171s to cover a couple of things just a
173s little little tidbits we've been working
175s on some a ton of content oh my gosh it's
178s like it's actually an absurd amount of
180s stuff that we've been working on behind
182s the scenes
183s um I can't tell you about most of it
185s because it's content that uh we're
187s planning to release in these really
189s beautiful windows and you're gonna be
190s like Yay uh but it's coming along really

194s and in the meantime I've kind of like
195s been poking around with team members uh
197s trying to get something to like give you
199s all right because these these Friday
201s streams you don't want to hear about
202s what's to come especially most of the
205s stuff that you already know about no no
206s you want to see stuff you want to
208s experience those things and that's what
211s I have for you today so we're going to
213s be covering three specific things the
215s first are going to be a couple of new
217s enemy types added to the outlaw faction
219s the second is the progress we've made on
222s the revamping of the racing system I
224s think several of you are going to be
226s really thrilled a lot of you might not
228s actually care that's okay
230s um we're actually getting to a point
231s where we're really satisfied with this
232s mini game it's kind of getting fun like
235s there's there's some elements to it that
237s are are quite Pleasant so I'm going to
238s be showing that off and then the last
240s thing we're going to be going through a
242s couple of more we're going to be doing
243s more unknown signals I said that weird
245s so more unknown signals and I know that
248s some of you all
249s um you might not even have done that
251s many unknown signals because you've just
253s been going to the point point so I
254s completed the missions everything I want
256s to put emphasis on you know uh unknown
260s signals on distress calls because like
263s we add that to the game to add more
265s variety of how you're acquiring gear of
268s how you are uh implementing your build
271s into the game Space like your play style
274s um we want to do that type of stuff
275s which is why we're including these
277s elements and more variety is only going
279s to build that up further like it's
281s multiplicative with every single one we
283s add so we got two new ones
285s that I want to show you and where that
287s progress is going so the first thing
289s we're going to do oh my gosh look at

301s diving in and looking at a couple of new
303s enemy types first

406s this is a big old bulky guy at least he
409s appears to be as such he's got like some
412s I don't know like Grinders on the front
414s does not look Pleasant if he were to Ram

418s but overall he's got a pretty nice body
420s and some you know I don't even know
422s what's going on with these engines but I
423s dig it like that's that's kind of like
425s stylish but also like strangely looks
429s similar to the back end of a gunship
433s and and some sort of semblance of it
437s but otherwise this new guy this
439s Tormentor
441s operates a little bit more
445s than a ship
446s now I have been told that his movement
450s AI is not finalized at this point
453s but uh this guy is
457s he basic let me say that and being that
461s this is an elite
464s he's also pretty healthy
468s let's see if he can fire off some of his
469s weapons no I'm just gonna block all of
471s his weapons because he's actually firing
473s missiles I don't know if you can see it
475s at all
477s the next one I'll actually let him shoot
479s me I just wanted to really take him out
485s but uh yeah so long as you keep fire on
488s them
490s they aren't going to be able to uh
492s really punish you too much let's uh

520s that he's firing and see how evasive he
522s is look at my ship movement and then

532s he does this cheeky little bit look at

538s so he really wants to put some
540s punishment with these missiles and
541s you'll also notice that he's always
542s facing me like he's doing all this
545s strafing very similar to like what a
547s drone does now
549s um as I mentioned some of this AI
552s some of this AI on this enemy is still a
554s little bit uh wonky so he will have
557s these key moments where he looks at a
560s different points to move towards fairly
562s quickly I'm kind of seeing if he kind of
564s darts off in the direction he did it
567s earlier okay so something like that you
569s see he's moving around
571s in those moments where he's moving
573s around he'll actually turn his ship and
576s boost in that direction instead of just
578s move exactly like a drone so he will
580s actually operate like a ship as well
583s instead of only like a drone
587s hey guys almost Dawning him but he was
589s ready to show he's been a fun little
591s addition that missile barrage and how he
593s lines up with your ship means you have
595s to be a bit more careful when he's
596s present
598s in order to uh evade
603s generally speaking you can kind of get
605s out of The Fray with most uh Circle
608s scraping
613s except when you Circle strafe a bit more
615s you can still hit you
627s man I'm taking a lot of damage
631s to realize I need to upgrade some of
632s this stuff in this ship

802s add more variety to the gameplay as a
805s whole so that your builds can be more
808s viable certain enemy types and they can
810s also provide unique challenges based on
812s the enemies that come into play against

821s nothing too crazy new over here it's the
824s Proto Scout Outlaw Scout and the Drone
826s buddy
838s but some of you guys may recall uh some
844s some artwork that we showed a long time
846s ago oh my gosh
849s I hope you haven't forgotten about all

852s because we're still working on on things
854s that are going to be

859s that you can encounter in the game Space
864s because here at Rockfish we like to uh
868s we like to keep our promises

909s composition and not just steamrolling

914s say that my most recent conversations
917s with our development as of right now
921s um it's kind of like whenever we add new
922s enemy types especially because it's
924s early access we're just kind of like
926s throwing them into the game so they kind
928s of just generate everywhere
930s but uh do note that it's more than
933s possible for us to restrict certain
935s enemy types to generate in certain
936s locations so like there could very much
939s be in the future I'm not gonna say that
941s it's going to happen because I think
943s that's kind of getting to a dangerous
944s territory but some of the concepts that
946s we have on the table some of the things
948s that would be kind of fun to play around
949s with is where you know similar to how
952s you go to deep fields of the shattered
953s planetoid you encounter Blood star right
956s um well even just like your standard
958s Outlaw there's a level that you have to
961s reach before certain Outlaw types even
964s show up and some of you have actually
966s experienced this through your high risk
968s areas when you restarted the game
970s where when you do a high risk area and
972s you're super low level you fight a
974s ravager
976s instead of a destroyer
979s this is one of the first looks that you
982s guys have actually unlike how certain
984s enemy types will appear at certain
986s places or levels and stuff like that
989s um so yeah there will very likely be
991s more discussion on what that looks like
993s because you know if everything generates
995s everywhere then that could also kind of
997s dilute that pool that you're talking
998s about that I just read in regards to
1001s like needing a unique composition to
1002s overcome
1004s um so yeah I mean there's definitely
1006s those uh discussions happening
1008s internally
1009s um we'll see what's the best fit because
1012s we want that variety to feel good we
1014s want your play styles to feel like
1016s you've earned the ability to overcome uh
1020s certain enemy types and like faster than
1023s others or like you know make it more
1024s optimal against masses versus a single
1026s Target you know all that type of stuff
1029s another Tormentor Let's uh let's head on

1033s hopefully we'll get the other one soon
1045s it starts warping in I'm gonna kind of
1047s leave him alone so you can kind of see
1048s how he's going to follow me along
1049s because they're also pretty fast see

1057s just uh in maneuverability to like the

1062s and man we are by leaving him alone and
1065s we're trying to fight these other
1066s enemies like look at that barrage of
1067s missiles that's coming at us can be
1069s pretty deadly actually
1073s so it's a strong support ship for the
1077s Outlaws

1135s not even looking at at this point this
1137s is terrible oh my gosh what is this

1215s where does this come from an outlaw
1217s Raider that people were guessing
1221s oh my goodness yes the Raider and you're
1225s gonna look at this and be like wait a

1228s yeah the Raider remember how I said that
1232s this is actually in the game like in a
1234s stream ago or so
1236s remember that doesn't this look
1238s particularly familiar
1242s isn't there a design Motif going on here
1244s that you're like wait a second yep he's
1248s back
1249s these Raiders made their first
1251s appearance in Aerospace one and man were
1253s they a doozy in their support role
1256s whenever you had a group of enemies to
1258s take on the Outlaws with a Marauder uh
1262s with uh oh my gosh with a Raider excuse
1264s me
1268s well I guess it would be a a Marauder in
1271s outer space one
1273s goodness
1275s but these Raiders like they're uh they
1278s very much do not stop
1282s trying to disable trying to uh to mess
1285s you up while everyone else is just
1286s pummeling you so in a lot of these cases
1289s these new enemy types serve as a sort of
1293s distraction point right
1295s serve as a distraction point for where
1299s you're trying to focus in on your
1300s engagement because in a lot of cases the
1303s Drone types are going to possibly be
1306s your first priority because as you all
1308s know these drones I mean they get up
1310s close and personal and you're not
1312s dealing with them that chip damage is
1314s preventing your shield from regenerating
1316s it's
1318s um like it's being a distraction on your
1321s minimap like just trying to like figure
1323s out where things are at
1326s oh my goodness
1328s but if you have a bunch of drones with
1331s something like a freaking Tormentor
1333s firing missiles at you from afar like
1335s this uh wait no that's a prospector okay
1338s well that's another example
1339s then now you have to start making
1341s decisions like well you know what do you
1343s do like are you gonna like zoom in as
1345s fast as you can
1347s are we gonna try and like
1350s go to a different tactic
1352s and like get our distance hide behind
1354s something are we gonna like Chuck
1356s secondaries
1359s we just want to diversify that skill set
1361s that benefits players especially who
1363s like to go those different routes

1382s and depending on the composition of the
1383s enemies that you're facing right
1385s depending on that composition you are
1387s going to have a number of decisions you
1391s have to make very quickly
1394s it's interesting I was reading a couple
1395s of the reviews uh prior to the stream
1397s and what was fascinating about is that
1400s there's a number of people that are kind
1401s of like talking about how
1404s um
1405s oh man where was I even going with this
1406s it basically like
1410s pile of Engagement can come down to just
1413s like
1418s and to a degree that's true you can do
1422s that
1424s but we've seen through a number of
1426s streams and through screenshot sharing
1428s and just stories uh from like the
1430s Discord and from the forums like that
1433s diversity of unit types has been
1436s changing the way that you all have been
1437s approaching the game like changing the
1439s way that you use devices instead of
1441s being something aggressive to something
1442s more supportive
1445s and it's been interesting and fun to
1446s witness
1447s and we're excited to continue that
1450s expansion through more enemy types

1462s transition and answer some of the
1463s questions that you guys have
1466s um destroying all the little oh gosh I
1468s look over somebody's like yeah looter
1470s shooter and the streamer goes into his
1472s inventories like let's just destroy

1475s have I'm only doing it because I'm
1477s streaming trying to get focused in so

1598s squared away for dlss 1.0 uh let alone
1602s if we're going to move into that 2.0
1604s state so when we or if we I should say
1608s if when we decide to move into that next
1611s stage of the game we're going into 2.0
1614s 2.1 3.0 whatever that looks like we will
1617s make those appropriate announcements and
1619s say hey guys this is what we're gonna do
1621s because at this time
1624s we're not sure
1626s the fact of the matter is we're honestly
1628s not sure we are not 100 devoted to the
1632s cause and so uh we would far more get
1636s that side ironed out to ensure that it's
1638s going to be a powerful tool at your
1640s guys's disposal while playing ever space

1643s um or not before we dive into that
1646s direction and uh yeah so we'll let you

1664s gunship with the last update it feels
1667s really well done before it felt like he

1684s we did do some tweaking to the gunship

1687s um specifically the turret we
1690s fixed a number of problems on the turret
1691s oh dear uh so yes yes the gunship's
1695s definitely gotten some love uh if you're
1697s speaking on the front of like its
1699s maneuverability or anything like that
1701s I'm not seeing anything specifically
1703s listing that but uh our team is is known
1706s to kind of like sneak in some tweaks
1708s here and there from time to time and uh
1711s sometimes it's hard to list out every
1713s single little tweak that has occurred um
1716s I know for myself like with my gunship
1718s play there's been a lot of adjustments
1720s that have gone in a much better
1722s Direction
1724s um so uh for me uh the gunship play also
1729s feels so much better than before and uh
1732s we're still not quite done with all of
1734s the ships in fact so so gunship's gonna
1736s get more love as well as every single
1738s one of the player ships we got a couple
1739s more things uh to come for for every
1741s single one of them I'm glad that you're
1744s feeling an improvement that means a lot
1746s because like the changes we made are
1748s kind of sort of subtle but we feel are
1751s important for players to get that
1754s enjoyment factor out of the game so
1756s good feedback good to hear that
1761s all right last question uh for this
1763s section from Fred specpet over on
1766s YouTube are you guys going to do
1768s something about Circle strafing being
1771s overly powerful it seems the answer to
1773s 98 of the encounters to win
1777s so that's a very particular question
1780s um I think the short answer is no
1784s that's the short answer
1786s um there's a very expansive conversation
1789s that goes on around that
1791s um and a lot of that conversation starts
1794s pulling up some very interesting topics
1796s in regards to
1798s difficulty settings and
1801s um
1803s various challenges in the game
1805s um but one of the things that we are
1808s looking to do as we just kind of like
1810s showed off this outlawed Tormentor is
1813s provide some
1816s challenges some some wrenches in the
1819s cogs is that the no some how does that
1822s phrase go we're trying to make it more
1823s difficult for players who just resort to
1825s one little tactic right
1827s um certain players that like to fly up
1829s close and personal like I've been doing
1830s in this game you're seeing me get a
1832s little bit punished by those long-range
1833s Shooters like a Tormentor harassing me
1836s with missiles or that prospector that
1838s bloodstar prospector with its Thermo gun
1842s um but I'm taking out drones easy peasy
1845s any Scout that's in my face like I
1846s basically one shot it
1848s um it's just gonna depend on a number of
1851s those factors and we want to diversify
1853s those factors of your play style even
1856s further through these enemy types so
1858s that things like Circle strafing are
1861s beneficial maybe even most of the time
1863s because that's what people get used to
1865s but then in also certain situations they
1869s very much are not beneficial and can
1871s actually hurt the player so you have to
1873s know when to use it or in this case when
1876s not to use it
1878s so but that stuff's going to kind of
1880s come with um AI balance and control and
1883s uh you know new enemy design there's a
1887s lot that comes with that but these are
1888s things that we do think about and things
1890s that we want to accomplish level 25 woo
1893s so that's another really really great
1895s question

2011s um in addition to kind of the revamp
2012s that we've been working on for them
2015s we also are tying them to uh certain
2018s events if you will so if you do like
2021s racing I think that you're going to have
2022s a lot of fun with uh how these kind of
2025s come across and
2027s what you can accomplish now um super
2030s super obvious but have to mention
2033s regardless because somebody's out there
2035s and there I know you're not thinking it
2037s these numbers are not final
2040s okay they're not final this UI not a
2045s hundred percent final like we're still
2047s there's still some subtle tweaks and
2048s everything okay but uh know that we are
2051s very pleased with how these elements are
2053s coming together to make racing a bit
2056s more fair
2057s quite across the board now

2064s now with my Stinger I'm probably gonna

2098s Rings and The Time are actually closer
2100s to the middle of the screen now so you
2102s can actively see that as you're going

2116s you'll also notice that there's of
2118s course like differences in um the times

2162s if you're just like trying to complete
2164s the game right you're going for the 100
2166s completion right and say that the racing
2168s minigame is part of that completion what
2171s that means is that you just have to
2173s finish the races we don't want to
2176s restrict 100 completion by requiring you
2179s guys to become the best pilots in
2181s everspace too like there's there's a big
2183s separation between those things so we
2186s are designing specifically bronze silver
2189s and gold to be much more for like the
2191s general audience so if you've never
2193s played a space game in your life uh you
2195s should uh probably be reaching bronze
2198s even the first time you uh do a race uh
2201s but you'll likely get close to Silver
2203s And if you have uh some fairly decent uh
2208s skills and piloting your ship you're
2211s probably even going to achieve that gold
2213s um on your first try the Platinum level
2216s and again the numbers that you see on
2218s screen are not final so just ignore them
2219s for the moment but Platinum level we
2221s actually want to challenge more of the
2223s hardcore racing audience so while they
2226s aren't going to be like super crazy
2228s perfect they're definitely going to be a
2231s jump ahead of where that gold level you
2233s have to reach is located
2235s so here I mean uh man I I I'm really
2239s happy with that time honestly I wasn't
2241s anticipating that just like the one shot
2243s but um
2245s but every single race has had this done
2248s to it let's go to another one oh oh this
2251s one's gonna be
2253s this one's going to be uh tricky I'm
2255s probably gonna crash and burn on this
2257s one so feel free to laugh when that
2258s happens

2265s also planning on doing a little bit more
2267s to the map I I believe actually I should
2269s say I believe I'm not even 100 sure I
2272s think we're gonna add the races to this
2274s information so you know where the races
2275s are located because it's kind of hard

2290s there's also a bug in my particular
2292s development build where the race doesn't
2295s populate on the minimap until you get
2298s close to it again on the on the map
2300s until you get close to it again so
2302s that's not annoying at all uh but uh it
2305s won't do that in the final like once you
2306s see a race gate it'll be there on your
2308s map so when you go to a location you can
2310s see it
2311s goodness
2314s so again number's not final
2317s but you can see when we start we have
2319s this specific instance for racing so it
2322s represents
2323s it places our ship in a specific spot
2326s for the race to begin
2330s and then we uh you know we do our racing
2332s oh gosh we do our racing thing
2335s either really well or really poorly you
2338s can use some tricks like I'm gonna oh
2340s gosh that was that was bad use some
2343s tricks like turn off your inertia
2344s dampener so like try and recharge your
2345s boosters I'm sure you're all going to
2347s get really clever with those types of
2348s things
2349s um and now I'm going to crack open a
2351s very particularly uh volatile topic
2354s and that is the use of devices in these
2356s races
2357s so uh why do I say volatile because
2362s still trying to figure out
2364s if races will allow devices or not and I
2368s know that some of you all are going to
2369s be like wait a second no you can't do
2371s that there's got there's got to be like
2373s this super unique meta that people
2375s should be able to build around for you
2377s know for racing like they need to be
2379s able to get like really specific with
2380s these details and find really clever
2382s ways to overcome the obstacles based on
2386s you know their devices because there's
2388s no other meta at all that defines that
2391s whatsoever
2393s um and to that I would say that's
2394s incorrect
2395s there are a number of ways to adjust how
2399s your ship handles
2401s adjust how your ship has speed uh
2404s whether that's through your equipment
2405s that you have through a passive that you
2407s have
2408s um even right now there's an expertise
2411s that makes one particular ship the
2412s striker uh pretty ridiculous
2416s um
2417s we're trying to figure out if that is
2419s actually important to have or not so the
2421s times that we are building out
2422s especially for bronze through gold
2426s but more sort of casual esque but we
2429s still want to challenge you all of these
2431s we are taking into consideration not
2434s using devices we don't want you guys to
2436s have to think you've got to do all these
2438s insane tricks or you know whatever
2441s um but Platinum
2444s probably gonna come into the picture
2446s Platinum probably going to be something
2448s that you're going to have to deal with
2450s so right now on this race in particular
2452s like it says 22 seconds for platinum I
2455s can guarantee that's going to change
2457s because that is not hard enough for this
2460s particular race
2461s it's not it's just it's not challenging
2463s enough and we are evaluating every
2467s single race right now
2468s um and looking to ensure again that that
2471s bro I'm really enforcing this because I
2473s want you guys to know like I really want
2476s you guys to understand like we want
2478s these races
2480s to
2482s challenge only the hardcore audience who
2486s loves these things and wants more from
2488s it while you can also share your high
2490s scores and retain your five high scores
2492s right it's a high score list for
2494s yourself you can share those with your
2496s buddies and stuff while those who are
2498s just wanting to finish the race to
2500s finish any sort of side missions or
2502s whatever that's associated with them you
2504s can do that be on your Merry Little way
2507s and we are absolutely also uh
2510s considering rewarding various tiers with
2514s something that's not associated with you
2517s know equipment
2520s so yeah so basically it's just for
2524s bragging rights it's it's just for
2527s bragging rights so if you have been a
2529s part of this segment where we're talking
2530s about racing and you're like oh my gosh
2533s no I can't do this everything's terrible
2536s um you know don't don't worry about that
2538s because we are not making races required
2543s by any stretch of the imagination
2547s and I am using Dove cheese by the last
2549s thing somebody's like wait how did he do
2550s that how did he go all the way over

2600s exact same position so you can't pull
2601s any sort of shenanigans with like

2611s imagine AI races with Weber minds and
2614s missiles oh my gosh so I'm glad you
2617s actually made that statement because one
2620s of the things we're evaluating is the
2622s fact that there's still enemy ships that
2624s can be present when you're doing a race
2625s this may or may not change
2627s um I think that we are pushing
2630s to have all the enemy ships effectively
2632s vanish when you start because when we
2635s start a race this is a new instance
2636s right so in the instance enemies more or
2640s less can't attack you okay so that's uh
2643s that's one of the changes that we would
2646s still like to implement
2647s and hopefully we can I say hopefully
2649s because I legitimately do not know if
2651s it's gonna happen or not
2655s okay that was surprisingly clean
2658s um not very fast we could definitely
2660s optimize but uh yeah
2666s so uh rewards uh yeah I mean I think I
2670s also saw somebody say like oh yeah like
2671s a decal or something yeah like a decal
2674s or something that is an idea that we
2676s have for racing so you don't necessarily
2679s have to have it especially for like 100
2681s completion
2682s um you know I suppose I suppose some
2684s people out there will be like no but I
2686s have to get all of the decals I mean if
2690s if that's what we do then you're gonna
2693s have to get good and you're gonna have
2694s to earn them um but I do think uh even
2696s with that being said
2698s um the idea is that we reserve the
2701s rewards for racing at the Gold level
2705s okay I'm gonna say that one more time
2707s for anybody who missed it especially
2709s those concerned about their skills and
2710s abilities okay we would very much like
2712s to reserve the rewards for racing to the
2716s gold level the Platinum again that's
2718s going to be like for super bragging

2722s platinums maybe you get like a a
2724s dialogue that gets added to the game or
2727s something you get you get like another
2729s little thing maybe you get uh some type

2734s special item you know who knows like

3035s doing to races is that we will eliminate
3038s the ability to use ultimates so uh that

3043s races entirely so if you're gonna try
3045s and cheese the race by trying to
3048s accomplish that it simply won't be
3050s possible because you even if you've got
3051s your charge all spooled up you're like
3053s oh man I'm gonna I'm gonna like dominate
3055s not you're gonna push that all button
3056s it's gonna be like not available during
3057s race sequence so that's all
3061s we're really trying to
3063s level the playing field
3066s for as many ships as possible
3069s I'm saying that and I know that there's
3071s still this the striker to talk about the
3074s striker is kind of like this imposing
3076s nuisance and racing we do have a couple
3079s ideas on what we could do to balance it
3081s out but then there's also part of us
3083s that's just like ah what the heck we
3085s could leave it in and you know if
3087s players are having a seriously crazy
3089s time with completing races and they want
3090s to sort of like cheese it by flying
3094s really well with the striker because you
3096s have to fly well with it as fast as it
3098s goes then you know maybe kudos to you
3101s for that so
3103s there are some thoughts around it
3105s but uh nothing guaranteed in place so
3107s that's your answer to your question as

3370s race so you don't have any sort of frame
3372s skips of trying to fly through a ring
3374s and it simply doesn't register for
3376s example because that would really suck
3378s um and uh also if we did that we could
3380s also make enemies not exist in that
3382s space for example like there's a number
3384s of conveniences that we could do by
3386s making that a completely separate
3388s instance from the actual space this is
3391s being considered
3392s um also not a guaranteed but like
3395s it kind of depends on there's so many
3398s there's so many factors revolving around
3400s racing um but I love these questions
3403s um and I hope that you understand that
3405s like I'm giving you sort of half
3407s responses here and saying a lot of May
3409s beads because this is what's active
3411s development right now for us right like
3413s we want you guys to take the mini game
3416s seriously if you commit to it and we
3418s also want it to not really matter to you

3423s it's in the game we want to do our best

3430s these key elements like the alts the
3432s devices the type of ship you're using
3434s the type of Thruster and cargo units and

3440s asset loading packages that are being
3442s produced in the game so that you can run

3446s we're evaluating

4791s so uh for example I mean I think almost
4794s a better example comes to remember space
4796s one where the Sentinel only has one
4800s primary weapon slot

4808s um so in the in the case of like a a
4811s wasp a stinger right we have two weapon
4814s slots very intentionally because being
4816s able to have this powerful uh special
4820s the expertise uh where you're firing
4823s like three weapons at the same time

4826s three hardpoints at the same time and if
4828s we are allowing this to be more on the
4830s fly with multiple weapons we're getting
4832s into some absurd territory where you
4835s know the stairs already very powerful
4837s based on your double weapon Loadout and
4841s we like that restriction because the
4843s Restriction creates a lot of opportunity
4846s with how you can then stylize your build
4849s we give you more than it actually
4851s dilutes that pool of opportunity believe

4857s everyone can basically do the same thing

5981s one-on-one it uh otherwise it does play
5983s a very strong support role with that
5984s barrage of missiles and it does track
5986s you even if you're doing like Circle
5988s strafing uh which can be very dangerous
5991s for those of you who have gotten really
5992s accustomed to that very comfortable with
5994s that as just a simple form of evasion so
5996s uh there's still gonna be uh more
5999s enemies there's still gonna be more
6001s enemy types that show up in the future
6003s um you know we're hoping also just to
6005s kind of add a little bit more so you
6006s guys are aware like we also are hoping
6009s to add more uh uh variants of enemies
6012s too so that means enemy types that are
6014s already present in the game we'd like to
6016s offer a unique Twist on those but that
6019s is in the nice to have category uh on a
6023s lot of these fronts I want to be clear
6025s on that so you guys know what to expect
6027s so more enemies are coming
6031s um you know there's also still more
6033s unknown signals and uh

6182s this first one comes from crispy muffin
6184s I love his new ship that he's been
6188s loving onto he had a slew of screenshots
6190s of it but this one's just mainly focused
6192s around the design the color palette he
6194s chose I thought it was interesting that
6196s he chose to reflect the kind of like the
6198s red gray here and the logo but then the
6200s ship has the gray yellow
6202s with that very nice white uh pop to it
6206s uh pretty neat I think that this also
6208s works incredibly well to Showcase his
6210s ship because it has very gentle use of
6213s depth of field so everything in the
6215s background has been blurred out the
6217s Stars even
6218s um it's a really easy quick way to do
6220s this whenever you want to showcase the
6222s ship that you're flying and shared in
6224s the Discord and I think that it's
6226s captured incredibly well here from
6227s crispy muffin so thanks for that shot uh
6230s gig bite what is the first additional
6232s question that we've got
6234s right we have one from Death Rex over on
6237s YouTube will the plasma flamethrower and
6240s the gel launcher return to everspace 2.
6243s oh man that would be dope wouldn't it
6250s um so we want to bring everything back
6253s from everspace one to everspace 2. we do
6257s every single thing that existed in
6258s everspace what we wanted to be in
6260s everspace too
6261s um you know that comes down to
6263s development time you know it comes down
6264s to to asset allocation and priorities
6267s and and uh you know the hiccups that
6269s occur through the development process
6272s um but you know in in a best case
6274s situation
6276s um it'll all be there uh but I do have
6278s to be realistic on this front and I have
6280s to express to uh to you know set that
6283s expectation accordingly you know it
6286s might not oh gosh it hurts it actually
6288s hurts my chest when I say that but it
6290s might not they might not so um know that
6294s it definitely something we want to do
6296s it's definitely something that we would
6298s we want to like cultivate so much more
6300s with the game but um we've got to
6304s establish the rest of the game Space the
6307s game's Story the game mechanics all of
6309s that stuff before we can start adding
6311s those really cool interesting additions
6314s on top of what we have as the the
6317s majority foundational groundwork and all
6320s of that stuff so here's hope and I also

6426s Nemesis Wings it's so cool how similar
6430s that is to the Aerospace 2 and oh man
6432s it's like probably the closest one I

6626s players be able to place some ourselves
6628s in location or will they always be fixed
6631s locations with fixed placeholders
6634s um okay so I have definitely asked this
6636s question before internally and as much
6640s as we would like to
6643s be able to just like have our own and
6646s place it wherever we want there's
6648s actually a number of complications with
6650s that I'm not saying we couldn't make it
6652s work but I am saying that that would be
6654s a huge detraction from other elements
6655s that we'd much rather prioritize so
6659s foreign
6662s unfortunately I I would love to see it
6665s but it's just it's not feasible for what
6667s we are trying to accomplish now that
6668s being said um there will be more spatial
6671s bypass locations in the future to make
6673s that sort of navigation a little bit
6674s easier and they're might be other ways
6678s to travel introduce in the future too
6679s maybe so we do want to make sure that
6682s it's convenient for you to get around
6683s and um
6685s yeah I think there's still a little bit
6688s of room for improvement on that front
6689s I'm sure some of you guys probably agree
6691s uh but we'll tighten that up to ensure
6693s uh the ability to get to where you need
6696s to go is done uh where you're not
6698s wasting a lot of time

6710s ship the light source the color balance

6716s putting those basic elements together

6727s look at those as kind of like a example

6800s least 10 times I feel like I'm on a
6802s record uh but um but sincerely like
6805s anything that can benefit the player for
6808s racing you know like there's probably
6809s going to be a little bit of a gear grind
6811s for that right because you've got some
6812s certain thrusters that might be more
6814s applicable to a certain ship class or
6816s race better than another one there might
6818s be I mean obviously the cargo units
6821s having that Speed Booster or just
6823s general speed or handling like depending
6825s on again like there's these playful
6827s factors that it's gonna depend on you
6830s know like what you're trying to
6830s accomplish in what race
6833s um and then it's also going to come down
6834s to that ship selection and the passives
6836s that are present on that ship too that
6838s can play another factor and there could
6841s even be more that come into place
6843s through the addition of other modifiers
6846s in the future
6847s um but it's not something that we are
6849s intentionally designing the itemization
6852s around like if it happens to show up and
6855s it helps with racing optimization
6856s awesome that's great for people who want
6859s to like really dive into that and get
6861s crazy times and and you know brag about
6864s it online super cool good for you but
6866s that's not the focal point we're making
6868s the game first the gameplay and all the
6871s looter shooting surrounds combat it
6874s surrounds uh secondarily the exploration
6877s components
6878s um and then way down on that list it's
6881s like racing here it's just an added
6883s little thing to do
6885s so uh

6891s views that we get from uh dark chaos
6896s um Aeons this one is just it's another
6898s one of those really solid shots I feel

6920s then it's on the side and it's pouring

6990s wow that's a super cool question so um
6993s so I wanna I wanna tell you guys this
6995s crazy story uh because like super early
6997s on in development we had these ideas
6998s about like this um almost like this
7002s structured home-based upgrade system
7005s where you're like you know installing
7007s all of these super cool things and it's
7009s like almost like there's this management
7010s aspect of what's at your home base and
7014s uh you know as we were continuing to
7016s build out whatever Space 2 was going to
7018s do and was going to look like how the
7019s game progression is to focus on
7020s itemization uh the characters that we
7022s wanted to to bring into the table all
7024s that type of stuff we realized actually
7026s that the home base Focus even though the
7028s system itself Probably sounds really
7030s cool right like that sounds awesome like
7032s you get this extra level of like
7034s coolness Factor like you get to upgrade
7036s and customize your home base
7038s the idea was clashing with these other
7041s elements of customizing and maximizing
7044s your ship
7045s and so we had a pick we had to choose
7048s one we couldn't do them both because
7050s they were competing systems and so we
7053s dropped the home base sort of like super
7056s expansive look of like doing all this
7059s crazy stuff to it now
7061s um I tell you that not for you all to
7063s cry and be like man what could have
7065s happened if we would have done other
7066s things because you know what ifs and and
7068s stuff it doesn't really get you anywhere
7071s um but this is a concept that we did
7073s certainly explore for some time and the
7076s ideation process of everspace too I
7079s don't know maybe there's something to
7081s that that could be possible
7083s um maybe like in a DLC or something I'm
7085s not sure
7087s um and I say I'm not sure not as like
7089s covering up my tracks and be like Oh I'm
7091s not supposed to say anything like
7092s legitimately uh it's just not something
7094s that we've really wanted to put any
7095s emphasis on so
7097s it just hasn't really uh been a priority

7103s asked hey can enemies attack the home
7105s base because if they could I mean you
7109s should be able to like outfit your home
7111s base with defenses right so that was
7112s that's why that entire conversation just

7279s have three integral factions that make

7285s Outlaws then we have the Coalition and
7288s we have the oh card
7290s um and through that then we have like
7292s distributed sub-factions that you know
7294s shape and change more uh there's you
7297s know there's other stuff too like the
7298s Ancients and but whatever
7300s um but like for the most part the naming
7303s conventions that we use for like the
7306s types of ships is very definitive of
7308s like their stylization so you know what
7310s you're engaging up against as uh you
7313s know as a faction itself if we were to
7316s create an entire faction that was like
7317s just tormentors for example uh that's
7319s not that's not really an intentionality
7322s we have behind the game Space
7324s um it's possible we could create more
7327s Outlaw faction like sub-factions
7330s um that maybe like utilize a variant of
7333s the Tormentor that's definitely possible
7335s that's probably not going to happen but
7336s it's possible but uh no there's there's
7338s not going to be like specifically a
7340s torment or faction
7342s to answer that Direct
7344s ly so we've got brb's another photo from
7349s everspace one again I don't know if he's
7351s like doctoring these images up or like
7353s if it's like a lesser resolution or
7355s what's happening here but I I love this
7357s grainy approach that's occurring uh it

7464s on a bombing run right and then here we
7466s got this photo from Thunder flame and I
7468s think he even called this bombing run or
7469s something like that where he's just
7471s flying by stuff and just pounding them
7474s with missiles and then finishing it off
7475s with an argument thousand he has another
7477s shot too and the Discord where there's
7479s just like a bunch of missiles Underneath
7481s Him you gotta go to the Disco or go to
7482s screenshots Channel and like check them
7484s out they're so fun they're so good
7486s um but I I chose this one because of how
7488s explosive it is and how the bombers
7490s flying away you got these beautiful
7491s colors just comes together uh nicely

7585s this dark dark reddish orangey goodness

7590s that's complementing those colors so it
7592s feels like it's a cohesive picture to
