1384s vessel of hatred is the next big chapter
1386s in the story of Diablo I when we last
1389s left off we had defeated Lilith and Nel
1391s was sailing South with misto Soul Stone
1393s in hand this is a tremendous burden for
1396s someone as young and untrained as Nel
1399s but somehow she has found the will to
1400s fight challenging the Primeval every
1402s step of the way in this expansion we
1405s follow their path as Nel seeks salvation
1407s from Mesto and searches for a way to
1410s banish him back to the
1413s abyss as we wrap up Diablo 4 there has
1417s been a huge battle and Hell between
1420s anaras the Cathedral of lights and
1422s Lilith and all of her demons throughout
1425s this entire campaign in Diablo I you're
1428s basically trying to defeat Lilith so you
1431s team up with people like Nel who's this
1434s young eager character and then you've
1436s got Laura who is this sort of wise drunk
1440s he was the Herod so he brings this
1442s rounded old school thinking he ends up
1445s being the Catalyst of the group inarius
1448s believed that if he killed Lilith he
1450s would be accepted Again by heaven so he
1453s went after Lilith he actually stabbed
1456s her and Heaven did not take him back and
1459s he had this moment of I've been wrong
1461s this entire time and she used that
1463s against him and ended up killing an
1465s Arius
1469s her goal was to devour her father Mesto
1473s and we ended up actually stopping her
1475s and so even though she was defeated she
1477s kind of gave us a warning of I was the
1479s only one that could actually save you
1481s from Mesto Nell is left with the Soul
1483s Stone and she decides to take the
1486s essence of Mesto and trap him into the
1488s Soul Stone lorth is still with us and is
1490s going to try and help us find
1492s information on where Nel went and so we
1494s leave off with her sailing South with
1496s the stone telling you do not follow the
1498s world might need you and over time
1501s things start to unfold and you realize
1503s that Nel cannot do this alone and so you
1506s start your search for
1510s her when we pick up in vessel of hatred
1513s the Cathedral of light is kind of in
1516s disarray it became a bit fractured with
1518s the death of narius so there was a bit
1520s of a split with the Cathedral of light
1522s afterwards this created an opening for a
1525s whole new sect to rise up and take
1527s things into their own hands hands and so
1529s you end up with a militant wing of the
1531s church that is the burnt Knights burnt
1533s Knights are led by yvar a survivor of
1536s Hell he's uncompromising he feels that
1539s he's final judgment and that he's going
1541s to make better decisions for the church
1543s they battled in hell and now they're on
1545s this Manhunt for Nel and for lorath they
1548s want them to pay for their crimes and
1550s they think that they should be the ones
1552s that have a say on what happens to
1555s Sanctuary metho is the Lord of hatred he
1558s is probably the one primeval that can
1562s create the most Dee rooted chaos
1565s breaking up the people of sanctuary in
1568s the events of Diablo 2 he was destroyed
1571s he's been slowly resurrecting himself in
1573s hell and he wants to come back and bring
1575s himself back to sanctuary and now that
1577s he is in this Soul Stone that Nal
1579s carries this is his opportunity The
1581s Herald of hatred is mephisto's wolf form
1584s it's this astr projected form that he
1586s gets to put out and connect with the
1588s plag and whisper in people's ears the
1591s connection between Nel the player and
1594s Mesto is the fate of the world Nel wants
1598s to get rid of them but the more time she
1600s spends with the stone the tighter the
1601s bond between her and the stone is the
1604s corrupting influence of mefisto Soul
1606s Stone is going to potentially convince
1609s her to bring mefisto back instead of
1611s destroy him like she originally wanted
1613s so we need to actually make sure that
1616s she fulfills her original intent and
1618s doesn't fault to mephisto's
1622s influence nyell plans to bring the Soul
1625s Stone into the Vault of light so she can
1628s purify the Soul Stone of mephisto's
1630s essence The Vault of light is this
1633s really sacred place that akarat created
1636s his presence is really important through
1639s the history of sanctuary akarat wandered
1642s the world speaking the teachings of the
1644s zachar room Faith his tomb is also said
1647s to be in The Vault of Light which is in
1650s nantu akaran is the one who discovered
1652s the spirit realm when the world Zone was
1654s forged and Sanctuary came out of it this
1657s veil was created and that's what created
1659s the spirit realm demons aren't there
1660s Angels aren't there it's a very special
1662s place for Humanity and for a long time
1665s the spirit realm was not touched and now
1667s mephisto's corruption is creeping its
1670s way and that's a fear that everybody in
1672s nanu is thinking
1675s about spirituality is really unique to
1678s humanity and in the jungle it's a big
1681s part of their culture aru is this elder
1685s this magical being a spirit born and
1688s he's really connected to nantu this is
1691s his home this is his ancestral lineage
1694s and he's guiding the player on this
1696s journey to help Nell we actually find
1699s out that there have been sightings of
1701s Nell in nanu and we end up following her
1706s there in vessel of hatred this is a
1709s story about isolation we start off with
1712s the concept that Nell is trying to do
1714s this alone but at some point you realize
1717s that things are escalating and so we
1719s morph from this idea of isolation into
1723s the idea of being stronger together for
1725s someone that has been through the
1727s Journey that our Wanderer has that nyell
1731s has been through you feel there's hope
1733s that Sanctuary is not going to be lost
1736s you get to see pockets of sanctuary that
1738s we haven't been able to see before but
1739s it's still all in that same tone in that
1742s same world that everybody loves so

1760s is a very special Diablo 4 developer
1762s update as this is our pre-launch stream
1764s before vessel of hatred which is
1766s actually going to be shipping here uh
1768s next week which is crazy to think about
1770s I'm joined here by Mr Brent Gibson game
1772s director for Diablo 4 I know before we
1775s have our Big Show uh you wanted to talk
1777s a little bit about uh vessel of hatred
1779s and what's to come yeah this is a really
1781s big week the fact that we're finally on
1783s the doorstep of shipping vessel of
1785s hatred is a bit surreal we've been
1787s working on it for a very long time you
1789s know over the course of the last five
1791s seasons so much has changed and we're
1794s excited to talk about some of those
1795s details today uh everything kicks off
1798s with our epic journey through nantu
1801s where we're going to be telling the next
1802s chapter of Mesto and it doesn't really
1806s stop there we haven't talked about it
1807s much yet but we we've actually created a
1809s custom Quest at the end of the story
1811s that leads those players who haven't
1813s gotten to endgame will get to endgame
1815s that's awesome along the way you're also
1817s going to find brand new ways to play
1818s with the Kos under City we've talked
1820s about this time attack dungeon uh that's
1822s super cool we'll go into more detail on
1824s that today uh we have our Co-op PVE
1826s experience with the dark Citadel for the
1828s those hardcore players that like playing
1829s with friends you're going to have
1830s something really cool there and we also
1833s have brand new ways of gaining power
1835s whether you're hiring mercenaries and
1837s leveling them up or finding our new
1840s powerful runes that create Rune words to
1842s socket into your gear you're going to
1843s have a lot more ways to actually alter
1845s the builds that you've been playing with
1847s all this time so uh at the at the end of
1850s all this we have the star of our show
1852s our class that wants to go fast uh the
1855s spirit born which uh you know everybody
1858s got a sneak peek at that quite a while
1859s ago and we have been polishing it and
1862s getting it ready to make sure that it's
1863s the most fun it can be at launch yeah
1865s and it's uh great because like we're
1866s actually going to be going through all
1867s these aspects today in the uh the live
1871s stream with our our our kind of our
1873s subject matter experts across each of
1875s them so I know as we mentioned uh next
1878s week the vessel of hatred will actually
1880s be shipping uh and be release to
1882s everyone uh right now the plan is for it
1885s to be out on October 8th and that is
1886s still very much the plan the plan uh we
1889s actually did release a uh a map uh
1893s earlier this week in our what you need
1894s to know blog uh that kind of pretty much
1897s contains exactly when uh each of the
1899s release dates are are going to be but uh
1901s players can actually end up doing early
1903s download right now on uh PC battl net we
1906s do have uh early download coming up for
1908s console uh this weekend on the 5th so
1911s there's a lot of stuff coming down the
1913s pipe uh a lot of excitement going on the
1915s other thing that we did talk about as
1917s well is uh twitch Dr DRS uh we do have a
1919s twitch drops campaign that is actually
1921s starting uh at the launch of vessel of
1924s hatred it's actually going to be
1925s starting on October 8th in uh Pacific
1927s time so it's about like 12 16 hours
1930s somewhere around there afterwards but
1931s there's some really cool back pieces
1933s really cool weapons that you can earn
1934s and it goes throughout the whole entire
1936s month of October through like that F
1938s first early part of uh November we also
1941s have a support of streamer program this
1942s time around uh which is really cool
1944s because sport of streamer actually
1946s really helps out some of the smaller
1947s streamers that are actually
1949s to uh you know stream Diablo which is
1952s really great if you two subs for or or
1955s if you actually purchase two subs across
1957s any streamer that is streaming across
1959s Diablo 4 and has this enabled uh you'll
1961s end up receiving uh the mount that we
1963s actually just showed right there and
1965s then if you do an additional two you
1967s actually get the mount armor as well so
1968s it's a really cool way of helping out
1970s some of the the the smaller and midsize
1972s streamers out there that uh you know
1974s really benefit from some of these
1975s programs and it's it's great to see all
1977s these new faces as they actually jump
1979s into vessel of hatred um the next thing
1982s we do also want to talk about is a cool
1984s promotion that we're actually doing with
1985s trolley here in the US uh trolley
1988s actually makes uh some uh candy uh so
1992s they're like sour bright crawlers and
1993s things like that uh there's actually
1995s some really cool uh uh weapon skins
1998s available if you actually purchase uh
2001s trolley uh specific products here in the
2003s US uh we actually have them here uh on
2007s set but you can see all the cool weapon
2009s skins but if you actually purchase these
2011s and you'll see that they're clearly
2012s marked with like Diablo 4 they got the
2014s spirit born on them and you can actually
2017s end up taking a photo of your receipt
2019s going to a specific site and then you'll
2021s end up getting uh kind of the rewards in
2023s game and you also have a chance of
2024s actually winning an Xbox too which is
2026s really cool so uh and this is a cool
2028s promotion that I think Xbox is actually
2030s doing across multitudes of titles
2032s including like World of Warcraft for
2033s instance cuz this was actually going on
2035s with the war within uh here at blizzard
2037s so uh yeah like if you're in the US uh
2040s look for trolley products thankfully we
2042s have a whole bunch of bags here so
2044s expect me to actually be eating these or
2046s seven bags last two days as we've been
2049s like prepping for the stream like this
2050s has been my whole entire diet uh
2053s actually no I I've been eating normal
2055s food but at the same time this is like
2057s my My Kryptonite right here so uh expect
2059s me to be eating these throughout the
2061s stream I it's my favorite stream because
2063s we have snacks now so I'm like this is
2065s perfect this is perfect um but one one
2068s thing again we wanted to mention which
2070s is the release date and I think we have
2072s a release date map here uh so yeah as
2075s you guys can see on October 7th in
2077s Irvine at 4 p.m. Pacific or Pacific Time
2080s or California time if you want to say it
2083s uh is when the actual uh uh expansion is
2085s going to be launching this is a global
2088s launch so everyone is coming out at the
2090s same time uh the world is round so you
2093s can't get everyone in on October 8th so
2096s that's why there's some in October 7th
2099s but we wanted to make sure that we could
2101s get as many people in on October 8th and
2104s of course a little earlier on October
2105s 7th but everyone's coming out at the
2107s exact same time so uh looking forward to
2110s everyone jumping in um we do have an
2112s actionpack show today a lot of stuff to
2114s cover um we are going to be hitting up
2117s on the uh patch 2.0 PTR changes first as
2122s first up in the agenda because we have
2124s so many things to share I will know this
2126s is our 20th live stream for for for
2130s Diablo 4 that we've ever done which is
2132s really cool and this is also our first
2133s time we're actually streaming on Tik Tok
2136s uh we we already stream on X we stream
2137s on Twitch and we stream on YouTube so uh
2140s this is kind of a nice momentous
2142s occasion but because of how much content
2145s we have and how many guests we have um
2148s we are going to say that we will have
2150s some small little breaks while we
2152s actually mic new people up bring them
2154s into the studio and then swap them out
2157s for other things but we are going to be
2159s talking first about uh patch 2.0 PTR and
2162s the feedback that we actually receiv
2163s received from players and then
2164s separately we're also going to be
2165s talking about uh season six season of
2168s hatred Rising uh and separately we will
2171s finish off the show with uh all the
2173s vessel of hatred features and going into
2175s a little bit more of a deeper dive
2176s something that you were talking about
2177s Brent so oh yeah I can't wait I mean we
2179s have so many people coming in that we're
2181s having to pack them in rast yeah exactly

2280s this a couple times throughout this
2281s stream but we're here to talk about the
2284s PTR learnings from patch 2.0 PTR which
2287s we had earlier this month super
2289s beneficial uh ptrs have been great for
2292s us since we've started uh actually
2294s hosting them for Diablo I and of course
2297s this one was a very very big one because
2298s we have a lot of big changes coming with
2300s vessel of hatred in season 6 uh but I
2303s know we want to jump right straight or
2305s jump straight into it so uh aen uh I
2308s know you're going to start us off and
2309s talk about some progression changes yes
2311s I am so let's yeah like you said Adam
2314s let's jump oh you actually before we do
2316s that sorry sorry sorry I just realized
2317s no one knows who we are yeah know I
2321s there we go there I was just like wait a
2322s minute um of course we have some
2324s familiar faces but if you guys want to
2325s do quick intros yeah yeah hi I'm Colin
2328s I'm a lead designer hey I'm aen I'm a
2330s systems designer hi I'm Charles I'm a
2333s class designer hey y'all I'm Anthony I'm
2335s an associate class designer awesome
2339s great there we go now we got everyone
2341s settled uh Asen do you want to talk
2343s about some of the progression changes
2344s yes absolutely So Adam like you said uh
2348s the PTR has been just fantastic for us
2351s it's given us so much data and the
2352s feedback you guys give is just pivotal
2355s um to us launching uh in the state we
2357s want to see the game in and you know
2359s everyone wants to see the game in um and
2361s so yeah let's talk about it let's talk
2363s about some changes we've made because of
2365s it uh so first of all Monster intensity
2368s something we saw in the early game was
2370s people weren't noticing the changes in
2372s Monster intensity because people were
2374s skipping through difficulties fairly
2375s quickly and so we've decided to move
2377s monster intensity from scaling over uh
2380s normal hard expert impenitent to scaling
2382s over torment 1 through four because
2384s you're going to be progressing through
2385s torments a little bit slower so you're
2387s going to be able to feel the intensity
2388s changes I think a little more potently
2390s yeah there's a bit more jumps right yeah
2393s yeah absolutely and again the intensity
2395s system was essentially monsters just
2397s become a little bit reliable in their
2398s damage sort to predict your movement a
2400s little bit more on the projectiles um
2402s it's not a massive change but it should
2404s sort of make the monsters feel a little
2406s bit more aggressive and and dangerous
2408s yeah they just become a little more
2409s lethal I think ultimately uh Beyond you
2412s know numerical changes uh second up I
2414s want to talk about is uh one that I'm
2416s really really happy and excited about
2417s actually is that Elites unique Elites
2420s and super Elites are three different
2422s types of Elites you can actually fight
2424s uh if if you know that or not that's the
2426s thing um um and previously they all did
2430s very different amounts of damage from
2431s one another like for example a super
2433s Elite might deal actually two times the
2435s amount of damage of a normal Elite and
2437s what that was causing was when an elite
2439s spawned in AIX like lightning Enchanted
2442s uh or poison or whatever um the super
2446s Elites would do two times more damage
2448s with those affixes but you didn't really
2450s have any way to tell right there was no
2452s way to tell if an AIX was spawned by an
2455s elite or a super Elite and so kind of
2457s seeming randomly an AIX might deal two
2459s times more damage to uh to you out of
2461s nowhere and so what we've done is we've
2463s normalized the damage that all of these
2465s different Elite types actually deal so
2467s that when you do see the affixes that
2469s they're they're spewing out you can
2471s expect the damage you're going to
2472s receive like you know how much it's
2474s going to hit you more consistent way
2476s more consistent way more predictable
2477s which is really helpful for not getting
2479s randomly one
2481s shot those yeah yeah um and then finally
2485s on difficulty we have uh some changes to
2489s standard difficulty tiers we know some
2491s of you guys are looking for a challenge
2493s so let's take a look at what a challenge
2495s looks
2496s like all right so we have a level one
2498s character here in Kovash Shad going to
2500s the Statue to change their difficulty so
2503s what are they going to change it to well
2505s before they could access hard exp uh
2508s normal hard and expert but now they can
2510s access penitence at level one mod we
2514s only play
2515s yeah why would you play anything else
2518s yes so you have to beat the uh base
2521s campaign on your account once and then
2523s you can go into penitent and let's see
2524s how that turns out for this person oh
2526s yeah you hell TI just a few de oh a few
2530s too many demons just a couple few too
2532s many demons Mythic unique so so you can
2537s do penitence at level one now it's
2539s pretty hard guys so if you plan to go on
2541s a level one be prepared but seriously we
2544s know people really wanted to be able to
2546s push their builds uh as far as they
2548s could as early as they could and now you
2550s can so whenever you feel like you're
2552s ready for penitent during your leveling
2553s Journey hop in there and see how you do
2556s yeah I know that was like one of the
2557s biggest points of feedback we got during
2559s this PTR which was like Hey we'd like to
2561s see if penitent wasn't like gated way
2564s further down the line and if it could be
2565s brought in so it's now available at
2567s level one um and you know as we've shown
2570s in the footage it can be difficult but I
2572s think what's nice is like if someone
2573s creates alts and they end up you know
2575s finding a bunch of Mythic uniques and
2576s stuff which you can use at earlier
2578s levels um you then can at least uh uh
2581s potentially start off in pen and a
2583s little bit earlier and and you know stay
2586s with a higher difficulty in that type of
2587s way which is nice oh yeah yeah we really
2590s want to embrace like the sort of choose
2591s your difficulty that we really liked
2593s with the mine cages in season five four
2595s and five and again like to your point
2598s alts just are able to speedrun their way
2600s to max level right by playing at a
2601s really hard difficulty so should feel a
2603s lot better and it feels great to just
2605s hop into peniton early like when you're
2606s capable of doing it's awesome yeah we do
2610s we don't necessarily expect everyone to
2612s play penet it's really hard so play Risk
2616s yeah yes yeah you need your character
2618s needs to be pretty pretty pretty good
2620s yeah yeah all right let's talk about
2623s some itemization changes so we got a lot
2625s of feedback that once you got to max
2627s level uh and you were you know starting
2629s that ancestral grind you were stuck with
2631s these non-ancestral items for a pretty
2632s long time uh and we do like that but we
2635s know that we uh people want to see the
2638s journey for those non-ancestral items to
2639s be a little punchier um and so we've
2642s made some targeted changes here to
2644s ensure that non-ancestral legendaries
2646s have more uh well punch to them uh so
2649s we've increased the amount of massw
2651s working you can put on a non-ancestral
2653s legendary from 4 to 8 we are also
2656s allowing them to be tempered twice
2658s previously both of those values were uh
2661s exclusive to ancestral items but now
2663s non-ancestral can go up to that um
2666s additionally we saw that people were
2668s going to like the boss ladder or they
2670s were just finding uniques out in the
2672s world um and they didn't drop as it
2675s didn't feel like they were dropping as
2677s ancestral as often as they should have
2679s right cuz they're so rare right they're
2680s so rare and you know you want finding a
2682s uni uh unique item to be an exciting
2684s moment and uh so we've tripled the
2687s chance for them to drop as ancestral and
2689s this should help a lot especially during
2691s the boss ladder you know when you're
2692s killing uh these these Uber bosses and
2694s they're dropping lots of uniques a lot
2696s more of them are going to turn out to be
2698s ancestral definitely and this should
2700s mean that once you're starting and
2702s around level 60 you have a lot more
2704s progression on your equipment that sort
2705s of bridges the Gap to ancestral we also
2707s heard a lot of feedback that that se
2709s second tempered aex really is what
2711s enables your build to come online and
2713s that's what we're trying to do with the
2714s system of ancestral is that you can get
2716s your build online but then there's still
2718s items that you can chase that just
2720s enhance that build right we saw that
2722s like not having that second tempered AIX
2724s and not having those eight Masterwork
2725s ranks really sort of hindered your
2727s ability to get that build online to get
2729s into the fun and start blasting yeah no
2731s that's a great point because we don't
2732s want you to feel like you have to find
2734s ancestral for your build to function um
2736s and you know this change is working
2738s towards making that true definitely so
2740s you still have those items you can chase
2742s but you can still get those endgame
2743s builds online pretty quickly yep for
2746s sure uh and finally on itemization we
2749s are adding some Scrolls of restoration
2751s to the season Journey uh the Scrolls of
2753s restoration are the Scrolls of tempering
2756s uh that we talked about at Gamescom you
2758s can use them to um reset the uh
2762s tempering chances on an item uh and we
2765s wanted to add these to the season
2767s Journey so you could just have a couple
2768s of deterministic ways to acquire them uh
2771s and use them on your
2772s gear and this of course is not the only
2775s place you can earn these swir
2777s Restorations you know you can earn them
2779s throughout the world there's a there's a
2780s small drop chance and we'll be actually
2782s talking about another way of earning
2783s them later on as well so definitely yeah
2786s so I I think one thing that I'm excited
2788s about on the unique changes if you
2789s equate greater aexes in season 5 to
2792s ancestral you're actually going to have
2794s a higher chance to get an ancestral
2796s unique um compared to getting a greater
2798s aex on a unique than live right so it
2800s means that uniques are really exciting
2802s you might actually get um like the staff
2804s of endless rage for example maybe you're
2806s not playing a fireball sorc but now
2808s you're like oh well I have an ancestral
2810s version of this unique
2812s huge so really like kind of gets you to
2815s experiment a little bit more and we
2816s really like that aspect about those
2818s uniques sometimes being a lot more
2820s powerful yeah no it's it's we we want
2823s that moment when you see a unique on the
2825s ground to be really fun and exciting and
2827s seeing it drop as an ancestral with
2829s greater fixes is about as exciting as it
2831s gets for uniques so that's pretty
2834s cool all right let's talk about some
2836s player power changes based on PTR
2838s feedback so I want to start by Framing
2841s our goals uh for torment difficulties so
2845s torment one we want all content to be
2848s available in the game you can fight
2849s Lilith you can fight the boss slider you
2851s can go to the dark Citadel you know Etc
2853s all these activities are available
2855s tourament 4 is intended to be
2857s aspirational content and what that means
2859s is you've already unlocked everything in
2861s the game when you enter tournament 1 but
2863s torment 4 is like the essence of Diablo
2867s like build crafting where you're just
2868s pushing your character as far as you can
2870s go and torment 4 exists for that purpose
2873s for people who want to push their
2875s character as far as they can go and with
2877s that said and the reason why I'm saying
2879s this is because we were seeing that
2881s people were getting to torment 4 way
2883s faster and way easier than we were
2884s hoping for in the PTR and you know which
2887s is just another great like it's great
2889s that we did the PTR because we saw that
2891s um and with that all said we've made
2893s some changes to kind of keep torment for
2895s this you know really challenging and
2897s exciting thing to reach um uh We've
2901s we've reverted the uh skill damage bonus
2904s from mainat back to what it was in
2906s season 5 so we had actually doubled it
2908s in the PTR but we found that that was
2910s just giving players too much power too
2912s uh so we sent it back um and we also
2915s pulled back on legendary glyph power a
2916s bit col do you want to talk about that
2918s yeah so we reduced the scaling on the
2920s glyphs quite a bit because we found that
2921s it was really devaluing a lot of the
2924s aspect roles or roles on your gear like
2926s when you're getting 2,000 additive
2928s damage from a glyph it's really hard to
2929s actually feel anything on your gear
2931s through tempering or through those aics
2933s that are dropping um so essentially what
2935s we've done is pair that back we
2937s redistribute it we'll cover that a
2938s little bit on like where we' put some of
2940s that power but overall we think this
2941s feels a lot better glyphs aren't just
2943s carrying like 80% of your power on a
2945s build and it just feels a lot better so
2947s that it doesn't feel as sort of
2949s mandatory that I have to get all five
2950s glyphs and level them up to actually be
2952s pushing difficulty it's a lot more about
2954s what are the aspects you have what are
2956s the uniques you have what are the nodes
2958s you're actually getting on the Paragon
2959s board you think it feels a lot better
2961s yeah and like I think one of the
2962s important things to say about this is
2963s that like it's really awesome to get a
2965s tremendous amount of power from One
2967s Source but because there are so many
2969s different sources of power in the game
2971s if one source gives too much power it
2973s makes the other sources feel kind of
2975s unimportant um and that's not fun so we
2978s want to make sure that every source of
2979s power in the game is contributing to
2981s your build in very meaningful ways and
2983s so this change is helping other sources
2985s of power feel really Punchy definitely
2989s yeah awesome I know uh uh tons of
2992s changes here with player power uh tons
2994s of changes with like progression uh in
2997s including difficulty and itemization um
3000s do we have anything else on progression
3002s or I think one thing I think that's
3004s really important to touch on is the
3006s torment goals here right cuz it it's a
3008s definite fundamental shift from season 5
3011s and that you think about world tier 3
3013s into World tier 4 and you're sort of
3015s racing to get to world tier 4 as fast as
3017s possible because that's where all the
3018s best items can drop yeah and we've sort
3020s of just changed that to torment 1 is
3022s where all the best items can drop it's
3023s where everything unlocks um but
3025s essentially tourament 2 three and for
3027s increase the odds of those things
3029s happening so it's just efficiency right
3031s um we don't necessarily want to say You
3033s must get to torment 4 to experience the
3035s game or to get the best drops in the
3037s game similar similar to World tier 4 in
3039s season 5 it's very different feeling so
3041s we're we're excited to see how that
3042s plays out and we want to sort of um see
3045s what you all think as well yeah and just
3047s to to reiterate you know all of the
3049s content all of the best gear can be
3051s found in torment one so if that's where
3053s your build feels most comfortable
3054s farming that's great you can still
3056s achieve all your your goals you can
3057s really max out your character there it
3059s just you get a reward for pushing this
3061s harder difficulty by more efficiency
3064s yeah and that's like what affords Tor 4
3067s the means to or like the space to be
3069s really hard is because you don't have to
3071s get there and so it can be really really
3073s challenging and you know some players
3074s really love that and that's awesome
3077s definitely awesome well I know uh the
3080s next topic we want to talk about is some
3082s of the big system changes that are
3083s actually coming uh with um uh vessel of
3087s hatred but and also changes that we're
3089s we're applying post PTR from things that
3092s we actually learned Colin you want to
3094s walk us through um and start us off with
3096s some of the Paragon stuff yeah
3098s absolutely so again we got a ton of
3100s feedback from the PTR and we took a look
3102s at Paragon um that was one of the bigger
3104s changes that we made where we Capp the
3105s boards um because we feel like that
3107s gives us a lot more space to increase
3108s the power of each of these boards and
3110s make the choice more about what is the
3111s board you're looking for um so what
3113s we've done here is we've added a bunch
3115s of normal notes so the are things like
3117s stats that Empower those glyphs to
3119s upgrade that legendary glyph radius we
3121s added them was kind of sad like there
3123s weren't actually a lot of nodes to flush
3124s it out and sort of build up that Paragon
3127s that extra glyph range that you're going
3128s to get from upgrading it to Legendary so
3130s we've done that we added around eight to
3132s every board um and then the starting
3134s board I think we went to like 12 or
3135s something like that just cuz you know um
3137s the starting board should feel really
3139s good with that first glyph um the next
3141s thing we've done is we've taken a look
3142s at a lot of the rare and Magic nodes and
3144s we've just made them generically more
3146s useful so you think about like
3148s two-handed bludgeoning damage on the
3150s Barbarian is like okay like I guess I
3152s guess I can only benefit if I'm doing
3154s this one very specific thing and we've
3156s just open that up to say damage right
3158s that's going to scale everything across
3159s your character as opposed to like while
3161s you're doing this sort of obscure thing
3164s um so we think that feels a lot better
3165s we've also just sort of taken a look at
3168s what are the affixes we're giving like
3169s potion healing like I know
3172s you're all going to be really sad my I
3175s know you're all super sad to see
3178s potion healing out but we've just
3179s changed it to Healing received we've
3181s also just taken a look at things like
3183s damage reduction from dots and made it
3184s damage reduction so it should be a lot
3186s more generically useful and those boards
3188s should feel a lot more Punchy and
3189s open-ended which we really like and
3191s that's sort of doubling down on the SP
3193s of what we've done with season 4
3195s itemization right just sort of taking
3197s back some of these conditional things
3198s aren't necessarily adding a ton of value
3200s to your build identity just opening
3202s things up and then the next thing we've
3204s done is I we talked about redistributing
3206s some of the power on those glyphs and
3208s we've taken a look at all of our nodes
3210s all the magic and rare nodes and we've
3211s just buffed all of them so we've doubled
3212s all the additive bonuses on rare and
3214s Magic nodes um we've increased the
3216s damage reduction values by about 1.5x so
3219s they should feel a lot more chunky and
3221s as you're journeying through Paragon
3223s right it should feel like you have more
3224s options than to just bum rush every
3226s glyph socket and every legendary node
3228s there should be some pretty Punchy like
3230s um damage sources that you can get uh
3233s damage reduction sources you can get
3235s we've also done things like all the
3237s resistance nodes you have um on the
3239s Paragon board actually give Max
3240s resistance as well now so it's pretty
3242s powerful we've done a lot of changes
3244s there um so this is one of the first
3246s steps we're taking to really improve the
3248s Paragon system uh with the new sort of
3250s philosophy of like we want you to pick
3251s what boards you want um and and we
3254s expect to be updating more in the future
3256s oh yeah absolutely and I think that this
3257s hearkens back to what we were just
3259s saying which is that you know it's
3260s really fun for all of your sources of
3262s power to be meaningful and so we're
3264s basically just taking like the tons and
3267s tons of power that was in glyphs and
3268s kind of slightly redistributing it to uh
3271s Paragon so going through your Paragon
3273s board is just more interesting and fun
3275s definitely cool um next up we got I
3278s think infernal hordes yes yeah so if you
3281s remember uh infernal hords was under
3283s construction during the PTR as we were
3285s fitting in like how does how does this
3286s going to work with the greater equipment
3288s chest turning in into ancestral items um
3292s and there are three things that we
3293s really wanted to tackle as a part of of
3295s this release right infernal hordes is in
3297s Eternal game mode so we wanted to take
3299s the learnings we got from season 5 and
3300s apply it to um this next update so one
3303s of the things we saw was that loot was
3305s just dominating the reward landscape
3307s here like getting 200 legendaries from
3310s one source of activity is is cool for
3312s season 5 and it's the brand new activity
3313s for season 5 that's awesome but we
3316s wanted to just readjust it refit it back
3318s in we still have the Codex of power that
3320s lets you store all these legendary
3321s Powers so we felt like we wanted to take
3323s more of a quality over quantity approach
3325s here and one of the the things that was
3327s sort of frustrating about that quality
3329s Miss um was that you didn't really have
3331s a way to reliably Target those unique
3333s items that were coming out of infernal
3334s hordes if you think about it you had to
3336s open a chest and just hope that you're
3337s going to get one of the unique items out
3339s of this um chest and uh that sort of led
3341s to a frustrating and tedious reward flow
3343s where you're just constantly opening up
3345s these 28 or chests over and over and
3346s over uh I know I I I've spent you know
3349s probably more time opening the material
3351s chest and actually I mean I think that's
3353s everyone's favorite pastime of just like
3354s running around the material chest down
3357s on the like oh my God give me my
3359s so it it takes forever um so we've
3363s taken a look at you know how we're going
3365s to actually um deliver these Keys we've
3368s taken them out of the crafting system
3369s but they're not too rare they're they're
3370s just uncommonly found throughout the
3372s world we want this to be like an oh
3373s moment when the key drops just cuz
3375s you're going to get a ton of XP from
3377s killing the hordes going to get a ton of
3378s materials and a a ton of items as well
3382s um so we think that's that that will
3383s make the keys feel a lot more
3385s interesting and it's not going to blow
3386s your as much you really want to use them
3388s when you get them um so the next part
3391s here is uh if we could go back to the
3393s slide oh if we could go to infal hordes
3396s there you go um the council boss no
3398s matter what as long as you kill that
3399s Council um they're going to drop uh
3401s dungeon Boss Loot which is going to be
3403s legendaries crafting materials gold Etc
3406s on top of the infernal horde unique
3408s items and that's going to scale a
3409s torment so guaranteed every single time
3412s you kill that Council you going to get
3413s unique items that are specific to
3415s infernal WS that's great because those
3417s infernal horde uniques are pretty sick
3419s definitely so no more waiting at the
3420s chest to get that drop it's just going
3422s to happen and it it feels a lot more
3424s like the boss ladder where it's like
3425s okay I want to get infernal hord unique
3427s items I'm going to be able to reliably
3429s get those and get a pull at the the sort
3430s of slot machine there um and then the
3432s next thing here is we've updated the
3434s chests so the chests of Greater
3435s equipment are going to drop those
3437s Scrolls of uh restoration or retempering
3440s so you're going to be able to get them
3441s reliably from The Infernal hordes um not
3443s just uh the the dark Citadel and that
3445s that should feel pretty mediate and good
3447s and then we've also guaranteed some
3450s amount of ancestral items from that
3451s greater equipment chest and ancestral
3453s items are very much more coveted than
3455s just greater aex item so that should
3457s feel pretty meaty and then the chest of
3459s materials is now just going to convert
3460s all your Aether into materials you don't
3462s have to like constantly the
3465s CH turn it into a bunch of Master
3467s working materials gems it should feel a
3469s lot more Snappy and you know less time
3471s looting more time playing and the gold
3474s chest is the same yeah cuz yeah just
3477s givy punch uh next up I know we have um
3480s the the uh the rewards stff we we kind
3483s of spoiled
3484s your yeah so um so we can just skip this
3487s CU
3488s everyone's yeah um so rewards uh this is
3491s just a bunch of miscellaneous tuning and
3492s making the game feel better and more
3494s rewarding yeah um so we've significantly
3497s increased the ancestral drop rate from
3498s Nightmare Dungeons and Whispers thank
3500s you to the person who ran a thousand
3504s night definitely fix the the the problem
3507s there and that should feel a lot more
3509s rewarding um we've also added just
3511s experience to the nightmare dungeon
3512s completion which just feels better as we
3514s grinding that Paragon also while you're
3516s leveling up it's like a pretty good hit
3518s of XP and then we've also done uh
3520s miscellaneous Buffs to just
3521s miscellaneous things so hellborn will
3524s drop loot butcher is going to drop a
3526s guaranteed axe I believe a butcher's axe
3529s um the world boss treasure goblins those
3531s are all going to drop a lot better fot
3533s um it's also going to scale with torment
3534s which should feel good yeah I mean it
3536s makes sense for these like I guess the
3538s hellborn is not exactly a random
3539s encounter and I just the world boss but
3541s like the Butcher and the treasure go and
3542s these like big media encounters like it
3544s makes sense for like these to occur and
3546s you're like give me like good loot
3547s because this is uncommon this doesn't
3549s happen that frequently I want it to be
3551s amazing it it's an exciting moment and
3552s and the loot should reflect that yeah I
3554s love that loot explosion you know yeah
3557s treasure Goblin yeah yeah nothing beats
3559s finding a treasure Goblin at like level
3560s five you're just chasing it around using
3563s your like basic attack yeah and it
3564s guaranteed drops a legendary no matter
3567s what level you are so it should feel
3568s pretty good um the next thing here is we
3571s really love uh how players or how you
3574s all have sort of embrace the stronghold
3576s experience bonus um we've actually just
3577s done that across the game so campaign
3579s feels really good in terms of experience
3581s granted um side quest should feel really
3583s good especially in the hu um but what we
3585s saw with uh the stronghold experience in
3588s the PTR is that two levels felt a little
3590s bit aggressive and like sort of forced
3592s you to do strongholds over and over and
3594s over we've just paired that back down to
3595s 1.25
3597s levels which is still really meaty like
3598s you're getting an entire level from
3600s doing these um it's really fulfilling
3602s what we had hoped strongholds uh were
3604s going to provide which is an alternative
3606s means to level if you want to ride
3607s around the open world and do a bunch of
3608s strongholds that's absolutely a viable
3610s way to level up now um we think that
3612s like all the quest content in general
3614s just feels a lot better because they're
3615s a lot more generous there um the other
3617s change I'll note here is that a bulk of
3620s that experience is going to be from
3622s killing the boss and it's a first time
3624s reward so that means you're not going to
3625s be able to of you know cheese running
3628s strongholds over and over and over thank
3630s you thank you Rax for showing that with
3632s your your friends from your from your
3634s chat that that did that in 20 minutes
3637s we hey it was a good video I mean in all
3641s fairness cool um and then the next one
3644s here is we heard a ton of feedback that
3646s rare and magic items just felt like
3648s they're adding a lot of noise to
3649s tournament we're dropping a lot more of
3650s them um now they just get Auto salvaged
3652s and torment hooray so get them out of
3655s here yeah get them out um and then the
3657s next one is just a nice quality of life
3659s the Paragon glyphs now drop from the pit
3661s so when you're doing a bunch of pit runs
3662s you're also going to be getting glyphs
3664s you just means you don't really have to
3665s like go out and do other things if you
3667s have a bunch of keys for the pit yeah I
3668s mean that's really nice too because you
3670s know theoretically you could enter the
3671s pit and not actually have a glyph but
3673s now you will so you can find one and
3675s level it up if that's what happens
3677s awesome and I know last but not least we
3679s have kind of itemization CRA this is
3681s some some big stuff here um uh that I
3683s know will excite players for sure yeah
3686s so one of the things we've heard a ton
3688s um from the uh the player base and and
3690s you all is that uh I wish I could make a
3693s Mythic unique deterministically if I do
3696s everything at a season if I kill Uber
3698s Lilith if I do The Season's journey I
3700s want to be able to get a Mythic unique
3701s and we saw this as an opportunity to
3704s essentially create an identity between
3706s the Rune crafting of Mythic uniques and
3708s the blacksmith we moved it from The
3710s Alchemist to the blacksmith um the
3711s blacksmith version of crafting Mythic
3713s uniques so now what you're going to be
3715s able to do is you're going to able to
3716s take two respondent Sparks to the
3718s blacksmith and get a random Mythic
3720s unique that means no matter what as long
3721s as you do everything in the season
3723s you're going to get a Mythic unique and
3725s if you take those respondent Sparks and
3726s you decide I really want a specific
3728s Mythic unique um you'll be able to take
3730s a set of runes and actually pick which
3732s one and what that does is uh the runes
3735s are a lot more flexible they can be
3736s traded you can also get some incremental
3738s progress right because they drop a lot
3740s more frequently than Mythic unique or
3741s Sparks in general um so what this means
3744s is you now have two really clear means
3746s to ort of Target U Mythic uniques and
3748s you know you now have a guaranteed way
3750s to make a Mythic unique at the end of a
3751s season which we think will feel really
3752s good something that's kind of cool about
3754s that is that it gives runes this like
3755s intrinsic trade value which I kind of
3758s love like they they have this big
3760s purpose uh towards crafting one of the
3763s best items in the game which is really
3764s cool I finally finally can get my uh
3767s starless Skies
3769s yeah cool um and then the next one here
3772s is you're going to be getting a lot of
3774s Salvage and torment because everything
3775s is getting Auto salvaged so we figured
3777s you know what we should probably give
3779s you some purpose and value to that
3781s Salvage and now you can take it to the
3782s blacksmith and Forge random legendary
3784s equipment at the blacksmith yeah this is
3786s huge I love this change and it also has
3788s a chance to be unique or Mythic and
3791s sometimes in sual so it's uh it's
3794s definitely a great place to dump all
3796s that Salvage excess Salvage that you
3797s have um and then the next one here is
3800s more just sort of a quality of life and
3801s nicity we added runes and we're putting
3804s way more sockets on gear uh we allowed
3806s you to add sockets to gear with just the
3808s general Salvage material you don't need
3810s scattered prisms anymore um scattered
3812s prisms are required for ancestral items
3815s uh and that just essentially means you
3816s know ah I'm missing a socket you can
3818s pretty add easily add one um and then
3820s the next one here is uh mostly quality
3822s of life for alt characters but the
3823s Jeweler no longer has a level
3825s requirement to engage with the Jeweler
3827s um previously on the PTR you had to like
3828s trade gear to your main character out of
3830s socket it was super uh tedious and uh we
3833s we just uh made it not like that awesome
3836s so tons of big changes coming across
3838s multitude of systems within uh D4 thanks
3841s to a lot of great feedback that we got
3842s from all the players within the
3844s community content creators Etc so thank
3846s you guys so much for that thank you
3847s Colin for walking us through that uh
3849s next up we want to talk about some of
3851s the the class uh changes and everything
3853s and so uh Charles here is going to walk
3855s us through it yeah I'd love to talk
3857s about some of the class changes that we
3858s saw in the PTR once again I want to
3860s thank all of the players uh who you know
3862s gave a lot of detail uh detailed
3863s feedback a lot of data on you know how
3866s classes were performing all the
3867s different builds and the new new items
3869s new effects and all that kind of stuff
3871s new skills um it's been really helpful
3873s and in helping to make sure that we make
3875s uh all our class designs as as fun and
3877s engaging as possible uh I do want to say
3880s that you know this patch is is huge
3882s there's lots of changes you know as I
3883s said a lot of new class stuff but a lot
3885s of new system stuff across the whole
3886s game uh and so we do expect some level
3889s of like volatility here and you know uh
3891s when a lot of things change there's a
3893s lot of unknowns and so um that's just
3896s the the mindset we're we're approaching
3897s this patch with uh and what I'm going to
3900s be talking about here is not a complete
3902s detailed list of everything that we've
3903s changed from the PTR to live uh it's
3906s just kind of some samples and kind of
3907s talking through our learnings and what
3909s we saw on the class design team and what
3910s we're thinking about uh and so make sure
3913s you check out the full patch notes once
3914s we're done with the stream uh and also
3917s if you uh a lot of the changes came in
3919s the PTR initially so definitely check
3920s out those if you're unfamiliar because
3922s there's tons of class changes there as
3924s well oh yeah so uh starting with the
3927s Barbarian uh we generally saw that
3929s Barbarian class was a little bit too
3931s weak on the PTR and I think even on
3934s season 5 I think it's just generally
3935s considered a little too weak um
3937s historically though it's it's been one
3939s of our stronger classes uh but you know
3941s in recent Seasons it's Fallen a little
3942s bit on harder times so a lot of our
3944s Focus here is uh Buffs to some underuse
3947s utilized skills and legendaries and
3948s uniques so we've got updates to upheaval
3950s to make it just a little bit more Punchy
3952s hits a little bit harder uh we've got
3954s updates to some of the uniques that talk
3956s to other core skills um like uh hammer
3959s of the Ancients and double swing to to
3960s give them a little bit more damage boost
3962s as well and finally there's a a buff to
3965s the Marshall Vigor passive that is a
3967s passive in the skill tree that gives you
3969s some damage reduction from Elite enemies
3970s including bosses and it might seem
3973s pretty small on paper it's just 4% to 6%
3975s but for every skill rank you have in
3977s that you get that much more and really
3979s when you're fighting the late game
3980s tormented bosses and high torment tiers
3983s it's going to be a pretty noticeable
3984s amount of survivability uh against those
3986s fights for barbarians yeah those passive
3987s skills add up really quickly when you
3989s start getting a bunch of ranks in them
3991s and stuff so for sure absolutely uh
3993s moving on to the Druid uh we also think
3995s the Druid was a little bit on the weaker
3997s end of the classes um I think there was
4000s a few bugs on the PTR that that we're
4002s addressing as we go live uh where some
4004s of their their effects um specifically
4006s in the Paragon and some of the key
4008s passives weren't quite working exactly
4010s how we intended uh so they might have
4012s been a little bit weaker due to that on
4013s the PTR specifically uh so we're
4015s definitely addressing those um I also
4017s want to talk about Nature's Fury this is
4020s a key passive that uh whenever you cast
4022s an earth or storm skill there's a chance
4024s to cast uh the same skill of or uh to
4027s chance to cast a skill of the opposite
4029s type and uh this was causing some
4031s unintended interactions with one of the
4033s unique items the the earthbreaker ring
4036s that ended up uh proing or triggering
4038s Nature's Fury way more often than we
4040s intended uh that's because we we have
4042s this concept of casts um where you
4044s actually need to press the button and
4046s then hey you did one cast um and we
4049s whenever we do something like autoc
4050s casts which is like hey I I triggered a
4053s free skill with Nature's Fury that
4055s shouldn't kind of recursively Trigger or
4057s or trigger the um other effects that are
4059s looking for casts um but in that
4061s particular interaction it was and so
4063s we've uh fixed that interaction but then
4065s thrown some uh some pretty big Buffs to
4068s those items and and the uh things
4069s affected in that build we still expect
4072s those kind of things especially
4073s Landslide builds that use this a lot to
4075s still be very powerful builds going
4077s forward but we just didn't want that one
4079s particular unintended interaction to be
4080s happening and that kind of over shines
4083s you know all the builds right when you
4085s have like one build that's you know
4087s crazy over you know the top so exactly
4090s yeah especially whenever there's one
4092s build that's so dominant that it really
4094s makes it feel like hey I'm playing the
4095s class wrong if I'm not doing this and
4097s that's not something that we want we
4098s want you to be able to play all the
4100s different ways of playing the classes
4101s and and feel like it's it's a valid and
4103s and viable choice to to compete um or to
4106s complete the
4107s game uh some of the other changes on
4109s Druid as well we've got uh some updates
4112s to Great staff of the Crone this is a
4114s one of my favorite items that lets your
4116s your claw and storm strike build kind of
4118s synergize really nicely um we've got uh
4121s just a lot more damage on werewolf
4122s skills through the Lust For Carnage
4124s Paragon node basically the same
4125s functionality but just added 50% bonus
4127s damage there we saw werewolfs was was
4130s particularly falling behind and an
4132s update to the Untamed par legendary
4134s Paragon node this is the new one that
4136s talks to companion skills uh previously
4138s it just gave skill ranks which uh kind
4140s of fell off as you got a lot of skill
4141s ranks now it's just multiplicative
4143s damage and I'm really looking forward to
4144s seeing uh some companion DRS in the new
4147s season especially with the new key
4149s passive all right uh moving on to the
4151s Necromancer so the Necromancer is a
4154s class that I think we saw a lot of
4156s variety for like blood bone and Shadow
4158s builds uh a lot of those were competing
4160s very well but Necromancer is really all
4163s about minions right and unfortunately we
4165s saw minion builds really falling behind
4167s from where we want and and we know that
4169s that minion builds are like the you know
4171s the most appealing part of a necromancer
4173s and so on the class design team we're
4175s really committed to to making sure that
4176s you know minion Necromancer is good and
4179s we're going to you know see some massive
4180s Buffs to this patch and we're going to
4182s continue monitoring to make sure that
4184s you know the minion fantasy is really a
4186s powerful and compelling one we also saw
4188s that Necromancer was one of the
4190s squishier classes it it had a little bit
4191s less defensive um oomph than we really
4194s wanted and so we've made some updates
4196s here uh to reap it's going to give a
4198s little bit longer damage reduction just
4200s makes that a little bit more usable for
4201s that um that function same with necrotic
4204s fortitude gives a little bit more
4205s barrier this is kind of a passive
4206s barrier generation so just a little bit
4208s more survivability in that late game and
4211s then the rest of it here is just talking
4212s about minion Buffs right we've got uh
4214s kalin's edict the key passive this is
4216s going to uh previously it just gave you
4218s attack speed for your minions now it's
4220s also going to give you bonus
4221s multiplicative damage for all your
4223s minions a bunch of the legendaries and
4225s uniques that talked to minions like ring
4227s of Mandel and shade Mist that damage is
4229s now properly attributed to your minions
4232s rather than the Necromancer themselves
4234s which means if you have bonus Golem
4236s damage for instance and your Golem
4238s sugars ring of menel it's now going to
4240s benefit properly and it's going to be
4241s multiplied up by those those multipliers
4243s so pretty big Buffs for those
4245s legendaries and uniques yeah that's a
4246s lot of power for sure oh
4249s absolutely um so uh moving on we've got
4251s uh next class we'll talk about the Rogue
4254s uh I think the Rogue in general was uh
4256s performing pretty well across the board
4257s in the PTR I think we got a lot of
4259s positive feedback like hey yeah Rogue
4260s feels great like just you know um wi yes
4265s the dance of knives skill in particular
4267s it's awesome yeah was really happy with
4270s where dance of knives landed um as the
4272s new skill it found a lot of use in in a
4274s variety of builds and and people have a
4275s lot of fun playing with it uh we did
4277s notice a little bit of the the melee
4279s Focus builds with flurry and twisting
4282s blades falling behind just a little bit
4284s uh so a few of our here are focused on
4287s enhancing the legendaries that talk to
4289s those two encircling blades and blade
4291s dancers in terms of key passives we saw
4294s victimize did have a bug that caused its
4296s damage scaling to be uh higher than
4298s intended and so we we fixed that that
4301s math calculation on on how it kind of
4303s scales damage based on other damage uh
4305s because it was really just a little bit
4307s too dominant and now we think with this
4308s update it'll still be a competitive
4310s choice but it won't completely outshine
4312s every other key passive on the on the on
4314s the Rogue
4316s and some nice little Buffs here to rain
4317s of arrows uh just to make it work a
4319s little bit better with imbuement skills
4321s uh love me some some rain of arrows it's
4323s very flashy skill especially with all
4324s those colors with the uh the imbuements
4326s on
4327s it all right and uh finally the sorcerer
4330s uh the sorcerer was definitely the
4332s strongest class I think we saw on the
4333s PTR uh by a fair margin just a little
4336s bit you it was it was quite strong um
4339s people are having a lot of fun with um
4341s sorcerer builds uh especially with the
4343s new key passive Enlightenment and uh
4346s Enlightenment had an issue where it it's
4348s all about alternating skill cast Okay
4350s you cast a fire skill you cast a
4351s lightning skill you cast a cold skill
4353s and you get these Stacks really quickly
4355s uh unfortunately it was stacking up
4356s unintentionally from some of those autoc
4358s casts that we were talking about earlier
4359s with uh Nature's Fury where uh when you
4362s trigger bonus uh casts from like
4365s unstable currents it was actually
4366s ramping up the enlightenment way too
4368s fast and so we fixed that interaction
4370s but we think despite that Enlightenment
4373s is still one of the strongest key
4374s passive of
4376s um uh so it's just brings it down a
4378s little bit um but we still think this is
4379s going to be really powerful and
4381s compelling new uh new key passive to
4384s play with once we go live two other
4386s changes here with the flame Scar and
4388s Oculus uniques uh this is kind of adding
4392s in this chance to deal double damage
4394s affixes for incinerate and teleport
4398s respectively this uh Harkens back to
4400s what uh I talked about on the PTR stream
4403s uh where we're adding these
4404s multiplicative damage bonuses into
4406s tempering for weapons and of course we
4409s can't temper onto unique items but for a
4412s lot of the unique items that are about
4414s very specific skills such as flame Scar
4416s and Oculus we've taken a p to add in
4419s some of these affixes that that enhance
4421s those skills in multiplicative ways to
4423s really make sure that you know
4424s incinerate is gets the the same benefit
4427s from using that unique uh as opposed to
4430s just a legendary that you would temper
4431s this aex onto anyway it's a massive buff
4434s yes absolutely
4436s like pull out a ruler like is it
4442s actually yeah incate size and and
4444s teleport size maybe not the most
4446s compelling aics now you just get some of
4447s this multiplicative damage um if
4449s somebody wants to make a you know an
4451s Oculus build where most of the damage
4452s comes from teleport that's going to be
4454s awesome we'll see if you can can manage
4456s to make that work yeah I love that idea
4458s oh my God I already have a build page sa
4461s to see that yeah nice um so yeah once
4464s again I just wanted to uh you know thank
4466s everyone for for all the great feedback
4468s uh we on the class design team in
4470s particular are always reading and
4471s listening to feedback on on you know how
4474s you're playing the classes what builds
4475s you're finding fun what what things are
4477s over or underpowered um we listen to it
4480s we read your feedback uh we watch the
4482s videos that you make we we really
4483s appreciate all of it and uh it really
4485s helps us to make the game as best as
4486s possible awesome thank you so much

4490s coming for class design it's actually
4492s not all the changes that we saw right
4493s here as Charles mentioned we do have
4495s patch notes actually going live after
4497s this stream um and I will caveat you
4500s will see
4502s 2.0.1 patch notes and you'll see
4505s 2.0.2 patch notes so there's 202 and
4508s 2011 202 is actually not in on like
4512s people's PCS yet you haven't pre-loaded
4514s that that is going to be the the the
4515s last update you'll need to grab before
4518s uh we jump into launch for vessel of
4520s hatred but you will get all the patch
4521s notes uh after the stream so you can dig
4523s through all the class changes uh that we
4525s didn't cover and all the ins and outs of
4527s it uh between now and what we had for
4529s PTR so last but not least we have run
4533s words so uh I think uh we're going to
4536s jump straight into it so you want to go
4538s ahead yeah absolutely so again awesome
4541s feedback we got lots of different things
4543s that came in and we've heard multiple
4546s times in uh a couple different things
4549s with the Rune words that really just
4551s people kept repeating over and over
4553s again really mostly stemming down to two
4555s major issues with the whole system and
4558s uh so previously we had on the PTR um we
4563s had the the legendary runes that were a
4565s lot stronger you know because you want
4567s to reach that point eventually to where
4569s you you get the powerful runes and then
4571s you play the game that way um well that
4573s was kind of outshining a lot of the
4575s other possibilities and like the idea
4576s that we had with the runes where you're
4578s mixing and matching creating different
4579s combinations so what we are ending up
4583s doing now uh is we are taking that top
4585s end and we're going to bring it down and
4587s then on the flip side the second thing
4589s that we heard a lot of is uh those that
4593s those bottom runes those uh I I don't
4595s want to say bottom runes the magic and
4596s rare runes that you find a little
4598s earlier uh especially uh those Runes of
4600s ritual where you are those are the ones
4602s where uh you're actually like doing
4604s things to gain offering to then uh
4606s invoke those those Runes of invocation
4609s those powers that you have um those were
4613s uh intentionally a bit lower so that you
4615s have some progress but it felt like when
4618s when you get them it wasn't enough you
4620s you didn't get to really feel those
4622s runes uh happen and pop off when you get
4625s them um so on the other side we are
4628s taking those that bottom end and
4629s bringing it up so together we're kind of
4633s I don't want to say flattening out but
4635s uh we are making it a lot more options
4637s for the players to uh really have
4640s choices throughout your whole journey
4642s rather than just a linear you know get
4644s the stronger one then obviously it's
4646s stronger and uh what this will also do
4648s and and the focus on this is to also
4650s make those utility runes really really
4653s potent and and really pop off and a lot
4656s more visual things to happen uh and then
4658s finally we removed a couple runes that
4660s weren't quite meeting our expectations
4663s um we have this thing that we say uh
4665s every once in a while which is like
4667s condense the fun and we we want to make
4669s that you know like uh the the ideal
4672s situation where we have you know the
4674s rooms that we have are are the ones that
4675s are that are cool and fun and and not
4678s like overblow it with just a bunch of
4680s things that don't you know don't always
4682s like meet those expectations yeah we
4684s want you to have lots of options and we
4685s don't want individual runes or or
4688s effects to really overshadow everything
4689s else but it does that does mean that you
4691s know we want to make sure that all the
4693s options are really compelling and so
4695s ones that aren't meeting our bar we just
4696s would rather take them out rather than
4698s leave them in yeah absolutely I think
4700s we're always going to be adding to the
4701s Rune system right so we want to leave
4703s ourselves the space we didn't want to
4705s water down the pool with things like the
4706s lightning bolt the effect run it's like
4709s that didn't really have it was an
4710s evolutionary dead ends we didn't
4711s necessarily have any way to juice that
4713s up um so we want one of Rune drops for
4715s it to feel like oh there's this new toy
4717s I can play with right it's important
4718s that every choice in the Rune system is
4719s Meaningful like every every possible
4722s Rune you can take or combination like
4723s there's something there right yeah you
4726s want to feel it for sure and it it
4727s doesn't want to be something that you
4729s know you just like oh I got this Rune
4731s and it's like well let me find another
4733s one so
4736s all right so here's some examples of
4738s some of the the big outliers um we heard
4740s lots lots of feedback around these two
4742s especially um that war cry Rune uh so
4746s with while it was giving berserking to
4748s everyone it was a big Power bonus and so
4751s we're going to bring that down a little
4752s bit by just it's no longer going to give
4755s that uh that enhanced version it's just
4758s the Baseline version so it no longer
4759s gives berserking to all players that
4761s does mean it still works for barbarians
4763s because that is their skill they should
4765s still be able to gain that power as they
4767s would expect uh and then down with the
4770s the yam which is that Druid petrify the
4772s Rune itself is not changing um what's
4774s actually changing is on Druids
4776s themselves their uh ultimate there is no
4780s longer going to give that critical bonus
4781s Baseline it's not going to be the
4783s enhanced version so if you want that as
4786s a druid you can still get that big
4787s powerful critical damage bonus but now
4790s that Baseline is going to be that big
4792s stun that big AOE moment that you see
4794s everything on the screen freeze and also
4797s just juice you up with a bunch of
4799s resource and this is general like class
4802s resource so unlike uh what it'll say for
4804s the Druid is it says their Spirit goes
4806s up on the Rune it says it is your
4809s resource so everyone gets this huge big
4812s moment uh where you can kind of reset so
4814s so if I'm a sorcerer it doesn't generate
4816s Spirit it generates Mana for it you
4819s don't just get a second bubble that
4821s fills up the
4823s spirit that be weird
4827s I like that this puts a lot more
4828s emphasis on the utility of runes which
4830s is sort of what we had been originally
4832s intending right not every choice is
4834s going to be a multiplicative damage
4835s Source um so you should have a lot more
4837s options it's more focused on utility
4839s yeah absolutely stealing other classes
4841s power yeah obviously multiplicative
4843s damage is probably the single strongest
4844s thing you can do in an arpg and and just
4847s when we notice the these ones were
4849s really those ones that are overshadowing
4851s every other option uh we still think
4852s those will find a great Niche for the
4854s builds that want it but they won't be
4855s the only choice that no one else can use
4857s anything else for absolutely
4860s absolutely all right so uh here's some
4862s examples uh again I want to preface this
4865s is not all of them there are a bunch of
4868s changes you guys will see them in the
4869s patch notes as we had already talked
4871s about um but some of the big ones that
4874s uh I wanted to show off here uh so
4876s Spirit born Vortex that's the one that
4878s pulls everyone in you group everything
4880s together that is going to be almost uh
4883s you're going to be able to get that off
4885s almost twice as often as it was before
4888s uh so you're combine that in with
4890s something that you know has some grindy
4893s uh damage in the middle and you're going
4894s to be just having this pop off all the
4896s time um as well as uh so we call them
4900s sub Powers those are things like uh the
4903s sorcerer meteorites or like the
4905s Barbarian earthquakes um those things
4908s that uh happen based on other things but
4911s they create like another power that
4912s comes out we are juicing those up a lot
4915s L more so these should be uh some of the
4917s most powerful versions of these sub
4920s powers in the game from these runes and
4923s as you can see here meteorites is
4924s jumping up a whole bunch as well as the
4926s offering cost is going down so you're
4928s going to be able to summon a lot more of
4930s these as well and then one of the other
4932s uh things uh I saw feedback was around
4936s the uh the SE Rune I don't know exactly
4939s how to say it myself I'll have to ask
4941s even about that after this but uh uh
4944s where you summon spirit wolves uh and
4946s they didn't feel as uh they didn't feel
4950s as impactful because their their AI was
4952s not not as poppy as like say the uh the
4955s necromancers minions running around a
4957s lot more quickly so we adjusted that and
4961s uh so we're going to have a video coming
4962s up here in a second and we can see uh so
4965s now you're going to summon those wolves
4968s they're going to pop up and do their
4969s attack and if you jump to the next pack
4971s they're going to jump forward except
4972s this is going to happen a lot more
4974s frequently than before
4975s so now if you say fight that pack jump
4978s to the next one every time those run
4981s those wolves are going to just keep
4983s jumping and keep leaping and this works
4985s in uh ranged as well so if you're
4988s fighting uh some enemy over here to the
4990s left and you fight uh you attack them
4993s your wolves are going to jump
4994s immediately over there and then if you
4995s switch to this other group on the right
4997s those wolves are going to jump across
4998s the screen because we've also increased
5001s uh that aggro range as well for that
5003s yeah they feel a lot more respons
5005s and and like even in that clip we saw
5007s them jump into the pack at basically the
5009s same time we did right they are right
5010s there with you they're not lagging
5011s behind and and that's that's always like
5013s the worst feeling when you're like hey I
5014s Su this thing where they what are they
5018s doing they no longer lazy dogs yeah yeah
5021s they were tired they were tired tired
5024s little pups you
5026s know uh and then here are some examples
5028s of those rins of ritual again those are
5030s the ones that uh are generating this
5032s offering and uh so these are mostly
5035s going to be changes to those magic and
5037s rare runes where we've taken that
5039s offering they give and we've really
5041s knocked it up to be a lot closer to
5043s where those legendary versions of these
5045s are and that should hopefully give us a
5048s lot more options when it comes to
5050s deciding which combination of which
5051s runes that we are using so it also just
5054s means things are a lot more reliable
5056s like you're actually getting procs way
5057s more often with these Buffs yeah you
5059s actually get to see the you know the fun
5061s happen right see see those effects
5062s happen a little bit more often yeah so
5065s tons of runee changes that are coming um
5067s and as Anthony mentioned we there's way
5071s more details in the actual patch notes
5074s themselves uh so people can check that
5075s out after uh the stream along with all
5078s the class changes the system changes the
5080s progression changes it's all detailed
5082s out there for players specifically you
5084s know I had one thing because I think we
5085s might have forgotten it and you know I'm
5087s very concerned about monitor violence we
5091s heard a lot of people were wanting to
5093s punch their monitors oh that's right
5097s when you get a greater AIC on impairment
5099s resistance so as monitor enthusiasts
5102s we've just removed that from the aex
5104s pool so please
5106s don't punch less punching of monitors
5108s save the
5109s monitors and and one thing I do want to
5111s call out on Rune words we actually funny
5113s enough we we got a lot of feedback about
5115s players saying like hey we noticed like
5117s different art on some of the classic
5119s runes that they may have seen from like
5122s back in D2 uh that art has been updated
5125s to match uh what you saw in D2
5128s so
5130s yes yeah shout shout out to to the
5132s history of runes there for everyone so
5135s uh thank you guys for for uh jumping
5138s into this and I will say like this team
5140s is is going to be staying Vigilant
5141s through the launch of vessel of hatred
5143s uh with our live Ops teams here um shout

5437s the new season uh coming with the launch
5439s of vessel of hatred and I'm joined by
5441s this wonderful group here Brent who we
5443s already know our game director here but
5445s uh Tim Don do you want to introduce
5446s yourselves yes uh my name is Tim Isme I
5449s am one of the lead producers on Diablo I
5452s I mostly work on Seasons uh Don Adams
5455s I'm the lead season designer for season
5456s six the season of hatred Rising also
5459s known as content supervisor also known
5461s as
5462s cont time to time there we go um awesome
5466s so as Don just mentioned Here season six
5469s is season of hatred Rising uh Tim do you
5473s want to explain to us what hatred rising
5475s or Brent oh yeah I'll take this one um
5478s yeah so when we started off with this we
5480s really knew we wanted to make sure that
5483s we were launching a brand new season
5485s right alongside a vessel of hatred we
5487s wanted that to be day and date um so
5490s like continuity was really important to
5491s us and so the idea that the hatred of
5496s Mesto and nantu is is spilling out into
5500s the rest of sanctuary was kind of the
5502s anchor that we're holding on to and we
5504s started talking about what that would
5505s mean to make a whole season around that
5507s awesome and I know with uh uh kind of
5511s like what players hearing hatred Rising
5514s their hearing about you know misto and
5516s his hatred potentially leaking out into
5518s nantu maybe the rest of sanctuary like
5521s what can players expect with this this
5522s actual season uh yeah so a lot of
5525s actually what is going to be the core of
5527s season six and the season six experience
5529s players have already gotten exposed to
5531s so anybody who's playing on the PTR has
5533s been reading about the changes we put up
5535s there uh fundamental to the release of
5538s vessel of hatred season six brings big
5540s changes where every single class is
5542s going to gain access to new skill points
5545s they're going to gain new skills across
5547s all the classes they're going to gain
5548s more Paragon points new legendary
5551s Paragon glyphs these are all changes
5553s that are being added to the base of the
5555s game meaning you do not need to have
5557s vessel of hatred to gain access to these
5559s you also will still have access to these
5561s after season 6 these are permanent
5563s changes to the game on top of that we
5565s got the standard new legendary aspects
5567s we have new unique items and new Mythic
5570s items crazy powerful Mythic items that
5573s are going to unlock just new levels of
5575s power that were not possible before in
5577s the game now to go along with this power
5579s we will be adding these new difficulty
5582s levels that again we saw on PTR so you
5584s have the ability to challenge these new
5586s levels of power I want to say that it's
5589s all going to even out well honestly
5591s despite the tireless efforts of our
5593s designers just constant trying to get
5595s that balance just right based on all the
5597s feedback that comes in I know that maybe
5599s it'll be out for a day before someone's
5601s posting a video and saying oh look at
5603s this I do a trillion d and just it'll go
5605s all over the Internet like I've never
5607s seen numbers this big and that's yeah
5609s but we tried we tried to get it there
5610s you're going to see crazy builds those
5613s are going to link into new difficulties
5615s that were never there before to try in
5617s all this new content yeah awesome yeah I
5619s know uh all these things that players
5621s got to experience a little bit in PTR
5622s they got to see it they got to check it
5624s out early but of course there is more
5627s kind of associated with uh this specific
5629s season so uh Don uh do you want to talk
5632s a little bit more about what what
5634s players can also see beyond what Tim
5636s kind of walked through yeah absolutely
5639s so you know as we mentioned this is the
5640s season of hatred Rising so we really
5642s wanted to theme it around uh M Fisto's
5645s hatred creeping out of nantu and into
5646s the rest of the rest of the world so
5648s let's go ahead and take a look at our
5650s visual aid here um
5653s beautiful I was I was promised official
5655s documents I was promised that this would
5657s be turned into real art when I sent this
5659s over I didn't I didn't think we'd be uh
5660s showing this but um hopefully this will
5663s all make sense by the end of the
5665s presentation just for now just take it
5666s in there go yeah every everyone loves
5669s designer art it's it's it's core to all
5672s our our our live streams that we do art
5675s by Don Don Adams here so yeah and I I
5678s frankly I think it speaks for itself I
5679s don't really know that there's much more
5681s to
5682s say but let's let's go on and uh go
5685s ahead to the next uh slide here and
5686s let's take a look at some real art uh to
5689s to get you ready for the season here um
5691s this is of course amazing uh key art
5694s from uh Dave Raposa um I just love
5697s kicking that demon in the face that's
5699s makes me happy every time I see it um
5702s let's go ahead and uh move on to the
5704s next slide and I'll get into some actual
5706s details about how this stuff shows up in
5708s the world what you're going to be
5709s looking for when you're hunting these
5710s guys down so you're going to see these
5712s hatred Rising Zone events that cycle uh
5715s frequently throughout the world uh when
5717s these are up the everything in that area
5718s is going to be corrupted by hatred
5720s you're going to be seeing environmental
5721s changes lighting changes the monsters
5723s will actually have you know kind of
5725s hatred uh gummy goop on them um you can
5728s be ambushed from portals randomly um and
5731s really all this is just setting the
5732s stage for the realm Walker so you'll
5735s have a separate um uh event icon that'll
5737s let you know when the realm Walker is
5739s going to be up it's it's a world event
5740s so it'll be in that list on the map with
5743s uh you know other like World bosses and
5744s Legion Events and stuff um and we have
5747s some video here to kind of show you what
5749s it looks like um oh actually I think we
5751s have another slide about the realm
5752s Walker first sorry yeah so this is what
5755s he looks like in game he's awesome uh
5758s they these are just big uh hulking kind
5759s of monstrosities stomping around uh you
5762s know just spreading misto uh hatred um
5765s they summon in monsters from a plane of
5769s Hell through this portal on their back
5771s um and a lot of the monsters they summon
5773s most of them are are actually new
5774s monsters from vessel of hatred of the
5776s hollow family which are super cool and
5778s gross uh so I think now we can uh take a
5780s look at what it actually looks like in
5782s game uh so here's some players waiting
5784s for him to
5785s spawn he starts burrowed like that and
5787s you can kind of click the portal to
5789s summon some stuff to fight while you're
5791s getting warmed up here I just love these
5794s enemies like they're so cool the hollows
5796s uh so he busts out of the ground and
5798s this is actually uh we want to do
5800s something new uh uh with this with this
5802s event um and lean into the fantasy of
5805s this this giant thing just like stomping
5807s around so it's actually a walking world
5810s event he he has several different paths
5811s he can take throughout each area he
5813s walks through The Zone and as he walks
5815s he just leaves this you know chaos
5817s behind him in his wake he's summoning
5819s tons of Hollows and you know if you get
5821s in front of him he just punts you out of
5822s the way and keeps going you actually
5824s can't even damage him directly in this
5826s phase uh but if you kill enough of the
5828s ads that he's spawning it'll create
5830s these uh bloodbound Guardians killing
5832s these will shave some of the HP off of
5834s the realm Walker so uh when he reaches
5837s the end of his path and you can actually
5838s fight him you'll have you know less uh
5840s less HP to burn through so this is a
5842s nice way to incentivize actually you
5844s know participating sticking sticking
5846s around for all this chaos obviously lots
5848s of XP and whatnot from the mobs as
5850s well uh so this is the uh the uh the uh
5855s event that he kicks off when he actually
5857s gets to his destination when you
5859s interrupt this ritual by destroying all
5861s of these uh these destructible hatred
5864s spires that's when you'll actually be
5865s able to fight him
5868s directly and I think we're going to see
5870s that here very quickly this is a really
5872s cool uh encounter there's just Lots of
5874s uh you know he has a big big smashy
5876s attacks he sprays a lot of damage
5878s everywhere okay so they've taken him
5880s down and when he dies uh that weird
5883s portal on his back drops down and stays
5885s open and there's only really one thing
5888s to do with a weird portal yeah you go in
5891s the portal your option so Port are made
5894s for successfully killing the Rome walker
5897s uh taking down this massive demon
5900s finally grants you your reward of more
5902s demons so you're going to go into the
5904s seething realm this is part of the misto
5906s area of hell so you are going to have to
5908s continue fighting in here it is not a

5913s fight in here comparatively if you were
5915s strong enough to take down a bron Walker
5917s don't be too worried I think you're
5918s going to be able to manage the Demons
5920s Inside of the sething realm as well this
5922s dungeon is a little bit more of a reward
5924s dungeon so once you get in here you're
5926s fighting your way through to get uh
5928s specific Buffs at the end of it so if we
5931s want we can jump into the video here
5932s yeah this is the first section and this
5934s part you're just kind of mowing through
5934s some of these smaller guys you're really
5936s just looking for a specific gate here
5938s there's a portal that you're going to be
5939s activating and making an important
5941s choice there about which section of the
5944s seasoning realm you go into here it is
5946s this is the gate here so you're going to
5947s click on this you now have options based
5949s on a few consumables that you can put in
5951s you can go into sections that are more
5953s focused on equipment bonus a gold bonus
5957s uh you can get a socketable bonus you
5959s can get uh more endgame items with like
5961s compasses and uh materials so you're
5965s going to pick one of these and decide
5966s that's the section I want to go into
5968s you're going to get some drops similar
5970s to that in this section of the dungeon
5973s but more importantly this is going to
5974s set you up for the type of buff you want
5976s to get at the end of the dungeon so
5978s again this is not an empty area you are
5980s going to have to fight through it you're
5981s going to encounter more Hollows in here
5983s some more Elites all of this leading up
5985s to a chest at the end here's your reward
5987s so finally just click on this you get
5989s your reward I'm just kidding yeah of
5990s course it's a cursed event of course
5992s you're going to have to fight even more
5994s demons this nothing's free in hell this
5996s is just how you got to do it so you
5998s fight your way through some more Elites
6000s but don't worry I believe in you you can
6002s get through this if you kill the last
6004s guy was there's one more there take him
6007s down come on you can get it all right so
6008s he goes down now you get your prizes
6011s you're going to open these chests
6012s there's a variety of loot that you get
6014s but one specific item that you're
6016s looking for in here which is going to be
6018s a seething opal so these little there
6020s they are yeah little seething Opals they
6022s got a little seasonal marker on them
6024s this is special to season 6 when you get
6026s these I'm going to take a look here this
6028s is going to be a buff you get based on
6030s the one that you chose there are some
6031s fundamentals you always get so a
6032s seething opal always gives you a 15%
6035s bonus to experience this is especially
6038s cool because it Stacks with Elixir you
6040s can have an Elixir and a sething opal
6042s active at the same time that's a huge
6044s bonus on top of that any seething opal
6046s that you use is going to allow you to
6048s now get reputation with the remnants of
6050s the zachar room Don will talk about that
6052s more in just a second but that's going
6053s to be the reputation track for season 6
6056s and then beyond that you will get a
6058s bonus depending on which portal you went
6060s through which section of the seing realm
6062s you decide to go into here we here yeah
6064s if you got a if you want to snapshot
6066s this anybody who's screenshotting these
6068s are some of the bonuses you can get as
6070s you can see on here you're getting uh
6071s maybe more items maybe more gold uh more
6074s socketable so these bonuses are going to
6077s occur while fighting anything while
6078s having this buff active so equipment as
6081s an example maybe I wanted more items to
6082s be dropping when you kill monsters
6084s there's a chance that they're going to
6086s drop a cash that is going to give you
6087s some additional loot uh and if you're
6090s playing content in let's say further in
6091s the end game that uh monsters don't
6093s traditionally drop loot not to worry
6095s we've adjusted that as well if you play
6097s through the pit as an example we have
6099s added an additional drop at the end of
6101s the pit again that procs based on which
6104s sething opal that you chose uh there are
6107s a couple up here at the end uh oh the
6108s socketable one I should mention that one
6111s is special to you do have to have vessel
6113s of hatred for that one this one is more
6114s for people that are trying to get more
6116s runes so you know obviously you need to
6118s have vessel of hatred to get runes so
6120s that's what's going to make this
6121s valuable to you it's cool to also see
6124s like boss summoning items on here
6125s infernal compasses as well infernal
6127s compasses themselves are going to be
6129s very uh valuable because it's it's as
6132s Colin was mentioning before um they like
6135s we saw what uh uh you can end up getting
6138s in infernal hordes and everything like
6139s that that you it's just another
6141s opportunity to get more compasses for
6143s for getting in there yeah seething opal
6145s of Torment I think is great I think that
6147s grape flavored opal is going to be very
6149s popular the gra yeah the grape one is
6151s going to be pretty popular and a
6153s question I just quickly solve because
6155s you you mentioned stacking with Elixir
6157s um does it also stack with incense yes
6160s it will stack with in there you go so
6161s there that's a that's a triple stack of
6163s uh XP right there cool so that's awesome
6167s so obviously like uh you know we're
6169s we're seeing the rewards here and one
6171s thing that you had mentioned which was
6172s the the Zach room REM like what Don can
6175s you like talk to us a little bit about
6177s kind of uh what that progression track
6179s is going to be yeah sure so um these are
6183s the zachar room remnants you you've
6184s probably seen these guys in howar these
6186s are the Crusaders with the rusty armor
6188s that have just been kind of bombing
6189s around uh since they you know they
6190s failed to find akarat's tomb um they
6193s have a very personal connection with
6195s misto you know he he of course destroyed
6197s basically the zachar room order um many
6200s years ago um and at this time they're
6203s still just not really ready to stand up
6205s and and fight this at full force right
6208s they've been dealing with cultists and
6210s and they're just not at their full
6211s strength so um you'll meet this Crusader
6214s uh right at the start of the Season who
6216s will give you a very simple intro Quest
6218s basically to guide you to kill a realm
6220s Walker clear a seething realm um and
6223s he'll be your point of contact for uh
6225s reputation rewards following that so um
6229s you know basically we built this in a
6232s way that you with the opal's giving rep
6234s for all sorts of different activities um
6237s the idea is that you can you know go and
6239s kind of do whatever you want to do as
6241s long as you're checking in periodically
6242s with the realm Walker and keeping a
6244s stack of these Opals on hand um it's
6247s very open-ended how you how you want to
6248s push this reputation track yeah it is
6250s always nice to see that anywhere that
6253s new demons occur in the world there is
6255s always some faction out there that's
6257s trying to take care of them and would
6258s appreciate your help so the zacher woman
6260s here they've had a rough go of it but if
6262s you can help them out I think that we
6263s can handle this problem they're not at
6265s their best right now yeah you know one
6267s of the things that I really like about
6269s the way we've looked at this whole
6270s package is that not only have we done uh
6273s a bunch of diligence in making sure that
6275s the story is uh taking part in Olive
6278s Sanctuary we're touching on some really
6280s cool lore stuff that uh has existed uh
6284s for a long period of time but we're also
6286s leaning into a theme of giving the
6288s players more control over the experience
6291s and so whether it's the choice of reward
6293s or being able to stack these rewards to
6295s get specific outcomes you're going to
6298s see that not only in uh in the season so
6301s everybody's going to get access to this
6302s in the season but we have that theme
6304s also creeping into some of the stuff
6306s you'll see with the vessel of hatred
6307s content in just a few minutes yeah yeah
6310s so hopefully the the hieroglyphs that we
6312s saw at the beginning uh the designer
6314s hopefully this makes sense now right you
6316s kill the real Walker to get the portal
6318s you do the portal to get the Opals and
6320s then you go do uh you know the MS paint
6322s sort of shape of all the other
6324s activities that are in the game you can
6325s also just chain run the realm Walker if
6327s you'd like as well he's up very often um
6329s and I expect people will kind of you
6331s know go back and forth on how often
6332s they're interacting with them you might
6333s want to Stack a bunch of Opals for the
6335s weekend or something right if you hate
6337s realm Walkers and you're like I just
6338s want to kill realm Walkers all day you
6340s can what I love about the season is
6342s exactly that you can get the opal it's a
6344s great buff and now go play other content
6346s including the new content that's coming
6348s out in vessel of hatred if you bought
6349s the expansion got a lot of options there
6351s so you don't have to just play the
6352s seasonal content and you'll play this
6354s other stuff while still having the buff
6356s including the vessel of hatred Campaign
6358s which is kind of a first right you'll
6359s need to have completed the base campaign
6361s but um you can play The Vessel of hatri
6362s campaign alongside the season six
6364s content which is pretty cool yeah so
6366s huge huge for for people that you know
6368s have base game or vessel of hatred can
6370s partake in in the uh the content for
6373s this season uh Don Tim thank you guys

6789s in specific moments but uh we didn't do
6792s like kind of big bigger deeper Dives on
6794s this uh Beyond like the the spirit porn
6797s where we had a separate stream on but we
6798s actually even have additional updates on
6800s that um but I want to let you guys
6802s introduce yourselves as you can see BR

6815s chatting about the curos unded a
6818s few Bjorn uh Bjorn mikkelson a class
6822s designer for Spirit born hi I'm Dan BRS
6825s I'm a lead game designer and I'll be
6827s talking about mercenaries awesome cool
6829s so uh you know tons of content coming to
6832s uh vessel of hatred I know um players
6835s have heard us talk about it a little bit
6837s but um Brent did you want to talk about
6840s any content specifically before we jump
6842s in yeah I mean just kind of teeing up
6845s the next big thing that we want to talk
6846s about is just kind of how well the
6848s spirit born reaction has been since
6850s we've announced it it's been amazing to
6853s see folks so excited about it uh it's
6856s something that we've been pouring a lot
6857s of love into we wanted to make sure they
6858s were adding something fresh to the game
6860s and I really feel like we're there but
6862s but when we released it we actually
6865s still had work to do and so throughout
6867s the PTR um and the last few weeks of
6872s development here we've been putting a
6873s lot of effort into polishing things up
6875s and I'm super excited to hear beor talk
6877s about what we've got in store yeah lots
6879s of internal testing we had players
6880s actually check it out at Gamescom as
6882s well which was really cool so uh as we
6885s all know Bjorn was on our our spirit
6887s born reveal stream and he's back to talk
6890s more about Spirit born so here is Spirit
6893s beorn to talk more about the
6897s spirit it's it's it's hard for me to
6900s actually say Spirit born now because I
6902s just say Spirit born so there we go
6905s awesome yeah um yes I mean we've seen a
6907s lot of the sort of in development side
6908s of it and we're just going to talk about
6910s a few kind of final touches the final
6912s version of a few things uh that we want
6914s to hit on quickly here in this
6915s presentation uh so starting off we're
6917s going to talk about a couple of updates
6920s uh to the Spirit born's passives uh
6922s first off we have three additional
6924s passives which have been added to the
6925s tree uh each of these kind of uh
6928s amplifies how the skills work uh that
6931s they relate to so we have one for core
6932s skills uh one for potency skills and one
6935s for Focus skills and that sort of lets
6936s you kind of go more all in on any of
6939s those skills um there's also here on the
6941s far side of the slide an update to
6943s noxious resonance which is one of spirit
6945s born's key passives uh we really wanted
6948s to kind of clarify how this mechanic
6950s Works how it scales uh and kind of
6952s answer some lingering questions about
6954s exactly how it works um but it's still
6956s largely based around exploding the
6958s poisons on your enemies uh moving on to
6960s another thing uh we're going to have a
6962s small update to the Jaguar primary
6965s Spirit Hall uh this will still uh do
6968s lots of damage whenever you spec into it
6970s it's all about damage with the Jaguar uh
6972s but this has focused it a little bit
6974s more about uh multi-attack skills High
6977s attack speed um and really like allowing
6979s you to ramp up the damage that you can
6981s get it uh because now it's also based
6983s around the damage that you did in a
6985s short window so that lets you sort of
6987s echo all of that damage that you did uh
6989s the faster you're attacking um moving on
6992s to another small or sort of mediumsized
6995s update uh there was some confusion
6997s around Spirit feathers storm feathers
6998s the eagle Hall how all that kind of
7000s works together so this has been unified
7002s into a New Concept just called storm
7004s feathers uh what this is is this is a
7006s buff that you can get this increases
7008s your movement speed and it Stacks
7010s duration um and now all of these things
7013s they all speak to the storm feather
7014s concept so you can get them you can
7016s modify them you can make them do
7018s different things uh and you can even
7020s like use it to make kind of some crazy
7022s builds I think we have a video for it um
7024s where you can just kind of have feathers
7025s going all over the place um as you're
7027s doing it and you can even use like
7029s torine and various Paragon that
7031s increases uh storm feather potency uh
7033s that will speak to all of these aspects
7035s as well as the uh Eagle primary hall and
7038s then moving on to the last thing we've
7040s got uh should be our you unques um so
7044s some of you might have gotten to see
7045s some early versions of these uh but we
7047s want to kind of show off the the final
7049s versions with all of their stats in all
7051s of their Glory uh so to start off we
7053s have six uh unique Spirit born Rings
7056s each of these kind of emphasizes a
7058s combination of two Spirits uh and really
7061s lets you sort of tailor how you generate
7063s your resource uh to sort of make the
7065s build that you're looking to make then
7068s moving on to our unique armors uh we
7071s showed off the of the earth boots that
7073s turns your sore into aade uh and
7075s everybody really loved that uh a couple
7077s other examples we've got a craze of the
7079s Dead God uh which allows you to turn
7082s poisoning all damage coming at you into
7084s poisoning damage and then sort of throw
7086s that back out at your enemies in the
7087s form of touch of death uh which is
7089s pretty neat and then we've also got our
7091s Helms uh we have two different unique
7094s Helms uh one is focused more more along
7097s the lines of letting you sort of mix and
7099s match Spirits uh while the other one is
7101s more about kind of doubling down on
7102s using a single spirit and then finally
7106s we have our unique weapons we've got
7108s several glaes and quarter staffs um we
7111s already showed off the basic one but
7112s we're going to quickly show off uh sort
7114s of its counterpart which is the one for
7115s your core skills uh so this one um
7119s allows you to sort of spam your core
7121s skills almost as if they were Basics
7123s that's sort of reduced damage but when
7124s you're at maximum Vigor it ramps up to
7126s be a maximum size guaranteed crit just
7129s massive screen clearing uh version of
7131s the core skill
7133s um so we think that one's pretty fun too
7135s and then lastly I believe I have a slide
7137s just for yeah there we go um our drop
7140s tables for the bosses so if you're
7142s looking to Target Farm any of these
7144s specific ones similar to the other
7146s classes you can kind of Farm These based
7147s on different bosses so take a screenshot
7149s of this um and go for it awesome yeah
7153s tons of uh updates I you know we've done
7155s so much internal testing we've heard a
7157s lot of feedback because we had that deep
7158s dive blog we've seen people Theory craft
7161s uh we've seen people actually play it at
7163s Gamescom we've had a couple content
7164s creators like during the spirit born uh
7167s live stream and and even during our like
7169s kind of a preview event they actually
7171s got to try it out and stuff so hearing
7173s all this feedback and then you know
7174s applying uh some of the feedback and
7176s some of the internal feedback that we
7177s ended up getting and seeing all the
7178s changes here and updating everyone has
7180s been really cool to see so thank you
7182s again Bjorn for for uh walking us
7184s through the spirit born it's a the class
7187s is incredibly fun uh I day one is what
7191s it's what I'm playing for vessel I think
7192s most of us are but uh yeah it's a ton of
7195s fun to to check out uh next up that what
7197s we wanted to talk about is uh Kass under
7200s City this is actually a feature uh that
7202s we did uh announce with Gamescom um but
7205s we didn't really get a a ton of
7207s opportunities to really kind of like
7208s dive deeper into uh what Cur under city
7211s is so uh Derek uh you want to take us
7214s through this yeah absolutely so uh the
7217s curus under city is a brand new dungeon
7219s experience that players our vessel
7221s hatred players will be unlocking
7222s throughout the course of the campaign
7224s it's appropriately located in the new
7227s capital city of Kos but it's the part of
7230s town that's not recommended that the
7232s standard citizen you know Venture into
7233s it's a a section of the kuros town that
7236s is still Infested by the jungles in
7239s nantu and kind of uh overrun with the
7241s worst of the worst it's a nantu is Most
7244s Wanted inside the various districts that
7245s make up the under city um throughout the
7248s course as players are unlocking it
7250s they'll meet a new character named seex
7252s that kind of teaches you the you know
7254s laws of the unders City and how to
7255s commune with the spirit Flames to uh
7257s Traverse um you know its treacherous
7260s depths basically um so that's kind of
7262s like the uh narrative setting for it but
7264s let's dive into the actual experiential
7266s standpoint which we see here already um
7268s so the curos under city is an intense
7270s multifloor time attack dungeon where
7273s players will be racing against an
7274s aggressive countdown timer to reach the
7277s district boss with as high of a Wards
7280s upgrade meter builtup as possible and
7283s try not to let that timer expire um so
7286s fun little uh novel wrinkle here is that
7289s killing certain monsters we referred to
7290s as Afflicted will give you time bonuses
7292s to extend your time in the unders City
7295s and just killing monsters in general and
7297s uh completing dungeon activities will
7300s build up this reward upgrade meter
7302s referred to in-game as Attunement as far
7305s as the UND City's role it's one novel
7308s new novel leveling content um but its
7311s power really comes into the fact that
7313s it's brand new opportunistic content
7315s that allows players to make very
7317s efficient very specific progress towards
7320s rewards goals as the opportunities arise
7323s I'll dive deeper into that in the next
7325s few slides but um for now just want to
7327s kind of set the stage that theander city
7330s does not necessarily have any objective
7331s aside from get to the boss Beat the
7333s Clock and do so with the highest amount
7336s of rewards upgrades built up as possible
7338s how the players go about doing that is
7340s entirely up to them uh cuz this is again
7342s a a dungeon that celebrates you know
7345s autonomy flow and
7347s variety this is a good example we were
7349s talking about earlier when we're looking
7350s at the new modes that we have we want
7353s that player agency to come back to the
7354s player play your way and I think this is
7356s a perfect example of that yeah
7358s absolutely so let's dive into the next
7361s slide
7362s here cool so I mentioned opportunistic
7366s content and this is where the unders
7370s City's primary role in the reward
7371s structure is so we have dungeon keys
7373s that Grant you access to dungeons the
7376s UND City's version of a dungeon key is
7378s in the form of tributes so you can hop
7381s into an unders City run without a
7383s tribute just do the thing know the base
7384s run but when you start applying tributes
7387s this is where we allow you to define the
7390s specific reward upgrade opportunities of
7392s your next unders City run at the cost of
7395s increasing the runs challenge so you can
7397s see an example of a tribute here this is
7399s the tribute of Radiance and when you
7401s slot this in so long as you complete
7405s your unders City run with at least
7406s Attunement rank one we will guarantee
7409s that you get ancestral legendaries at
7411s the end um we'll dive a little bit
7413s deeper into some of the nuances you can
7415s see that it has dungeon a affixes that
7417s Define the specific challenge so you you
7418s know the higher and more powerful the
7420s tribute the tougher the challenge is in
7422s the form of you know blower starting
7424s time time bonus penalties and potion
7427s drop penalties um but the fund doesn't
7429s really doesn't stop there in fact we're
7431s just getting started um once you apply a
7433s tribute you now unlock the ability to
7435s define a bargain each tribute has a list
7439s of Bargains mapped to it so this tribute
7442s of Radiance has a you know a collection
7444s of them we're just picking out a couple
7445s that seem pretty fun to show off and
7448s Bargains allow you to further customize
7451s your rewards at a varying material cost
7453s um so we have one here skill ranks
7455s legendary armors will always possess at
7457s least one skill rank AIX um for you know
7460s x amount of gold here and then the
7461s passive r ranks which you'll see a
7462s little bit more later uh the legendary
7464s amulets will always possess at least one
7467s passive rank AIX um so let's go into the
7469s next slide just to again recap the full
7471s flow and we're going to see a video of
7473s all this to let it all kind of like soak
7475s in and and see like the full uh flow of
7477s the unders city so we have the frontend
7479s experience where you interact with the
7480s spirit braer you can jump directly into
7484s your District run or you can optionally
7486s apply a tribute and then a bargain to
7489s specify the you know rewards opportunity
7492s your next run so let's go see this in
7495s action look at that so this is the Hub
7500s of the unders City and that's the spirit
7502s braer that I was mentioning you can see
7504s that we have the base you know the base
7505s run rules you know starting time no no
7508s time bonus penalties no potion drop
7510s penalties and we have uh the opportunity
7513s to apply a tribute um we have four
7516s tributes here so you know we'll show
7518s these in a still shot later so you don't
7520s have to like worry about oh what does it
7521s say um but we have four tributes here
7524s that range from Magic uh all the way to
7527s Unique uh to you know accommodate your
7529s your leveling Journeys so for now we
7533s applied the legendary tribute that'll
7535s guarantee uh ancestro uniques at the end
7538s of your run and again this is the list
7540s of potential Bargains that I mentioned
7541s that each tribute has each tribute has
7544s like varying quantities of Bargains
7546s attached to it um so we're going to pick
7548s the passive rank uh legendary amulets
7550s for the low low price of50 million
7553s gold the spirit flame Services don't
7555s come cheap but they're worth it so we
7559s got the portal open and we're going to
7560s hop into the run we're going to have
7562s this play a couple times uh first I just
7564s want to point out the HUD because this
7566s is really kind of your guide through the
7568s experience so you can see at the top
7570s once we exited that Spirit Aura uh the
7572s timer starts and that's a nice little
7574s you know timer at the top right hand
7575s corner of your screen we also display
7577s the number of floors that you have you
7579s know left to Traverse uh very key
7581s information right there to the right
7584s hand side of the objective tracker we
7585s have the Attunement meter and it's
7587s segmented into four ranks again as I
7589s mentioned achieving rank one is the bare
7592s minimum requirement necessary to get the
7594s value of the tribute that you slotted in
7597s all subsequent ranks uh further enhance
7599s the value of that reward so while you
7601s certainly want to strive to get you know
7604s a t minut rank four to maximize your
7606s payout it's not necessary if you're
7608s feeling the pinch of you know the time
7610s pressure that if you at least get at
7612s tumit rank one you can you know run it
7614s to the boss room and still come away
7617s with the thing that you're looking for
7619s um going to point out a couple things
7621s here uh you might have seen let's do the
7623s spirit Beacon so the spirit Beacon is
7625s one of our activity types and completing
7627s it both gives you Attunement a good
7629s splash of Attunement and it applies a
7632s momentary you know Spirit buff that
7634s increases your movement speed and
7636s reduces your was it the skill uh cool
7638s Downs
7640s again you got to move fast in the inner
7642s city so these Spirit beacons are
7644s incredibly useful for getting you to the
7646s next um location whether it's another
7648s Spirit Beacon or the exit um we're also
7652s kind of showing here the Lesser
7653s Afflicted as you can see you know
7655s they're clearly marked in the game world
7658s uh they're all you know orangey glowy so
7660s you can you know keep your focus on the
7662s combat and killing them is what gives
7665s you the time bonuses to extend your run
7669s um I think that's kind of the long and
7670s short of the UND run again this is an
7672s example floor one there's still two more
7674s floors to Traverse to get to the boss
7676s room um but uh yeah let's uh hop there
7680s we go we're into the boss room um so in
7682s this case you know we have finished uh
7683s all three floors and we made it to the
7685s boss room one thing you notice that that
7686s time expiration it stops time drain
7689s stops in the boss room so you just need
7690s to make it to the boss room before that
7692s timer hits zero um this is Aaliyah um
7695s one of our three uh District bosses and
7699s it's important to call out that there
7700s are three total districts to explore in
7702s the under City again that's kind of
7704s tapping into the variety um aspect of
7706s things uh so Aaliyah is again just one
7708s of three um henchmen that own the uh
7711s various districts so in this case we're
7714s at the tail end of this fight we just
7716s you know killed AIA and we see that we
7720s ended this run with a full reward
7723s upgrade of four so now we're going to
7725s get the best possible payout for this
7727s and we came in here looking for
7729s ancestral uh legendaries and
7732s as the spirit Flames promised ancestral
7735s legendaries is what we get and you know
7737s the greater affixes and we also see that
7739s we got an amulet um if we were to dive
7741s into like the amulet we would have SE
7742s that the bargain would have applied to
7744s it as well so the player would have
7745s gotten specifically what they came in
7747s here for um so that's a really quick
7752s snapshot of just like the I guess like
7754s the structure of an unders City Flow I
7757s want to take this time just to dive into
7759s a little bit more details on the
7760s tributes that we on the gameplay footage
7762s and spend a little bit more time with
7764s them so this is an example of four of
7768s our eight total tributes um these are
7770s hand selected primarily just to Showcase
7772s how the tributes are tuned to progress
7776s with your leveling Journeys so we start
7778s off here with the tribute of growth this
7780s is usable in all difficulty levels this
7783s is the tribute that rewards additional
7785s experience when you complete the unders
7787s city um so this is great you know for
7789s leveling up your alts leveling up your
7790s character in general and you can see
7792s here that we start applying the first of
7795s the you know I guess penalties or
7797s challenges for this in the sense that we
7799s have lower starting time we actually
7801s incur a Time bonus penalty now and we
7803s have potion drop penalties um something
7806s also to note is you know this is just
7808s found randomly in sanctuary so as you're
7810s just doing your standard leveling stuff
7811s like the hell Tides or whatever you will
7813s get these types of tributes to say you
7815s know point you to the unders City every
7817s now and again um so let's go back to the
7820s tribute gallery as I like to call it can
7823s we go back to that last slide that we
7825s had up there there we go yeah all right
7827s cool thank you um and then we get to
7829s from there it just gets progressively
7831s more challenging but also progressively
7832s more rewarding for the players um so
7834s tribute of Harmony rewards guaranteed
7837s runes this is a torment uh tier
7839s difficulty um and you can see you know
7842s we just amp up the challenge which each
7844s with each one uh the tribute of Radiance
7846s is the one that we just saw in action
7848s that we guaranteed ancestral legendaries
7851s and the tribute of ascendant as example
7852s kind like the cream of the crop uh
7854s tribute unique tribute that um
7857s guarantees several uniques with an
7859s increased chance of a Mythic unique um
7862s and I just want to call it out here that
7864s I know that the last two tributes say
7866s that you know their Resolute tributes
7867s and they only you know apply rewards to
7870s the player that offered it we do have
7873s variants of both of these that work in
7875s party um so that you know whole is
7877s covered the rest of the tributes that
7879s don't have that distinction they reward
7881s everyone of the it's just these last two
7883s that you know kind of had that little
7884s you know Aster on it um yeah and I think
7888s uh that's that's the gallery of the
7890s tributes and uh again these are mapped
7892s to the rest of the the rest of them are
7894s mapped to a variety of content like the
7896s whisper caches the summoned Lair bosses
7899s and a variety of things that I'm
7901s forgetting on the spot here but yeah
7903s this is a fantastic uh activity to do
7906s when you're somewhat in the mid game of
7910s of your journey so you're going going to
7911s be introduced to this as you're making
7913s your way through the campaign and uh but
7916s the thing I like about it is with all
7917s the progression changes that we've been
7918s looking at this also scales with you and
7920s so this is the type of activity that's
7922s going to stick with you for a while it's
7923s a great way to get control over looking
7925s for the items you're looking for and the
7928s time attack feature of this is really
7929s great yeah and I think the the big thing
7932s here is like it you can do it Solo or
7934s you can do it with a a group so it's
7936s it's it's not like you you you have
7938s other options if you want to bring in a
7939s full party or if you like to just uh
7941s conquer it yourself um and I know a lot
7943s of people in chat are going like hey 50
7945s million for for all that there there are
7947s I'm not sure if you guys saw all the
7948s different Bargains and everything
7949s there's a there's a plethora of
7951s different costs for a lot of different
7953s uh options and depending on what you're
7955s looking for you can obviously Target
7956s specific things you may specifically
7958s want you know uniques or something like
7961s that and that like chaotic uniques I
7963s think had like an obal requirement or
7964s whatever so there's a lot of different
7966s bargain options for players to get and
7968s if you are looking for specific rewards
7970s you have an additional Avenue to do so
7973s which is really cool with Cass under
7975s City so yeah awesome well there we go I
7979s think there's
7983s more yeah the Cur under city is the gift
7986s that keeps on giving so one additional
7989s activity that you'll uh discover as
7991s you're you know romping through the
7992s unders city is our unders City unique
7994s treasure Goblin the portal prankster um
7996s we'll show some gameplay footage in just
7998s a moment but first just want to you know
7999s call out killing him will reward a bonus
8003s chest at the end of the dungeon and in
8006s addition that contains uh just standard
8008s you know treasure Goblin loot runes and
8010s more tributes so it's a really good a
8013s very juicy reward to go after uh the
8015s portal prankster when you run uh come
8017s across him but you would be doing so at
8019s your own Peril because you'll see in
8020s this video that he has a particular
8023s mechanic to him that uh makes a little
8025s bit tricky when you have a
8027s continually timer that that's
8030s continually counting down uh so you'll
8032s see here that when he's aggroed he opens
8034s up a bunch of portals and just like
8035s Benny Hills through them um it's a Chase
8039s so this is kind of T tapping into the
8040s risk fors s reward nature of the under
8042s City where you make decisions based on
8045s how confident you are at the current
8048s state of your run um and again killing
8051s him is very lucrative he doesn't drop
8053s anything aside from Attunement right
8054s from the gecko but all of his rewards
8056s are funneled at the end of The
8058s Experience so again a variety of the
8060s spice of life in the under City and just
8063s yeah really excited to get this into the
8064s hands of uh players yeah it's cool to
8066s see a new Goblin variant right there and
8069s then of course uh you know the ultimate
8072s troll Goblin as you can see in the the
8074s gameplay and that that's that's the risk
8076s reward you were talking about like do
8078s you spend the time and chasing after
8081s this this this specific goland it's
8082s bouncing between different portals as
8084s your time is ticking down and you're
8086s trying to you're trying to progress and
8088s get better rewards and of course if you
8089s succeed and you get everything you get
8091s that extra chest at the end which is
8092s really awesome so it's worth it yeah
8095s most definitely is worth it especially
8096s since you get so much uh progress added
8099s once once you do actually take down the
8101s goblin as well so uh thank you Derek for
8103s walking us through this um we have a
8106s bunch of seats here uh we actually have
8108s a non like physical seat here because we
8112s do actually have one other person that
8113s we're going to be tapping into to talk
8115s to us about the dark Citadel and this is
8117s Mr Jason Bentley who is live via
8120s satellite
8121s yeah that's I to say satellite uh from
8124s the East Coast uh Jason is our lead raid
8126s designer on dark Citadel and uh Jason do
8130s you want to uh talk to us a little bit
8132s about
8133s it absolutely thanks for having me uh as
8136s you heard I'm the lead for the dark
8137s Citadel and we're going to talk about
8139s rise of the kazra this is the very first
8142s multiplayer Focus piece of content for
8144s Diablo
8149s I so as you can kind of guess this whole
8151s thing is about Essence and souls and
8154s sealing them and owning them and just
8158s using it as power go
8162s ahead so why are we here we're here to
8165s fight the first kazra they are taken
8168s over the crater left from the Mage Clan
8170s Civil War blasted a hole into the ground
8173s and they've moved in and they're using
8175s all the souls from the dead clan um dead
8178s Mage clan people to power they crazy
8182s experiments they're really really evil
8184s they are taking people they take uh
8187s their own kind and they turn them into
8189s like power sources and batteries and
8190s they use them and they're all about
8192s resurrecting their dead God Z
8198s girl this all takes place in or it
8201s starts in nantu you start out the whole
8204s quest line in kurast they're going to
8207s people are going to tell you how bad
8208s this is they really don't like having
8210s their friends and family stolen and
8212s taken and drained and having hus
8215s returned so you're going to go on a
8217s quest to go find out what's happened to
8218s these people and see if you can go help
8221s uh a lot of other Heroes have actually
8222s tried this and they have all failed so
8225s really when you get through this entire
8226s experience what you really come back
8228s with is only together can we Prevail we
8231s need to bring some friends with you to
8232s come to do this content you're not going
8234s to be able to do it on your
8240s own once you get through all of this
8243s this actually only happens at tournament
8245s one so this is not a uh early leveling
8248s experience this is something when You'
8249s you're really into the game and you
8251s really need to like move your build
8253s along um so once you enter tournament
8256s one you can go on this Quest and access
8258s the ancient Nexus which is its own town
8260s space with a waypoint of all its own
8262s which gives access to the three dungeons
8264s you can see here these dungeons have
8266s multiple boss fights in each one and
8269s they each take a little bit of time to
8271s get through through uh practice will
8273s help you optimize these runs experience
8275s will help you uh show expertise and and
8279s shepherding other people to show them
8281s how to complete these mechanics and
8283s communication is not required but it
8285s definitely leads to better outcomes
8287s there's a lot of new challenges and
8289s mechanics and there's really no mercy
8292s for the hardcore players so you have to
8293s be good too as you can see right now
8295s we've actually got one party split
8297s across two different Realms doing
8300s different mechanics and help each other
8302s and bring coming back together to bring
8304s down the boss it really takes at least
8307s two players to to do these
8314s mechanics we have multiplayer boss
8316s fights through the entire experience and
8318s we always say the players are stronger
8319s together it's tuned for four players two
8323s players can do these these mechanics but
8326s it means you have to handle the
8327s mechanics and the uh monsters and the
8329s bosses by yourselves we're not going to
8331s duck the uh difficulty for fewer
8335s players we have lots of crazy mechanics
8338s going on we've got people relying on
8340s each other to get through all of this um
8343s there's a lot of hero moments in this
8345s content the best moments we had when we
8347s were play testing this is somebody's
8349s dead and the other person's running
8351s around and they they click the Switch or
8353s they res the other their friend right in
8355s time to jump through the portal or kill
8357s the boss and everyone's just screaming
8360s and having a great time it's really
8362s really fun to work together and see
8364s those moments where like depending on
8366s your your party members really pays
8371s off we also have an exclusive monster
8374s family for the for the dark Citadel uh
8377s these are the newest smartest monsters
8380s you have met these are the first Kaz
8382s they're pretty evil people uh shout out
8385s to the first CER monster family team
8387s they did a great job on all these guys
8389s they are awful they're decadent they're
8391s sophisticated they use a lot of magic
8393s they do a lot of crazy things to like
8395s bring down the
8402s party these are cool looking enemies
8405s that's for sure um I know with uh uh
8408s with at least dark Citadel of course
8410s there's always awesome rewards that are
8413s kind of associated with this Jason do
8414s you want to uh talk to us a little bit
8417s about
8418s those absolutely I think we have that
8421s up yeah let's see if we can get that
8423s queued up here the the joys of of well
8428s we do have we did it oh actually the
8430s quick quality of life Improvement here
8432s we actually have a marker system to to
8433s help uh parties get through the
8435s experience uh you can just drop them
8437s into your emote wheel and then as you're
8440s running through the experience you can
8441s use those emotes to indicate to your
8443s friends and party members hey I found
8445s something of Interest or hey it's over
8447s here this is the way forward and then a
8449s really nice thing is this is avail
8451s aailable outside the Citadel as well
8452s it's not exclusive so you'll be able to
8454s use this through wherever you go with
8455s your party we also have a combat log
8458s during the Citadel experience to help
8459s you understand what's happening uh
8461s especially where you're taking damage
8463s from and in big moments and you've heard
8466s about the party finder that's also
8468s created with obviously Citadel in mind
8470s but it it supports everybody else but we
8473s want to make sure we facilitate getting
8475s lots of people into this content yeah
8478s hopefully now we can talk about Rewards
8480s well before we into that I do want to
8481s make mention cuz that was a really
8483s interesting screen to see the
8484s communication stuff and talking about
8486s party finder one of the things that
8488s we've seen since launch is that our
8491s Cooperative player basis is growing you
8493s know it's growing steadily uh and so we
8496s wanted to make sure that we did a couple
8497s of things first off we wanted endgame
8500s content for them right that's what this
8501s is all about is making sure that we have
8503s that really aspirational end game
8506s content for folks who like to play with
8507s their friends um the other thing is is
8510s that we know that we could let this
8512s spread out into more segments of the
8514s game and so the party fighter was
8516s originally a discussion that we had for
8518s how to support the dark Citadel um but
8521s it is now uh benefiting all the other
8524s activities in our game as well so for
8526s those of you who experien you're seeing
8527s the the early stages of us really
8530s expanding getting people together in the
8532s content that is the best inside of the
8535s game and so it's really exciting but it
8537s does boil down to that communication and
8539s that marker system is something that can
8541s be both used in The Citadel as well as
8543s outside of the Citadel and um I think
8546s that that's going to be really valuable
8547s for accessibility for a lot of folks out
8549s there yep most definitely all right now
8551s on to rewards now we'll talk rewards
8553s sorry I had to get that in there
8555s absolutely so you're actually chasing a
8558s weekly reward that resets on the the the
8561s Tuesday or the day of the week that we
8563s we set so really that's going to drop a
8567s massive ancestral uh Loot drop each time
8570s you pop that open which is only happens
8571s when you complete all three dungeons
8573s you're going to want to chase that thing
8575s that is a huge important drop for a week
8578s but beyond that there's lots of rewards
8580s for repeated runs the Citadel coins are
8582s going to allow you to purchase all these
8585s consumables and you can maximize the
8587s number of coins you get per run by
8589s killing treasury monsters and playing on
8591s higher difficulties like it really
8593s scales up the Citadel coins you get and
8596s why do you care about those well a these
8598s rewards make or so these consumables
8601s really make it uh easier and more fun to
8603s play with groups and parties but it also
8607s allows purchase of the scroll of
8608s restoration so if you want to like just
8611s chase down and buy Scrolls this is a
8614s great place to get do
8615s that six slide for production right
8619s there this live right yeah exactly um no
8623s that's actually really cool to see and
8624s and again the scroll of restoration
8626s being a reward in dark Citadel and like
8628s what we talked about earlier you
8629s actually do get to guarant ones in the
8631s season Journey um and at the same time
8634s those are something that you can find
8635s all around the world but dark Citadel is
8636s like also just like that guaranteed way
8638s of being able to get it as well um so
8640s there's a lot of different variety and
8642s of rewards um but it goes beyond what we
8645s just showed right there there's actually
8647s some really really cool stuff as well
8648s that I know Jason wants to show off
8650s as absolutely I would love to end up on
8654s just the way everyone can show off their
8657s ability to just play this content to the
8659s top levels so we're going to show you
8661s our Premier Gear there's actually two
8663s levels of gear that you can get from
8665s playing the dark Citadel there's the the
8667s normal level gear which you'll get from
8670s torments 1 through three and it's pretty
8673s accessible but what you're seeing right
8674s now is their Premier content which comes
8676s from only completions in tourament 4 so
8682s I hope this is as exciting for everyone
8683s to get as I'm excited to give it to you

8718s as Jason mentioned dark Citadel itself
8721s like you can do with a group of four you
8723s can even attempt it to go for for two
8725s people if you're really skilled you have
8726s that option of being able to do it uh
8728s the party finder featured now being a
8730s part of the the game now you can
8733s actually access party finder find other
8735s people that may want to jump into dark
8737s Citadel and group up with them and of
8739s course we have the additional
8739s communication tools with all the
8741s different pings that you can end up
8742s using and markers that you can end up
8744s using to help kind of guide that whole
8746s entire group there so lots of cool stuff
8748s coming with dark Citadel really cool
8749s endgame content that's coming to a
8751s vessel of hatred and I can't wait to see
8753s people jump into it can't wait to jump
8755s into it myself um but of course uh we
8758s have one last topic that we do want to
8760s talk about with vessel of hatred and
8762s that is our mercenaries feature that is
8765s uh something that we did announce during
8767s Gamescom but we do want to go into a
8768s little bit of a deeper dive today on
8770s that specifically uh so Brent Dan uh do
8773s you guys want to take us through
8774s mercenaries yeah just to kick it off you
8777s know mercenaries is one of those Legacy
8779s features that you've seen in multiple
8780s Diablo games and when we started talking
8784s about this very early on we're like What
8785s is the approach that we can take that
8787s really complement everything else that
8789s we're doing in Diablo for that is that
8791s is different obviously we've been
8792s touching things like itemization and uh
8795s we've been doing a bunch of reworks on
8797s class builds so we knew a couple things
8799s here first we wanted to make sure that
8802s the system uh was built in a way that
8804s could complement your build type right
8807s so every build type has a little bit of
8808s a soft spot and Mer mercenaries is a
8811s really good way of um You Can level them
8814s up in a way that can actually fill in
8815s that soft spot um and the uh other thing
8819s that we really wanted to make sure of is
8821s that they were always useful right and
8824s so as you play along the game like
8827s you're interacting with them in way
8829s different ways than you would just by
8832s leveling up and using them basically as
8835s is a a a power item right and so uh the
8839s way that we folded this in is is far
8841s more robust than we've seen in other uh
8843s systems in the past and yeah I can't
8844s wait for Dan to show it off awesome yeah
8846s let's dive into it so uh I think we can
8849s go to the first slide awesome so we
8851s announced these characters at uh
8852s Gamescom and these are the four
8854s mercenaries that you're going to meet as
8855s you play vessel of hatred early on in
8857s the campaign you're going to meet re
8859s here the guy in the middle and you're
8860s going to lend him a hand in kind of
8862s tracking down these other characters
8863s doing their quest lines and unlocking
8865s them and they're like really involved
8867s quest lines they're pretty awesome they
8868s have cutcenes they have you know a lot
8870s of narrative backstory where you kind of
8871s get to know more about these characters
8873s uh and they have a lot of personality so
8875s they're they're pretty interesting um
8877s and we really want to make them feel
8878s like characters that live in the world
8879s they don't just sit in The Hideout the
8880s whole time when you're running around
8882s and you you might see an event where
8883s they're actually participating in the
8885s event so you may even run into some of
8887s these characters before you unlock them
8890s cool so today I'm going to cover a
8892s little bit more detail than what we
8893s announced at Gamescom I'm going to talk
8896s about play style and perk for each
8898s mercenary I'm going to talk about
8900s reinforcement which is a new way to
8901s interact with mercenaries and then we're
8903s going to talk about bartering and
8904s progression at the
8906s end all right so I'm going to talk about
8908s the play styles for each mercenary and
8910s to start I want to just show an example
8912s of a skill tree so every skill tree for
8915s a mercenary at the very top the starting
8917s node is their perk and this is a passive
8919s bonus you get whenever a mercenary is
8921s hired into your party and they're pretty
8923s awesome they're really powerful
8924s hopefully when you hire a Merc you feel
8925s like they're changing the way you play
8928s um and then every skill tree has six
8929s skills and and 12 upgrades so let's dive
8933s into some examples so for here he's
8936s really like the tank if you need someone
8938s to help protect you uh and his skill
8940s trees kind of split up into um a tower
8943s Shield which is about getting in the
8944s thick of battle tanking things for you
8946s taunting and he also has a round Shield
8949s which is sort of themed around being a
8950s holy
8952s protector so the top node that you start
8954s with for here and this is when you hire
8955s him to your party is Valiant and what
8958s this does is basically if you take a lot
8960s of dam Dage in one hit he's going to fly
8962s in negate that damage block it for you
8965s and he's going to knock down enemies uh
8966s he's also going to Grant you Unstoppable
8968s so he can really save your life so
8970s here's an example where this uh this
8972s Beast is going to hit me and these guys
8973s hit pretty hard so here comes boom so
8976s we're here kind of leapt in he negated
8977s that damage uh and he knocked them down
8980s so that's awesome I imagine hardcore
8982s players will uh gravitate towards this
8985s unless they are risk taker so definitely
8988s a very powerful perk cool let's talk
8991s about some
8992s upgrades um I think we skipped ahead a
8995s slide if we want to go back
8998s one there we go cool so um we're here's
9002s some upgrade examples on re skill tree
9004s the first one draw fire we're going to
9005s show a video in a second whenever I use
9007s a healing potion re here is going to
9008s taunt enemies uh near him so if you're
9011s in danger you need health it's going to
9013s help save you iron Wolf's virtue when uh
9015s re's valiance is triggered he heals you
9018s uh and his cool down is reduced so you
9020s can just get it to happen more often and
9022s he has a shield throw which uh some D3
9024s Crusader players might love where he
9026s Chucks his shield it bounces off some
9027s targets and this kind of marks them so
9029s you can sort of play whacka and if you
9031s hit those targets you'll get healed back
9033s so it's another way to keep yourself
9034s alive all right cool let's check out an
9036s example for draw fire so you're going to
9039s see I use my potion uh the UI would help
9041s you show that but yeah I use the potion
9043s right there we here taunted everybody
9045s sweet I did not die and I'm happy all
9048s right let's go to the next one
9052s so varana we call her the Berserker
9054s Crone she she is a reformed cannibal uh
9057s she's got a pretty interesting backstory
9059s I love her personality she's kind of
9061s zany and crazy uh she's also the cook
9064s for The Mercenaries and I don't know if
9066s I would eat her food I don't really
9068s trust her but uh her skill Tre is kind
9070s of split up into two themes dual wield
9072s axes which is all about visal Cleaves
9075s and bleeds and large mace which is heavy
9079s slams so you may be familiar with the
9081s masac bonus from D3 her perk is very
9084s similar uh where basically you get this
9086s bonus we could jump to the video and as
9089s you kill monsters you're going to see
9090s when I get 10 kills the masacre bonus
9092s kicks in it's going to show up above her
9094s portrait on the left side of the screen
9096s so it should say times 10 cool I now
9098s have a Mas bonus started as I build this
9100s up and I get it to higher thresholds I'm
9102s going to get more and more movement
9103s speed so you're kind of encouraged to
9105s play more aggressive keep this keep this
9108s going before it runs out of time uh and
9110s it sort of snowballs into this fun
9111s gameplay where you're going really fast
9113s so you can embrace your inner Sanic and
9116s uh go real fast with varana as your
9120s hired
9122s Merc all right got some upgrades for
9124s varana so dismembering is
9128s um oh yeah sorry so this one uh it's
9131s going to guarantee an overpower she's
9132s going to knock people down and you get a
9134s guarantee to overpower so if you're
9134s playing Barb it's going to be really
9136s useful reprisal is when you get cced
9139s varana is going to LEAP on the enemy
9140s that inflicted it and knock them down so
9143s this can also save your life and no
9145s Escape is varana does whirlwind this
9147s makes it really big and as she's
9149s spinning around she's kind of grouping
9150s enemies up for you so that can be a fun
9152s one I think we showed both so yeah
9154s dismembering here so she's going to set
9156s us up we get a guaranteed overpower you
9158s do a bunch of damage sweet uh that feeds
9161s into you know a lot of builds and then
9162s we have risal here so I got chained by
9164s that monster she leapt on them knocked
9166s them down basically canceling that for
9168s me
9170s all right cool uh subo the Bounty Hunter
9174s he's themed on Long bows which is uh
9176s precision shooting and traps the other
9178s side of his tree is crossbows heavy
9181s bolts and
9182s explosives uh and his perk is kind of
9184s broken up into two parts so he has a
9186s passive uh component which is he reveals
9188s enemies on and materials on the mini map
9191s and his active component is that he we
9193s call him the Bounty Hunter because he's
9194s going to call out targets during combat
9196s and if you kill that Target you get a
9198s bunch of resource back and also the you
9200s do that the more often he's going to be
9202s casting Seeker so you're you're uh kind

9206s to make sure you're killing his targets
9207s and spending your resource before you do
9209s so and this lets you just cast more
9211s abilities which always feels great all
9214s right let's check out an example so I'm
9216s in town I'm going to walk out here with
9219s subo and you can look at the mini map
9221s top right and it's starting to populate
9223s with uh herbs and or veins and you'll
9226s see all the monsters on the mini map as
9227s well so that's kind of his scouting
9229s component
9231s and uh sorry we're going to have to Loop
9233s this one because I I talk too slowly but
9235s he uh also is marking a Target and you
9238s saw when I killed them I got a bunch of
9243s resource yeah I know I know a lot of
9245s people with subo especially because the
9247s fact that he highlights like or veines
9250s and things like that are pretty huge for
9252s people especially with all the changes
9254s that we're adding to like how materials
9256s can also be used to maybe craft like
9258s legendaries and stuff so uh was kind of
9260s like my personal favorite but it
9263s definitely Embraces I think what Brent
9264s was talking about too where mercenaries
9266s are really about utility and they kind
9268s of add choices that maybe you wouldn't
9270s necessarily pick on your character uh or
9272s they help you just kind of like fill
9274s gaps in your build or maybe encourage
9276s you to do you know have more diversity
9277s in your build maybe they expose new
9279s options for you so it's pretty
9280s interesting all right cool um we're
9283s going to show off some subo upgrades so
9285s first we have share a drink which is uh
9287s whenever he throws his moltov there's a
9289s chance for him to drop a healing potion
9290s for you Mastermind subo's wi trap and
9293s tripmines gain 60% size uh and then you
9296s and subo both have increased crowd
9297s control
9299s duration thrill seeker is um going to
9302s reduce cool Downs for every monster hit
9304s so here's example of Shar drink he threw
9306s a moltov he dropped a potion for me and
9308s that can just help you more consistently
9310s get potions which could definitely be
9312s useful for a lot of
9314s players all right alkin says definitely
9317s a fan favorite uh we call him the
9319s Forsaken child
9320s his tree is sort of split up into two
9322s magic types Fire magic which is all
9324s about burning enemies and making them
9326s suffer and Shadow Magic which is uh
9329s haunting Souls that kind of like apply
9331s dots and spread to enemies uh his perk
9334s is dependent on what your skill tree
9337s choices are so if you're on the fire
9338s side of the tree or the shadow you will
9340s get different uh Buffs and debuffs so
9343s every once in a while he's going to turn
9344s into a demon of one of those forms if
9345s he's on the shadow side you and all the
9348s enemies around him become vulnerable
9350s if he's on the fire side he's going to
9352s make it so all your direct damage
9354s applies um burn to enemies but it's also
9357s draining your resource so he's really
9358s themed around this kiss curse mechanic
9360s and whenever this happens it can be a
9362s huge benefit but also there's some
9364s downsides to it
9365s potentially all right cool so he's
9367s casting some fire skills we're going to
9368s see Alin on the left he's turning into a
9370s fire demon uh this gives him a whole new
9372s skill set he's got imulation he's
9373s burning nearby enemies uh and he's
9375s helping kill everything and then you can
9376s see when I'm doing direct damage it's
9378s applying burn uh but also resources
9380s training this is if I'm on the shadow
9382s side he turned into a Shadow Demon at
9383s the top he's going to do a cool ability
9385s where he pulls everyone in a line lines
9387s them up for you that always feels really
9389s good um and yeah in that one he's making
9392s everyone
9393s vulnerable Sweet let's talk about some
9395s upgrades for alkin so I think this will
9398s be a lot of people's favorites ember's
9400s gift whenever he casts Firestorm if you
9402s stand in it you're getting 33% of your
9405s primary resource per second and we're
9407s going to show a video of that in a sec
9409s terrify uh he does haunt yeah thank you
9413s he's got 30% chance to apply
9415s invulnerable vulnerable to enemies so
9417s another way to get keyw applied to
9418s things and burning chaos that's his old
9420s whenever you cast your old it resets his
9423s wave of flame is really cool it's this
9425s giant fire wave that destroys enemy
9428s projectiles you can kind of like run
9430s with it and fight inside of it and uh
9432s I've seen a lot of people get used out
9433s of that cool okay let's check out
9436s ember's gift so he's going to cast
9438s Firestorm and look at my resource it's
9440s just flying up really fast while I'm
9442s standing in this area so um it's a good
9444s way to to kind of have this happen and
9446s then you just get to spam a bunch of
9447s abilities and murder
9449s Monsters uh so yeah here's a here's a
9452s quick example of you know we do have a
9453s lot of keywords and um ways for
9455s Mercenaries to utilize them and spread
9457s them to enemies so that can help with a
9459s lot of builds too yeah it's nice having
9461s a a an option to like add vulnerable to
9464s to more enemies especially like AOE
9467s doing AOE or anything like that so yeah
9469s really cool to see I know um of course
9472s we have there's other mechanics with
9474s with mercenaries that we did want to uh
9476s talk about so Dan do you want to jump
9478s into how reinforcements actually works
9480s yeah let's talk about
9482s reinforcements um so I guess before I
9485s explain reinforcements there are two
9486s methods of using mercenaries one is
9488s hiring them and that's for solo players
9490s so if you're playing solo you're not in
9492s a party you can hire a mercenary
9494s everyone at all times can also have uh
9497s can have a reinforcement so if you're in
9498s a party everyone has a reinforc M if
9500s you're solo you get both uh and if
9502s you're playing solo they have to be two
9503s different characters so your hired
9504s mercenary has to be different from your
9506s reinforcement all right what the heck
9508s are reinforcements uh so reinforcements
9511s are a new way to interact with mercs
9512s where you can kind of call a mercenary
9514s into battle have them perform a skill at
9516s an opportune moment and you get to sort
9518s of control when that happens and this
9520s reminds me a lot of like old school
9522s fighting games where you could kind of
9523s cast that ability and a character will
9525s flying off screen he'll do something
9526s really cool hopefully that helps you a
9528s lot and uh that's you know I think very
9531s much inspired by that yeah it's like a
9532s cyst they jump in they do something and
9534s then they like pop back out so it's
9536s really cool so you're going to choose an
9537s opportunity which is uh when does it
9539s happen you could link this to any of
9541s your action bar slots so you could say
9543s hey when I press one and I teleport the
9546s mercenary does this skill and then you
9547s choose a skill that you have unlocked
9549s for that mercenary all right let's check
9551s out some examples so this one's quick
9553s I'm going to cast teleport and you'll
9554s see we here up here and then he sort of
9556s flies in battle he does this triple slam
9558s he groups everyone up grouping enemies
9560s up is always good thank you for here I
9562s drop a meteor on their head uh in this
9564s one we cast bone prison and old can
9567s shows up and cast Firestorm for me
9569s there's going to be a lot of
9570s combinations here I think with you know
9572s all the different player abilities and
9573s all the different reinforcement skills
9576s so I think it'll be really interesting
9577s to see how players utilize the system
9579s you can use it more defensively or more
9582s offensively and um hopefully you agree a
9584s lot of the skills uh give you added
9587s utility so I think there's a lot of
9588s opportunities here to mix and match
9590s which would be cool another thing I'm
9592s excited about that is that the system is
9594s built to grow and so our ability to add
9597s more conditions in which you bring them
9599s in and continue to grow potentially the
9601s powers that we could see too it's a very
9604s robust system that can go pretty long
9605s way so it's great yeah cool awesome and
9609s I think finally we want to talk about
9611s some bartering yeah we're going talk
9612s about Rapport which the progression and
9615s then bartering but they're all it's all
9617s tied together all yeah so Rapport is the
9620s progression for Mercenaries and uh we
9623s could go ahead and jump to the first
9626s slide so this is what the Rapport looks
9628s like you may be familiar with this type
9630s of UI uh in this example we're rank five
9633s the first four skill ranks are how you
9635s get your skill points for the skill tree
9636s we want you to unlock all the cool fun
9638s abilities for mercs pretty quickly and
9640s up front after that point it's all about
9643s upgrades for bartering and bartering is
9644s we're going to show it off in a second
9646s um but progressing your mercs improves
9648s the bartering system
9650s which is kind of a way to trade with mer
9652s mercenaries at The Hideout and get
9653s really useful items so um the very last
9657s rank we hovered over it quickly there
9658s you can actually repeat the very last
9660s rank for Mercenaries and continue to
9662s earn the currency so if you say hey I
9664s really like Alin I don't want to level
9666s any anyone else up you could just keep
9668s playing this character and you'll you'll
9669s keep getting resources uh hopefully
9671s we're encouraging you though with these
9672s upgrades to kind of rank up all your
9675s mercs and keep making bartering better
9677s all right let's talk about bartering
9680s so at The Hideout you can talk to Fiera
9683s and uh she will pull up UI where you can
9686s you could trade for items a lot of them
9687s are legendaries and as you upgrade your
9690s mercs you're going to you're going to
9691s basically increase this list so you can
9693s find more interesting things hopefully
9695s you can find some really cool legendary
9696s items that you're excited about um as
9698s you upgrade your Merks you're going to
9699s get more chances for legendaries and
9702s each mercenary has an aspect category
9704s associated with them so oldin for
9706s example uh gives you resource uh um
9710s aspect caches so if you level up alkin
9713s that has a chance instead of getting a
9714s resource legendary you're going to get a
9715s resource legendary aspect cach and in
9718s this case we open one of those caches
9720s sweet I got a bunch of items um this
9722s it's not you know exactly Target farming
9724s but it's a way to increase your chances
9726s of you know things you may be looking
9728s for there's going to be a lot of other
9729s really useful items in here like uh
9731s crafting materials boss summoning parts
9734s um some masterworking recipes things
9736s like that and that's it so you can uh
9740s restock the supply on this and this the
9742s currency you re uh you reroll this
9745s inventory with is the same currency that
9747s you're spending to buy items so you kind
9749s of have to pick and choose like do I
9750s want to roll or do I want to wait and
9753s hopefully you see things that you're
9754s interested in and you buy them and then
9756s every day when you log in you get one
9757s free reroll uh just trying to be nice to
9761s the players hopefully uh you get what
9762s you want without having to waste all
9763s your pil marks and I think that's all we
9766s have for Mercenaries today so thank you

9856s said we're listening we're listening I
9858s actually feel like we're well beyond
9859s that that point at this at this moment
9862s like we really feel like the community
9864s is now one of our team members and we're
9867s developing together at this point and
9869s and we're we're starting to all pull in
9872s the same direction and we've learned so
9874s much right we come out with season 1 we
9877s took some lumps there right we knew we

9882s dialogue that we've had has led up to

9889s that the community is is really a part

9907s really fine-tuning the way we could get

10291s that we have been getting specifically
10293s about or specifically with vessel of
10296s hatred and of course like the base game
10298s um I think we have a cute upload like
10299s how will crossplay work for those
10300s playing with and without the expansion
10303s um this is actually a really good
10304s question because you know we people are
10308s thinking like oh are you guys like
10309s funneling them off or like if if you
10311s only have Diablo 4 they just like
10313s shunned off to some island or something
10315s like that and that is that is not the
10317s case you can still play with friends uh
10319s who may only have the base game even if
10322s they're on Xbox and your PC or
10324s PlayStation and PC etc etc so there is
10327s that option um what's also kind of cool
10330s is uh an interaction that I know that um
10333s if let's say you owned it on PC and
10335s Battlenet for instance and then uh for
10338s vessel patri but then the base game was
10341s only on Xbox for your own personal Xbox
10343s and you jump back over to your Xbox if
10345s you have like Rune words on your on your
10348s sorc for instance uh you still can
10351s actually use those run work yeah so it's
10354s it's it's still something that's going
10356s to be there I know that um one of the
10358s the the things that um the team was
10360s looking at was like Hey if you if you
10362s earned it in the other game you can
10363s still use it so um it's more so the
10367s things within vessel of hatred like
10369s Spirit born or the region of nantu uh
10373s those things just wouldn't be available
10375s for that base game user or if you jumped
10377s over onto the base game so yeah that's
10380s also why we gave everyone the 10 levels
10381s we want everyone to be able to play with
10383s each other everyone is going to be able
10385s to be at the same eye power all that
10386s good stuff yeah so it's a it's a cool
10388s little uh like extra thing for for for
10391s people and I know it does clarify uh a
10394s lot specifically on that um this was
10397s probably the biggest thing that people
10401s asked about during PTR and so
10404s Brent uh this is from razzled Dazzle
10408s darus uh this is actually from a lot of
10410s people uh speaking of D2 like speaking
10413s of D2 I'm wearing my D2 jacket uh will
10417s we get the D4 campfire screen back so uh
10421s we were talking about it during the
10422s intertial just a little bit uh yeah I
10424s think if if we could feel a Vibe through
10427s a monitor like that was the moment that
10431s uh that came through you know we we hear
10433s it loud and clear one of the things that
10435s we are doing is trying to set ourselves
10437s up for success for adding more classes
10440s to the mix and uh so the campfire is one
10443s of those things where we're taking a
10444s look at it and trying to figure out how
10446s how that would work and uh so we updated
10449s it where we are kind of like really in
10451s and you don't get that initial setup uh
10454s so that is something that like
10455s immediately when the feedback started
10457s coming through the team started to
10458s mobilize and and talk about what we can
10460s do turning it around in time fast enough
10463s for like vessel of hatred was um we had
10466s other things like balance and polish
10467s that we really wanted to pay attention
10468s to make sure some of the UI elements for
10471s some of the new features were in a good
10472s spot so we hear you um uh I love the
10477s fact that the nostalgia means so much uh
10480s and so the the team is actively talking
10482s about it and we'll be able to get back
10483s to you in the future awesome yeah that
10486s was uh by far a very very popular topic
10490s after after PTR they're like where's the
10492s campfire see like the Flames kind of
10494s like in the screen but where is like the
10496s fullon campire um we have a question
10498s from Ram zero uh which is uh will there
10501s be more renowned and statues of Lilith
10504s in this expansion how does that
10506s specifically work yeah we're not going
10508s to be doing statues of Lilith
10509s specifically um we're going to be having
10512s a a new Statue type uh tenur ten of
10516s accurat which is it's not going to give
10518s you any um points but it is working
10521s towards Renown and so there's still a
10523s lot of discoverability In the Zone but
10525s we're we're shifting things to work more
10527s for Renown yeah and and statues of L of
10530s course are still
10533s in thank you for clarifying um the stats
10535s we're just not giving stats for the the
10537s tenants of acat because we saw how
10538s frustrated players were with like having
10540s to do this sort of activity to get more
10542s powerful so it's a lot more leaning into
10544s the collectible aspect yeah we didn't
10546s want these to feel like a chore that you
10547s needed to do in order progress your
10549s player power it's all about the the
10550s discoverability right in the in the new
10552s Zone yeah and I I and I will say that uh
10555s the other thing with um Renown
10558s specifically like there was we made
10560s changes something we talked about during
10561s the PTR but we kind of uh optimized it a
10564s little bit better because there was like
10566s Paragon points at the last tier of
10568s renown and that's actually been like
10570s swapped back around now so it's more of
10572s like the oal upgrades are at the last
10574s year it's easier to get that potent
10576s power from Paragon we also just sort of
10578s reduced how much Renown you need for a
10579s lot of these things so if you missed out
10581s on Renown when the game came out it's a
10583s lot easier to get that power yeah it's
10585s good good way for people like especially
10587s friends who maybe are jumping into de
10588s before just to like kind of catch up
10590s specifically um from that end um one
10593s thing this this just on on me that I did
10595s want to also mention is that you know
10597s back in um season three we introduced uh
10602s The Gauntlet uh and that that has you
10604s know the leaderboard mechanics and stuff
10606s like that one thing I do want to
10607s actually do a quick call out on is like
10609s when season six starts and when vessel
10611s of hatred actually does ship uh we do
10613s plan on actually sunsetting uh The
10615s Gauntlet and and the leaderboard
10617s functionality there does that mean
10618s leaderboards are going away forever no
10621s that doesn't mean leader boards are
10622s going away forever we're actually
10623s looking at new ways of potentially uh
10625s finding a home for it yeah i' rather say
10628s like leader boards are vaed as we do a
10630s big reassessment on how that applies to
10633s the the new progression actually that
10634s we're looking at uh releasing with
10636s season 6 so I think that there's a lot
10639s of opportunity there but uh again we're
10641s we've made so much change it's a time to
10643s take a deep breath and then take a look
10645s at the things that we really want to
10646s invest into yeah awesome um almost
10649s forgot about that I wanted to mention
10651s that um there's a question from avian
10653s which is saying like hey how does group
10655s finder work um this was actually
10657s available during PTR and I know not
10659s everyone got to experience PTR but uh
10662s kind of like party finder itself of
10664s course you know you can use it across
10665s multitudes of activities from dark
10667s Citadel Beyond dark Citadel which is uh
10670s being introduced in vessel of hatred but
10672s uh it is a feature that you can also use
10675s um or that that allows you to actually
10677s use filters and different ways of
10679s searching uh uh for specific groups and
10682s people so uh we do recommend jumping in
10685s checking out group uh the the party
10686s finder it's actually super super awesome
10689s uh and I know there's going to be
10690s improvements that will continuously be
10692s made to it yeah another system that
10693s we're trying to develop in a way that
10695s can grow with the player and so uh we
10697s got it out into PTR try to get an
10699s initial round of feedback on the types
10701s of filters that we can potentially see
10703s you know as we add activities to the
10704s game we want to make sure that those are
10706s plugging into it as well we do think
10708s that this game is a ton of fun if you're
10710s playing together and so we've designed
10712s it to do exactly that um we have a
10716s question regarding Opals and tributes uh
10719s that we kind of showed off tributes of
10720s course being part of cir under City
10722s Opals being part of the new season uh
10725s this question was from PVE sweat

10734s great I think the initial reaction is
10736s seeing new seeing some of these new
10738s consumables um so Tim I think this would
10740s be a question for you like seeing these
10742s new consumables are they actually like
10744s stackable in inventory like how yeah
10746s yeah yeah you can stack them in
10747s inventory in fact if you want you have
10749s the option you can go just Farm the Run
10750s Walker over and over again get a whole
10752s bunch of the Opals um and then just okay
10755s I'm going to play now for hours and
10756s hours with the buff active if that's you
10758s want to do and tributes as well are
10760s stackable awesome I did like the fact
10762s too I don't know I can't recall if we
10764s mentioned it but you get two tributes
10766s with every drop yes and so you sorry two
10769s opal two opal sorry yeah so you can like
10772s use one now and save one for later and
10774s so you can really determine like you can
10776s actually stack these up for a longer
10778s play session uh later on if you wanted
10780s to play in the weekend and actually
10782s really dig in um there is a question
10786s regarding mercenaries it's actually a
10787s question I've seen
10789s uh there maybe it's a two-parter but uh
10792s a lot of people are asking specifically
10794s like hey uh do mercenary how does the
10797s progression of mercenaries kind of carry
10799s over um is it something that's across
10801s like the whole entire account or uh is
10804s it like from season to season how does
10806s that specifically work yeah so they're
10808s partition wide so if you're playing in
10809s the season um and you unlock the mercs
10814s and you progress a bunch of them and
10815s then you roll an ALT that progression is
10817s still there uh but we do reset every
10820s season because it's a part of the power
10822s journey and we want to make sure you're
10823s doing that but as you're playing there's
10825s a lot of benefits to investing into them
10827s if especially if you're going to roll a
10828s second
10829s class um there is a question I I'm not
10834s sure if others will be able to get this
10835s one but uh this might be tied to some of
10838s the the Rune word stuff that we showed
10840s but this is God King moonin says uh how
10845s do those uh spirit wolves damage scaling
10848s work I I think they're talking
10850s specifically about uh the Rune words
10853s that we were showing and everything like
10854s that yeah I can talk a bit about that um
10858s believe the the uh spirit wolves uh are
10863s not currently scaling with things like
10865s um if you have summoning damage for a
10868s necromancer a lot of that damage scaling
10870s talks directly to your skeleton summons
10872s at the moment uh so it I don't believe
10875s they'll necessarily scale with um those
10877s sources I'd have to check on
10878s precisely which ones um it does U but
10882s that's definitely something that that
10883s we're aware of and and really want to
10885s make sure that we can deliver on that
10887s fantasy and and we'll be looking at
10888s making updates to uh to minions and
10891s summons as a general matter going
10893s forward uh to really make sure that
10894s they're they're scaling with the right
10896s things that that players expect uh to
10898s really make those builds uh you know
10900s feel natural and synergistic uh as you
10902s would expect um so that's definitely an
10904s area of focus for us moving forward yeah
10906s we definitely have talked a lot about
10907s this on it'd be cool if you could be a
10909s Summoner Barb called ancients and like
10912s having them dealable gear damage so
10914s that's something we definitely talk a
10915s lot about yeah we don't have any
10917s particular thing to announce or or the
10919s exact um initiative at at this moment
10921s but uh it's definitely on our radar and
10923s it's something we are actively working
10924s on and talking about um all the time
10926s awesome um I know that uh I am the burm
10931s as this is back to Tim actually because
10933s I think you had mentioned like oh
10934s farming realm Walkers and they're going
10936s like okay so is it a world event how
10938s often does it spawn like what like do we

10961s area there's likely to be a bunch of
10962s other people helping you take down this
10964s boss and then the Run Walker itself does
10967s pop up in another location in sanctuary
10970s pretty much right away there's a slight
10971s break but at any given time we want the
10973s experience to be I log in I'm ready to
10976s go play I see like I don't have any
10977s Opals can I go get some we want the
10979s answer to pretty much always be yes like
10980s there's always a ram Walker up somewhere
10982s that you can go kill so um I guess you
10984s could get slightly unlucky like it was
10986s he just died but you're not waiting more
10988s than a few minutes before another one's
10989s going to pop up and you can go kill that
10991s one so if you want to chain Farm them
10993s you can yeah just run back to town
10994s vendor some stuff by the time we come
10996s back it'll probably be like you know an
10997s ideal time to Farm it so it's actually
10999s really good to hear that it's just
11001s always available for players uh pretty
11003s or nearly always available for players
11005s uh question from Plucky villain for
11007s season 6 on live like from a tuning and
11009s balance perspective uh is pit 100 still
11012s intended to be like that unobtainable
11014s goal or is there uh are we expecting
11017s some of like the most skilled players
11018s and dedicated players to kind of clear
11020s it yeah I'd say we will be surprised but
11025s not surprised I guess to see people get
11027s to pit tier 100 just with the amount of
11029s things that we're adding into the game

11032s talked about how much volatility has
11034s been introduced in the expansion we
11035s actually think that's really fun like
11037s there's a ton of new things to explore a
11040s ton of new things to Break um and we
11042s think that probably most people won't
11044s get to 100 but you might get a surprise
11047s if you go to 100 and and go past it yeah
11050s we might have done something there yeah
11052s we talked quite a bit about where the
11053s deep end of the pool is right and so
11056s around 80 around 80 yeah but uh yeah I'm
11059s really looking forward to see which kind
11061s of streamers out there actually push way

11064s definitely um your Sparrow asks uh if we
11067s complete the campaign in an eternal
11069s realm will we be able to skip it when we
11071s create a seasonal character yes as soon
11073s as you complete the campaign for the
11075s first time you'll be able to skip it
11076s very similar to what we did in the base
11077s game yeah and I I think there's actually
11079s like additional nuances that we've added
11081s with like vessel hatred like for
11083s instance if you are brand new to Diablo
11086s of course we recommend you start from
11087s the the the the base game and experience
11090s the campaign and that Journey but uh
11093s even if you are coming into Diablo 4
11096s with vessel of hatred and you just want
11098s to start with vessel of hatred you
11100s really just need to complete that
11101s prologue of the base game and then you
11104s will then get that option I believe to
11106s skip the base campaign and you can
11107s actually jump into the uh the expansion
11110s campaign you actually don't even have to
11112s complete the prologue oh there we go you
11114s took out that you're a liar you're a
11116s liar and we've taken great care of you
11118s too so like if you're new and you're you
11121s skip forward when you go to go into uh
11125s vessel of hatred we actually do Recaps
11127s so we'll catch you up on the story even
11128s if you decide to do it so if your
11130s friends are all way ahead of you and you
11132s want to skip so that you can catch up
11134s you're good yeah we got one of those
11136s like in the last episode of
11139s whatever really good yeah it's actually
11141s really cool to watch so just in case if
11142s you're new to everything there's another
11144s detail too which is like if once you
11145s play through the vessel of hatred story
11149s section um we want way more players to
11152s get into the end game we notice that
11153s there's a lot of folks out there that
11155s once they get their the big uh story
11158s beats done um it's not really clear on
11160s where to go from there and so we created
11163s a custom Quest that can actually Bridge
11165s you out into the endgame and so if you
11166s can continue following your golden
11168s bobles that would be super good cool

11181s see it obviously they think we're psycho
11183s because we're like looking the co view

11215s that that type of situation or if I can
11217s conquer it with like maybe it if if it's
11220s four people and we dropped it three like
11222s you can adapt and kind of work your way
11224s through it you can like we said uh your
11227s the game is the The Citadel is balanced
11229s for four but if that was to drop as long
11231s as you got two strong players still in
11233s the mix you should be good to go so yes
11236s it makes it more difficult I'd have a
11237s firm conversation with the person who
11239s decided to drop in the middle of a fight
11241s um but uh but yeah it's you're still um
11244s going to be able to progress through it
11246s awesome cool well I know uh we've been
11248s going for a while here um and uh we
11251s wanted to grab as many questions as
11253s possible so we don't keep people too
11254s long because the biggest thing as well
11256s is like after at the end of the stream
11257s we are releasing the patch notes and I
