This is not a SquareEnix hate post!

Hello all,

I have searched Reddit and the web and only seem to find answers either hating on the SquareEnix support or people responding that the OP was an idiot.

I have made a mistake I am hoping doesn't become a major one. I returned from not playing for many years. I bought the expansion on Steam with the intent to play on there, my original copy was from SquareEnix. As I soon found out, I was unable to use my original character with the new CD Key given to me by Steam. I never logged into FFXIV with the new CD or order a subscription on that new account since I noticed my old character wasn't there.

I then immediately bought a copy of SB on the SquareEnix site and subbed for the larger subscription time since I was happy to be back. I went a head and requested a refund from Steam since I was unable to use it the way I wanted and Steam showed it was OK to do.

I was playing fine for a few days until the refund from steam cleared. SquareEnix then banned "both" accounts. The one I used with the Steam key and the one I used with SquareEnix directly.

I was unaware of the Steam Refund bans prior to making my silly mistake. I am now working with SquareEnix and was informed it has been escalated. I am now going on my 2nd week without a response or update outside of "we have no ETA".

I know I caused this myself, but I was wondering if anyone ran into a similar issue recently and has worked with SE on getting it resolved. They have been super kind when I speak with Online chat and it appears I should be OK to get my account back. I am mainly just trying to see if anyone a "potential" time frame by dealing with a similar issue.

All my online searches have resulted in just SE bashing and OP bashing. Sorry for the wall of text.

I am just sadly typing while watching folks on Twitch play.
