870s hearthstone lobby legends noble garden
873s we're on day two now and we are gonna
875s end the day by crowning a champion for
877s the second lobby legends tournament it's
880s gonna be absolutely fantastic and i'm
881s raven and joining me of course is subtle
883s to bring you all the action so we had a
885s quite crazy day yesterday with
887s effectively the introduction of naga to
890s competitive play and uh we saw it a
892s couple of times i think it's fair to say
894s right now
895s yeah one or two there were a few games
898s quite heavily defined by naga i think
900s it's fair to say
902s um certainly i think took us all the way
904s until the very last game of the day game
907s three and lobby b
909s to really see kind of any effective
912s counter strategy and even then it's like
914s a counter strategy that allows you to
916s survive till top two top three most of
918s the time right otherwise yeah it has
920s been very much defined so far by naga
923s and then kind of poison counters to that
925s as well because
927s with how much power and scaling and
929s divine shield availability that naga
931s have available to them it is very
932s difficult to compete with that staff for
934s stat on the other side
936s yeah and yesterday just give you a quick
937s briefing of what happened uh we did have
940s two separate lobbies of eight players
942s each play out three games within each
945s group and then the top four from each
946s group have progressed to today but
948s subtle today's a little bit different as
950s a format we're not just playing three
952s games and then calling it a day with the
954s highest points total and what are we
956s doing to find our champion
959s we are playing check format raven uh
962s which we saw the debut of uh last time
965s with gia and slicer and with be nice in
968s battlegrounds lobby legends one where uh
971s so essentially the format means that
972s players play for the same number of
974s points as usual as we've been seeing um
977s but once their cumulative point total
979s hits 20 they are then able to win the
982s lobby but they must win an actual game
986s of battlegrounds finish in first place
989s after they have reached 20 points to
991s become the champion of the tournament
992s which i think is going to be a pretty
995s interesting way to round things off we
997s saw it happen in very very rapid fashion
1000s last time around with be nice taking it
1002s down in i believe five total games last
1005s time around which is a very very quick
1007s outcome we would expect on average uh to
1009s see more games than that today and i
1011s would hope to see a few more games than
1012s that as well today so we can really uh
1015s sink our teeth into this top eight that
1017s we have
1018s yeah although the overall format has
1020s changed a little bit for today uh to get
1022s our champion the points totals do not
1025s right it's still the same amount of
1027s points it's just the key thing is
1029s getting to 20 as quick as possible to
1032s unlock that potential win for each
1034s player as it happens so uh of course uh
1037s i think for the first three you know
1039s games or so players will be looking at
1042s just trying to just
1044s do obviously do as well as possible go
1045s for those first places but we will see
1047s very quickly like the different levels
1050s of break points to just get 20 or above
1052s right and maybe see players trying to
1054s just towards like game three maybe like
1056s what number do they need to hit 20 as a
1059s minimum so then after that the whole
1062s game is unlocked for them going forward
1064s checking out the prize pool of course
1066s first place up there ten thousand
1068s dollars and i think as i mentioned
1070s yesterday
1071s my expectation is we will as lobby
1074s legends continue see a lot of repeat
1076s players here in these tournaments so
1078s that number will start to stack up once
1080s these players can just you know come
1082s back again and again and uh compete for
1084s this amount of money
1086s yeah for sure um a huge amount of money
1089s put into the
1091s uh
1092s the
1093s season as a whole over the entire year
1095s the series of backgrounds events in
1097s general was going to be a big deal for a
1099s lot of these players and battlegrounds
1101s players were clamoring to you know being
1104s included in the hearthstone esports
1105s ecosystem for quite some time and now
1107s they absolutely are i think the first
1110s event was a big success i think the
1112s second one is now proving to be so as
1114s well um so long may it continue looking
1116s forward to a lot more of competitive
1118s battlegrounds to come and a lot more
1119s opportunities for many of these players
1122s and many others and even you at home we
1124s have just had a very recent mmr ladder
1127s reset so you know now's as good a time
1129s as any to start climbing up that
1131s leaderboard and getting yourself into a
1132s top 16 position to potentially qualify
1134s for one of these lobby legends events in
1136s the future
1137s yeah and i did mention we saw a lot of
1139s naga doing well as you can see on screen
1142s now this is a recap from yesterday
1145s and i will say out of this lobby itself
1148s and i think uh alucard impressed me a
1150s lot but also a ganesha who's a player i
1153s honestly do not know a lot about going
1155s into this tournament i thought he played
1157s very very well indeed knew exactly what
1160s he needed to do and achieved the goal
1162s and actually made it there so very
1164s impressive overall but as you can see a
1166s lot of discussion that we had yesterday
1168s was how uh efficiently can these players
1171s get to talented six or at least triple
1174s into a6 to potentially unlock that ather
1177s as the key priority goal and if that
1180s doesn't happen what's the recovery plan
1183s you know can they survive long enough to
1185s actually still catch up because one
1187s thing that's scary with the majority of
1188s the lobby going for the same tier 6
1190s minion well there's only so many in a
1193s lobby or in a game of battlegrounds
1195s right so you need to get hold of them
1197s very very quickly indeed and if not
1200s you've got to hope to just survive long
1201s enough to just gain a point here gain a
1203s point there
1204s yeah we saw this in various stages
1206s throughout the body meta as well like it
1209s was not uncommon for example for a
1212s flergle to get to tavern six and then
1214s use their body expecting to be able to
1216s roll six drops into amalgadon's
1219s guaranteed and then have nothing happen
1221s when they're actually able to do that
1222s because every amalgadon has already been
1224s taken out of the game by the point they
1226s get to do it that's very similar to the
1229s situation we have if it happens arguably
1232s even quicker with the amount of
1234s um
1236s power levelers to six that we have and
1238s the amount of extra discovery options
1240s that you have to find these extra this
1242s is you can deplete the pool very rapidly
1245s so if you are the player behind it's not
1247s certainly certainly not rare to be in
1249s the position where you get like the
1251s orgazoa early and then if you miss on a
1253s thesis from a turn or two from there
1256s you're suddenly three or four turns
1257s later being like why i missed like nine
1260s times looking for a thister and i've
1262s rolled like 30 gold on tavern six and i
1265s haven't found one like where are they
1266s all and then suddenly you know you get
1269s into top three top two and then finally
1271s find the player who just has six
1273s officers on their board already and oh
1275s okay yeah this makes sense it is a
1277s limited pool um and it's weird because
1279s the meta is so warped
1281s that we've been seeing things that are
1283s honestly like kind of scrub bait usually
1286s which you know you sometimes get like
1288s newer players asking like oh is it right
1290s to just like buy the good minions so
1292s other people can't have them even if
1294s it's not useful for me and normally the
1296s answer to that is no but i've even seen
1298s games recently where like dog was
1299s playing murlocs and won a lobby by
1301s playing murlocs but had like every
1304s officer in the game in his hand also at
1307s the end just so no one else could have
1309s them which is hilarious but that is kind
1312s of where we're at with the game but this
1313s is where we're at with the tournament a
1315s fantastic looking top eight overall
1317s that's the top four players from lobby a
1319s top four players from lobby b yesterday
1321s coming in to make a fantastic looking
1323s top eight overall for today raven yeah
1326s some really big highlight players here
1327s and honestly all of them impressed
1328s yesterday all dragon was definitely a
1331s standout for how he piloted and how he
1333s played the tournament game not only the
1335s actual game of battlegrounds itself and
1338s also we have max 7k who is a returning
1341s player from the previous lobby legends
1343s tournament hitting top eight now like
1345s already as i you know mentioned the
1347s start of the show yesterday we're
1348s starting to see these repeat players and
1351s i think that will definitely continue
1353s going forward so a lot of exciting stuff
1355s to come up especially because i think
1357s you know as you mentioned before we
1359s don't necessarily know how many games
1361s we're gonna actually be playing or
1362s talking about today and there is that
1365s base minimum of course where well at
1367s least one player does have to get to 20
1369s points first
1370s but beyond that beyond like the be nice
1373s record i guess uh it could go on for a
1376s lot longer right there can be many more
1378s games where the players are battling for
1380s that and something i did speak to um
1382s before we went live today was
1384s in this specific meta once you have
1387s unlocked and put the lobby in check at
1389s that 20 points it does feel like your
1392s goal is very straightforward indeed one
1395s can you get a powerful hero like i think
1397s for me one of the members of the thieves
1399s guild would be the hero i would want to
1401s see when i'm going for that win right
1403s like any of the characters that can just
1405s steal minions from opponents warbands or
1407s anything like that is priority for me i
1410s think those are the characters i've seen
1411s have the most success overall and then
1414s you look at you know some of the usual
1415s top tier characters such as galakrond
1417s and then you know arguably ashara we can
1419s talk more about ashara's ups and downs
1422s today as we go but already so wow just
1424s like that i wanted to talk a little bit
1425s more but uh the players care not for my
1428s desires and we're gonna go straight into
1429s game number one alucard already locked
1432s in the scabs i see an omu there a vulgin
1435s and ashara like
1438s we've got some top tier heroes in here
1440s top tier heroes top tier heroes in here
1442s already
1444s in
1445s deed yes uh
1448s lots of game-winning potential that
1451s we're seeing already uh rat king thrown
1453s in there as well which um weirdly is a
1456s hero that i have seen popping up in high
1459s mmr lobbies uh there's a few players who
1462s have racking as a potential uh pocket
1464s pick overall which i do find a little
1466s bit strange but perhaps i am missing
1469s something there but outside of that yeah
1471s the usual suspects omu scabs queen
1474s ashara vol'jin these are all absolutely
1477s great picks and then a few more say
1479s feast or famine heroes with the gallywix
1482s for sao king and the reno for all dragon
1485s definitely game-winning potential but
1486s also more top eight potential i would
1488s say than the others that i mentioned
1489s previously
1491s um so interesting to see where things
1493s are gonna kick off here and we are gonna
1495s start with that rat king getting off to
1497s a reasonable start and then jump right
1499s over to uh larinda's favorite thing
1502s which is zixo being dealt damage and
1504s caused generally
1506s yeah i mean sixo did depict the one two
1508s right going into this so he knows what
1509s sophia will want to look at uh levelling
1512s in the very near future as omu it's one
1513s thing you can do or the main thing you
1515s should do right which is just
1517s pressure in the the leveling right just
1519s pre keep pressing that tap and tear up
1522s until you can get into tier six the
1524s trick though is making sure you can do
1526s that without taking 1 million damage
1529s super early but all of this value
1531s he's getting his um we'll help him do
1534s the leveling side but will it help him
1536s fend off some damage i'm not sure but we
1538s are going to find out yeah i like the
1540s greed uh possibly means a little bit of
1542s extra damage he would have checked the
1544s scabs on the other side and seen what's
1546s going on which i can now do as well
1548s uh which would have seen that the scabs
1550s have stayed on one uh and was
1552s registering i imagine as originally the
1555s ellie so he felt that he was going to
1557s lose this fight anyway by not using the
1559s blood gems picking up this elemental uh
1561s cats just randomly having a fight in the
1564s background as we go away go back i want
1566s to say no forget the winner of this
1567s fight i want to see the winner of the
1569s cat fight lorena come on you know come
1571s on
1573s we're here now seriously no we're not
1575s [Laughter]
1578s um unbelievable honestly
1582s i saw one bottom left oh it's the okay
1585s quake again all right resolved that's
1588s fine
1589s happy now well 60 is doing the quick
1593s leveling as expected but you know what
1594s surprises him in the most asl is look
1596s how many players have sat on one so far
1600s the top four are on still to having tier
1602s one like that is not something you see
1604s super often at least in the lobbies i
1606s play out we see sal king here on the
1607s gallywix with yeah staying on one but
1610s getting a ton of value the two put bots
1613s i think were his first two minions uh on
1616s board and now he's got the uh the tavern
1618s reduction with those two twos as well so
1621s um yeah not necessarily
1623s strictly strong but the plan is clearly
1626s there for salking yeah so my cab session
1629s aside i am actually quite happy that we
1631s dipped back into xo there because that
1633s was a super interesting line with this
1634s elemental using this elemental double
1636s cell plus the omu ability to level and
1638s buy a two drop in the same turn
1640s um but the tavern one factor here is
1643s really interesting as well because i
1645s think this lobby makeup does lead itself
1647s to tavern one a little bit to warrior
1649s curve a little a little bit i'm not by
1651s any means a huge fan of warrior curve
1654s outside of the buddy meta now i think
1657s um
1658s buddy meta suited warrior very nicely
1661s because you got a lot of damage in play
1662s early and you won fights and you could
1664s scale with chroma wings and all that
1665s kind of stuff early on
1667s however warrior curve was almost
1670s invented as a reno solution pre-buddy
1673s right because reno wants to do two
1675s things defend health early and then
1678s triple into big drops that they can use
1681s the hero power on that's the things that
1683s warrior curve does effectively so you're
1685s seeing exactly that from all dragon you
1687s limit the pull you stay on one you're
1689s only looking at a handful of different
1691s minions possible to roll you're very
1693s likely to hit a triple you use those
1695s early tempo minions to win fights and
1697s defend your health and then you level
1698s level level into whatever the point you
1700s want is and then go for the golden right
1701s that worked out so beautifully for reno
1704s almost why the curve existed in the
1706s first place
1707s outside of that
1708s the other heroes like gallywix and so on
1710s staying on tavern one you can argue that
1713s makes sense in this lobby as well
1714s because with both ellie's and pirates in
1717s economy heroes can make up that economy
1720s by staying on tavern one right and
1722s picking up tavern discounts with the
1723s swabbies and this elementals as well
1726s gallywix in particular can make that
1728s gold back so so quickly uh so
1730s interesting as you said to point out
1732s that so many people were staying down on
1734s tavern one but now this is the turn
1736s right you'll see the entire lobby sync
1738s up on uh tavern three as almost every
1742s curve in the game meets up on tavern
1745s three this turn
1746s and we're seeing uh max
1749s start to build up the board a little bit
1751s with ashara cards don't you make me a
1754s liar a la card press that button
1756s i know i'm scared so i can do what i
1758s want
1759s use my opponent's minions why do i need
1761s to tap into it
1763s whoa
1764s speaking of which i said gallywix would
1766s be able to pick up that economy and
1768s absolutely sour kings done that both
1771s sauking and zixo have gone to four
1775s on seven gold so there is actually a
1777s much larger amount of desync than i
1779s would have expected alucard does now
1780s join the party on tavern three as well
1783s but zixo and sauerking
1785s i mean look at the lobby makeup it tells
1787s the story right two characters two
1790s players on tavern four right now and
1792s they are the players who have sacrificed
1794s the most health to get there in the
1795s first place currently standing at the
1797s bottom one thing i will say though
1798s especially as we see now south king's
1800s board and sharp he has a triple option
1803s he's going into eight next turn so he
1805s can easily just level next turn and then
1808s take the damage again uh depending on
1810s how much now i guess and then
1812s potentially go for that early triple
1814s bear in mind as well he is gallywix
1816s there's a very good chance he sold
1817s minions this year and that who leveled
1819s to four in the first place so he might
1822s just be who probably in fact is able to
1824s just straight up take the six drop next
1825s term from this position that is true i'm
1827s not sure how much he sold or didn't sell
1829s here hopefully we can find out very
1832s well what do we get
1834s yeah okay interesting
1839s yep cycle the gambler no absolutely no
1841s reason to ever not do that as gallywix
1844s and now it's just that question right
1846s double sell for a six right now he is
1848s he's doing it now okay yep gotta do it
1850s and the thing is
1851s that the big deal here is he's on 24 he
1854s simply cannot die and he
1857s okay and
1859s this
1860s at least at surface level is just
1863s looking at it as a raw battlegrounds
1865s board right you might think you're just
1867s going to get hit twice very hard that
1869s might well happen
1871s but we've seen something like this
1872s happen before where the board looks so
1874s weak but it has an ethissa and next turn
1876s for salking because you'll have a couple
1878s of extra gold as well right you'll have
1880s 12 gold next turn yeah so he will be
1882s able to almost certainly generate a
1885s respectable board and if any of those
1887s are spellcraft naga then he will just be
1890s big enough to fend off most of the
1892s aggression from the other players so
1894s that was a really really big payoff
1896s there but it's exactly what sarking was
1898s playing for right it's how he chose to
1900s play gallywix it's how he chose when to
1902s level he hit the triple ticking all of
1904s the boxes we have a good jump too i'm
1906s saying now and a bit more of a slower
1908s progression here and i did want to ask
1910s you about gail wink in general uh in
1912s this sort of new meta because i feel
1914s like going's gone very up and down in
1916s its history of power level um what do
1919s you think of it at the moment is there a
1921s guaranteed curve do you get the minion
1923s first and then go for the tavente
1925s reduction is it all about going straight
1927s for reduction and trying to power level
1929s now like what's the general plan that
1931s you found
1932s honestly draven for the first time in
1934s this event i'm going to have to say to
1936s you i don't really know i haven't played
1938s a single gallywix oh sorry i haven't
1940s played a single gale wing game in this
1942s new meta yeah i've got more experience
1944s than you you apparently do yeah um i've
1946s certainly seen the hero doing very well
1949s in some of my lobbies it definitely has
1950s that potential even though
1952s the
1953s leveling option on the hero power has
1955s been nerfed from what it once was it
1957s does still give a great ability to be
1959s able to pump up through the tears if you
1960s really want to there are particular
1961s curves that take advantage of that as
1963s well so i would imagine it's fairly well
1965s positioned but yeah just don't have the
1967s experience not going to make stuff up
1968s because i don't need to
1970s hi you're not using my trick um
1974s yeah i've been playing gallywix uh i'm
1976s saying gallywix now gail winger a
1978s reasonable amount and just because of
1981s this exact meta we're in i did find
1984s myself just going straight for reduction
1986s and really going aggressive and then
1988s leveling up and it felt pretty good
1990s because you almost get a free level
1992s right it's it's close enough uh so yeah
1995s it felt pretty good to get there it's
1997s just about you know not taking enough
1999s damage but i guess the old dragon have a
2002s much less uh joyful choice from history
2006s yeah and south king had i don't even
2009s know where you start here maybe it's
2011s early enough for like a base faux reaper
2013s to do enough
2015s at the moment but it's nothing he wants
2016s to golden um while or dragon is taking a
2019s month over this decision uh alucard has
2022s also tripled into double sixes with
2025s scabs um picked up as well but i would
2027s like to go back and see sal king's board
2030s at this point because i think this is an
2031s extremely crucial moment uh yeah okay
2034s absolutely no surprise actually slight
2037s surprise here i would have thought if my
2040s calculation was correct and he had 12
2042s gold in this position which i might have
2043s been wrong on i would have expected to
2045s just see quad buy on the on whatever
2048s shop he saw right just buy four minions
2050s to have a six million board in this
2052s position and but it appears that that
2054s has not happened and now he is leaving
2056s himself potentially vulnerable to death
2065s that is it buying the dust yep gets
2067s damaged capped but he is going to be the
2069s fat eighth player in this position but
2071s now
2072s here i would say is our game bully for
2075s this particular game because not only is
2077s that faux reaper there there is an orga
2079s zoa alongside that as well now you see
2082s and a closed scale thrown in there as
2084s well so this is looking fantastic for
2087s alucard from this point i just feel like
2090s it's cheating isn't it orga zoa and
2092s scabs hero power in in the current meta
2095s is like give me all of the naga in the
2097s game please and then some uh pretty uh
2100s scary overall of this discover not
2103s fantastic
2105s so from the gale wing opponent right now
2108s the only really big hits are lava lurker
2110s and minnie myrmidon there's nothing huge
2112s hanging out on yonsei's board right now
2115s he has just picked up a couple of arches
2117s but they would not have been eligible to
2119s be found from the scabs hero power this
2121s turn as it snapshots the previous board
2124s uh so decisions to be made here from
2126s alucard and i don't think this is as
2129s straightforward a choice as many people
2131s might think it is by the way i hate to
2134s suggest this so but i'm half staring at
2135s the jug i know so i think
2138s i don't think any of these three choices
2141s are strictly illegal in this position uh
2143s jug is fantastic tempo when you have the
2146s faux reaper on board lava lurker is lava
2149s lurker i think everyone kind of knows
2150s the generic strength of that card i was
2153s working hard yesterday to present the
2155s counter argument that it does eat a
2157s space on your board that's not being
2159s used by spellcraft and therefore not
2161s procking siren not procking ather so on
2163s so on i think it costs you stats overall
2166s over the course of the game to have a
2167s lava lurker on your board mini mermaid
2170s of course was the smallest the least
2172s immediate tempo potentially but it is a
2175s spellcraft minion that will proc
2177s spellcraft stuff when you get to that
2178s point in the game so i think they were
2180s all justifiable picks this one however
2183s murders your opponent because it
2184s arguably keeps two six drops alive at
2187s the end of the fight right which is huge
2189s because damage cap is removed which
2191s means two six drops alive means you've
2194s just killed another player this turn
2196s that is a huge role for the scabs gale
2199s wing now biting the dust as well yeah
2201s and it looks like a shower is going to
2203s go down as well here right 17 yeah that
2205s was enough and wow this escalated
2209s very quickly indeed six so actually
2212s ending up with a bit of a mixed bag of a
2214s board but one thing that ties it all
2216s together extremely aggressive with that
2219s huge uh bunker as well on there the the
2222s big enough fair brute as well just
2224s pushing enough damage through and this
2226s is
2228s i'm not going to say like the the
2229s counter because again we can talk about
2232s this in general but like the natural
2234s progression of if everyone's expected to
2237s heavy level and go for like the sixes
2239s early if you can kind of keep up but win
2242s every single turn as well in the fight
2244s with highly aggressive minions you will
2246s start bullying these players out
2248s met crawl was found there on that final
2250s roll very nice golden hog are now being
2253s hit by the by all dragon on reno very
2257s very interesting indeed golden hogger
2260s with an agum as well so this is
2262s potentially infinite money engine with
2265s stat scaling like this is almost more of
2267s a milhouse strat at this point than it
2269s is for a regular character will be
2271s interesting to see if that again sticks
2273s around now you can of course use
2275s infinite money on anything you want it
2277s doesn't just have to be on making your
2279s uh pirates individually bigger with
2281s salty looters peggies whatever else you
2282s want super interesting
2284s we have seen old dragon already show
2286s that he is not scared to do something
2288s it's got a bit different right
2290s it's gone
2294s looks like this is going to be full
2296s focus mode on the pirates
2302s keep that cleveland play for now as well
2308s oh
2309s the the faux reaper got bigger
2313s that's got wind fury as well
2315s that's got windows 35 attack full reaper
2319s okay that was actually a huge trade
2321s that's not the huge trade though that
2323s needed to find some value trades not
2325s smack just immediately into the biggest
2328s minion on the other side he takes off
2330s some damage but he had the big
2332s opportunity i think to actually win that
2334s fight and deal some damage the other way
2336s after the faux reaper winfury attacks
2339s happened on the other side i think he
2340s was in a really good spot but i imagine
2342s he did start the fight pretty heavily
2344s unfavored yeah we see a dappy as well on
2346s the rat king take uh i think
2348s approximately 10 damage as well i think
2350s all four players at the top were on

2393s replicating menace that's now been
2395s magnetized onto something i feel like i
2397s was talking about it all of yesterday

2405s so for anyone curious uh the
2408s magnetic minions in shop there's a lot
2410s of equity in just using uh buff spells
2413s spellcraft spells on them and then
2415s buying them and magnetizing them to a
2417s mech on your board because that turns
2418s the temporary spellcraft effects into
2421s permanent effects because the stats just
2423s get permanently dumped and the uh the
2425s negative the debuff of losing the
2428s spellcraft effect at the end of the turn
2430s is not applied with magnetic and this
2432s turn here for dappy was huge actually
2434s because as you can see they are double
2436s siren he has the officer
2439s he was a bit you know low statted on
2441s naga for this stage in the game to have
2442s that board but he was starting to build
2445s it up and he was against ghost this
2446s round which means he has like a three
2448s turns worth of stats to build up the
2450s naga board that might keep him in the
2452s game for a little bit longer than you
2454s know initially expected at least to have
2456s six other trying to clean up the arena
2459s player which is all dragon and it looks
2461s like he's gonna very smoothly achieve
2463s this and the
2464s complete contrast between six so and
2467s south king this game is kind of
2468s hilarious right both players did the
2470s thing of like you know omega rolling
2472s super high up the tavern tears
2474s once been punished and one has not
2477s 26.
2479s oh my god i mean alucard is very mono
2482s cleave right now don't get me wrong his
2484s board is not really doing anything apart
2486s from that uh win fury faux reaper that
2488s he had but still taking 26 when you have
2491s a divine shield win fury 30 30 cleave on
2494s your board is probably not something he
2496s was expecting too much on that turn
2499s he does have approximately one million
2500s millions in a million gold though so
2502s let's see if he can make something
2503s happen does have the
2507s golden well just got to work out
2510s ordering here in space i think it's
2512s important to just get rid of the things
2513s you know you're going to get rid of
2515s first
2516s or you gain the space and he's going to
2517s make a million naga too but the problem
2520s is he can make and generate all the naga
2522s he well maybe not the ones he wants
2524s because he wants an atheist

2562s siren procking twice but again not a lot

2571s with this golden siren i mean there's

2585s roped out there was so many more stats
2587s left to play and if he dies here that is

2592s like he very well tonight the cleave can
2595s do a ton of work still though might just
2597s bail him out and i think has with that
2600s second hit hitting the absolute money
2602s alucard hanging on by the skin of his
2604s teeth there but it was just a little bit
2607s of indecision bit of a lack of apm uh
2610s ending with some minions in hand that
2611s perhaps could have been cycled through

2615s and now we are down to three alucard
2617s hanging on you know making the turn at
2619s the last possible moment the fight's
2622s still going on between unisa and six so
2625s he looks like

2629s yeah isn't gonna quite be able to manage
2630s it not all the damage ever but again
2633s this eight now starts to stack up a
2635s little bit makes a one turn kill a
2637s little bit more doable here

2650s doing massive naga things uh one of them
2653s dappy was just eliminated he was double
2655s officer we're now seeing
2657s um alucard on scabs doing double athesia
2659s things as well um but honestly this
2663s was the first lobby i think we've seen
2666s where other players successfully managed
2669s to bully the beauty levelers out of the
2671s game before they got there we did not
2673s see it at all yesterday we saw scrappy
2676s players hanging on and outlasting people
2679s but we didn't see people beating naga
2682s players before they set up particularly
2683s whereas this time around zixo in
2685s particular has played like quillboard
2688s bully very effectively he got online
2690s very quickly but i think what he did was
2692s recognize that he wasn't hitting naga in
2695s time and just said okay fine second
2698s prize consolation prize quillboard tempo
2701s let's go for it picked up some leroys as
2703s well just to um
2705s add a little bit to his board state
2706s create those little one for ones that he
2708s needs on the early divine shield taunts
2710s if needed and has absolutely bullied
2712s several people out of this game i think
2715s two of the first three kills in the
2717s lobby's xo was directly responsible for
2719s and so really really good game from him
2721s so far yeah and i think at least from my
2724s view it's unlikely he will actually win
2726s uh the fact that at midnight he's never
2728s winning this year
2730s the fact at minimum he's secured a top
2732s three and like i said the easy way to
2734s think about this format is to start with
2737s it's a race to 20 points and then you
2740s try and win the win the game and win the
2742s tournament so just to current at least
2744s the top three when the game hasn't been
2746s particularly kind to you
2748s right he's absolutely huge and we see
2750s the smirk there from six so it's like oh
2752s yeah it looks like my stuff has ran out

2836s outperformed what you were supposed to
2837s do if you are losing to a ghost in that
2839s situation so uh for yana say i think
2841s that has to be the the takeaway right
2843s it's just well um i mean fantastic i got
2846s good i got good match up rng so far if
2849s i've lived this long and that person has
2852s died well look at this how the lobby's
2854s going to finish right there's two

2861s ridiculous and a big shock based on what

2975s there's a way you want to start that is

2980s for alucard and a great start you know

2987s again once you get that momentum going

2991s in the next uh lobby he's still probably
2994s going to be a minimum top two on the
2996s leaderboard at that point so gonna be
2998s feeling great for him and i think you
3000s know it was so dicey for him so he had

3005s i think he was on like four health or
3006s something yeah and he did and it was big
3008s enough and then from there you can see
3010s the raw power of the naga scaling
3012s especially when his friends are six oh
3015s yana say even dappy to an extent just
3018s bullied the actual other naga players
3020s out of the lobby nice and early i think
3022s they did uh many people favors in this
3024s lobby so far
3025s yeah well so dappy was the other naga
3028s player right and that was that crucial
3030s match up where um i think originally you
3033s can file it as alucard was an orgazoa
3035s player and dappy was the officer player
3037s going into that right dappy died without
3040s ever having orgazoa on his board as far
3042s as i could see whereas alucard had the
3044s value generation from the orgazoa the
3046s entire time but was relying on that wind
3048s fury cleave for a large portion of the
3050s game before hitting that officer that
3053s turn where they clashed that was the
3055s point of stress i think from alakar
3057s because again it was an incredibly
3059s difficult term but he did not get all of
3060s the possible actions he could have done
3062s completed that turn if his opponent had
3064s just been that little bit bigger on that
3066s turn and punished him for it then
3067s suddenly you're looking at dappy running
3069s away from that with that lobby
3071s uncontested right because as we saw no
3072s one else was prepared to be able to
3074s challenge those boards um evidenced by
3077s the fact that yana say the mech player
3079s lost to dappy's ghost the next fight
3081s after that
3082s so the winner of that fight always felt
3084s like they were going to win the lobby
3086s and i think just the lack of persistent
3088s value from dappy with the orgazoa was
3090s the really big difference there with
3092s alucard in the end uh
3095s being the one to build the murder board
3096s and just progressively going through
3098s everyone but once again just to
3099s reiterate big shout out to xo because i
3102s think it's very easy in that spot to say
3104s i'm omu you know i went to
3107s i went to tavern 4 on the same turn that
3109s everyone else was just getting to tavern
3110s three i got to tavern six super quickly
3113s i'm just gonna roll down naga from this
3115s point and then i'm gonna beat the naka
3116s player but i think he's recognized that
3119s in these lobbies that's happening so
3121s quickly that if he didn't hit it
3123s straight away he needs to just go tempo
3125s with the first thing he sees and the
3127s first thing he saw was quillboard that
3129s tempo worked out great he killed several
3131s players and he's now put himself in a
3133s decent position with that top four and i
3136s think most importantly was the first
3137s kill sixo had which was on sao king
3139s which was the other player who was you
3141s know very much accelerating the plan
3144s at one point right he saw him go all the
3146s way up from like what was it one to four
3148s or one to five it was kind of ridiculous
3151s so he was the other player who's trying
3152s to go maximum greed
3154s and uh you know in a fight between them
3156s between them both one of them gets
3157s punished one of them doesn't and he's
3159s rewarded so a really exciting lobby
3162s number one or game one should i say and
3165s and as you said good job for all the
3167s players there so far it's gonna be a bit
3168s of an uphill climb for some but again
3171s this isn't a just three game
3173s uh uh set and you're out and that's it
3175s there's enough time for people to come
3177s back because unless we have another be
3179s nice situation and alucard just goes
3182s win-win-win-win went done

3409s know maybe playing a slightly more
3411s aggressive like we saw from game one or
3414s do you think that was uh maybe a you
3416s know something a little bit different as
3417s a one-off yeah i called it out going
3420s into day one right the
3421s um competitive play is different and
3424s i've kind of heard various streamers
3426s talking about this leading into the
3428s event where everyone was saying oh you
3430s know it's just going to be naga over and
3431s over again um and some streamers who
3434s have played in big tournaments i heard
3436s beaufort talking about it i've heard sun
3437s glitters talking about it just saying
3439s like tournament play is different and
3442s you can't really understand how
3443s different it is until you've experienced
3445s it because players understand the game
3448s and the meta game and you know quite
3450s literally the meta game not necessarily
3452s the meta gamers in well naga are good
3453s that's the metagame but the metagame is
3455s it the the meta game is in how to win
3458s tournaments right the actual strategy of
3460s the game outside of the game in the
3462s literal sense
3464s um however coming into day one i did
3466s kind of shout out and say it's possible
3468s that people just build up the murder
3469s boards and stop people tripling into
3471s those sixes very effectively however i
3473s doubt it because we're so polarized in
3476s the direction of being naga so so much
3478s stronger than anything else i didn't
3479s think it was possible so that game where
3481s it did kind of happen a little bit was
3483s quite refreshing to see uh we'll see if
3485s it continues throughout the day
3487s certainly it becomes a factor later on
3491s with strike format when you particularly
3494s are fighting to stop particular players
3498s in particular positions right people
3499s actually get huge targets on their back
3502s in this format when they're threatening
3504s everyone else with winning the
3505s tournament so that's when the big like
3508s okay i'm gonna tempo out i'm gonna buy
3509s this i'm gonna buy a gas coiler i'm
3511s gonna buy a meccano tank like whatever
3512s it ends up being to be able to push
3514s damage to a particular person could end
3517s up being much more impactful as we get
3519s later on throughout the day yeah and as
3521s we saw in the hero select here we have
3523s got some hard hitters again galakrond uh
3526s with all dragon here as we can see now
3528s already starting off with those hero
3529s powers not too much of a surprise at all
3532s we see tess another omu another vulgin
3535s ashara of course
3537s and then we've got gerwin cookie pretty
3539s solid but then we have a janissa on
3542s honestly a hero i haven't played at all
3544s so far because i don't even think i've
3546s been offered this hero in them
3548s in my play at least over the last few
3550s days
3551s yeah lich is underwhelming in my opinion
3555s big big problem overall uh i confess i
3558s wasn't actually paying too much
3559s attention to all dragon's turn there so
3561s i'm not sure what uh he is particularly
3563s upset about seeing on the other side was
3565s it the fact that pig got him
3569s very possibly not sure
3578s eggs everywhere
3580s i was still not seeing that we did see a
3582s there was a sugar walk offered but you
3583s know the comp isn't there so also um
3587s with the no beats in here again i feel
3589s like this is a curse we've been given
3591s what was it one beast game we had
3592s yesterday
3594s yeah one as six we saw beasts yesterday
3597s which uh you would expect him to be
3598s seeing a lot more but we've also just
3600s had it be banned for the first two games
3601s so far today so it does seem like the
3603s curse continues uh jana sage is going to
3606s continue to build up coins here with the
3608s lich and as i was saying beforehand i do
3610s find this hero to be a little bit
3612s underwhelming
3613s in theory
3615s it does feel like she should fit the
3617s bill right you're looking for heroes
3619s that can go up taverns quickly uh lich
3621s just picks up a coin every single turn
3623s so that makes sense you're able to do it
3625s however the cost of health is so
3627s enormous that in my experience when you
3629s try and do it you find yourself in that
3632s sour king position from the previous
3634s game right where you're just at such low
3636s health when you're tripling into your
3637s six uh that if you get yourself in
3640s that position where you fight anyone
3641s with any kind of relative strength at
3643s that time you end up taking too much
3644s damage and dying so i haven't had too
3646s much success with litch up until this
3648s point uh be interesting to see how this
3650s one panned out yeah we even saw that
3651s from janice a little bit earlier on that
3654s he could have leveled there with the
3656s coin into six gold right but they chose
3659s to pick up the two yoho's just to be a
3661s feel a little bit safer and just sustain
3663s some of that health he's naturally gonna
3665s lose due to his hero power
3668s i'm still trying to work out that all
3670s dragon term because he had a coin in his
3671s hand right which meant that he started
3673s with the three one and then
3675s sold it to hero power instead of coining
3677s to hero power so i'm guessing that was
3679s the concern right that he didn't think
3682s that his three one was ever going to
3684s compete with a yoga minion on the other
3686s side so he ended up selling the minion
3688s instead of using the coin which he just
3689s didn't need and then and then it was a
3691s one two and then it was a one two that
3693s would have tied in anyway it's very
3694s strange interaction i'm not really sure
3696s when happening there but all very weird
3697s at the end wow

3741s terms of straight up tempo which is
3743s pretty good for a three on three minion
3745s and then it's giving an extra plus two
3746s plus two so it's kind of equivalent to
3749s i don't know like bronze warden plus the
3751s dragon buffer in terms of immediate
3753s tempo overall right bronze warden being
3755s a decent amount of stats and then the
3756s dragon buffer being a 4-4 with a 2-2
3758s buff built in so yep that is a lot of
3761s stats on that term yeah and also you add
3763s to the fact that those are minions you
3765s never necessarily need to replace for
3767s the rest of the game either oh for sure
3770s oh you know they're the minions you
3771s actually want in your late game comp
3773s which is pretty impressive and that's
3774s going to be pushing some nice damage on
3776s tess but the problem is it's tess
3779s that's the point of stress right i
3781s genuinely think that's what made the
3782s decision take so long i wasn't
3784s necessarily looking at the opponent on
3785s that turn um but he could have for
3787s example eaten one of the naga there put
3790s it in the pot instead and then just put
3793s a weaker board up against tess which
3795s again is that kind of thing i was
3796s talking about this yesterday normally
3798s like don't feed refarm don't feed tess
3801s is again kind of scrub bait and you
3803s should generally focus on your own game
3805s plan instead of one of seven of your
3807s opponents on the other side however test
3810s scabs reform etc in this meta where naga
3814s are so dominant have such game warping
3817s potential that it might still be correct
3819s to play around them in certain positions
3821s but again i think the double three drop
3823s pickup was just way too good on that
3825s turn uh let tess do their thing all
3827s dragons here we've found it galakrond
3830s has done the galactron thing
3833s yeah it's gonna be okay does have to
3835s catch up on levels to make the naga
3836s discover relevant or more relevant but
3839s they're still very very good start
3841s indeed and max definitely got the the
3843s tempo aspect down for queen ashara with
3846s double snail cavalry and reasonably
3848s buffed as well not only in that health
3850s total but in the attack values as well
3852s being at six attack is uh pretty pretty
3854s solid they're gonna make uh probably two
3856s for one uh for each minion most likely
3859s 21 total on board right now
3864s which means eight gold for nine attack
3867s next turn it's possible but difficult i
3869s would say with the uh south sea captain
3872s available obviously pirates add a little
3873s bit more attack if he's able to pick
3875s those up and there are some decently
3876s sized ones on three that he can find
3879s very possible gets it done this turn

3887s weirdly the sun bacon isn't bad because
3891s with eight gold you can only do
3893s sell one by two anyway and kind of uh
3896s the sun bacon's probably the best thing
3898s to sell in that position
3900s but yeah with uh nothing available i
3902s think consolation prize just go up those

3905s now finds himself on what 20 so he's
3908s barely lost any attack on his boards to
3911s be able to go up an entire level there
3912s this makes sense and now he has nine
3914s goals to buy three things from one
3917s tavern for shop next turn to find 10
3920s attack which i'd have to say is favored
3922s believe it off or not not the kind of
3925s thing i've ever run the odds on in a
3926s game of battlegrounds uh whether you're
3928s favored to find 10 attack on a tavern

3931s but i would imagine you are favored to
3933s do so yeah the thing is what's most
3935s important there i think uh is that max
3938s isn't taking a lot of damage right now
3940s like if he was getting pressured and not
3942s hitting the hero power and maybe
3943s struggling to level that's when you get

3947s think the fact he drew the last fight
3949s managed to level he's with that snail
3951s board he's probably going to be at least
3953s okay in the next fight as well

4232s think this is going to be a pretty close
4234s fight with the gala on the other side
4236s as well galacrum's comp is not very
4239s strong right considering you know
4241s what he got offered right
4243s he's still got the poison
4245s which did get the divine shield which is
4247s not bad at all
4249s but for this stage in the game the extra
4251s healthy and that value trade might just
4253s be good enough here for fiance to just
4255s put an end to galacrum yeah that was a
4257s game changer the divine shield poison i
4258s think was going to be enough but then
4260s the biggest minion left remaining for
4262s the awe dragon was just the worst trade
4265s available on the board but that final
4267s attack yeah taking the orchestra off the
4270s board means he just about lives to fight
4273s another day and that is huge huge news
4275s for all dragon because he now finds his
4277s way up to tavern five

4287s at dappy's comp the the comps are a mess

4305s back to day one um in an event which uh
4308s officially didn't happen and we don't
4310s like to talk about um this was what we
4313s kind of saw for the entire tournament we
4315s thought going in that this kind of
4318s milking scaling strategy that we've been
4320s seeing doing very well on ladder being
4321s the optimal water strategy
4323s was going to be dominant in the
4324s tournament and instead what people did
4326s was just bought high tempo demons early
4329s on soul jugglers and then if they were
4331s tripling into tavern four avenge minions
4333s it was meccano tank and not light spawn
4336s or nest matron which is what we were
4338s expecting to see to win the game and it
4340s just killed people and stopped them from
4342s being able to scale and stop them from
4344s being able to win the game we saw
4346s basically none of this throughout the
4348s entirety of day one but now all of a
4350s sudden zixo in that first game not doing
4352s exactly this but certainly doing a
4355s uh philosophically similar strategy and
4358s now we're seeing this uh double soul
4360s juggler double tank strat come out from
4363s daffy just saying you know what if i can
4365s kill a person or two i'll take it but i
4367s think he might just be getting a big
4369s culture shock as the stats come out on
4371s the other side but actually the numbers
4374s the raw numberage is not quite there
4377s yeah so i was going to say yeah you can
4379s say his board is overall strong but the
4382s sheer amount of damage coming out
4384s considering it's two orgasoids there and
4386s then and nothing to to back it up right
4389s so this is you know potentially either
4392s winnable or at least a draw here from
4395s dappy just because the sheer amount of
4397s points of damage going to be flying out
4398s here from all of these minions although
4401s let's see where the trades go okay
4403s that's huge three attack yeah so the
4405s problem here is that if you break that
4407s down okay ends up on a tie but the way
4409s those attacks were going obviously
4411s meccano tanks are guaranteed to hit the
4412s highest health minions and the way those
4415s break points broke down is that it was
4417s always one damage short of actually
4419s doing a relative relevant break point on
4421s what it was attacking on the turns it
4422s was going through and then even the soul
4424s jugglers started to deal three damage to
4427s four health minions towards the end as
4429s well so the random break points just
4430s didn't work out particularly well in
4432s terms of being able to win the fight but
4435s job done right like he fought the test
4438s and he's alive he can tell the story to
4440s his grants he is he continues to live in
4444s this lobby that's only allowed it
4446s because uh she knows that he'll just
4448s kill other people for her um
4452s and here though i was gonna say all
4453s dragons comp although on paper or i
4455s glance it looks strong to me actually
4457s looks relatively weak considering how
4459s far into the game he actually is he did
4461s manage to find the siren again key
4463s component so he can actually start to
4465s get some work done now with the siren
4467s and start really stacking those
4468s addresses
4470s you ever just stop and think about how
4472s dumb that is like
4473s turn 10 he's got a probable divine
4476s shield poison multiple 20 20s and
4478s probably like 24 24 of passive scaling
4481s at the end of his turn and you're just
4482s like yeah it's kind of weak for turn 10
4484s overall i'd say sounds very dumb but
4486s tell me i'm wrong
4488s yeah i mean well let's look at what else
4490s is hanging around right the tess
4493s uh now has double if it's a double
4495s orgazoa but doesn't necessarily have
4497s enough spots left on board for the
4498s spellcraft buffs just has those orgasms
4500s but it's certainly bigger
4502s elsewhere
4504s i'm not seeing too much in terms of
4508s boards with bigger futures you can look
4510s at this uh zixo board for example and
4513s just say okay that's might be better
4515s right now with the leroy and the big
4517s divine shield cleave but i do still
4519s think all dragon is in the second best
4521s position in the lobby in terms of
4522s overall future and overall win condition
4525s i do want to point out as well that at
4527s just a quick glance i can say on turn 10
4531s of this game there are a grand total of

4535s offices in the game

4558s so much gold and tess doesn't even need

4563s that's oh that's a big loss as well i
4565s saw king's gonna gain some points but
4568s salking also was eighth in the last
4570s lobby so he's got a lot of catching up
4573s to do going forward
4582s alucard's scrambling to try and find
4584s something to do
4586s counteract this test on the other side
4588s but the turn certainly less explosive
4591s than what's going to be offered

4630s gonna maximize my stats over time with
4632s everything get an officer and then win
4634s the game right but that's just not the
4636s reality it's not what's gonna happen
4637s right you need to just be max tempo at
4639s all times max tempo at all times here is
4642s exactly this doing the thing hooray we
4646s actually get to see it happen i would
4648s retract my suggestion if i realized this
4650s was going to happen this is a much more
4652s threatening and reasonable faux reaper

4656s than it was before because you know we
4658s know and i'm sure alucard would be aware
4660s that before the faux reaper got buffed
4662s then it was barely even going to scratch
4664s the minions from one side yeah so i
4666s think it was uh yeah it was a good way
4669s to make this happen to make this pho
4670s reaper a lot more relevant
4673s good hits not going to be anywhere near
4675s enough but the the way the sequencing
4677s worked out at the start with the trades
4678s going through i think was nice second
4680s cleave is now actually a big deal that's
4683s currently 15. that was not the trade he
4686s needed that big minion to be able to
4688s take out the uh 20-ish health siren on
4690s the right-hand side but without that
4692s siren going down six plus six plus three
4694s is going to be enough to take him out it
4695s was a valiant effort and unfortunately
4698s even though alucard did the thing with
4700s the divine shield scam with the magnetic
4702s minion he then died immediately so we
4704s don't then get to see the results of
4706s that the next turn where the faux reaper
4708s just has permanent divine shield so we
4710s still haven't necessarily illustrated
4712s the point that i've been trying to make
4714s all tournaments i love the stark
4715s contrast where if you put all dragon and
4717s max's health numbers next to each other
4720s it still wouldn't add up to the amount
4722s that everyone says
4725s if you put them next to each other and
4727s multiplied it by seven it still wouldn't
4731s say it's like it's not close
4745s looks like as well
4747s max might be the first one to go
4750s always unfortunate in situations like

4753s you're paired with someone who's you
4755s know also basically one shot away from

4759s and you're the one who goes into the
4760s first place person that's clearly going

4770s you know you're the one who doesn't get
4771s it so you're probably the one who's
4773s going to end up in third place but still
4775s third place with them in what again i
4777s would say is a rough game i think this
4779s is not a turn 12 comp you would really
4781s be proud of if you were max right now so
4784s yeah i think again just accepting a
4786s third second potential place
4788s in a lobby like this especially when one
4790s player is just dominating is almost like
4793s winning the lobby yourself

4797s with you on just for the sake of it like

4802s pretty miserable looking board state for
4804s that hero at this stage of the game

4808s supposed to be doing

4814s vine shield on everything compare the

4817s leroy kicking things off if he wins the
4819s 50-50 of going first there's not even a
4821s cleave available not that it would have
4822s mattered whatsoever and this means we're
4825s gonna have to find
4826s alucard no sorry or dragon on galakrond
4829s being able to find a way to solve the
4832s test problem right now
4833s and rewind right all the way back and
4836s we're like do you just not give tests
4839s these three drops because they're insane

4845s point that in almost every circumstance
4848s that point is absolute nonsense and you

4852s tess equals tess in this meta it's
4855s incredibly scary to feed her and i think
4858s siren in particular siren and athissa
4861s are the two cards in particular you
4864s should be very very wary of feeding her
4866s because those two cards are the enablers
4868s once tess has those cards or one of
4871s those two cards she can take anything
4874s else she wants from anyone else's board
4876s across the entire game it really is the
4878s backbone of the comp and i think it's
4879s also why the comp so powerful right now
4881s is that siren is a three drop so you can
4884s pick it early it's good early it's good
4887s mid it's amazing late so
4890s it's just perfect at all times of any
4891s given game uh but still uh i think again
4895s all dragon although you know whoever fed
4897s the uh the test we could talk about that

4902s there's a certain level of this is so
4904s strong that if i feed tess and tess wins
4906s fine but maybe this is strong enough so
4908s that i'm second place

4914s first i think first and foremost you are
4916s supposed to look out for yourself at all

4920s niche situations where like if you
4921s literally triple into a six early and

4925s just move on with your life and never

4933s because this is strike format there will
4935s be times when very deliberately you
4939s might actually be better off straight up

4969s important to emphasize that as soon as
4970s someone puts the lobby in check the game
4973s changes dramatically right and we will
4976s you know we will see that when it
4977s happens uh but yeah to no surprise there

4983s yonsei takes the lobby on tests and like
4985s i said a member of the thieves guild it
4986s just doesn't stop i think scabs won the

5003s not necessarily but the thieves guild is
5005s a real thing but they're not all
5007s actually canon members of the thieves

5057s from the greedy line game one with the
5060s attempt to triple into the six and then
5062s kind of dying at that point to a
5063s murderboard to very timid play in the
5066s second game where he turned down the two
5069s win condition cards to go for and eliza
5071s instead then picked up scallywag he
5073s initially turned down khadgar but now
5075s looking at his final board state and
5078s just in our data he ended with a golden
5080s khadgar on board with double scally and
5084s eliza so he did end up going into
5087s a little bit of an exodia comp
5088s eventually so i i would say overall a
5091s little bit of a confused flip-flop kind
5093s of strategy from sao king in that one
5095s certainly is going to need to start
5096s putting some points on the board but
5098s still there is time in this one like
5100s honestly it's it starts to become you
5103s know fractions of percentage when you
5104s get there but the way this format works
5106s again like even if every other player or
5109s two or three other players in the lobby
5110s have already got to 20 points um and
5114s you're on zero that's still a winnable
5116s tournament for you but yes no no way
5118s this works um there's this kind of like
5121s 14 game pan out that people have posted
5124s various spreadsheets of and where it's a
5126s zero point player then winning every
5128s single lobby from the point where
5130s everyone else gets put the lobby in
5132s check it can be done but it's fractions

5137s it truly is just by far the the main and
5140s you know key strength of the format

5145s and the points totals it's not over

5731s hero plays but here he's managing to
5734s retain health which i think is a super
5737s big buff to his chances of actually

5749s of tavern discount with the swabbies but

5758s introduced to the game because early on

5764s a power then i'm making money with my

6123s afford to buy a warrior curve triple

6127s two extra levels over what everyone else
6130s is doing on that same span selling
6132s minions as well without selling anything
6134s from your board that's ridiculous like
6137s that's so much more economy than i you
6139s know i get i say calculated i hadn't

6146s feel it didn't feel like you should be

6832s shield to something else and then
6833s there's decent odds at that point that
6834s you just roll the divine shield
6836s naturally on the poison minion at that
6837s point but he choose to go as the go with
6839s the quote safe option of just throwing
6842s the divine shield poison out there
6843s straight away
6847s okay well good hits happening here for
6849s max anyway oh that was a great hit
6855s but in the end just not good enough but
6857s it is survival which means that i but
6860s one of these two players is going to
6862s pick up the ghost and i think the other
6864s one is going to murder salking in this
6866s position so i believe yeah max now with
6869s that uh ghost fight is probably going to
6872s lock himself out second in this position
6874s oh actually salking has now finally
6876s found himself a significant amount more
6878s scaling since we last dropped in really
6880s using that uh ghost fight to its fullest

6884s he might just have an opportunity here
6886s to make something happen he's going to
6888s need some additions to the board for
6890s sure but i think maybe if this throws a
6892s triple at him throws a siren at him okay
6895s that's kind of the next best thing but
6896s if that was to throw triple fist at him

6900s this position he might just be able to

6926s what if i far or whatever it ends up
6928s being it's going to be small you can
6929s start with it and say this will just
6930s peel a shield doesn't matter what size
6932s the minion is right it still does the
6934s same job so you can start with that and
6936s still get the double cycling buffs from
6938s the double siren uh i know that's
6940s something i would have done at least or
6942s at least had in the pocket if i needed
6944s it but it appears how king is uh gonna
6946s choose not to gonna potentially end on
6950s the archer
6953s yeah so the only reason to do this is
6955s that you specifically want the
6957s uh taunt spellcraft that he picked up
6960s from the other option that he took the
6962s argument of well i'm just going to take
6963s a spellcraft minion because it's a
6964s spellcraft minion it provides extra

6968s siren just provides more buffs yes by
6971s throwing it in there so the only reason
6973s to do this the only justifiable reason
6976s is that you want that extra small taunt
6978s to play around the big opening attacks
6980s from the opponent which is valid that is
6982s a really really big factor in terms of
6984s uh combat orangy i mean you can look at
6987s it very yeah you look at it very simply
6988s right if there's an you see why yeah
6991s exactly if the leroy goes in and hits
6993s something important that's a huge deal
6995s if it's just a small talk minion great

7125s spellcrafts go through in these last two
7126s seconds i love the way this has been
7129s played i love the positioning as well

7133s making in a very tiny amount of time at

7137s normally i think when you see players
7139s take too long over a decision there they
7141s then mess up things like positioning at
7144s the end right because they're too
7145s frantically trying to get everything in
7146s just based on their decision of what
7148s they're gonna buy despite it not working
7150s out here for max i really love what he
7153s did there no divine shields of his own
7155s so he went with the ghoul into leroy but
7157s his positioning went gall
7159s into huge minion of his own that can
7161s then value trade the divine shield torn
7163s that your opponent is going to have then
7165s leroy third to potentially just go into
7167s the meaty center of the naga board and
7169s be able to kill like 150 health minion
7172s so he got everything right in my opinion
7175s uh based on that final decision making
7177s in a very very tiny amount of time uh
7179s but it just wasn't good enough and it's
7181s going to be south king picking up at the
7182s least second here but then zephyrus
7184s three wishes
7186s finding him the board space tripling the
7188s officer now and now there is room
7191s another something
7192s for example yes another siren to be able
7195s to take space on this ball but that's
7196s the question does cell king want more
7199s scaling here or does he want to end his
7201s board with a tech card does he want to
7203s end it with another taunt with a
7206s another potential even a cleave to take
7208s off multiple divine shields find a leroy
7210s something like that there's lots of
7212s different ways he could go about doing
7213s this but it looks like he's just going
7215s to efficiently dump his gold into
7217s scaling here and hope that it's good

7299s means that beautiful
7302s mid-game sequence of attacks from all
7304s dragon is going to mean that he takes
7306s down this lobby but congratulations to

7314s better played game a much more fortunate
7317s game from his perspective as well some
7318s good decisions made in the mid game some
7321s nice hero power roles starting i think

7330s consolidate tempo be aggressive

7394s the game plan can start to change again
7396s right where you say well i don't need to
7398s really go for it if it's offered to me
7400s fantastic yes i'll try and win the lobby
7402s but the backup plan is definitely going
7404s to be there in all dragon's mind and
7406s specifically you've shouted out rightly
7409s saying that all dragon has been super
7410s impressive i said yesterday he was my
7412s player of the tournament on day one i've
7414s seen nothing so far that's changed my
7415s mind but specifically and contextually
7419s in this situation
7421s what was the thing that he did that
7423s impressed us the money
7425s he took bad games and he turned them
7427s into top fours which is a skill set

7431s that is super exciting when you just
7435s need four points to put the lobby in
7437s check because if he gets a good game
7439s great right top four probably secured we
7442s enter the check phase of the tournament
7444s and we move on if he gets a bad game
7447s that scrappy gas coiler um grey bowed
7451s stuff that we saw previously the death
7453s row synergies the tempo with the murlocs
7456s that we saw those kind of like creative
7458s ways to turn bad games into top fours if
7461s he's able to do that again in a bad
7463s lobby well that's just as good as
7465s getting a first in this situation with
7467s high roll nagas because he will still
7470s put the lobby in check so exactly the
7473s skills that all dragon demonstrated
7475s yesterday could now potentially come in
7477s clutch in this situation to allow him to
7479s put the lobby in check yeah he's put
7481s himself in a great position and again
7483s you know another shout out to uh
7485s sal king as well he was looking to be in
7488s a terrible spot and although he's
7490s nowhere near
7491s able to put the lobbying check for
7493s himself he's back in the fight right
7496s he's still in the mix with a lot of the
7497s other players especially depending on
7499s how the next game goes so he's still in
7501s there and uh janice really now is the
7504s player who has to uh sort of mimic soul

7537s set it up to be in a very comfortable

7543s grab a few points and then we're in
7545s check and we're good to go that's all
7547s they have to do so that each player now
7549s has very different focuses in the next
7551s game and then once players get in check
7554s we'll change the strategy all over again
7556s it's why i really like this format for
7558s there to finish off the uh the weekend

7561s yeah and just watching that recap again
7564s those wind fury attacks from that lava
7566s lurker was so grimy like taking down one
7569s huge minion with the divine shield and
7571s then valley even though it was a bump it
7574s was a hundred plus stat minion being
7577s used essentially as a bumper is what
7580s that attack was taking off a divine
7582s shield but because that was a value
7583s trade bump taking that divine shield off
7585s it made the rest of the combat rng
7587s basically irrelevant at that point
7589s because no matter where that attack went
7591s it didn't have divine shield so it would
7593s have died to the leroy that would have
7594s been fine regardless but because the
7596s divine shield was taken off it would
7598s have then died to the mantid queen
7599s because i was about to say this is an
7601s insane 50 50 coming up on the next
7604s attack but that bump from the lava
7606s lurker just absolutely changed
7607s everything gave all dragon that lobby
7609s and now has put us in that position
7611s where everything we've been saying for
7612s the last two or three minutes or so has
7614s become true
7615s or dragon in a really good position now
7618s to become the threat right in this lobby
7621s and then the tournament changes because
7624s then all dragon has a target on his back

8318s focus has to be on our dragon for this

8321s it does yeah the focus has largely been
8324s on all dragon for a good chunk of the
8325s tournament for good reason i think he's
8327s been
8328s a standout competitor but yes certainly
8331s i think the call to arms will go out
8333s that the focus will be on all dragon not
8335s just for us not just for the observer
8337s not just for the broadcast but
8340s for the other players as well because
8342s they don't have to wait until he puts
8344s the lobby in check to start targeting
8346s they can do it now if they really want

8349s oh yep that's what i was if you few
8352s viewers at home saw me look to the side
8354s weirdly as subtle's talking to us and
8356s laugh it's because i saw all dragon's
8358s hero choices uh before we saw it on
8361s screen here so yes the options of ashara
8364s or omu when you want to be able to try
8366s and get a decent finish is huge
8369s i absolutely love that decision as well
8372s i don't think that was a difficult
8373s decision but i do think it was a correct
8375s one
8376s two heroes with game-winning potential
8379s right but he doesn't need a game win he
8381s needs a top four so
8384s uh ashara yes can win lobbies but can
8387s also top eight quite regularly
8388s especially with dragons out as you see
8391s up on the top there as well dragons
8392s being the best way to get that quest
8394s online for queen ashara omu
8397s does not top eight that often you know
8399s the ability to level and actually buy
8402s vanilla strong minions earlier than most
8404s opponents actually gives you decent
8406s tempo in the mid game as well if that's
8408s what you want so in terms of picking a
8410s hero that can win the lobby can just be
8412s strong and just not have a worry in the
8414s world if you triple into the six but
8416s also having a hero with a plan b that
8419s makes omu much better than ashara in
8422s that position in my mind good choice
8423s from all dragon and also we got beasts
8426s no sure the one
8429s at least once today we we shall get this
8432s uh uh janice has gone for the daryl uh
8435s which is a
8437s we've seen to be a decent pick at
8439s getting a okay finish but yeah i say
8442s currently sitting
8443s at the bottom of the leaderboard at
8445s least for me needs much more than an
8447s okay finish but he also needs good
8449s points over multiple games anyway so i
8452s guess uh i didn't catch his overall
8454s choices but him just saying okay i'm
8456s going to pick daryl and even if i get a
8458s fourth or a fifth that's still stacking

8462s um hooktusk is my single favorite hero
8464s in the history of battlegrounds by the
8466s way it's the one that i'm going to have
8468s the most opinions on
8469s but i was very interested just in again
8472s very micro decision making at the start
8473s of the game that uh uh
8476s rolled with one gold remaining there
8478s having a hero power available and a coin
8481s in hand because without that role
8484s if this situation happened where you
8486s hear a power of minion and you hear a
8487s power it back into shell collector you
8489s then have one gold remaining because you
8491s haven't rolled and you have two coins in
8492s your hand so you could have
8493s theoretically bought a whole other
8495s minion on that turn if you hadn't have
8497s taken that role if exactly this outcome
8499s happened which i just thought was
8501s something worth thinking about

8579s talking about and their beasts the
8581s things that we haven't been seeing for
8583s the entire tournament and it is in fact
8585s beast this time looking over at south
8587s king's board there is a tabby cat hidden
8589s behind this gale wing discover
8592s so this is a great curve option i think
8595s for gale wing to go with the discover
8597s into three on three because that way you
8599s get to get three
8601s theoretically tavern three minions if
8604s bob is kind to you with the role however
8606s bob has not been kind with the role here
8608s it's gonna have to be acolyte bird

8612s uh going with the option here for south
8614s king only that solitary beast in play
8616s but it is going to be a good amount of
8618s juice for that tabby cat with the uh
8620s revenge of the bird person going off
8621s yeah also just a final quick note on uh
8624s sao king he did go for another minion
8626s discover from the gale wing choice right
8629s so he isn't going to be going for that
8630s uh tavente reduction or anything at
8633s least for the near future and jumping
8635s over to dappy though as well very
8636s aggressive very wide board again uh
8639s mayev trying to protect health whilst
8642s setting up triple setting up those
8644s timings for the leveling up and we see
8647s uh he's gonna forgo the hero power this
8649s turn

8655s over a micro mummy pair which is
8658s kind of exactly the opposite of what i
8660s was advocating for in the previous game
8663s right and we'll continue to advocate for

8669s into triples which is maiev's primary
8671s business but also micro mummy is just
8674s more tempo than selemento over the
8676s course of the game right with that extra
8678s one attack going through so a decision
8680s that i'm not necessarily on board with
8682s in that spot and look at what max has
8686s been offered here the siren whilst
8688s already sort of
8689s naturally progressed into a you know
8692s decent naga opening honestly right the
8694s sirens there the snails there for the
8696s tempo and the lava's there to start
8698s building up as well uh there's
8700s spellcrafter every single turn as well
8703s with the mini mermaden like this is
8705s looking pretty good at least as a
8708s starter it's like a starter set to
8709s really get going and we'll probably
8711s allow max i imagine to just just keep
8714s pressing the level button at this point
8717s you would think so yeah you don't
8718s necessarily even have to go to six as
8721s toki though because of that ability to
8722s just see a six
8725s i think if you can get there sure
8726s because you know
8728s one six drop option per turn isn't
8730s necessarily going to keep up with what
8732s other people can do
8734s and generally in this meta even though
8736s you know galaxy those kind of characters
8739s can get sixes without being on six you
8741s don't discover sixes from orgasoa
8744s without being on six so your long-term
8746s value of what you can get out of your um
8750s your discovers over the course of the
8752s game are heavily influenced by that
8753s ability to level to six so you do
8755s generally still want to be doing it and
8757s and basically the timing will just be
8759s based on how comfortable he feels right
8761s like that's all it really is uh it looks
8763s like uh yonsei is gonna get one kill on
8766s there to just protect himself a little
8768s bit but he's going to be starting to
8769s stack in that leveling as well because

8840s paradox swabi is not an economy unit in
8843s this regard because you're not
8844s interested in leveling and it doesn't
8846s actually give you extra daryl tempo in
8848s this position um but both beasts and
8851s elementals being in are great for the
8852s actual economy of doing derral things
8855s but then both of the payoff minions as
8857s well with demons for trickster and mechs
8860s for putt-pot are both in on tavern one
8862s as well so set for the second time i
8865s think guyanasey has identified a derral
8867s window and then leapt through that
8869s window right this is an extremely good
8872s tavern one daryl i would say and a good
8874s uh good option for yana say to have gone
8876s for him yeah and even though you know we
8878s talked about certain players bullying
8880s other players out of the game early the
8882s nature of sticking on tavern one means
8884s that a lot of you damage you know it's
8886s not like you're gonna be hitting for 10
8887s plus or anything like that but you are
8889s softening everyone up so that when they
8892s do lose to a different player
8893s potentially they will then either take
8896s the hit to die or bring them below that
8898s 15 there that's our 15 barrier that
8901s we're all looking at and meanwhile
8902s though there's
8903s all dragon chunking some damage into
8906s dappy
8907s and this looks like it is going to be
8909s the myev turn that triple is available
8912s is dabby just looking for more for more
8915s token shooters as well again it just
8918s looks like it because of the and the
8919s yeah the neck

8923s setting himself up for a win condition

8970s display of how the final day of lobby
8972s legends evolves as the games are played
8974s out and the strategies do change and
8977s yeah i think this is absolutely perfect
8979s he doesn't need to do anything too crazy
8981s he needs to just push people out of the
8984s game and when you've got the likes of
8985s you know a siren if fine but like the
8987s savannah high main specifically the tank
8990s as well on the end like those are
8992s minions if they live they hit hard right
8994s like they had a significant amount of
8996s damage they're already on tavern tier v
8998s as well so it's gonna be plus five from
9000s the hero it's huge
9002s last comment on this as well the power
9005s of siren like see a siren by a siren
9008s right zero synergy on this entire board

9013s first and foremost it's a 5-4
9015s secondly it's one of the best cards in
9017s the game for late game win conditions so

9021s have zero payoff for it on board
9023s currently i do feel like siren is the
9025s school teacher of battlegrounds isn't it
9028s you just look at it see what it does you
9029s like one why is that so cheap as in
9032s taventer for now two why the stats so
9034s good as well like why does this thing do

9040s you look at it you read it and based on
9043s your understanding of hearthstone

9199s does not scale up against uh naga that's
9201s kind of just the goal of what you're

9206s elementals have very predictable board

9641s any potential points he can get to try

10015s when he stopped doing things that show

10034s stats in the game it's so absurd it's
10036s like the ultimate like participation

10046s victory to be expected as the year the
10049s soul naga player left and the strongest
10052s player by far in that game and that's a
10055s huge victory as any victories are right
10058s now because it just it boosts you so
10060s much closer towards those 20 points
10062s right edge taking a quick glance we will
10064s get it up in a second but that puts max
10066s on i believe 18.5
10068s so he has to just not completely mess up
10072s and then he is almost certainly likely
10074s to transfer to that 20 points but this
10076s is also subtle now a different turning
10079s point in the day where multiple players
10082s can put the lobby in check in this next
10085s game of battlegrounds here so this is
10088s when the spice really starts to get
10089s crazy because it's not only about oh we
10092s look at all dragons see what he does now
10093s it's like well hang on we need to look
10095s at
10096s a b and c player at least to see if they
10098s can make it because different
10099s configurations of placements will
10102s dramatically change how many people have
10104s a chance to just win the tournament
10107s yeah it's a huge deal of course like all
10109s dragon failed in the primary condition
10111s of get top four and then put the lobby
10112s in check but he didn't get eighth so
10114s he's now closer and now that idea of
10116s well just don't get eighth doesn't just
10118s apply to max it also applies to all
10120s dragon eventually we're gonna hit the
10122s point where it's impossible because
10123s there'll be multiple players available
10126s who just have to not get eight to put
10128s the lobby in check and it's guaranteed
10129s to happen right we'll reach critical
10131s mass we are creeping toward that point

10137s the big moment max with the absolute
10140s murder board on toki
10142s putting all dragon to sleep omu looked
10145s like a very safe top four up into that
10147s point but it was just the match up rng
10150s right any other opponent on the board i
10152s think that turn and all dragon would
10155s have been in business he got the
10157s absolute bully of the lobby at that
10159s point max on toki and was taken out
10161s proceedings and that's not to say any
10163s other opponent he would have won is any
10165s other opponent and even if he lost the
10167s fight he probably wouldn't die which is
10170s again just by far the most important
10172s thing we did see again though a mixture
10175s of these strategies right we saw the
10177s approach from daryl
10178s uh from the uh yannick's pickup of daryl
10181s and i think that was very very good and
10183s he got massively rewarded for this play
10185s and and this choice in the opening there
10188s even though he was in a bit of a rougher
10190s spot going into this game and we saw
10192s some of the b strategies there from the
10194s gale wing player which was uh salking
10196s again doing a good job as well just
10198s securing some points your minimum of top
10200s four top three and to be able to just
10202s start stacking on these points so the
10204s combination of south king and janice are
10206s actually doing the job in this one game
10209s has really helped them both out
10211s massively sort of pull them back towards
10213s the middle of the pack and try and give
10215s them these bad chances at reaching those
10217s 20 points
10219s yeah really really interesting late game
10221s stay obviously we saw the one-sided um
10226s fight at the very end uh with you know
10228s daryl trickster not really doing
10230s anything but you saw
10232s how delighted diana say was when he won
10234s his fight he counted to eight he got the
10236s opponent dead and then he waited for the
10238s outcome to see if the other player at
10240s zixo in this case i believe was going to
10242s die as well and he was absolutely
10244s delighted to finish second i think had
10246s zero expectations of being able to go
10248s forward from there and now you start
10251s seeing things are getting tense because
10253s there are now
10255s five players in this lobby that can put
10258s the lobby in check in this next upcoming
10262s game with a win everyone from dappy up
10266s could get on the hill to win the entire
10269s tournament in this next game
10271s and honestly if i was alucard i would
10273s genuinely just say look can you just put

10319s difficult for this next lobby to be a

10549s multiple players singly but multiple

10554s check as uh they have the opportunity to
10555s depend on positions where they can
10557s actually hit that 20-point marker and
10560s you've got a bit of a better breakdown
10561s than me at least uh what we've scribbled
10563s on some paper here just to make sure but
10565s uh yeah it's going to be a pretty crazy

10568s yeah we so we could get a situation
10569s where for example uh if dappy zixo or
10572s uense wins the lobby then they they so
10575s when it's only 6.5 the other two players
10577s need seven seven points for a win so if
10579s any of those three players win the lobby
10581s then they enter the czech portion
10583s however because uh max and or dragon are
10586s both so close
10587s simultaneously
10589s while that happens max or dragon could
10592s just get sixth or above and then they
10594s also put the lobby into check
10595s simultaneously so we'd be going into
10598s game six with suddenly we've gone from
10600s zero players being able to win the
10602s tournament to multiple players being
10604s able to win the tournament
10605s simultaneously oh or dragon greyball now
10608s beasts are out this time though

10620s players who would need to win not just
10623s place win at the lobby and he would jump

10636s always snap pick no matter what

10640s yeah interestingly as well zixo was the
10642s other player who needed a win to be able
10644s to put the lobby in check immediately as
10646s xo is on fleurgal which i think is a
10648s hero that has almost zero chance of
10651s actually winning a lobby but a very high
10653s chance of getting top four with uh with
10655s murloc tempo um and then eventually some
10658s uh some poison scamming later on so
10660s interesting i don't know if anyone
10661s caught what xo's hero choices were
10664s specifically but i think there's quite a
10666s few options that have a better chance of
10667s purely winning the lobby this time than
10669s flogal does however
10671s you don't actually have to be solely
10674s concerned with winning the lobby right
10676s now and putting the lobby in check with
10678s zixo because it doesn't win you the
10680s tournament right and i think
10682s you can tunnel on that a little bit too
10683s much and if xo in this position seven
10686s points away from uh putting the lobby in
10688s check feels like you know winning the
10690s lobby is just straight up unlikely i'm
10692s just gonna pick the hero that gets me
10693s the most points on average out of the
10695s heroes that i've been offered like i
10696s think that's a totally fine approach to
10698s the game at this point as well yeah for
10700s me going in here now there's there's two
10702s options for these players they either do
10706s they either say what do i need to do to
10708s get the the lobby in check to get 20
10710s points
10711s and then if that is doable that's option
10713s a if not the natural fallback is okay
10717s what do i do to make it the most likely
10719s that i can put the lobby in check in the
10720s next game right which is clearly what
10723s some of these players have to do and
10725s also i am being unfair i suppose um when
10729s i say fleurgel has almost zero chance of
10731s winning the lobby what i mean is that
10733s murlocs have almost zero chance of
10734s winning the lobby what you can still do
10737s as fleurgal is use the fleurgal hero
10740s power to set up triples by buying and
10743s selling murlocs until you have triples
10745s and then just triple into a six and take
10747s naga and then transition to naga you can
10749s absolutely do that as fleurgal um which
10751s is a strategy that absolutely can win
10754s the lobby so even then i think that
10755s assessment that flogal struggles to win
10756s might be a little bit unfair as well
10758s yeah and also as we take a look at
10760s beyonce here on the vardo and the
10761s character i like a lot and one i think
10764s you don't like as much as me and maybe
10767s i'll just get lucky with the the freezes
10769s but um also i just want to point out
10771s jana say on milhouse has a very very
10774s strong opening uh if we can check in on
10777s him in just a second whenever you're
10778s ready mr lorenda but um
10781s but the opening there for for milhouse
10782s is huge again thanks to a minion called
10785s shell collector right like they're
10786s gaining those coins is pretty incredible
10789s look how strong this is this is just
10791s ultimate bully style from unisa honestly
10794s i expected more just average turn three
10796s milhouse but no i'm joking obviously
10798s this is very strong due to the shell
10800s collectors but this is just kind of the
10802s milhouse match up rng right i'm sure xo
10804s will be having a little moan to himself
10806s right now about queuing into the
10808s milhouse here taking infinity damage
10811s just based on uh facing milhouse in the
10813s early game
10814s massively punishing take seven you are
10816s down to 28 on turn three that's the
10821s problem
10822s he had already taken five yeah and then
10825s he goes straight into milhouse it's the
10826s complete opposite of what you want to
10829s happen all dragon here going for patches
10832s and you know clearly playing pirates out
10834s at least for now and again another solid
10837s pick because all dragon
10839s all dragon needs to like
10841s trip over a little bit and and he'll get
10843s enough points to to get 20 right so i
10846s think uh patches with pirates is enough
10849s to muscle some people out of the game
10851s early and then all dragons should be
10853s fine right he does not need to win he
10855s just needs to not lose basically
10861s wait what happened here oh he actually
10863s just tripled into a three i was
10865s genuinely for a second baffled as to
10867s where that discover came from i was like
10869s what discovers those cards and then
10871s realizes they're six yeah i know
10874s genuinely like my brain has just deleted
10877s the fact that triples could offer you
10879s anything but six drops at this point
10881s but yeah just tripling lava lurker into
10883s a three which you know makes sense as
10885s tests obviously you don't have the
10886s really have the option to uh freeze
10889s triples and greet them over multiple
10890s turns because you want to be
10892s cycling through each of your opponent's
10894s boards to pick up their good stuff over
10896s the course of the game so taking the
10897s early triple seems very reasonable here

10972s scaling with milhouse one of the best
10974s scaling win conditions uh for milhouse

10977s but as a personally like i'm a big fan
10979s of milhouse i play milhouse a lot
10981s having the engine of recycling wraith
10984s to me is so much more important than
10987s what your actual scaling is right

10991s regardless of whether you have peggy or
10993s not it's still very expensive to roll
10995s which means you don't get to buy and
10997s sell that many things over the course of
10998s the game so i would have taken a snap

11003s position so really interesting that

11007s standout better players in this
11008s tournament so far disagrees

11040s higher so no great surprise that he is

11056s himself this game before they catch up

11128s aren't really available until you go up
11130s an extra tavern but uh i do think
11132s overall xo is in a position of strength

11139s depending i should say on how quickly
11141s other people around him spike and what
11143s his uh match up rng is look at this
11145s tavern right he can sell by this no
11147s problem tear up and he still has an

11233s quite heavily so he might be wanting to

11243s it's not like i think it's the best card
11244s right but i do think it's a good
11246s stabilizing card it's often my little he
11249s doesn't need to stabilize in the
11251s position that he's in right now you know

11357s snail cavalry to actually you put out
11359s the damage it's a big ask of that minion
11362s honestly at this point in the game

11367s milhouse to be able to fight through
11369s this alucard is still a turn or two away
11372s from being able to get everything online
11374s uh good decision making i think at the
11375s end of the turn there for milhouse we
11377s did skip away but he had to look for a
11379s way to get the domo and the uh cyclone
11382s on board in doing so he broke up uh his
11385s pair of murlocs but i do think the other
11387s murloc was too small to really consider
11389s keeping around in that position so i
11390s think good consider decision making or
11392s dragon oh okay things are now coming
11396s together one player dead uh is dead a
11399s player who needed a win in this lobby to
11401s put the lobby in check or dragon however
11404s from here only needs two more positions
11408s he needs fifth or better to be able to
11410s put the lobby in check from here and
11412s since he gets that ghost fight he is
11414s creeping ever ever closer towards that

11484s reasons as well right all dragon picked
11486s patches and uh max was offered the uh

11504s are dead enough to live to fight another
11506s day but still a huge amount of damage
11508s that's not damage cap 15 that is a real

11634s dappy on tess needs to exactly win

11641s although he's doing a great job he's
11644s pirates not naga and sal king

11650s dragon's just still up because he needs
11652s all dragon needs fifth right he needs
11654s one more placing yes and he's got it

11661s only player putting this in check or
11664s dragon now has it as well three points

11758s potentially win this game he's survived
11760s he's stabilized he's tess the pirate
11762s players are dying so where's the equity
11765s in remaining pirates as tests he's not
11766s going to be able to steal additional
11768s rewards from other people he's going to
11770s keep these two huge pirates for as long
11772s as he can to continue to be strong and
11775s then he's going to steal naga from the
11776s other players and then try and
11778s transition into a board that actually
11779s wins the game and then puts the lobby in
11781s check this is such a good decision in
11784s the point uh the game state the
11785s tournament state that dappy's at right
11787s now yeah 6-0 gone obliterated by dappy
11791s and and yeah i completely agree and with
11793s 35 health on tess
11795s it's doable he can take a punch right
11797s probably even from the strongest player
11800s the only worry and potential issue is if
11804s this doesn't pay off and let's say daffy
11807s dies soon it makes it more slightly more
11810s difficult for him to put the lobby in
11812s check next time right like that is the
11815s downside of going for the all like
11818s loosely all in play of saying i'm going
11821s to transition and win this lobby i
11824s respect the play don't get me wrong but
11826s there is a potential way it could punish
11828s him a little bit

11839s already picked up four points to his
11841s name which means he's already at 17 is

11973s number of pirates kind of identifies you
11975s as zodia right because it means you had
11977s the rest of your board is filled with
11978s neutral minions which means khadgar and
11981s baron so by picking up a small taunt
11984s he increases his odds of the exodia
11987s getting choked which is what you saw
11989s there yes the taunt dies initially and
11991s the the scally dies alongside it but you
11994s then have a 1-1 token on your board
11996s which any of those pirates can trade
11998s into and then choke the board so there's
12000s no spawn space left for the uh khadgar's
12003s and the baron to go afterwards so there
12005s are many many better options that he
12008s would have preferred
12009s um to the 3-3 in that spot but it was
12011s still a good choice that probably gave
12013s him some extra odds in that fight
12016s yeah we do see all dragon did die of
12018s course but he'll be more than okay
12021s with the outcome of this game as he does
12022s put the lobby in check now and now it's
12025s between the three players dappy he gets

12269s seen too much of they get rewarded too

12285s that hodgepodge like yes he's tess and i
12288s think i've made my feelings on tess very
12290s clear throughout this tournament but
12292s there have been some choices made in
12295s this game so far from dappy's position

12353s we've seen so far like salking i'm sure
12356s has made improvements since the last
12357s time we uh we hopped in but it it hasn't
12360s been the absolute gigants of like two
12363s atheists or golden atheists or with a
12365s golden siren with an orgasm as well like
12368s no one has had the absolute unbeatable
12370s gigger nuts so the idea of just
12372s continuing to scale and just make your
12374s minions bigger is
12375s valid in this position
12379s a good tactical choice

12384s make sense just go for a final buy hold
12386s on to it and then get the selfless in
12388s there

12392s meanwhile salking against the ghost just
12394s looking at our tracker has full milked
12397s he has sold out of his board to make
12400s room for five total sirens there's one
12402s golden i mean i suppose four in terms of

12409s he has for as much as it's worth yeah
12411s and and even though initially it's like
12413s why would you put the sounds are so
12414s small does not matter they add a million
12417s stats to the board
12420s wins the fight against tess as well very
12422s nicely done from the anastasia this one
12424s is coming all the way down to the wire i
12426s think now these players have taken so
12429s much time to actually end up killing
12431s each other um that
12433s sao king will actually end up winning
12435s the lobby with the amount of scaling
12436s that he has takes out one khadgar which
12439s is very crucial in that position and i
12442s think this is now potentially a tie oh
12446s it's a regular eliza actually so no i
12448s think he does end up beating the ghost
12449s from here but without taking out khadgar
12452s baron like if he'd have just his one
12454s attack if it had gone into the swabbie
12456s specifically i think he loses that fight
12459s to the ghost and dies from that position
12462s which would have been outrageous
12464s obviously unlucky obviously he has
12466s massive odds from that position and you
12468s can see the greed that i was talking
12469s about on the previous term with those uh
12472s five sirens four activations of siren uh
12475s currently on his board
12476s i got it i was just gonna say he targets
12479s the three drop to try and hit a siren
12482s and now he has double golden siren
12484s exactly what you want to do
12487s and then rolls the orgasoid as well

12600s this situation has been the king of this
12602s game he has been the naga player but
12604s dappy has made some really creative
12606s choices throughout this game to try and
12608s give himself a potential to just win one
12611s fight that's all he needs he doesn't
12613s need to consistently beat salking i love
12616s that all dragons ghost has been an
12618s absolute terror to everyone everyone's
12621s like just winning versus it and it's
12623s like been like three or four turns at
12625s this point people are still struck not
12627s struggling but it's getting close
12629s personally it should be
12630s that's the thing with exodia though
12632s right if you don't plan around it it can
12634s really catch you by surprise right but
12637s if you do what many players have done in
12639s this game mouse over your opponent and
12641s go okay that's exodia and you plan for
12643s it specifically it's very exploitable
12646s right it's very easily counterable with
12648s a lot of different methods but it's
12649s because it's the ghost players recognize
12652s that they they can't afford to plan
12655s around beating the ghost anymore right
12657s they have to plan long term to be able
12659s to win the lobby instead and that's just
12661s making them all just a tiny bit
12663s vulnerable
12664s i feel like zodiac or dragon now that
12666s he's got the points required he's like i
12668s will now haunt you from the graves you
12670s don't join me at 20 points as well it's
12672s like so funny
12674s yeah well taunt going down on the mantid

12678s reef explorer is being cycled through
12681s voidlord is the best tech card of those
12684s three so i would imagine it's just being
12686s taken for maximum flexibility uh
12688s voidlord essentially a taunt minion that
12690s spawns another torn minion so if your
12692s opponent has multiple divine shields at
12694s the start of their queue you can use
12695s void lords to pop two of those divine
12698s shields at the start pretty useful tech
12699s card i don't think it makes the board
12701s here and i do think it's the most useful
12703s option to have it does make the board

12766s multiple different ways that game and
12769s actually made it work and he did exactly

12838s nothing can happen until you reach 20

12840s once you reach 20 points the first
12843s person on 20 points or more to win a
12847s game first place in a lobby will then
12850s win the whole tournament so it means all
12852s of those three players you see at the
12853s top highlighted in gold are now eligible
12856s to win the tournament from this point
12858s onward and just to give you a bit more
12859s of a background on the other players uh
12862s all but the bottom two there basically
12865s have to just do okay in the next game
12867s and then they will hit 20 points
12869s relatively easily but then you know
12871s after that it's gonna be an uphill climb
12874s as well because there's at least two
12875s more games for the bottom two players uh
12877s to be able to match and catch up to
12880s everyone else putting the lobby in check
12882s but i will say we just see uh dappy
12884s there at the start of this week happen
12887s i need to watch this again like when
12889s we're done you know because i just want
12891s to see each board stay and just see his
12893s play and just understand the plan
12896s i think there's a very good chance that
12899s if you catch the next episode of lobby
12901s legends graded you might just see that
12903s game again i've got your back don't you

12906s tune in when that gets posted because
12908s it's very funny everyone gets to see how

12935s his sixth place that's what he needed
12937s that's what he got done we saw all
12939s dragon do the same secure the few points
12941s he needed again picking up patches in
12943s the beginning making that choice from
12945s minute one of the game uh it was just
12948s great to see all the players adapt to
12950s what they specifically needed to achieve
12952s in the tournament at this point
12954s especially dappy of course needing
12957s exactly a win picking test doing
12960s different test things as well some
12961s things i did not expect but went for the
12964s got offered the test picked the test and
12966s then cashed in and got his first place a
12969s really great game and uh definitely a
12970s highlight one for me so far in their
12972s noble garden
12973s yeah and also i will eat my fair share
12976s of crow here um great performance from
12979s beyonce on the milhouse as well getting
12981s to a position where he was actually
12983s competitive with the top two boards um
12986s without ever putting a recycling wraith
12988s on his board yeah i saw which was uh you
12990s know my point of criticism early on so
12992s you know as the humble and flexible
12995s analyst that i am i will point out that
12998s uh maybe that was the correct decision
12999s picking up the peggy there early on as
13001s well
13002s yeah and it does mean again just excited
13004s to get into the next lobby with three
13006s players and i've really enjoyed that
13009s this so far feels like it's been such an
13012s opposite experience of the first lobby
13015s legends not to say i i definitely
13017s enjoyed watching be nice just laugh at
13019s everyone as it just destroyed lobby
13021s after lobby but i like that this shows
13023s the other side of the coin right where
13025s we've had players that could have got an
13027s early check on the lobby miss and now
13030s suddenly boom we've got three all at the
13032s same time which dramatically increases
13034s the chances of someone actually just
13037s winning the whole thing in the next game
13039s instead of having one player slip in and
13041s then maybe in one more slipping in the
13042s next lobby it's like boom three out of
13045s nowhere enjoy
13047s yeah and i mean i'll call it i know you
13049s like to be the the nice
13050s non-confrontational one but i i do think
13052s the way the first tournament ended was a
13054s little bit anti-climactic right with the
13056s the quick ending for
13058s i mean it was also quite funny um but i
13061s did see some you know kind of thoughts
13062s and stuff online i'm not sure about this
13064s format it did seem a bit weird the way
13065s the last day panned out like check
13068s format you know it's still a new idea
13070s people are still trying it out you can
13071s have criticisms of it if you want what i
13073s will say is if you want to judge it
13075s judge you on this event not that event
13077s because this what's happening here is
13079s much more like the average of what's
13081s expected to happen 100 that was an
13083s outlier that we saw in the first
13084s tournament and this is you know the the
13087s drama this this creates is kind of the
13089s format working as intended so i think it

13412s seen this weekend that might be wrong
13414s but either way we've not seen him a lot

13417s lich king there are some really strong
13419s things especially or mainly the whole
13422s air reborn on a leroy is extremely
13425s strong indeed so we'll see if that plays
13428s into it and just to point out as well if
13430s you're wondering the three players who
13431s have the sort of golden e um and numbers
13434s next to their name on their health
13436s totals those are the three players that
13438s if either one of those ends the game in
13441s that first place they win the tournament
13444s and it begins i have no idea if this was
13447s part of the motivation or not but
13448s alucard uh with the death wing picks up
13453s the icky imp because turn one he was
13456s fighting against an opponent who had the
13458s lobby in check he's like okay i'm gonna

13702s to navigate you both want to be as

15175s players have understood not only the
15177s best ways to try and do that but also
15179s when that doesn't happen the best ways
15181s to gain as many points as possible uh it
15184s wasn't you know the best start there for
15185s max in the in the finals today but look
15188s at that like five points five point
15190s seven points two and then the seven
15191s again that is extremely solid the whole
15194s three and a half points above
15196s second place and then as you scale down
15199s there he is like a whole extra win ahead
15202s of the majority of the players in this
15204s lobby and these are some of the best
15206s players in the world so again just a
15209s huge congratulations there to max on
15211s there on becoming the champion of lobby
15213s legends noble garden and i think he
15215s played really really well
15218s yeah i think so too i think in general
15220s um a lot of really impressive moments
15222s and again i think it was always going to
15224s be a little bit easier in this
15226s tournament um because i talked about
15228s this yesterday like i really enjoy when
15230s the game is like this because
15232s the the puzzle has less degrees of
15234s entropy right or however you want to
15236s look at it it feels like a more
15238s inherently solvable game to play
15240s perfectly when the strategy is hit naga
15244s or you can't win the lobby right but
15246s there is still a ton of skill expression
15249s in the middle of that when it comes to
15252s maximizing positioning when you're not
15253s the player that hits making sure you're
15255s first and not second when you are the
15257s person that hits but someone else hits
15259s as well like all these things are kind
15261s of
15264s all these various things that you can do
15266s but when there's
15268s fewer options on like what are legal
15270s comps to play essentially it feels more
15272s inherently solvable for the human brain
15275s so then i think it also creates a
15276s scenario where it seems like players
15278s play better right because there's less
15279s things to consider so they have they
15281s make more decisions correctly because
15283s there's fewer things distracting them
15285s into making incorrect decisions so i
15287s think because of that we've seen a
15289s tournament that for me
15291s was played to a higher standard than
15293s what i was looking at from the outside
15295s um in lobby legends one that's just kind
15297s of a personal snap decision and it is
15299s much harder to judge um play skill when
15303s you are casting than it is from when you
15305s are watching and not having to say
15306s things all the time as you well know but
15308s few people do raven um
15311s for me i think the quality of this
15313s tournament overall even though it was a
15315s linear meta or perhaps even because it
15317s was a linear meta was super super high
15320s overall and even with you know max
15322s taking it down of course we want to give
15324s max's flowers here but you know shout
15326s out to sao king who i think had a
15328s fantastic day too shout out to all
15331s dragon who i think was potentially the
15333s player of the tournament overall and
15335s then dappy in that previous game as well
15338s putting it all together like there has
15340s been some insanely cool stuff uh being
15342s put together in this tournament so i
15344s have had an absolute blast in this one
15346s for sure yeah and i think for me as well
15348s you were talking we were talking about
15350s the czech format and the big differences
15352s of how it played out in this tournament
15353s versus uh the previous lobby legends and
15356s i've just one thing i can say we can
15359s talk about how the last finish happens
15361s or doesn't happen at certain times but
15363s for me i i really enjoyed the evolution
15366s of the strategies moving through the
15368s last day right and we saw that very
15370s clearly in the players decision making
15372s whether it was hero choices and comp
15375s choices uh decisions of what to do even
15377s within certain fights and how to
15379s approach that i still just like that
15381s that all the players that are in check
15383s just got beaten up at the start of the
15385s game everyone's like get him quick and
15387s didn't quite work out that was max did
15389s end up victorious i mean
15391s just watching his way out yeah hello
15393s card on philly's just looking around
15394s like well i did my job but like what's
15397s everyone else
15400s yeah it was really great to watch
15401s overall but that does mean as we said a
15403s player that puts the lobby in check wins
15406s that means the tournament is over they
15408s are the champion so again another
