| 135s | I've got a few things to tell you guys, but this gameplay is going to be a hundred- |
| 139s | I started making YouTube videos when I was about sixteen years old. |
| 145s | YouTube was such a new place. |

| 148s | I didn't tell anyone what I was doing |
| 150s | apart from a few very close friends. |
| 153s | You feel different when you've got that microphone |
| 155s | in front of you and you've got that camera in front of you. |
| 157s | There was a lot of experimenting at the beginning for me to find my voice. |

| 168s | He was very disciplined because he used to do his homework first, but I'd go and say "Tea's ready," |

| 185s | little village called Pyrford in Surrey, England. |

| 202s | twelve, early teens and we could see it becoming a bit of an obsession |

| 214s | it was just to share the best gaming highlights with my friends. |

| 224s | "Oh I'll share a few of my best gaming moments" to having a few thousand subscribers. |

| 234s | It almost put me into another gear that I had this opportunity. |
| 237s | Welcome back, everyone. This is going to be game two. |
| 240s | It was not just a passion project any more it could actually be a job. |
| 243s | I was just so caught up in the day to day of what video am I making? |
| 247s | How can I make it better? |
| 248s | What am I going to do next? Oh, my gosh, kids. |

| 252s | Running out of the house with the shirt and shoes on for school, |
| 255s | coming home, working till three in the morning |
| 257s | because he was at that time doing three videos for each time zone of the world. |
| 261s | We then realized he was on to something. |

| 264s | it was about a thousand subscribers the following year, 100,000. |
| 267s | So it got quite big. |
| 269s | People started to recognize him in public. |
| 272s | Kids in school used to say, You're Ali-A's dad. |
| 275s | I realize this was quite serious. |
| 279s | In school, my favorite subject was maths. |
| 282s | So I was just driven by the numbers and I'd write down how many subscribers I had, |
| 287s | and I'd do it each day. And I wanted them to grow |
| 290s | and I wanted to achieve new targets, new goals. |
| 293s | What is your next milestone for subs? |
| 296s | I never thought I'd get a million, so like |
| 300s | two and a half is a quarter of a million, which just is crazy. |
| 303s | I think two and a half million. |

| 310s | At 18 years old, |
| 311s | I decided I wanted to do YouTube full time. |
| 315s | So, I gave myself this year period |
| 318s | where if I could make it, great, let's keep on chasing this dream. |
| 322s | And if not, I could go to University- Oh oh, that can pay off. |
| 325s | Sometimes it can be good, sometimes it can not be so good. |
| 328s | At that time, I didn't leave my bedroom very much. |
| 331s | I mean, trying to make as much videos for you guys. |
| 333s | I want to say a big thank you for all the support. |
| 335s | I didn't have anyone to hang out with, so I was fully invested in just playing |
| 338s | games all day, recording videos, going to bed really, really late, |
| 342s | and just doing that every day. |
| 344s | The average day for me is, granted a little bit boring. |
| 347s | I'm doing a lot of editing, a lot of recording. |
| 350s | I would upload twelve, thirteen, fourteen videos in a day. |
| 355s | It was, it was crazy. |
| 360s | I'd never let my brain rest. |
| 364s | In the moment, |
| 365s | I was so caught up in it. |
| 367s | All I was thinking about was |
| 369s | what video I'm making, what could happen next, is there another big idea? |
| 372s | What was working, what was not working? |
| 374s | How quickly and how well can I complete this mission? |
| 377s | What's the point? What's the biggest impact I can have? |
| 380s | What's the most exciting thing I can do there? |
| 382s | Any news that I could cover? |
| 383s | Challenge? What can I get better at in this game? |

| 400s | People would always say to me, You're going to burn out. |

| 405s | And I didn't believe them. |

| 412s | It was absolutely crazy. Thank you very much for that. |
| 424s | When I first met Ali, |
| 426s | he was living with his parents. |
| 430s | It was a very small room. |
| 432s | It was essentially just a desk, a single bed |
| 436s | and then a sink, which I always found quite surprising. |
| 440s | You can see everything in my room because of this camera. |
| 442s | You can see my lovely sink. |
| 444s | He was incredibly busy with his work. |
| 446s | I mean, the hours he used to do then, |
| 447s | he'd get up in the afternoon and then work until the early hours |
| 451s | of the night every single night, maybe four or five AM. |
| 454s | But we ended up still spending a lot of time together. |
| 459s | From a very early stage of meeting him, |
| 462s | I just knew that I'd met my person. |
| 466s | We just got along so well. |
| 468s | Every time we'd hang out, it was like. |
| 472s | I wouldn't want to say goodbye. |
| 473s | I wouldn't want her to go away. |
| 475s | My whole life changed. |
| 478s | I got to twenty-one years old. |
| 481s | Me and Clare had started dating for a little bit |
| 484s | and I needed to move out of my parents house. |
| 488s | You probably thought I was going to move in quite quickly. |

| 574s | He would be constantly thinking about it. |

| 580s | and he started worrying so much about slipping behind. |
| 584s | I would just feel so stressed for him. |

| 594s | I just felt really burnt out. |

| 598s | Maybe I should just throw in the towel and call it quits. |

| 656s | Fortnite came out. I'd never played a Battle Royale, |
| 659s | I knew very little about Fortnite. |
| 662s | This is where all the fun starts off on a freaking hot air balloon bus. |

| 669s | So I've just built a little bit up here. |
| 672s | After feeling super down and everything, being in such a bad spot |

| 825s | I'd ever experienced people, like, disliking me, like, really disliking me. |

| 834s | Initially, we were kind of like it was funny. |
| 838s | And then it started to get intense and, you know, |
| 840s | memes, you can't control how they're used. But |

| 858s | For me, the best way of dealing with it was |
| 861s | I can laugh at it and I don't take it too |

| 878s | And for me, it's always been a case of focusing on |

| 902s | I've been playing Fortnite since the beginning, for over four and a half |
| 907s | years now, and I can't believe that I'm actually saying I am |

| 921s | and put my heart and soul into it. |
