I'm new to this game and have been having a blast playing on a server. Now I want to try the game with a friend on another server with lower ping.

However, when joining, the game freezes at "Downloading mods 0%" part. Sometimes it goes up to 33%. After a minute or two, the main menu reappears in the background but the "Connecting..Downloading Mods" message remains there.

This happens for every server other than the one I usually play on (Aeternum-something).

Things I've tried: Restarting the game Restarting PC Reinstalling the game Changing ISPs Switching PCs

The servers I'm trying to join have 120-150 ping for me. (Lowest I can get for servers in EU). However, the server I am able to join has 170 ping. So it does not seem like a ping-related issue.

Any help is appreciated!

White-Tiger and the other officials have no mods to download, so this message appearing is worrying. I'd suggest to remove the whole Strange Loop Games folder in AppData/LocalLow and trying again. (It's a hidden folder in your user folder, you might need to change Windows settings to see it)

If that doesn't work, an additional full uninstall and reinstall would be the next thing to try. This likely is caused by mods and unfortunately we do not offer support for modded clients, but the nuclear solution should work in any case.

Deleting SLG folder in LocalLow worked!

Seems like I have to delete the folder everytime I switch servers.

Thank you!

No, you should not need to do that, either there is a permission problem or one of the mods is faulty.
