don't have a unique that
4243s really talks to you and you can see here
4245s kind of our stats and that new
4246s philosophy I told you about um you have
4248s chance to double cast chain lightning on
4250s pants instead of just a weapon so that's
4252s pretty cool um so basically the way that
4255s this Works we're going to have a video
4256s but I'm going to explain to you how this
4257s works cuz it actually changes your skill
4259s pretty significantly so now when you
4261s cast chain lightning the way it's going
4263s to work is is it's going to it's going
4264s to cast and bounce on enemies just like
4266s before but then it's going to come back
4267s to you and orbit you a little bit and
4269s then it's going to go out and hit
4270s another enemy and then come back to an
4272s orbit and then come out and then to go
4273s out and do another enemy and come back
4274s it's going to do that back and forth a
4275s few times and every time it comes back
4277s to you it's going to drain some of your
4279s mana and after it drains so much Mana
4282s after coming back 10 times the bolt is
4284s actually going to explode for a
4286s ridiculous amount of lightning damage on
4287s enemies so there's a mini game here
4289s where basically um oh and by the way you
4292s can cast multiple chain Lightnings when
4293s this is out you're basically going to be
4295s like running a Gambit here and the mini
4296s game is you want to Stack as much
4298s resource regeneration as you can so that
4300s your lightning bolts can survive being
4302s drained over and over and bouncing
4304s everywhere so they can last to their
4306s explosion and do a ton of damage to
4308s enemies uh one thing I want to call out
4309s here also is that because it drains Mana
4311s uh resource cost reduction won't work on
4313s that drain you're actually going to want
4315s to focus on gaining resource um which is
4318s a little bit different and kind of makes
4319s this build a little special I think and
4321s unique compared to other
4323s resource builds based around resource s
4326s like see it in action here you so you'll
4327s see what one cast looks like and then
4329s I'll think we'll see what it looks like
4330s when you spam it so you can see here
4331s circles you goes and hits enemies
4333s circles you goes and hits enemies and
4334s then it does a big explosion at the end
4336s that we've tuned the damage to be pretty
4339s high see there so then it explodes so oh
4343s wait oh do we have one where it cast a
4344s bunch of times maybe we don't
4346s oh there we go there yeah so see here
4348s you can see that you know as you go like
4350s keep going going going and they explode
4352s a bunch of times another thing I want to
4353s point out is if you're hugging enemies
4355s in melee range as it's circling you it
4357s will also hit enemies so you now have a
4359s way to like really maximize your damage
4361s by hugging bosses and such uh the damage
4363s goes way
4366s up so next last but not least the
4369s Necromancer uh so we got some feedback
4371s we've had this for a while and felt this
4373s on the team where you know the Golem we
4375s really love you know we love our Golem
4377s our Golem boys and you know but
4379s sometimes it can be frustrating where
4380s you tell the Golem to go somewhere and
4382s then it kind of takes a while to Lug his
4384s butt over there and do his slam or his
4385s shout or whatever and you know things
4386s can get in the way um and so we we've
4390s kind of upgraded him a little bit all
4391s let the video speak for himself
4393s here but so now you can see uh your
4396s Golem will Hulk smash and just jump on
4398s enemies and slam them down so uh this
4402s will work with all of your golem types
4403s by the way not just the Iron Golem but
4405s now your Golem is going to LEAP to the
4407s area that you tell him to go and then
4408s castic ability so we're really excited
4411s about this shout out to Charles Dunn who
4413s got this uh who got this change in and
4415s our animators who helped us out uh we're
4418s we're really pump for it it looks
4422s amazing um yeah so those were the uh the
4425s the class and balance changes and I know
4428s we jumped a slide there how dare you
4430s production no uh but we are as they wave
4433s to me like I'm sorry um we do want to go
4436s into some quality of life updates we do
4438s have a a significant amount of quality
4439s of life updates that we do want to go
4441s through that will be available in uh
4444s season 5 and you guys will actually be
4445s able to check this out in the PTR so now
4448s we can go to the next slide uh where we
4451s do want to talk about some hell tide and
4453s Whisper updates specifically um so I
4455s know this has been kind of at least it's
4457s been a paino for me and I've heard uh
4459s it's been a pain point for others is
4461s that as you guys are going through hell
4463s tide there are whisper objectives within
4464s there to help
4466s your whisper but the issue with the in
4470s Hell TI is that it can take quite a to
4472s do um and you know you can you sometimes
4475s players would have to leave the hell
4477s tide to go to another area to complete
4479s some of these whisper objectives so we
4481s are optimizing this to ensure that they
4483s don't take nearly as much time uh the
4486s the ideal goal is to get a bunch of
4487s value within that those 15 minutes um uh
4490s to and to potentially end up getting a
4492s full entire whisper uh uh 10o bar within
4496s 15
4497s minutes full whisper every so that would
4500s be it'll be a huge help because I know
4503s uh at least for me I've always had to
4505s like kind of leave a hell tide and like
4506s kind try to you know knock some of that
4508s out well especially help for players
4510s that are looking for additional gold cuz
4511s whisper caches have always been great
4513s sources of gold and now as Adam
4515s mentioned you can also use whisper
4517s caches to uh Target
4519s Farm baby so it's it's keeping things uh
4523s uh more optimized for players which we
4525s know will be way better there uh next
4528s thing we do want to talk about is also
4530s banful Hearts I know in uh this may not
4533s sound like a huge quality of life thing
4534s or a buff of of any sort but we have
4537s noticed that and uh players have had a
4539s lot of banful Hearts uh within their
4541s inventory we do want to make these uh a
4544s little bit more valuable so they won't
4546s drop as frequently we know that players
4548s will still have a significant amount but
4551s maybe not hundreds and hundreds like
4553s some people have uh Within their
4555s inventory but uh players should not have
4558s any type of issues uh regarding having a
4560s ton of these painful Hearts but we are
4562s tweaking the the drop rate because they
4564s were dropping a little too much
4566s there tempering the the the the very
4572s very uh uh I guess like brought up topic
4576s well like yeah people like about temp
4579s it's pretty popular yeah so I want to
4581s take a minute to talk about tempering
4582s and kind of how the design team sees it
4584s and kind of what we're Happ Happ with
4585s what we think could be better and and
4587s some adjustments we'll be making in
4588s season 5 so first high level kind of how
4591s we see tempering um we really think that
4594s it's important that items have an end
4596s point where players know kind of that
4598s the item is done and that they're not
4599s hoarding lots of them forever on the
4601s chance that they can all be good right
4603s one of the big key goals of season 4 was
4606s that we didn't want you saving a million
4608s items in your stash space and while we
4610s know that you know bricking an item
4612s never feels great we do need that to be
4614s something that's possible to do in the
4616s game so that you know when the journey
4617s is done and you're not just holding on
4619s to an item forever so that part we
4621s actually think is working very well
4622s where you know an item is done and you
4623s try and go get another one and so you're
4625s always interested in items and trying to
4627s you know get have that game Loop go for
4629s in the game indefinitely um or until you
4631s feel like your character is is Max sonic
4633s power um but we do agree with players
4636s that you know the RNG right now is like
4638s completely out of their hands which
4639s doesn't really feel great you know you
4640s get you get so many tries basically to
4642s roll and then that's kind of it and
4643s you're done and it doesn't feel great so
4645s we're looking at ways um in the future
4647s for players to have more control over
4649s that RNG so that you know you have more
4650s ways to maybe manipulate the tempering
4652s or get the odds in your favor um and do
4654s other things like that um One update
4657s that's going to be coming in season five
4659s uh it won't be in the PTR but is we're
4661s targeting for launch is that you know
4663s we've got a lot of feedback that it
4664s feels so bad when you know you get that
4666s like triple greater AIX and it has the
4668s same number of rolls and then you you
4670s you brick it and then you have to try
4671s and go get another one so in season five
4674s to help with this you know as your item
4675s gets better basically that you find
4677s you're going to have more chances to
4678s temper it so a much better chance to get
4680s the one that you want um basically the
4682s way it work is you're going basically
4683s get one extra roll per grer aics that
4685s you have so you know you have one grer
4686s aics one roll three three rolls and
4689s again just to clarify this is not in the
4690s PTR but it will be in for the uh the
4693s launch of season 5 in itself and I again
4696s just to reiterate we are still looking
4698s at ways uh to to help out that
4701s experience within tempering as we've
4702s noted we we agree with players that it
4704s doesn't always feel
4705s and so um you guys should expect to hear
4708s more updates to tempering after we
4711s through season 5 for sure yeah all right
4714s next up weapons yeah so I'll talk about
4717s this one a little bit uh we took a look
4719s at this chart yeah this chart uh we took
4722s a look at inherent affixes on weapons
4724s and we found that you know a lot of
4725s inherent affixes like damage to distant
4726s or some other ones were were a little
4728s too conditional and didn't get the
4729s update you know in season 4 that we
4731s wanted so we went back and made them a
4733s little bit more generically useful and
4735s and better across more builds so we have
4737s a little chart here but you can see kind
4739s of this is going to be the new inherent
4742s affixes on all the different weapon
4743s types so we've made quite a few
4745s adjustments here you know as an example
4747s you know vulnerable damage is on uh bows
4750s and do damage and on axes which I I
4753s believe vulnerable on Bose is new but
4755s yeah so we made quite a few updates we
4756s basically just looked at the matric of
4758s everything and kind of adjusted it to
4760s see what makes sense so basically you're
4762s just going to have you know things that
4763s actually impact your builds much more
4765s often on the weapons that that you
4768s want and as another result of this
4770s update we are also looking at what
4772s weapons classes can use and we updated
4774s them a little bit to try and you know
4775s let more classes use more weapons we
4777s want players to be able to create
4779s interesting builds play the way that we
4781s want and so we want to open up these
4782s things as much as we can in our designs
4784s so now jur are going to be able to use
4785s two hand pull arms one hand swords and
4788s daggers uh sorceresses are going to be
4790s able to use oneand swords and maces and
4792s necromancers are going to be able to use
4794s I think it's a ma and axes actually yeah
4796s despite this Necromancer pictured right
4798s here that is not
4799s using well it's using a two-handed sword
4802s but you can already use a two-handed
4803s sword but not using a uh yeah and the
4806s The Necromancer here I know it's
4807s supposed to say all maces and axes as
4810s opposed to all swords so um but yeah
4813s basically we're going to be like opening
4814s up these classes to use more weapon
4817s types um and then also some of the
4819s uniques are going to be updated for the
4820s classes as well so the butcher's Cleaver
4822s can now be used for necros uh and
4824s sorcerer can use Doom Breer and Azure
4827s wrath now yeah Sorcerers can use uh uh
4829s Azure wrath kind of like D2 yep fits
4832s their theme very well too so I think
4834s that'll be pretty
4836s cool um some additional quality of life
4839s updates now we're going to talk about
4841s some endgame bosses as I have
4844s experienced as Adam has experienced
4845s earlier as he mentioned in the Stream we
4847s are making changes to the Beast and Ice
4849s um you guys will no longer have to make
4851s a Sigil to summon the beast in ice which
4854s is a uh huge Quality of Life Update uh
4857s the Beast will now live in a standard
4859s dungeon uh the crawl to get to the Beast
4862s and ice is much much shorter now it's
4864s going to be more similar to what we've
4866s seen with uh some of the the other
4868s endgame bosses uh and then at the same
4870s time Eternal players that have maybe uh
4873s already built out some of these sigils
4875s we made sure to keep you in mind so you
4876s can still use the sigils to fight the
4878s boss you won't just uh you won't need
4880s summoning materials you can just use the
4881s sigil right there uh in the uh the boss
4884s room in itself and uh this no longer
4887s requires sigil dust to actually summon
4889s the Beast and ice so some big changes to
4891s the Beast and Ice to help out that uh
4894s that whole entire feel uh especially
4896s when you're really Target farming the
4897s Beast and Ice uh sometimes it was kind
4899s of uh brutal to have to go through the
4901s whole entire dungeon each and every time
4904s so many times yeah so uh next we have uh
4908s Varon Varan um the body parts are pretty
4911s much being reduced to one um I know it
4913s was eating up a lot of inventory space
4916s It was kind of hard to manage at times
4917s and everything so we're optimizing this
4919s making this better so now you'll just
4921s need one body part to essentially uh
4923s summon Varon going forward uh starting
4926s with season
4929s five and uh one big thing that we're
4932s going to call out here before and this
4933s is kind of like the the cherry on top uh
4936s we should let's actually just play the
4938s clip and see if people actually notice
4939s it and if not then I we'll call what
4941s could be different this time
4946s poor durial yeah Mythic unique maybe oh
4948s no that's not it oh good gear though
4952s yeah something that is interesting here
4955s is The Cauldron has reappeared you can
4958s just resum again there's the ultra right
4960s there you can now resummon all the
4962s endgame bosses without needing to run
4964s out of the dungeon reset the and reset
4967s the dungeon so this will help a whole
4969s lot will make things way better in terms
4972s of like optimizing when you're for time
4974s and
4975s espe when you're you're like everyone
4977s thee so I can reset and like that now
4980s you'll be able to do that immediately
4982s for all the endgame bosses which is a
4984s huge huge feature I know that players
4986s have been asking for um so that will be
4989s also incorporated into season 5 so lots
4993s and lots of changes for season five um
4996s one other thing um I did want to call
4998s out regarding tempering because uh just
5001s to clarify because we've we've got some
5002s people going like oh I don't understand
5004s like the greater a stuff like in terms
5006s of additional roles if you have a onear
5008s greater AIC you'll get one additional Ro
5010s if you have like a three star or four
5011s star or something you would get three or
5013s four depending the the amount of stars
5015s that you actually specifically have on
5018s your uh your item yeah I think it goes
5020s up to three three three sorry yeah
5023s four more uniqu yeah yeah if thinking
5027s razor plate or something like that but
5029s uh the other thing that I did want to
5031s call out is that this is actually going
5033s to be retroactive so uh for for players
5035s that still have maybe an item that they
5038s may have potentially bricked and it's
5040s sitting in their stash you know just for
5042s like momento purposes or anything like
5045s that yeah when your character does move
5046s to Eternal um if it was a greater AIX
5049s like a three star greater AIX or
5051s something like that uh you will uh end
5053s up getting those three additional roles
5054s uh afterwards so uh that will appear
5057s after these changes actually are
5059s implemented with the start of season 5
5060s it'll just be on your Eternal character
5062s obviously because your seasonal
5063s character will move to eternal um as I
5065s fix my earpiece that's like falling out
5068s um but uh one other thing I did want to
5071s call out as well for season 5 um we have
5074s some really U big like accessibility
5076s options that uh are being added to the
5079s actual game and we really really need
5081s some testing on this in the season 5 PTR
5084s this is actually called out in our blog
5086s we' really love if players can actually
5088s check them out test them out provide
5090s feedback I will note we aren't planning
5092s despite it being in the season 5 p
5095s we aren't planning on these features
5096s actually launching with season 5 we
5098s really want to take the feedback make
5100s them you know better for for when they
5103s are ready and right now I think the the
5105s plan would be that they would be ready
5106s for season 6 but it's important for us
5109s to be able to get that feedback so we
5110s really need people to to actually chest
5112s test test out these uh these um specific
5116s uh features we have like an autop pin
5118s feature we have a compass feature uh and
5120s then we have like a audio uh navigation
5122s assistance feature that is coming within
5125s some of these accessibility features for
5126s season 5 so really important for people
5128s to kind of like jump in check it out uh
5131s give us feedback and then you'll see
5133s those in uh season 6 uh after the PTR is
5136s kind of over um but that is kind of like
5140s a a huge wrap up of all the stuff that
5142s is coming for uh the season 5 PTR and
5144s even a little bit more of even even some
5147s of the stuff for season 5 itself um we
5149s do want to take some questions and we
5151s still have Dan on the line um from the
5153s burning HS of Albany uh he to to answer
5157s any questions that we may have but I
5159s know we have a question specifically
5160s teed up so if you have questions please
5162s ask them in um twitch chat uh which is
5165s where we have live chat going on right

5175s this question um are there any new class
5178s Buffs coming to season 5 specifically if
5181s Adam can answer Druid and sorceress
5184s because I know we hear you everyone
5188s about jid and sorceress I know we talked
5190s a little bit about it here but if you
5191s can like expand on it a little yeah yeah
5193s yeah yes there are new class Ms cover
5195s season five covered a little bit um I
5198s think one thing call out that people
5199s talk a lot about right now is you know
5201s how Barbarians in particular are pretty
5203s strong and then you know the the classes
5205s that can't get as far as they can in the
5206s pit you know feels kind of bad um
5209s there's there's a lot to chew on there
5210s but I think the the short answer is yes
5213s we hear you and we're going to be
5214s looking to beef things these things up
5216s we do have some specific ways that we
5217s want to be targeting these things um and
5219s there's a lot of history to it um
5221s Barbarians in particular are are tougher
5223s to balance I think I've talked about
5224s this on stream a little bit before of
5226s you know because of their Arsenal system
5228s they have more items you know anytime
5230s that we mess with and we've messed with
5232s like the underlying systems of the game
5233s very heavily in the last year right
5235s season two we updated all the combat
5237s math which of course impacts items which
5239s impacts character power we've uh updated
5242s in season 4 all of itemization which
5244s obviously directly impacts the Arsenal
5246s system very heavily so when we do these
5248s large shakeups um it's it's way more
5251s it's a lot more difficult in the short
5252s amount of time to get everything you
5253s know exactly perfect of how it the the
5256s combinatorics of those effects are going
5257s to impact classes right
5260s um so that's one end of it another end
5263s is what we're trying to do and we
5265s started this with started with this in
5266s season 4 is we were we're looking at the
5269s other class mechanics and we want to
5271s kind of beef them up and give them the
5273s treatment that we kind of gave with the
5274s Necromancer in the Book of the Dead you
5276s know in season 4 we actually wanted to
5278s try this as an experiment like hey you
5280s know the Book of the Dead the minions
5281s the sacrifice bonuses um they're what
5283s really make Necromancer feel really cool
5285s and special and unique so we're going to
5287s you know try and catch that up so to
5289s speak to the Arsenal system on the
5291s Barbarian and not only just increase the
5293s numbers right because just increasing
5294s the numbers is kind of easy we even did
5295s that in the mid-season patch if you look
5297s at the Druid Boons you know we increase
5298s them by 50% double them in many cases
5301s but we think to really help solve that
5303s on the fantasy and even just a design
5306s perspective we want to like overhaul and
5307s really look at these mechanics and make
5309s them way better and more thematic to
5311s classes so we don't have anything to
5313s announce today for season five but
5315s that's something more longterm that
5316s we're doing to to help that problem in
5318s the future in the short term we are you
5321s know looking at you know fixing the
5322s issues with these various classes
5324s buffing them up in different ways you
5325s know making different builds and other
5326s things viable and trying to keep that
5328s parody um we're also looking at uh you
5330s know Bringing Down the outliers of Power
5332s with the Barbarian in different ways um
5334s to make sure that they have more parody
5335s with other classes as well but that's
5337s kind of our our short and long-term
5339s vision of where we want this to be
5341s awesome um I know uh we have a question
5343s specifically and this is something I've
5345s seen a few times regarding uh season
5348s five for for uh Dan because infernal
5351s hordes people are seeing this gameplay
5352s and they're hearing about like okay like
5354s I can play can I play this on Eternal
5357s and seasonal can uh I play this is this
5360s like an ongoing thing going forward like
5363s what what can players expect Dan
5366s sure yeah so with season five um we
5369s wanted to build out the endgame and
5373s because we're building out the endgame
5374s we wanted to make sure that any of the
5376s endgame things we're putting in are on
5379s both seasonal and eternal and so uh in
5383s this PTR you'll be able to test out the
5385s Eternal version of infernal hordes and
5389s so uh any of the rewards you get from it
5392s all that's Eternal so all players are
5394s going to benefit from it awesome yeah so
5398s all players will benefit from it and
5399s it's and as Dan mentioned it's a it's a
5402s a new endgame feature so it's like
5404s something that will be you know
5405s continuous Beyond you know even season 5
5408s is what we're looking at so um yeah
5411s players can expect to jump in infernal
5412s hordes going forward which is pretty
5414s cool uh and yeah the feedback is going
5416s to be incredibly important during this
5418s PTR as Dan mentioned beforehand all the
5420s specific uh items that we're really
5422s hoping to get you know uh Fe back on uh
5425s regarding you know how the boons feel
5427s how the the rewards feel how the the the
5430s combat feels and the waves and stuff
5432s like that will be uh really important
5433s for us during this specific moment
5436s um what is the this is another season
5439s five question and hopefully you might be
5440s able to answer this Dan um what this
5443s from Lucky Luciano shout out Dia partner
5446s uh what is the equivalent pit level of
5448s the eighth difficulty of like the
5450s infernal hordes pit level I guess or
5453s nightmare dungeon or monster level yeah
5456s you're making me do math here um yeah we
5459s just adjusted pit levels so tier tier
5462s eight tier eight of the internal hordes
5464s is going to be uh equivalent to about
5467s monster level I think it's 180 to 200 so
5472s it goes up pretty high that's pretty
5473s late okay nice nice so a difficult
5478s challenge for sure um which is good to
5480s hear uh we have a question from uh zap
5486s do man you all need easier names I swear
5489s uh uh do you foresee changes in grouping
5492s in the pit to allow uh Group Play to be
5495s more efficient um there will be changes
5498s it won't be something present in PTR uh
5501s we'll talk more about it at the season
5503s five launch but the team is very aware
5505s of it um because we've heard about like
5507s hey it's kind of not great to feel like
5509s I'm getting only 50% of you know the
5512s rewards Associated when I'm in a group
5513s Within uh a pit if I'm not the the party
5516s leader specifically so uh it's something
5518s that the team's taking in and we will uh
5521s have an update for players before season
5523s five and it will be live whatever change
5525s we have uh live in season five so um a
5529s question from let's
5533s see well this one's easy okay robot Jomo
5536s uh what's the team's philosophy on uh
5538s rate of power gain uh it seems that
5541s tempering especially uh players gain too
5543s much power are too quickly really
5545s removing the tension from leveling up
5547s experience any chance to add more
5548s friction uh to tempering materials costs
5551s Etc yeah uh we have seen a little bit of
5555s this and heard this feedback ourselves
5556s um it's kind of going in two different
5558s ways here so the leveling experience
5560s then how tempering messes with it right
5562s um the leveling experience as people
5564s probably have seen has been sped up
5566s quite a bit right we do want people to
5568s be able to kind of level quickly and get
5570s to the the fun of the game as quickly as
5572s possible so we do want them you know we
5574s don't want there to be a ton of friction
5576s like you know when we first launched the
5577s game we we had the idea that like
5579s getting to level 100 alone was a big
5582s accomplishment right um and we've
5585s learned that you know players really
5586s want to like fulfill their power
5588s fantasies get to the part where they're
5589s actually like incrementally increasing
5591s their characters power and finding
5592s things to use that power against and so
5594s they they enjoy that end game a lot and
5595s we want to get them there in a
5597s reasonable amount of time so that's the
5599s part that is like you know hey you know
5601s it's fine level quicker it's good right
5602s but then the other part is like
5604s tempering and kind of the tuning of the
5606s aexes um we have heard the feedback and
5608s and kind of agree with it that you know
5609s the early tempering recipes are are
5611s really really strong right um that was
5614s by Design when we launched season 4 uh
5616s one of the big kind of mandates to the
5618s team that we felt was important was we
5621s wanted you know before season 4 we
5623s constantly got the feedback and and knew
5625s it was true that you know your item
5627s stats weren't interesting enough and
5629s didn't matter enough and weren't very
5630s impactful and just didn't feel good
5632s right and so we we very much like Juiced
5635s them up to be very strong and then this
5637s new tempering system that manipulates
5638s them we made it very strong so that out
5640s the gate our goal was that when you
5642s temper an item you can really feel the
5644s damage it wasn't like this incremental
5646s oh my damage goes up in like 10
5647s different places here and there and now
5649s I'm strong it was like no this one thing
5651s happened and you felt it and it was good
5653s and so we're going to you know try and
5655s walk that line we're going to probably
5656s go a little more in between here where
5658s you know we do agree that the tempering
5660s is warping the early game experience too
5661s much to the point that it's like you
5663s pick up an and you don't care about the
5665s stats because you just temper something
5666s on and it's like way better right so we
5668s don't want that but we do still want
5670s them to feel and be really impactful so
5673s we have heard the feedback um I don't
5676s remember don't think we have huge
5677s adjustments in season five right away
5679s but we are going to be looking at that
5681s leveling process and and streaming
5683s lining that quite a bit um we're having
5685s time having in talks about that right
5686s now with various members of the team so
5688s it will be looked at uh not tons will
5690s change in season 5 though awesome uh

5699s log in on H did you say we can temper
5702s uniques uh are you open to letting us
5705s imprint affixes I had this thought we
5707s can imprint a unique but only once yeah
5710s uh going back that was kind of what I
5711s talked about with the unique section we
5714s right now know I'm not going to say
5716s never in the future it's definitely the
5718s obvious thing that we could do like you
5719s know just add tempering to uniques of
5720s course um but we we want them to have
5724s identity that is very different from
5725s legendaries U one of the concerns with
5727s that is that the more that you give
5728s uniques manipulation the more that they
5731s just turn into legendaries with a
5732s different item color when they drop on
5733s the ground right like they're actually
5735s not different in how they work if we
5736s were able to manipul manipulate stats
5738s add stats all those things so we do want
5741s them to have a different identity in the
5742s game um so we're not doing it now but
5744s you know in the future we've talked
5746s about it we're we're open to the idea
5747s but we do want to try this first of like
5750s double down you on what makes it unique
5752s unique and that you build around it it's
5753s a there a little bit of friction um
5755s rather than just turning it into the
5757s item that you want every time yep uh
5759s question from baric is uh hey Adam or
5762s Adams um I have a question for the Q&A
5765s how is the dev team feeling about the
5766s reception of season 4 is that making
5768s them rethink any plans for future
5770s Seasons I mean I think one thing that we
5772s can most definitely call out here is
5773s like obviously season 4 has been really
5775s great like we've been hearing a lot of
5777s great feedback from players um and you
5779s know we're very well aware of like you
5781s know how everyone's been enjoying it um
5783s I think one huge thing that's helped
5785s with that as well was like the idea that
5787s we had a PTR for season 4 and now we're
5789s seeing that again for season 5 um so
5792s like we we know like having that moment
5794s where players can actually jump in
5795s provide feedback uh give us some some
5797s notes on specific things is really
5799s beneficial especially when we have like
5800s new huge features like what we did for
5803s season 4 which was you know obviously
5805s tempering masterworking uh the pit all
5808s new hell Tides there was a ton of new
5809s features and then of course with season
5811s 5 you know players are now going to be
5813s able to run through infernal horde uh
5815s tons of new gear and and uh legendary
5818s aspects for them so it's just like a ton
5820s of stuff that we know that we can most
5822s definitely take feedback on having those
5824s moments has really helped us with some
5826s of those decisions yeah I would say on
5828s on the design team side I know like the
5830s people on the team are very happy with
5831s how season 4 went it couldn't have
5832s gotten better really in our eyes um PTR
5835s was a huge deal um helped us a lot
5837s especially on the balance and design
5838s side to you know get things into a
5840s better place um another thing I may call
5843s out with season 4 is that um how to
5846s phrase
5847s it
5849s like you know there's been a lot of
5851s disruption to the game right and so when
5855s there's that much disruption of like you
5857s know we update all the core math and all
5858s the items and everything you know it's
5859s very difficult to get things into a
5861s fine-tuned state right and you know
5863s without giving anything away we have big
5865s updates coming in the future with you
5866s know expansion and other things but one
5868s of the things that we're we're looking
5870s forward to I think as a team is when
5871s we've kind of uh settled down a little
5873s bit on the big disruptions like
5875s overhauling all of itemization and
5877s things like that because um you know it
5880s becomes a lot more difficult to find
5881s tune things like balance or even on the
5884s design side like designs and making sure
5885s that they work and that we're like it
5888s iterating and upgrading things versus
5891s you know changing things around in huge
5892s ways so while we think it was really
5894s successful and we're happy with how
5896s itemization 2.0 turned out um the team
5899s is looking forward to like making the
5901s things as they are and make them work
5903s better and and more do fine-tuning work
5905s and so I think you can expect in the
5906s future as a player um you know after
5909s we've done some more disruption and made
5910s the game like in a really good place
5912s we're very happy with it which we're
5913s really close to now I think um that
5915s you're you know you have tighter class
5917s balance tighter designs tighter roles
5919s for things and just you know the one of
5922s the things that excites me and excited
5924s the team about season 4 was like the
5925s tons of quality of life improvements and
5927s how much of an impact that makes on
5928s players which I think we knew but it hit
5931s home in season 4 right like just the
5933s Codex a how that changed and how that
5935s completely fixed you know the hoarding
5937s of items and things like that I think
5940s are what really Jazz us a lot because it
5942s just makes that flow experience better
5943s like the boss ladder you know being able
5945s to reset bosses stuff like that I think
5946s is actually really impactful um and good
5949s for for the longevity of the game so
5951s we're excited to do more things like
5952s that all right uh last question that we
5956s have here uh is uh
5960s s well it's just sadan sadan with the Z
5964s and 666 afterwards very good yeah very
5967s Diablo theme is specifically asking uh
5970s what is the seasonal theme um or are we
5974s like holding back any information right
5976s now regarding that and stuff uh Dan I
5978s don't know if you want to clarify here
5980s or if you want me to you
5983s can all right so um we haven't announced
5987s the name for the season yet uh as far as
5990s I know but the the seasonal theme seems
5994s I guess fairly obvious um you know we're
5997s going back to hell and so uh the theme
6001s is pretty much returning to hell and
6004s while the infernal hordes is uh just one
6007s part of that uh the rewards are another
6010s part and uh when we have our our season
6013s five live stream uh we'll go into all of
6017s the rest of the things that we have
6018s planned for season five exactly yeah we
6021s have uh we have some yeah we have some
6023s we have some additional Stu uh to to
6026s talk about when we we do actually have
6028s our season 5 live stream we're just uh
6030s right now the biggest Focus for this
6032s stream is for people to hear about the
6033s content that they're going to be able to
6034s play in PTR um and we want people to
6037s really hone in and focus in on that uh
6040s so we can actually get that feedback uh
6042s for the team here and we can make any
6044s changes that we may need to so um but
6047s yeah that is kind of uh going to wrap

6076s currently no plans right now for for
