[2021] On controller, is there any way to make left stick not select stuff when the consumable/abilities wheels are up?

So an issue I've kinda had is when I hold X or B to bring up one of the little wheels where you can select a consumable/device to use or what have you, it's possible, and very easy for me to accidentally select something when I navigate my ship with the left stick at the same time. Is there a way to change this?
