944s legends noble garden i'm raven and
947s joining me to kick this off is subtle uh
950s we've got a lot of action this weekend
952s it's going to be the second hearthstone
953s battlegrounds lobby legends tournament
955s of the year but it's gonna look a lot
958s different than the one we saw a little
959s bit earlier on uh brought to us over
962s there gia and at slicer so welcome uh
964s how's it going and uh you i imagine you
966s are very ready to start the day i'm
969s indeed i'm looking forward to it it's an
971s early start but it's fine we can brush
973s that aside because there is so much hype
975s going into this tournament you know
977s battlegrounds players have kind of been
978s flying the flag for a while they've been
980s showing from the rooftops we want to be
982s part of the competitive hearthstone
983s ecosystem well now guess what friends
986s you are absolutely part of the club
988s because you have to play a major
990s tournament on about 72 hours reaction to
994s a major patch and that is a large part
996s of what competitive hearthstone seems to
998s be about uh massive new patch coming in
1002s yes exactly massive new patch coming in
1004s not only with the new tribe the naga
1005s coming through but also some key minions
1008s leaving the game amalgadon going out
1010s regular amalgam coming back in now as a
1012s tavern three minion leroy jenkins coming
1015s in as well as a big meta shake up there
1017s is so much to unpack with this new
1020s metagame um beyond the fact that most
1022s people are going to be looking for naga
1024s throughout most of their games i'm sure
1026s because they are very very strong yeah
1029s there's going to be a lot to talk about
1030s and a lot to dig into as we go on
1032s throughout today and tomorrow uh but for
1034s now let's take a look at just what these
1036s couple of days are gonna look like if
1038s you're not familiar of course like i
1039s mentioned this is only the second lobby
1041s legends uh tournament so far and it's uh
1044s not looking like a lot right now so
1046s subtle why don't you just verbally do
1048s our job well and verbally explain what
1050s lobby legends is going to look like for
1052s today and tomorrow yeah pack it up we've
1054s actually got an empty schedule for the
1055s uh next two days or so so we can uh just
1057s end it here no just kidding
1059s here we go
1060s uh so we have had um a very long process
1064s to get to this point even it's a long
1065s qualifying period it starts with the
1067s battlegrounds ladder and then top 16
1069s players come through from that play in
1071s qualifiers to even get to this point to
1073s the broadcast tournament we are left
1075s with the very best of the best after
1077s that has boiled down uh split up into
1080s two different lobbies lobby a and lobby
1082s b each containing eight players playing
1084s games of battlegrounds with eight
1086s players in each and in the top four from
1088s each of those lobbies will go through to
1090s sunday where we'll do it all again
1093s with the uh now infamous check format
1096s after be nice uh
1098s showing how it was done in the first
1099s tournament which we'll get into a little
1101s more when it becomes more relevant
1102s moving on through the tournament yeah
1104s the only thing i will add on to that is
1105s i can imagine every player already is
1108s just thinking if i make it to sunday i
1111s hope that doesn't happen to me you know
1113s like it just like one player just runs
1115s away with the whole tournament as
1116s quickly as possible because again today
1119s we have those two eight player lobbies
1121s uh they're only playing three games each
1123s and the top cuts go through right so
1125s three games as you know i'm sure you are
1127s well aware so does not feel like a lot
1130s when these are the points values right
1132s you know eight thirds zero going all the
1133s way up to first place getting seven
1135s points uh add all them together after
1138s three games and then you've got your top
1139s finishers out of each lobby but this is
1142s it but like the pressure on just three
1145s games of battlegrounds is so high for
1148s these players because someone has to
1150s finish eight someone has to finish
1152s seventh and so on and if you finish in
1154s those what bottom like two three spots
1156s you the pressure is on to actually not
1159s only just do well and and you know i'd
1162s say like fourth upwards maybe third
1163s upwards is what i would say is doing
1165s well in the lobby uh but to potentially
1167s have to win uh to claw yourself back
1170s with any chance of actually finishing in
1171s the top cut
1173s yeah it's not a big sample individually
1175s of course the amount of games on ladder
1177s that you play to get here and then the
1178s qualifiers and then this all factored in
1180s you know you are still looking at people
1182s who've proven themselves to be
1183s consistent over a large period of time
1185s but i'm sure we've all had it right
1187s where
1187s we play three games and we get like
1190s fifth sixth eighth or something in those
1192s three games but if you zoom out and look
1193s at your last 20 games you're climbing
1195s and you're doing well overall and that
1196s was just a temporary blip right this can
1198s happen to any of us if that happens now
1201s today for any of these players in lobby
1203s legends they're cooked and they can go
1205s home and they're not going through to
1207s sunday right and that is going to be a
1209s big big problem
1210s uh for the the way things are going i
1213s would say as well like you said with
1214s that first loss if you do get it early
1216s you then have to kind of chase the win a
1218s lot more heavily by going with greedier
1220s greedy lines i wouldn't say that would
1222s necessarily have an impact on what i'm
1224s expecting to see in this tournament
1226s because i feel like chasing the win is
1228s the one thing that you can do anyway uh
1230s which we'll dig into a little bit later
1232s on when we get into more specific
1233s strategies but we can take a look at
1235s what's on the line at least in terms of
1237s dollar-y do amounts raven yeah one
1239s benefit as you said if you have a rough
1241s day and that's just the way it is it
1243s does happen all is not lost because
1245s although you wouldn't qualify through to
1247s tomorrow and there is uh
1249s effectively that minimum prize pool
1251s right so uh just for being able to
1253s qualify into uh this uh lobby legends
1256s tournament uh the players have earned
1258s something at least but that first place
1260s prize ten thousand dollars and when we
1263s talk you know we'll look at the players
1264s shortly but when you realize that's ten
1267s thousand dollars for this is a potential
1268s first place prize but we're seeing
1271s multiple repeat players from the
1273s previous lobby legends tournament and
1275s this is something i definitely expect to
1278s see going forward in battlegrounds in
1280s that as you mentioned a lot so far like
1282s the consistency and just uh effort
1284s required to top 16 ladder then make it
1288s through the qualifier itself then
1291s perform well in this you know the actual
1293s lobby legends tournament is so difficult
1296s that we are seeing these players the
1298s sort of players you see always in in
1299s contention at the top of the ladder
1301s month in month out just be saying like
1303s yeah these players probably have a good
1305s chance at seeing them in the next lobby
1307s legends tournament as well or at least
1309s in the qualifier
1311s yeah for sure um you know sample sizes
1313s being what they are i think when you
1314s expose everyone to the open field on
1316s ladder you're going to see a lot of the
1317s same players hanging around at the top
1319s as mentioned what then happens in the
1321s few games that you get to play in the
1322s qualifiers is a little bit more up in
1324s the air right in terms of the same
1326s players being in the qualifier
1327s tournament over and over again yeah
1329s absolutely and then i think you know
1330s just by you know sheer weight of odds we
1333s will see the uh a few of the same
1336s players showing up this time but having
1338s said that looking at lobby a we are
1340s looking at a few new faces here at least
1342s in terms of battleground i don't know
1343s about you raven i'm pretty hyped to be
1345s casting xo again because it has been a
1348s while uh one of the absolute best
1351s constructed players from way back in the
1353s day it felt like a weekly monthly
1356s activity for xo where he'd just rock up
1358s and win like 20 grand in a 16 player
1360s online invitational or something like
1362s that just seemed to be his day job his
1364s his meat and potatoes and now he is more
1366s of a battlegrounds gamer and taking just
1369s as quickly to this format as well
1371s alucard both are america's
1373s representatives as well of course roger
1374s being thrown in there as well which is a
1376s name that we haven't heard for for a
1378s while as well some very interesting
1380s prospects going through lobby a here
1383s yeah and then we have uh sjmr kid and
1385s sal king from china as well uh
1388s representing our region over there so
1390s we'll see how they do honestly you know
1392s names i'm not familiar with i think it's
1394s uh uh well sj is a repeat from the uh
1397s the previous tournament which is the
1398s only one on that list i believe so that
1400s is a big big deal i was gonna say with
1403s the other two it's like the uh the
1405s problem i guess we used to having
1406s constructed going back a few years now
1408s where you just we didn't get to see the
1411s chinese players compete as often so we
1413s just didn't know the players well enough
1415s obviously with the master star system we
1417s just see them finish first every time
1419s now so we know a lot of them by now and
1421s i expect that to you know start to get
1423s the ball rolling with lobby legends
1424s because already we've seen uh well a
1426s back-to-back player
1428s from china as well as just multiple
1430s chinese players coming into the
1432s tournaments we've had so far so really
1434s excited to get into this lobby but you
1435s are right uh player like six so i will
1438s be keeping my eye on because it's the
1439s type of player that really annoys me
1441s because it's just this type of player
1443s who's like uh i feel like being good at
1445s this game mode right i'll just play or
1446s i'll just crush everyone and it's just
1448s like ah i wish i could do that i'm a
1450s very jealous honestly i feel like you
1453s went far too deep into that sentence if
1455s you just said yeah zigzag the kind of
1456s person that really annoys me and then
1458s just stops there i think we would have
1459s all been fine with that but yeah i'm
1461s very much looking forward to it looking
1463s forward to seeing beaufort as well
1464s beaufort is a person whose uh stream my
1467s watch a ton i feel like i say this a lot
1469s on stream and then people will like dm
1471s me like wait you watch my stream like
1473s yeah i am the biggest lurker on the
1475s internet okay like i don't actually hang
1477s out in your chat as much as most people
1479s will do but i'm out there i'm always
1481s watching something i'm sleeping so i
1483s have to be doing it um but yeah beaufort
1486s is a player that i've really enjoyed
1487s watching a player that i've learned a
1488s lot from i think he has
1490s an excellent concise focused way of like
1493s breaking down what is a high variance
1495s game in a high variance situation i
1497s think he has a very good mindset and a
1499s very good skill set for uh for
1501s tournament battlegrounds play as well so
1502s looking forward to seeing a lot from him
1504s and while we are getting the lobby ready
1506s gain everyone good to go again with
1508s eight players you know wrangling those
1510s players and making sure everyone's you
1512s know ready to go so there's no issues
1514s going forward very important job so
1515s shout out to admins for that one and i
1518s just want to ask with the removal of
1520s buddies the addition of naga just the
1524s game changing dramatically overall uh
1527s what are you looking for is it going to
1529s be players who are just going for naga
1531s or at least in the short time we've had
1532s to prepare
1534s have you seen anyone experiment with
1537s well what comps that aren't naga do you
1539s go for because i'll say with everyone
1541s going for one uh minion type you've
1543s always got the problem of especially the
1545s higher tiers there just aren't the good
1547s minions left to get if you don't hit
1549s them first
1550s yeah so here's the thing here's my very
1552s quick inner capsule meta breakdown of
1554s what we have right now um i am a
1556s journalist of great integrity so i'm not
1557s going to lie to you now because of the
1559s best try buy a lot right now like that
1561s is clear
1562s um however
1564s solving this game to maximize mmr over a
1566s short sample is still very very
1568s difficult you have to understand when
1570s you're in control to spy can actually
1572s win the lobby with the officer or the
1574s orgazoa pickup if you're not in that
1577s position that's when the game gets
1578s interesting right forget about how
1580s mechanically complex the naga stuff can
1582s get to we'll deal with that later but
1583s there's still a lot of like skill
1585s expression thrown into that as well what
1587s do you do if you don't just triple into
1589s a six and hit the naga stuff early on i
1591s think that's a really good question
1594s i personally think you have to avoid
1596s falling into the trap of actually taking
1598s some other kind of minion type synergy
1600s and just really scaling it right like
1602s scaling quillboards scaling murlocs i
1604s think that is generally a mistake i
1606s think if you don't have quillboards the
1609s only other things that you can do are
1611s like poison scam or something that i've
1614s been seeing a lot more recently and
1615s something that i've now
1617s brought into my toolkit as well it's
1618s just big cleave scam which i think is
1621s like a super underrated way of just
1622s gaining mmr in a rough situation just
1625s making a massive faux reaper massive
1627s hydra giving it wind fury with the
1629s spellcraft particularly with mechs
1631s abusing some of the magnetic synergy
1633s that you can get with spellcraft as well
1635s and to just make really really huge
1637s minions and just try and kill a few naga
1639s players while they're at that 20 20 30
1642s 30 stage and you just have a 40 40 win
1644s fury divine shield cleave on the other
1646s side right you just try and murder a few
1648s people that way there are things that
1650s you can do
1651s however one final caveat
1655s we expected a certain meta going into
1657s hearthstone global invitational for
1659s battlegrounds as well
1660s everyone on ladder knew how you did it
1663s you tripled into fours you found milkers
1665s you set up your milk aboard that's how
1667s you played the game
1668s in hgi the competitive players that we
1671s had in that tournament said no we're not
1673s letting you do that we're buying soul
1675s juggler we're buying meccano tank we're
1677s buying everything that we possibly can
1680s to deal damage to you early so that you
1682s cannot milk and that took us all by
1684s surprise so we could be wrong again in
1687s what we're expecting to see in this
1688s tournament i don't think i am i think
1691s we're going to be seeing a lot of naga
1692s winning lobbies
1694s but still these players have had some
1695s time to cook up counter strategies so
1697s they might just be offering something
1699s that we're not necessarily expecting and
1700s also it's the the big difference right
1702s because when you're talking about uh
1704s strategy and approaches to winning
1707s winning lobbies isn't necessarily what
1710s you have to do in lobby legends right at
1712s least for day one we'll talk about day
1714s two later so again it's that thing of if
1717s you don't start uh
1719s the the ball rolling with naga
1722s you can just go high progressive and say
1724s i'll try and push people out and then
1726s just try and land the top four if if you
1729s if you're getting really unlucky and
1730s you're not getting any comps that like
1732s hard scaling and you could just go to
1734s that and sort of play aggressive take uh
1736s you know sort of hoover up i have the
1738s other good minions from different
1740s minion types and then just pressure
1742s people out it's something i've been
1743s trying really where i've just been
1745s buying the best stuff the most sort of
1747s aggressive tempo style minions for at
1749s least the first part of the game
1751s maybe even a bit longer than i should
1753s and then yeah if i can get some of the
1756s good naga a little bit later on triple
1758s into them and such i will then switch
1760s because the scaling you get can actually
1762s be ridiculous right the scaling catches
1764s up if you actually hit it early enough
1766s it's kind of kind of silly honestly yeah
1769s that is the funny part to me as to how
1770s late you can transition to full naga and
1773s it'd still be plus mmr like it's really
1776s outrageous sometimes but you know to me
1778s the idea you're saying you don't have to
1780s play for the win you can just push for
1781s fourth i think that's what big cleave
1784s and poison leroy scam does i think if
1787s you go other tribes and just start
1788s scaling quillboard or murloc or whatever
1791s that gets fifth sixth most of the time
1794s because you're still gonna lose to the
1795s poison scan players you're still gonna
1797s lose to the big cleave players you're
1798s still gonna lose to the people who've
1800s hit naga um so i find in that position
1803s it's probably still best to not get
1805s baited by going with other minion types
1807s and just stick with just you know max
1809s tempo find some poison find some leroy's
1812s go from there but looks like we do
1814s finally have a game on our hands
1818s yeah i am more than ready to go lobby a
1821s game one first game of the day
1824s can't wait to get into it and we're
1825s checking out kid on finley as well so
1828s not off to the best start against
1830s alakaro he's a character that you just
1832s want to avoid on turn one at least
1834s because you just know you're going to
1835s lose unless something truly ridiculous
1837s has happened but the armor there is
1839s going to keep him at least okay for now
1841s but overall what are you making of this
1842s uh this hero choice so far because the
1845s way i can see it nothing
1847s mega powerful except for maybe uh your
1849s niece on the vol jane
1851s yes uh interestingly we do have a little
1853s bit of extra tracker technology going
1855s into this one um they decided of course
1858s i couldn't have the easy job of only
1859s having to watch one board at a time so
1861s they've given me the ability to at least
1863s watch simulated versions of what
1864s everyone's doing at the same time
1866s i did notice that um sjmr
1869s turned down queen ashara for edwin if
1872s our tracking is correct which is a
1875s surprising pick for me for sure queen
1878s ashara very first or eighth-ish hero in
1881s my opinion however
1883s dragons being out of this lobby i think
1886s might have had a big impact queen ashar
1888s a new hero kind of has a quest to
1889s complete where you have to get 30 attack
1891s worth of minions on your board the
1894s easiest way to do that is of course with
1896s chroma wing who scales massive amounts
1898s of attack in the early game so with
1900s dragons out i think that's uh put sjmr
1903s our returning chinese player off that
1905s ashara pick and he's going with an edwin
1906s a very middle of the road hero pick
1908s overall
1912s here we see sixo on that ragnaros as
1914s well starting to
1916s pop off with the early demons and again
1918s this is it's staying on one so it's
1922s still quite low but you generally will
1923s have to do that if you
1927s i was just shouting cat it was far more
1929s important than everything you were
1930s talking about
1931s was it though i'm giving you this depth
1933s analysis anyway the benefit here is it
1935s will help just as six i'll be very
1937s strong early on and you can really farm
1939s up that hero power from ragnaros right
1941s and get that active as early as possible
1942s because he just will win the next few
1945s fights almost certainly
1947s yeah zixo also i believe turned down a
1950s shudder walk in his hero choices which
1952s to me is one of the best heroes for
1954s straight up first in the game right now
1957s however it requires beasts being in and
1959s you can see up in the top right beast's
1961s also banned so straight away you can see
1963s the impact that uh which minion types
1965s are in play has on these players and
1967s their decision making overall
1969s uh big big deal both players that we've
1971s looked at so far two of the players
1973s we've looked at so far sjmr and six so
1975s have kind of had to take probably weaker
1977s overall heroes because the minion types
1979s just did not line up very well but
1981s speaking of lining up well
1985s spellcraft spellcraft snail snail vulgin
1989s uh this is basically exactly what you
1993s want in this scenario and you can even
1994s pick up a cheeky extra couple of stats
1997s on the snail going that first snail the
2000s first time you cast a spell every turn
2001s gains two health continues to do that
2003s every term for the entire game which
2005s makes all of these minions that vol'jin
2007s has right now excellent synergy with
2009s that hero power vulgin also one of the
2012s characters that can cheat with
2013s spellcraft spellcraft's supposed to be
2015s temporary stats however if you swap
2018s those temporary stats onto another
2020s minion with the vulgin hero power you
2022s get to keep them permanently so this is
2024s basically
2026s the start this is what you are looking
2028s for in this meta game exactly that now
2031s you're strong now you level now you
2033s triple and then you see if you hit that
2035s six to win the game yeah really in a
2037s really tricky scenario as well with
2039s those snails to work out how to play
2041s that turn right because when you cast
2043s the spell the snails gain health if you
2046s cast a spell on a a minion in in the
2048s shop and then swap it well the snail
2051s will have gained health so you're
2052s swapping away more health if you target
2054s the snails so you know he's just had to
2055s do that in like what could have been
2057s seen as a weird order but with the
2059s snails specifically on board and made
2061s perfect sense but he's going to get her
2064s chomped a little bit even though his
2065s board is very very strong indeed
2072s take a look at beaufort here on the
2075s al-aqir
2079s well start but yet again i thought like
2080s i said both as a smart player he will
2082s know this but he is not murlocs at this
2085s point do not be fooled he has he has
2088s bought these things because they were
2089s either the best economy or the most
2090s tempo that he could find in the early
2092s game to try and defend his health he
2094s will be looking to uh find a triple into
2097s a six drop as many people will be doing
2099s throughout this game and you said that
2101s the best economy uh all the best tempo i
2104s think it's kind of both right now it is
2105s kind of like you got the coin from the
2107s naga and then obviously the tads can
2108s sort of uh and naturally cheaper because
2110s when you sell them you gain an
2112s additional million anyway so it's
2114s looking good in the way you would rather
2117s it not be but at least it's looking good
2119s for beaufort right you would rather have
2120s those like powerful soft scaling nagas a
2122s little bit earlier on but he's doing
2124s okay so far one thing i'm very
2126s interested in sol is just seeing already
2129s um how quickly players are going to jump
2131s to taventer five and six because i've
2133s seen especially as the the mid days
2136s we've had to test it out have gone on as
2139s each day passes you see people leveling
2142s quicker and quicker and quicker at least
2144s that's been my experience
2146s yeah i think there is a little bit of a
2149s bell curve um where i guess at lower
2152s ranks
2153s people will make the mistake of not
2155s leveling very hard um at slightly higher
2158s ranks people have got the memo right so
2160s they level super hard and then a very
2161s high ranks you'll see a mix right
2163s because then you'll find then you'll
2165s find the players that recognize they
2167s can't level because they've kind of hit
2169s that point of uh having to scrap for for
2172s fourth or fifth however i will say that
2174s even scrapping for fourth does tend to
2176s involve leveling because that's where
2178s mantid queen and leroy and all the
2180s things that you tend to need
2182s faux reaper all that stuff that you need
2184s to scam a few extra ranks over the
2185s course of the game
2187s do tend to be on the high tavern tiers
2188s anyway so i think this meta is really
2190s finding a finding ways to level wherever
2193s possible really abusing that damage cap
2195s as much as you can in most positions
2197s we'll just quickly point out as well
2199s just in case uh people are wondering and
2201s the scoreboard's not quite correct
2203s because roger's stuck at the top and not
2205s on eudora i believe roger's playing
2207s mutinous who's currently the seventh
2209s spot uh so just kind of ignore roger's
2212s first play sitting at the top there
2214s pretend it doesn't exist and he's
2215s further down and keep an eye on the
2217s little mutinous
2218s in the in the bottom left there but yeah
2220s sorry about that we will get that fixed
2221s going forward uh but still uh what do
2223s you make of these choices here i mean to
2225s me it's just all if it says naga you
2227s pick it it's also the plus eight damages
2230s and nothing to be ignored it looks like
2233s zigza is actually going to go on to the
2235s uh quillboard instead
2238s dynamic duo is certainly a piece of a
2243s composition that can throw a lot of
2244s stats everywhere if you get the new
2246s dargah's elder on quillboard and dynamic
2249s duo is absolutely one of the minions you
2251s are going to want to have
2253s uh which may have just been the
2254s motivation there from six so it was also
2256s the individually biggest minion i
2257s suppose just most tempo right then
2260s but i think also an interesting thing to
2262s look at is
2263s it was a triple into a four right just
2265s forget about what the actual options
2267s were and what ended up happening that
2269s decision to take a four instead of
2271s greeting super hard four or six is very
2273s very interesting in and of itself
2276s yeah again we just see six are really
2278s focusing on going for that uh that hero
2281s power getting active as quickly as
2283s possible we are going to go over to
2284s south king though who's
2286s gonna be on those blood gems and this is
2288s a big one right i know you've played a
2290s lot of this hero so
2292s how how important are these blood gems
2295s did it make it as big an impact as i
2297s think a few people theorize before the
2298s patch hit
2300s yeah they're so huge um honestly
2303s i i don't end up using that many of them

2320s are very heavily rewarded because you
2323s just want to level and having things
2325s like two extra mana for leveling like
2326s omu gets or two blood gems for leveling
2329s just help you defend tempo a little bit
2331s save some health and you just get
2333s incentivized to just go to six that much
2335s quicker and if you do get there and if
2337s you've managed to be incredibly strong
2340s uh speaking of incredibly strong we
2342s found our first incredibly strong player
2345s of the game with the orgazoa see if you
2348s get into this position say as uh as
2350s blackthorne and then you have a bunch of
2352s blood gems still to spare then obviously
2354s you can perhaps hold on and wait for
2356s that greedy this is synergy to really
2358s pump your board immediately but boy oh
2361s boy
2362s alucard has hit and it is looking like
2364s he is going to be the one to watch in
2366s this lobby right now because just
2368s scanning through everyone else
2370s i do not see a six-drop nago on anyone
2373s else's board right now right
2376s he's currently the only player on tavern
2377s tier five uh that i can see and also 29
2381s health saul it's fine right he can take
2384s a hit or two and it and still be more
2386s than okay because it's such a short
2389s window of time it takes to actually
2391s benefit from these potential scaling
2393s options gonna take seven now go down to
2395s 22 so obviously wouldn't have liked to
2397s take that much damage but still i think
2400s it's fine because other players are
2402s still having to play catch up and at
2404s some point
2405s the other players will spend a good
2407s chunk of gold on levelling right and and
2409s that's where you'd imagine alucard will
2411s really snap back as he's got yet another
2413s choice at a discovery naga this turn i
2415s wonder if he's thinking of level then
2417s discover because i would not hate it the
2420s only question i've got is he has a leroy
2422s on board and he has a ticket on board to
2424s uh go out so well the ticket on board i
2428s was almost using as an argument two
2430s level because he could have leveled
2432s discovered something from the potential
2434s pool of six sold the micro mummy and the
2437s power
2438s bought a ticket and then this would have
2440s been a six as well so you would have
2441s potentially had two bites at the ethica
2444s cherry or additional orgasoid at that
2446s point whichever way you want to go about
2448s it i think it was enticing with that 22
2450s health available but now finally we see
2454s sal king now caught up as well he joins
2456s the party finds the orgazoa as well
2459s and has a much more impactful board at
2462s doing so he will be in the position i'm
2464s sure to just level straight to six next
2466s term with this level of strength key
2469s point right now
2470s neither player that we've seen with an
2472s orgasoa has a siren and i think that is
2475s the first key point of synergy that you
2477s really want with that orgazoa because it
2479s just starts feeding you
2481s straight up economy first and foremost
2483s just raw number of cards in hand at the
2485s end of the turn is fantastic you're
2487s getting uh you know free milker
2489s essentially just by having the minion on
2491s board without any combat rng but then
2493s also just the ability to get additional
2495s strong minions and triples and so on
2496s that that synergy generates i think
2498s siren is the first order of business for
2500s both of these players right now
2504s though he's going to be facing garage i
2506s believe and this is the slight problem
2510s that we were talking about that people
2512s who aren't really full nagar are gonna
2514s face obviously rogers making a
2516s kind of way to transform into naga with
2519s their mutants hero power but yeah
2523s the minions get so big so fast and
2525s salking isn't even really popping off as
2527s naga right he's just getting the good
2529s stuff at the moment but still winning
2532s that fight and pushing damage on roger
2533s even more he's currently sitting in
2535s eighth place so far

2558s athisa and now we're going to see some
2559s of that blood gem synergy this is one of
2561s the big boons of having quillboard in
2563s the lobbies you get those extra spells
2566s that can go very nicely with the thissa
2568s now we get to have the debate raven
2570s which i'm sure is going to annoy quite a
2572s few people where i'm going to say the
2575s slightly controversial statement that
2577s having these two lava lurkers on yana
2580s says board might actually be to his
2582s detriment at this point because
2586s those two lava lurkers are minions that
2588s do not get procked at the end of the
2589s turn by siren and when siren procs
2592s spellcraft minions at the end of the
2594s turn it does activate officer which
2596s means you're getting auto passive
2598s scaling at the end of your turn for
2600s every spellcraft generating minion that
2602s you have in play which lava lurker is
2604s not
2605s that is how it works despite the fact
2607s that's not how it worded yes it annoys
2609s me and hopefully we will get that
2611s cleared up at some point one way or the
2613s other but hey what do i know just hit
2615s the triple and that solves the problem
2616s for you nice and easy yeah i mean that
2619s was a great outcome to hit that triple
2620s and freeze there but one thing i was
2622s looking at is actually hero powering the
2624s snail stats onto the onto a lava and
2627s using that potentially to sell
2630s to gain some space because in the late
2632s game as we can see the big fight
2634s happening right now in the late game
2636s naga is all about controlling board
2638s spaces and getting the most out of each
2640s uh each space in itself and as you said
2642s there are too many minions currently
2645s uh janice i think you said that them
2648s that don't do any anything active
2651s that is a huge fight
2654s a huge outcome but that damage cap still
2657s being in place
2658s meant that alucard was always going to
2659s be safe we can see alucard has gone to
2661s six as well everyone else still one term
2664s behind he did do it with the smallest
2666s board we saw that when he hit his
2668s orgasoa but because he did it a turn
2670s earlier he's now been the one going to
2672s six and yes he's been hit hard for it
2674s yes he's on two hp but he is in a
2676s wonderful position overall

2686s orchestra as well

2723s that tavern leveled up to six relatively

2730s right like he's not actually hit
2732s anything that's a big payoff as you
2733s mentioned earlier no siren there's a
2735s double critter anglers in there as well
2737s but not enough self buffs going on with
2740s wranglers you really need a siren on the
2742s board in some shape or form does have it
2744s now of course so he will be able to
2746s start stacking those buffs but stacking
2748s those buffs on two health is maybe a
2751s little bit too late
2753s well i mean it depends right you check
2755s your opponents in this position um you
2757s see what they're showing as i believe
2758s kid will be showing as mechs four or
2761s five depending on what the board state
2762s is we're looking at current board state
2764s obviously the track the uh the sidebar
2766s tracker in-game tracker will look one
2768s turn ago
2769s someone showing as mechs at this point i
2772s think you're feeling fairly comfortable
2773s to do whatever you want as long as that
2775s as long as that thing does not say naga
2777s i think you'd feel relatively
2778s comfortable that you can take this out
2780s however kid on the other side with a
2782s really smart play it's small odds but
2784s it's odds there is one poison minion
2786s hanging out on that right hand side
2788s which gives him one particular juicy
2791s attack that might be able to bail him

2797s tie it's going to be a tie but for a

2802s the uh the current king of the naga
2804s alucard in control on six having the
2807s juice could have just been killed there
2810s and we do see i believe
2812s uh mutinous uh roger the mysterious
2815s mutinous is actually going out in eighth
2818s so just for maximum irony the bugged
2820s player who's going to be stuck in first
2822s place on our sidebar tracker is actually
2825s in eighth
2826s yeah and that that was huge the poison

2830s yeah and that was the issue and kind of
2832s what i was meaning from alucard he had
2834s the uh golden mermaid which is huge but
2837s it's one big minion when there's leroy
2840s in the game when there's poison in the
2841s game you know
2842s it's likely to do well but we saw the
2845s opportunity of him going out but alucard
2848s survived which means he's getting at
2849s worst seventh now uh dodged that eighth
2852s place at zero points but now checking
2854s out six so he's gonna pick up the glow
2855s scale it's one thing i really like about
2857s naga being in the lobbies is
2859s yes naga are very strong fine but you
2862s can also use them as just their like
2864s almost battle cry effects right you can
2866s cycle them through on any given turn
2868s even if you're not naga and just say
2870s well this will beef up my turn for one
2872s turn at an absolute worst and i really
2875s like that you know they've got that
2876s extra sort of effect even in comps that
2878s aren't actually you know pushing hard on
2880s naga oh

2925s creative ways to try and just yoink

2957s board now this kind of illustrates my

2966s 30s one of them had divine shield he had
2969s a glow scale in play as well
2971s pushing as hard as he possibly could
2974s with a different minion type just got
2976s murdered by nagoya you can't do it right
2978s it just doesn't work i'm not calling
2980s what zigza was doing a mistake that's
2982s very possibly what he was dealt by bob
2984s we didn't really follow him a great deal
2985s during that game but i do think it
2987s illustrates the point that that is just
2988s not what anyone wants to be doing in
2990s these yeah i i think when you when
2993s you're forced or choose to do that
2995s you have to hope you hit the weakest
2997s naga player right and then dodge for at
3000s least a little not at all yeah yeah
3003s are there that many not naga players
3004s though in your average lobby so that's
3006s my question so you have to just hope you
3008s don't hit the one that's really popping
3010s off uh this is looking solid though from
3012s south king has the cleave it's not huge
3014s right now but again there are buffs that
3016s naga can generate that can make it huge
3018s especially from the uh the archer is the
3021s main one especially it's golden like
3022s just a plus 16 attack going through and
3025s maybe with some help from some other
3026s minions as well but looking decent it's
3029s not it's not mega scaling yet but the
3032s tools are there
3034s what i'm particularly curious about is
3036s this replicating menace in salking's
3038s hand
3040s because uh replicating so magnetic
3042s minions on mechs have a pretty
3043s interesting interaction right now where
3044s you can actually spellcraft them in the
3047s shop i mean you can do that to any
3048s minion but it makes sense to do it on a
3050s uh on a magnetic minion and then pick
3052s them up and dump them like on your faux
3053s reaper for example where they are then
3055s transformed into permanent stats and
3058s permanent effects so finally kind of
3060s interesting there's a replicating menace
3061s in his hand right now that's not being
3063s used he might have just felt like he
3064s couldn't really open up the board space
3066s in a satisfying way to make the magnetic
3068s happen in that position uh but very
3070s curious about what the plan for this
3073s menace is going to be over the next turn
3074s or two i wonder if it's so well there we
3076s go we are going to see uh the draw or
3078s the straw going out there but i wonder
3080s if it's some kind of tech in the
3082s if he needs to he can drop the menace on
3086s the golem move it across just a little
3088s bit and then maybe the one ones can ping
3090s divine shields because in in the late
3092s game naga can actually generate a
3094s million divine shields potentially
3097s so maybe that's something but i do agree
3099s i think the stat buffs are huge in
3101s general but of course aren't going to be
3102s here for the south king now that he's
3104s spent the turn not playing it
3106s and we do see
3108s sjmr beaufort biting the dust as well
3112s beaufort did everything that we could do
3114s from what we saw didn't see too much of
3116s sjmr in particular but this is what they
3119s are up against if you don't hit this
3122s stuff you are going to be in trouble
3124s this is what your board is supposed to
3126s look like at this point i would even
3128s argue what is this turn 13 i'd say this
3131s is actually fairly small for this period
3134s of the game in terms of like what the
3136s biggest person the bully in the lobby is
3138s supposed to be doing and this is still
3140s on cabin five by the way
3143s look at the swap on the fitter as well
3146s that's pretty pretty huge game bristle
3148s back night to just really power through
3150s a really strong effect as well with the
3152s frenzy
3153s and this is what i was talking about
3154s earlier with the sort of fast battle cry
3156s style naga where you just go give me the
3158s spell cell give me the spell cell and
3160s just cycle through your turn like that
3162s to just get maximum amount of buffs that
3164s you can uh really do here so looking
3166s good so far
3168s for yeah yeah lying on the bristle back
3171s stronger as well when there are
3173s quillboard in the lobby as well right
3174s she just gets so many extra targets in
3176s the shop that can dump blood gems into
3178s your hand give you those additional
3179s spells really start pumping those
3181s officers yeah really cute little play
3183s making uh the huge divine shield win
3185s fury frenzy minion as well um massive
3188s output and obviously like yeah you can
3190s uh you can take those stats off of this
3192s uh she's gonna get him right back
3194s eventually you know there's not gonna be
3196s a huge detriment to the overall state of
3197s your board and i think this was the
3199s understanding from jana say right to say
3201s okay i'm up against another one of the
3203s the bullies in the lobby i'm up against
3205s another naga player i'm going to maximum
3208s tempo king this turn and give myself
3210s every possibility of killing this player
3212s now so i don't have to deal with them
3214s again in a couple of fights turn and
3216s it's going to pay out
3218s massively
3219s as uh i think does now establish himself
3222s as the absolute alpha bully of this
3225s lobby taking out everyone else
3228s yeah and we see there as well alucard
3230s kids going away as well uh alucardo
3233s securing that top four even though he
3235s did get ahead in the lobby very very
3237s quickly indeed in terms of tavern level
3240s he did look weaker when he did so right
3242s there is that moment you know he went
3243s down to two health uh but stuck it out
3246s and landed a top four so not too bad of
3248s a start for him uh so far but now it's
3250s just going to be between a south king
3252s and the iana say here and both players
3254s settle guess what i'm popping off with
3256s naga who would have thought
3259s i'm shocked
3260s yeah
3261s difficult mechanical turn to have here
3264s try and get as much value out of this as
3266s possible okay gives up uh one short of
3269s the maximum spellcraft did not play one
3271s of those minions but i think board space
3273s concerns make that relatively impossible
3275s you could argue
3277s i think fairly accurately that this
3279s orgazoa is not going to hang around on
3281s the board for the end of the turn so it
3283s might have been worth just getting it
3284s out preemptively
3286s yeah i need to actually make room for a
3287s different for a spellcraft to go in i'm
3289s actually quite surprised it's still
3291s there for me it's one of the best
3293s minions that goes the first if that
3296s makes sense like i get rid of it early
3297s because it isn't as you can see it's not
3299s gaining buffs because it is not a naga
3301s even though of course it has um like
3304s incredible naga synergy uh he is just
3307s trying to gain max value from it instead
3310s does have the uh the the
3312s dynamic duo tech cards of a mantid queen
3315s and leroy two of the new cards that i
3317s think everyone likes to pick up at least
3319s one or two of and hold if needed they're
3321s gonna be choosing to drop the leroy down
3323s now and just look at the size of this
3326s board my only question is how strong is
3329s this golem right now for him
3332s what's a golem
3336s the foe reaper you mean oh
3338s i just sorry that's my own terms i
3340s always just call it harvest golem yeah
3342s because i just stole them because that's
3343s what it is
3345s oh is it really okay it is it's the same
3347s as a harvest golem it's just a boss
3349s version of one basically so yeah i i in
3352s my own head i'm gonna get on my high
3353s horse and saying that like just knowing
3355s things about law just actually made life
3357s more confusing for everybody that's
3359s fantastic you know
3360s yeah just be ignorant about everything
3362s to do with warcraft it just makes that
3364s snake person

3369s um but back to the actual interesting
3373s decisions here i do think so sal king
3376s got greedy here with the orgasm and it's
3378s fine you can see that he could afford to
3380s lose that fight in most situations and
3382s not die because the amount of health he
3383s had i do think the opportunity was
3385s potentially there to look at it the
3386s other way around though and just say
3388s well if i got incredibly strong right
3390s now sold the orgazoa for another leroy
3392s or a mounted queen or something to uh
3395s you know get divine shield poison
3396s something in play maybe i can deal 21 to
3399s my opponent i don't necessarily think
3401s that's true either surprisingly even
3404s though late game naga boards are kind of
3406s full of five six four drops you don't
3409s tend to do that much damage to each
3412s other when it comes down to the final
3413s showdown it's normally only one or two
3415s minions that end up living it's very
3417s rare that you're just that much bigger
3419s than your opponent going into that spot
3421s and so i think expecting to do 15 or
3423s less damage at a time is fairly
3425s reasonable which makes sal king's
3426s decision to kind of hold on to the uh
3428s the orgasoid milk a little bit longer
3431s pretty smart and now we're seeing sao
3433s king go with taunted here we go well
3437s in response uh to what jana say might be
3439s doing on the other side which is a very
3441s very big deal indeed uh we'll have to
3444s see what the reaction is on the other
3446s side because this is a very curious meta
3448s to play around leroy positioning on both
3451s sides we'll see if janaz has moved a
3452s smaller minion up first as a bumper and
3455s he has this is now a huge outcome as to
3458s where this goes and that is the good
3460s attack for the bulging in that position
3462s for sure
3464s yeah now we are going to see oh
3466s that was huge yeah divine shield sided
3468s off first before going into the poison
3472s and that is now going to be another tie
3475s as we go back to the well one more time
3478s with these players having to scrap this
3479s one out
3480s and i'm not sure about your sort of
3482s final two games you've played subtle but
3485s games like this when it ends in the two
3487s naga players just just smashing into
3489s each other basically can go on for a
3491s long time and you play weird mind games
3494s with your opponents because they're
3496s access to so many weird texts that can
3498s help out for example you could start
3501s looking at potential ghouls if your
3503s opponent goes like mass divine shield
3506s um especially with mantids and such you
3508s can look at more divine shields with the
3510s help of say selfless as we can see and
3512s as they go for now there are so many
3514s different ways to build your board and i
3516s found myself like almost changing board
3519s state nearly every turn um just to try
3522s and out-think my opponent and i think
3524s that's what these two players are going
3525s for right now my only question is does
3527s oh okay i was gonna say uh uh does the
3530s naga generator really need to still be
3531s on the board and you know say agrees no
3534s it does not and sells it
3535s yeah agreed i think this is the similar
3537s situation i was talking about before
3539s like
3540s technically he could greed one more turn
3543s here probably if he really wants to in
3544s terms of just him just staying alive but
3547s you can look at it the other way right
3548s opponent at 12 let's give up my milk now
3551s just to be as strong as humanly possible
3553s and try and kill my opponent in this
3554s spot a hundred hundred selfless hero is
3558s certainly an interesting tech in this
3560s spot
3561s but you are right the mind games that
3563s come just purely from leroy positioning
3566s and whether you want to taunt leroy or
3567s not just that individual mind game adds
3570s about three or four different layers to
3572s just how you line up your board for this
3574s following fight double taunted leroy now
3577s on the other side
3579s uh that leroy is going to take down an
3580s entire poison divine shield which is
3582s massive that you see there is the
3585s reasoning behind swapping all of those
3586s stats away from the glow scale right
3589s because he knows the leroys are going to
3590s crash into that anyway because it has
3592s taunt so that's a big w but guess what
3595s we are back once again in one more tie
3600s honest i i think the longest game had we
3602s were on turn 17 in this game the longest
3604s one i had was i think 23 turns and like
3609s the last six or seven turns were just
3611s this and we were just drawing every
3613s single time
3615s 23. yes that's ridiculous
3618s yeah honestly i'm not even that's not
3620s even an exaggeration either that's just
3622s i'm pretty sure that i it was at least
3624s 22 and i'm sure there was one extra turn
3625s past that so yeah okay crazy stuff but
3628s again
3629s the weird problem now

3633s how each player reacts to their opponent
3637s right and their opponent's board state
3638s where can the improvements be made and
3641s the one thing i find most hilarious all
3643s is the players spend so long building up
3646s these really big naga boards to end up
3649s selling most of it in the late game and
3651s going for like i want this 6-2 with the
3652s death rattle and stuff like which is a
3655s lot of these like games do end up being
3657s yeah it's the leroy dynamic is very
3659s strange because leroy will you know
3661s almost always one for one with an
3663s opponent right you know caveat some
3665s crazy beast gas coiler mama bear bree
3668s summon thing which as mentioned earlier
3671s doesn't really exist at the moment so
3672s you can kind of forget about it so the
3675s dynamic of like which one of my minions
3678s on board on average is less than a one
3680s for one with my opponent because if
3682s that's true of any of your minions you
3683s want to replace them with leroy's over
3685s the course of the game which is quite
3687s strange considering that over most of
3690s the game they've been three or four for
3692s running your opponent in most spots
3694s here we go i really like this from the
3696s honestly going for another bristleback
3697s night
3699s and just saying wind fury super strong
3702s the divine shield going in there the
3703s incredibly high attack but now we just
3705s see just just an amalgam just chilling i
3707s think it was like a six seven or six
3709s eight or something there
3711s finally it's gonna be a win there we go
3712s a w and six plus six makes twelve this
3716s is the spot that we've been in for quite
3719s some time very nicely done yeah i do
3721s think that bristleback night is a very
3723s cute tech not something that i've been
3725s involving in my gameplay particularly
3727s obviously it's very specific to vol'jin
3729s exactly um but just the idea of the
3732s frenzy most importantly like yeah divine
3734s shield's great uh win fury is great but
3737s a win fury
3739s irrelevant to sometimes positive
3741s sometimes negative wind fury is a hard
3743s thing to quantify in in terms of
3744s particular board state but it's the
3746s frenzy right it's that that promise of
3748s an additional divine shield and i think
3751s opponent um sjmr was kind of responding
3754s as best he could the only way to stop
3756s all those frenzies and divine shields
3757s going off is just to kind of lean back
3759s into full poison scam on the other side
3761s i think he recognized uh that he was the
3764s smaller of the two players he went more
3766s heavily into divine shield poison
3769s but i think his final push was one turn
3771s earlier because it was as we joined sjmr
3774s he was out of divine shields i think his
3776s glow scales were used up and sold so he
3779s didn't have divine shields left in his
3780s hand to continue to divine shield his
3782s poison murlocs at that point and that
3784s left him in a position where he was
3786s always going to struggle from that point
3787s did very well to find as many mounted
3789s queens and leroys to fill up as he could
3791s but in the end jana say just did a
3793s little bit too much but congratulations
3795s of course to uh all of our players who
3798s successfully did the thing
3800s won the game and i think already in game
3803s one we saw the the full ver i'll put i'm
3805s not gonna say full but a large variety
3808s of the general play styles and outcomes
3810s right uh alucard went super early and
3813s and super value-based getting that early
3815s tavern but got punished for the general
3817s lack of tempo and weakness by going down
3819s so low did still manage the top four
3821s though uh we had players such as sixxo
3824s and beaufort not get hold of the the
3827s naga and being able to really bank on
3829s that so having to do something different
3831s and you know getting punished for it in
3833s all honesty yeah they didn't go out in
3835s eighth but still it was pretty bad
3837s and then we had players such as uh
3839s janice who just did pop off with naga
3841s and then managed to very nicely execute
3844s the late game 1v1s which happens in a

3853s normally is at the moment and this is my
3855s question now just going back looking at
3857s sao king here um
3860s was the big question for me is could
3862s more have been made out of that faux
3864s reaper as a potential solution to the
3866s problems that was being on the other
3867s side i don't necessarily think that
3868s would be the case because it was so
3870s divine shield heavy and
3873s everything was above 100 on the other
3875s side which would have made it still very
3876s difficult even with the faux reaper
3878s to be able to get work done overall but
3880s i do think that was maybe the one route
3882s that could have been looked at a little
3884s bit more heavily uh from south king who
3886s i believe i was in uh erroneously
3888s referring to as sjmr a couple of seconds
3890s ago apologies for that um but for me i
3892s think it was a very interesting battle
3894s in the first game and i think a good
3896s snapshot of what we're going to be
3898s looking at for most of the game
3899s yeah it was interesting as one of the
3901s reasons i was bringing up the golem
3903s reaper i'm going to choose to call it
3905s going forward and it was that it's it's
3908s attack was relatively low when we're
3909s talking about naga numbers of course but
3912s also it's it's position like middle ish
3916s in the row was kind of strange too
3918s because it it didn't look like he was
3919s even trying to use it as a divine shield
3921s breaker right you know okay if it
3923s attacks second or third i can maybe
3925s knock two to three divine shields out
3926s and then that'll help me so yeah it
3928s didn't really pay off too well but there
3930s you see the leaderboard after the first
3932s game here with the nsa getting those
3934s seven points and already eyes will be
3937s drawn to the natural top and bottom of
3940s this leaderboard but do i just quickly
3942s break down why there are suddenly point
3944s numbers on this screen subtle that makes
3946s it look very messy indeed
3948s yeah so when the players are eliminated
3950s at the same time so if you die and
3952s someone else dies at the same time and
3955s there were various ways of handling this
3958s but i think in designing the rules for
3959s this hearthstone esports decide the best
3961s way to handle it which is the same way
3963s that the ladder and the client handles
3965s it which is if you die at the same time
3966s as your opponent even though you are
3968s arbitrarily assigned which one of you
3970s came sixth or seventh for example uh
3973s your mmr gain in terms of ladder is
3975s split evenly between the players who
3977s tied for the same place so that is
3979s essentially the same thing that we are
3981s doing for lobby legends so if you die at
3983s the same time as someone else it's the
3985s point for the two positions you died in
3988s added together and then divided by two
3990s as same as your three players die at the
3992s same time but divided by three and so on
3994s and that's why you might see some
3996s fractional and decimal scores coming out
3998s on our leaderboards but hopefully you
4000s can all follow along as we get to uh one
4002s decimal place of significant data yeah
4006s as long as it doesn't keep going wider
4008s and wider it's like yeah point three
4009s four five six two one uh i'll i'll be
4012s able to keep up just about uh it says a
4014s lot about your brain that when called
4016s upon to do a random string of numbers it
4018s was just consecutive years
4022s point proven i think you'll find subtle
4024s point proven indeed uh well that was the

4240s game two of lobby a here we just had uh
4243s you know the first game an exciting one
4245s indeed coming down to guess what two
4247s naga comes facing off against each other
4250s for a few rounds but some really
4252s creative ways to to uh sort of gain an
4255s edge on your opponent we saw in there
4257s but overall what you takes from game one
4259s because this is the first game of this
4261s fresh brand new meta
4263s yeah i posed a question at the start
4265s which needed answering because we don't
4268s know what the competitive meta looked
4269s like and we've been burned before so i
4272s have to ask the question
4273s can they find a way to absolutely tempo
4276s out hard enough that players lose too
4278s much health to triple into sixes right
4281s and then you kind of cut off
4283s naga at source by doing it that way
4285s based on one game sample size the answer
4288s to that is a resounding
4289s no because we saw
4291s um a reborn death rattle double meccano
4294s tank with divine shield poison from
4297s beaufort we saw double scaling wrath
4300s weavers with um tricksters and divine
4304s shields from zixo two incredibly high
4307s tempo opening we didn't dig in with
4309s roger too much but just from seeing him
4311s on the other side of combat he was also
4313s doing early tempo demons with rath
4315s weaver as well and he died in eighth so
4318s based on our first game sample
4320s that stuff just doesn't work which is
4322s kind of what i i called out at the
4324s beginning right and i think
4326s it is going to have to be a matter of
4328s hit or scam as best as possible and if
4331s you're not hitting you just have to find
4332s a way to turn seventh into sixth sixth
4334s into fifth fifth into fourth and just
4336s try and do that every game possible wow
4339s that's a patchwork okay let's go
4343s yeah and so honestly speaking about this
4346s pick here because we are looking at uh
4348s jana say who won the previous lobby so
4351s currently sitting on seven points um
4354s obviously the choices weren't
4356s mind-blowing from what i saw but is is
4359s this a choice to just say well if i just
4360s pick patchwork and just again try and
4363s play all right i'm likely to not get
4365s eight
4366s and you know just just to retain some
4368s level of point gain raven i think you're
4370s right on the money i think that's
4371s exactly what it is i think he's looking
4373s at those heroes and he looks at a
4375s patchwork and says if i get out of this
4377s lobby with fourth fifth just from not
4380s being able to lose health quickly enough
4382s to
4383s die before other people
4385s cool game three go next you know we'll
4387s work from there i think that's
4389s absolutely fine in the position that
4390s he's in makes a lot of sense
4392s looking around the rest of the tavern
4395s sjmr has omu one of the very best heroes
4398s talked about this before uh incentivized
4401s to level rewarded for leveling and that
4405s is the absolute turbo nuts opening omu
4409s wants economy unit on one so he's able
4412s to do this level on two use that economy
4414s to then pick up an additional minion
4416s with that boosted gold from the level
4418s but picking up not only the economy unit
4421s high attack economy unit that can
4423s actually trade nicely with other things
4425s and then also finding the pair to go
4428s along with that on the level is
4430s absolutely massive elsewhere kid on
4432s barov another massive hero for high
4434s rolling and going for first alucard on
4437s the queen ashara same deal great
4439s position and now xixo this time on the
4442s myev will be looking to be one of the
4444s bullies in the uh lobby as well
4447s very very nice looking spread of heroes
4450s lots of potential
4452s high roll potential for a lot of these
4454s heroes to find their way to those tavern
4456s six nagas yeah one thing i do want to
4458s keep an eye on and i'm sure you know we
4459s can make maybe in a few turns time we'll
4461s check in but roger playing flogal as
4463s well is a tough one because roger's
4466s currently on zero points so he needs big
4469s finishes for this this game and the next
4471s one and fleurgal although is very very
4474s strong uh is it strong enough right i
4477s think that's gonna be the question that
4478s needs to be answered here because it's
4480s not like now uh i mean
4482s we've i've played a naga game as flogal
4485s before it happens and maybe roger will
4487s too but generally speaking the heavy
4490s focus on murlocs like what result will
4493s that get roger because if it's not at
4495s least you know honestly first second at
4497s this point i think he's gonna have a
4498s very very difficult task uh go going for
4501s him in the future
4503s coin coin level coin hero power for the
4507s barrows on that position with a triple
4509s already frozen in shop is a
4512s interesting line for sure because i
4514s would imagine with that triple already
4516s frozen
4517s uh that you might be looking to level a
4519s little bit more aggressively in that
4520s position you are barrel if you continue
4522s to use bets uh can sorry continue to win
4524s bets you'll have all the gold that you
4526s need to be able to power level super
4527s fast potentially take that even as a six
4530s so the choice to stay down and defend
4532s some health there is a really
4534s interesting one from our barrow of
4536s player we did not see the choice of the
4539s bet but we will see at least the outcome
4542s oh that's terrible news
4545s for kid i don't know exactly what his
4548s curve plan is for this triple but i can
4550s promise you it hinged on getting some
4553s extra money from some gambling here
4555s yeah at this point do you think he's
4557s gonna just level buy something else and
4560s freeze
4561s uh just to
4562s buy more time and not triple into a two
4565s which feels very uh
4567s meek at best
4568s i mean the problem now is yeah because
4570s he didn't level on the previous turn on
4572s kind of chief curve and because he
4574s missed on the bet
4576s he's now a long way away from actually
4578s turning that triple into anything
4580s impactful because
4581s gone are the days you're like okay i'm
4582s gonna take a greedy triple here and a
4584s greedy triple could be a five into a
4586s bran or something right like that's just
4588s not good enough anymore you have two
4590s options you take triple straight away
4592s for tempo or you take sixes there's no
4595s middle ground essentially right so he's
4597s now so far away from being able to uh do
4601s anything impactful with this it'll be
4602s very interesting to see how he gets
4604s there now yeah would actually expect to
4606s see just a level hero power again next
4608s turn from him as well
4610s just to just to try and catch up because
4611s i think he's already hit the point where
4613s like the words high roll are gonna come
4615s into it because he just needs to just
4617s accelerate the level and hit something
4619s absolutely huge here he's gonna be able
4621s to push a decent chunk of damage into
4624s the omu so uh sjmr is gonna be dropped
4627s down to what's that 34.
4630s but still as omu the benefit you get
4632s from the fast level doesn't really
4633s matter hello all right to the moon kids
4636s dilemma is sold we know what's happening
4638s here that is two triples in shop now and
4641s a one bet
4643s and i'm sure we will rejoin him when he
4645s completes his eventual journey to tavern
4647s six very relevant by the way there was
4649s the chef's kiss trade of the spawn of
4651s n'zoth into his one attack minion during
4654s that previous fight against the omu
4656s which probably uh allowed him to push
4658s damage may have been a tie if that had
4661s gone differently
4662s but that meant that meant that he still
4664s has plenty of health to play with here
4667s uh south king now does have kind of the
4669s tempo naga start here with snail and
4672s lava lurker uh this
4674s uh generally means you will level uh a
4676s little bit quicker than other people
4678s because you will have so many stats on
4680s board the one thing he is missing right
4682s now though is just a spellcraft minion
4685s which he would love to
4686s welcome to the team at the nearest
4688s possible juncture because that'll
4690s activate his snail synergy it'll also
4692s start uh pumping the lava lurker as well
4694s and i think that really will allow
4695s salking to feel very secure about going
4698s through the levels as quickly as
4699s possible yeah he does have the uh the
4701s bootleg version which is uh the little
4704s there
4705s over on the left just be able to put
4707s some way here and make these minions a
4709s little bit more survivable make the lava
4711s do a little bit more damage for some
4712s better trades but you're completely
4714s right and this is the thing you sort of
4715s half happy to see and half upset about
4717s when you want to play nagar is you get
4719s the good scaling minions but nothing to
4721s scale them with and that is actually
4723s just an absurd amount of damage so early
4726s massive massive chunk of damage really
4729s important as well people don't
4730s necessarily know it they do because kid
4733s is baroff but they don't see the frozen
4735s shop that we saw so it is extremely
4738s important that everyone smacks kid as
4740s hard as possible that sounds awful why
4742s did i choose those exact words to come
4744s out of my mouth um
4746s it's very important to deal as much
4748s damage to kid as possible in this
4750s situation because
4752s if you leave him if you leave him above
4754s 15 he is just going to take greedy
4756s triples and get two six drops and
4758s potentially run away with the lobby
4759s right now they don't know that but their
4762s their best inclination is well he's a
4764s baroff who's power leveling there's
4766s probably a good chance that there is a
4768s triple frozen in the shop and they would
4769s be absolutely right in that assessment
4772s yeah so alucard
4775s currently on what is that 16 damage at a
4777s quick count or 16 attack
4779s um
4781s not looking like too great of a sharp
4784s just probably making the choice now
4785s between just
4786s leveling up or just going for the roles
4788s to keep on stacking because i think
4790s right now solo or at least between the
4792s casters there are and i don't even mean
4793s me and subtle but some of the other
4795s people and the main one may not be
4797s listening and there's a lot of
4798s discussion on how
4801s how to play ashara right and like
4803s whether you trained stacks
4805s do you stay low and stack early or
4807s whether you just like spam level and get
4809s the hero power when you get it and not
4811s worry too much i know i know i like to
4813s just sort of let the hero power proc
4815s whenever it wants to while i'm playing
4817s just a naga game anyway
4818s listen if dragons are in
4821s there's one thing you want to do yes
4823s that's the goal you take chroma wing and
4825s you just try and pump if you get chroma
4827s wing blood gem or chroma wing mini
4829s myrmidon you can literally just chief
4832s curve straight to tavern four and
4835s complete the quest as you press the
4836s tavern four button hero power same turn
4838s that's what you want to do if you can't
4841s do that that's when the debate comes in
4842s but i don't think there's necessarily
4843s much debate on like how to play ashara
4846s it's how quickly the ashara quest
4848s completes if you don't have that
4850s chromowing support sure
4852s we'll we'll we'll we'll share him out
4854s specifically because he's listening and
4855s he can't argue back which is the best
4857s scenario
4858s but lorinda was telling me that you
4860s always complete on five or six which i
4862s completely disagree with and i think you
4863s just saw the evidence there alucard i'm
4866s sure knows what he's doing he's played
4868s high tempo i'm sure he's bought the
4870s biggest things that he can possibly find
4871s he just went through turn six tavern
4874s phase without completing a shot request
4876s so i think i think average is above six
4879s if you're not hitting chroma wing and
4880s that does become a bit of a problem big
4882s point here a few people might be
4885s mind blown here that if this has not
4887s already been picked
4888s bought
4890s without any actual buffs of course there
4892s are the the coins in the hand there and
4894s that's a big deal for uh ayanna say but
4897s yeah i it hurts me to say it but i think
4900s i agree with this
4902s yeah so
4903s i'm very interested in this debate
4906s um
4907s because i do think it's very contextual
4909s obviously it becomes more contextual in
4913s janusa's position because he doesn't
4914s necessarily have to play to win the
4915s lobby either which is another
4916s interesting dynamic which i won't even
4918s factor in uh just for the sake of
4920s brevity here but there are certain
4922s supports that make each of those picks
4925s individually bigger right if you have a
4927s siren for example snap pick or gezoa
4930s because then siren's milking your orgasm
4932s immediately you get tons of value over
4934s time if you already have
4936s two or three other spellcraft minions so
4938s you have a nice ford naga package that
4940s you're happy to buff then for me that
4942s becomes the immediate officer and you
4944s just tempo and bully people play all
4946s your spells buff the four spellcraft
4947s naga that you already have and just go
4949s in from there either way you probably
4952s get strong enough to level to six the
4953s next turn so i don't think that really
4955s factors into the debate
4957s um but i do think it is largely
4959s contextual based on what minions you
4961s have in play but i think beyonce it
4962s would have been more contextual just on
4964s what he wants to do in this particular
4966s game i'll tell you something though just
4968s speaking about the uh
4970s the monster variant i would not want to
4972s be a siren because i would not want to
4973s try and milk one of those
4976s quite the dangerous job honestly and i'm
4978s not not down for that so although i have
4980s a huge respect for siren as a minion
4982s here wouldn't want the job
4984s but here we are jumping over to a
4985s beaufort who is doing like this looks
4988s like the starter kit right of just doing
4991s good naga things uh there's the um
4995s there's the shoal commander which is
4997s huge especially when you can start
4998s stacking buffs as well and then there's
5001s the siren these are like some of the the
5003s core minions at least i would say
5005s for now that beaufort can possibly want
5007s so it's looking all right he's on 26
5009s health as for a farm as well and reform
5012s can really get silly both i would say in
5014s the very early and the very late game
5018s everyone hitting this lobby it looks
5020s like zixo has found the orcazo as well
5024s does also have a ton of blood gems in
5026s hand which looks like he has been
5028s greeting for some time unless he's
5030s picked them up all on this turn in
5032s particular uh just based on the
5034s positioning of the spellcraft it looks
5037s like he may have had two blood gems from
5039s the previous term but hard to be sure
5042s uh however he does he's going down the
5044s double brute line as well which um you
5047s know to me
5048s allows it allows him a little bit of
5049s extra tempo early on he might just be
5051s able to bully a few people by just being
5053s initially bigger right now with the
5055s double brute
5056s but he is kind of locked into those
5059s brutes now and i do think those brutes
5061s eating up board space for the late game
5063s similar to what i was saying about lava
5064s lurker before but in this case even more
5066s so
5067s um they're just eating up board spaces
5069s that if you're going to go full naga
5071s just aren't spellcraft minions are not
5073s being procked by your golden siren and
5075s allowing plus 16 plus 16 from your
5078s golden officer by the end of the game
5080s big big deal overall roger surviving as
5083s a fleurgal on two health here thank you
5086s damage cap we go again yeah honestly
5089s just quickly on brutes i normally like
5091s one or golden i don't normally like two
5094s it depends on when you get the brute as
5095s well for that exact reason but i do
5097s think sixxo uh was is sitting at 15 so i
5101s i think he had to go there and go save
5103s because remember he gained one point
5105s from the previous lobby he needs to just
5107s survive to give himself a chance roger
5109s now on two means that any damage is
5111s going to basically take him out of this
5113s game and honestly probably just out of
5116s his chances of actually making it
5117s through to tomorrow already
5122s and this is what i was talking about
5123s right like we've been talking about naga
5125s the really the way you're consistently
5127s going to be able to win lobbies or top
5130s two lobbies for example uh the fleurgal
5132s although a good hero just
5134s doesn't feel good enough even when
5137s you're doing stuff like this like
5139s roger's doing well right he's got some a
5142s lot of big murlocs he's not got the
5143s seven which is like the thing you were
5146s really missing right now or a brand i
5148s guess but overall
5150s the murlocs are strong are they strong
5152s enough to survive
5153s real quick can we just go back to roger
5155s just for the finish of this term because
5157s it looks like he's about to hold cards
5159s in hand on two health okay no that's
5160s fine it looked like he was stopping with
5163s cards in hand and he was like 2 hp which
5166s would have been absolutely absurd but
5168s that is fine he is finishing the turn
5170s maxing out tempo as hard as he possibly
5171s can
5174s like look at this board it looks fine is
5177s the word i would use yeah if we weren't
5179s in a narghay meta right it's it's fine
5182s we'll see uh oh here we go already
5184s mounted on one side pretty low value
5187s board overall here
5189s running into uh
5191s yep definitely with that trade going
5194s into the gurgle that was always going to
5195s be enough now so he has defended his two
5198s hp for now that is a big big deal
5201s patchwork will of course live to fight
5202s another day regardless because damage
5204s cap is still in play with all eight
5206s players alive uh only took 12 it looks
5209s like there anyway so all of our naga
5211s players still hanging around no
5214s kid on the barrow has bitten the dust
5218s with the double triple into six early he
5221s then looked level to six on that baroff
5224s but then was taken out so we do have kid
5227s now going out in eighth place which is a
5230s big problem for him puts him right back
5234s into the middle of the pack
5235s 4.5 points from the first lobby now
5238s picking up zero means he is going had to
5241s have to scrap for placement in that
5242s final lobby it was the same issue he had
5245s some good cards but a lot of it just
5247s felt like a menagerie of just some good
5249s minions as opposed to how synergistic
5252s for example sjmr's board is i think
5255s if i'm looking at this right on our
5257s little tracking tools he had a golden
5259s orchestra yes and he died that's disk he
5262s had siren golden org and died with it
5266s that is so unfortunate for kid that is a
5269s lobby winning setup right there but just
5271s did not have enough immediate tempo and
5274s that's the argument right orgazoa set
5277s you up for long-term value over the
5279s course of the game officer immediate
5281s tempo and murder people that's the
5283s option that we saw players being given
5285s very specifically
5287s which is a big big deal and these greedy
5289s greedy orgas players are actually just
5291s starting to get picked off a little bit
5293s even this it does make sense as well
5295s because the other minions were like
5296s chalga uh you know and
5300s yeah mama like it's just not minions
5302s that are realistically going to make an
5304s impact when you look at some of the
5305s other boards we've got so far
5307s sgmr
5309s doing well so far again just has the the
5311s key components um isn't playing vol jin
5314s so this bristleback knight is not gonna
5317s get you know omega huge but it's
5319s probably big enough at the moment to
5321s just you know have enough of an impact
5322s in on the game but you definitely will
5324s need to start stacking buffs very very
5326s quickly indeed because sjmr simply
5328s cannot afford to lose a fight from this
5330s point onwards
5332s yup we can now see how big alucard has
5335s got on the ashara i'm presuming massive
5338s but i like this taunted leroy on the
5340s right here from sjmr as you see
5343s immediately rewarded
5345s classically if they haven't seen your
5346s board yet a naga player is going to have
5349s a huge divine shield minion attacking
5351s first so that is a smart choice from
5354s sjmr giving himself the best possible
5356s odds but queen ashara too big hit too
5360s early that is double officer on the
5363s other side i think i might have a
5365s suspicion of who murdered the barrow if
5367s i had to guess what happened in the
5370s previous fight it's roger oh roger got a
5373s draw
5374s very nice that's huge but yeah and we
5377s just saw quickly then from alucard i'd
5379s love to set up golden siren normal siren
5382s uh two this is as well just really
5385s popping off with those buff stackings
5388s coming over to six so he's having a much
5390s better game he got taken down to 15
5392s relatively early but he's managed to
5394s really stabilize just sticking on 15
5396s health and you know at least drawing
5398s fights if not winning a few two
5401s yeah and from what we've seen from uh
5403s yeah on
5405s patchwork
5407s the board is not going to compete with
5409s these brutes unless there has been a
5411s significant upgrade these brutes are
5413s paying out pretty big for zik so right
5415s now bran murasand i think mirazond in
5418s general is a very very nice choice in
5420s the meta you do have to reprogram
5422s yourself to see murazond as a naga you
5425s just have to re-categorize it because
5427s that's what it's going to be most of the
5429s time since most of your late game
5431s opponents are going to be playing that
5432s particular minion type this a this a
5434s pickup now for yana say is huge this
5437s allows some amount of stats being dumped
5439s on the board he does also have two
5441s minion types for that mantid queen uh
5443s but as far as i can see none of the
5445s spellcraft on it already which would
5447s allow it to cheat chances at finding
5450s divine shield right if you put the wind
5451s fury or taunt spellcraft on the mantid
5454s queen it then already has that
5456s enchantment and can't gain it from the
5459s start of combat effect but that is a
5461s vanilla mounted queen as far as i can
5462s see so it's just gonna roll twice yeah
5464s and this is the frustration you can hit
5466s and i've been in this uh position many
5468s times where you think you have a good
5470s naga board but then you just never hit
5472s the triple and then you realize you're
5474s taking one spellcraft minion out for
5476s another and like does that really
5478s improve improve your board the passive
5481s scaling is just so monstrous from that
5483s double siren no divine shield though but
5486s look at the difference it made that's
5488s such a bad trade though but you looked
5491s at the way the two boards matched up
5492s going into the fight and you're like
5493s yeah zixo still has that then the
5496s passive scaling kicked in then janazei
5498s was probably i would say favored from
5501s that position but he missed on the
5503s divine shield on the mantid queen and
5505s then got the worst possible trades with
5508s his quillboard as well which means he is
5510s going to go down alongside roger both
5513s going down in fifth sixth i know and and
5516s and south king as well right and salking
5518s as well yeah all three one okay yeah
5520s incredible she's uh good for janice too
5522s right it's just that extra little you
5523s know evening out the points a little bit
5525s more which is gonna
5528s more than likely keep him at least in
5529s the top four after this game moving on
5532s though to halo card like having the time
5534s of his life i uh alucard was joint 3-4
5538s last lobby right uh so he's uh sitting
5540s on 4.5 points right now and honestly
5544s subtle
5546s unless something crazy happens he's
5547s looking like he's going to run away with
5549s this because none of the other players
5551s that are still alive feel even remotely
5553s this strong
5555s yeah i'm scanning around the rest of the
5556s lobby and i'm not really seeing a
5558s competitor i guess we go have a look at
5560s beaufort right now who looks like he
5562s might be in the closest spot to be able
5564s to fight with this there you see it does
5566s have the ghost on this turn as well
5568s we'll give the option to full greed but
5570s you can still see
5572s i said we get into this a little bit
5573s later on in terms of optimizing your
5575s late game officer board i would say
5577s beaufort is some way away from doing
5578s that you want gold and siren which he
5580s does not have you want
5582s zero
5584s spaces on your board being used up by
5586s things that are not spellcraft or a
5589s fissa and currently he's just locked

5893s sort of tuned into his view and saw the

5898s was maybe the point where if we'd made
5900s that turn and won that role and
5903s things would have looked a lot more
5905s different than zero points would be my

5912s alucard is 11.5 points i mean even if he
5916s got zero points this game there's
5919s probably a solid chance he's still in

5950s think there is one point to look at as

5954s we didn't see how every player ended up

5959s orgasm on their board um we saw one
5962s player in specific take that over the
5965s ethissa and i do think the players that
5967s were still milking and setting up with
5968s the orgazoa
5970s just got murdered by the officer players
5972s right which is definitely something to
5974s look at i think certainly on ladder the
5977s overwhelming weight seems to be going to
5979s you take orgazoa first if you have the
5981s option because that allows you to set up
5983s and spiral but i do think you know when
5985s everyone is playing more optimally when
5987s every point of gold when every stat is
5989s being maximized when everyone's playing
5991s super well
5993s that ability to just die while you are
5995s being just that one touch too greedy is
5998s something that you do have to keep an
5999s eye on but again that is always in
6001s competitive play
6003s massively contextual not only based on
6006s your board state but also based on your
6007s game state and your tournament state

6013s and i will say i think that that one we
6015s did see on stream of the actual you know

6329s being not a tier one hero just based on
6332s average i do think in the hands of very
6333s very good players uh it is a fantastic
6336s hero overall but it does make the choice
6339s to even pick it in alucard's position

6344s 4.5 from the initial lobby and then he
6348s went for a hero that is kind of first or
6350s eighth a little bit in my opinion people
6352s might you know disagree with that
6353s somewhat and say that you know even when
6355s it misses it can still hang in there but
6357s i do think that was an interesting
6358s decision overall uh speaking of which i
6361s do believe unless this is a test game
6364s players are currently being offered some
6365s heroes right now and there are some
6368s great looking choices
6370s both in fourth looking to consolidate
6372s but there is the queen ashara up against
6375s shutter walk again second time zixo has
6378s been offered shudder with no beasts in
6381s the lobby that's brutal and he's now
6384s ending up with ashara no dragons as well
6388s the minion types have not been kind to
6390s xo with the heroes he has been offered i
6392s would say they haven't but even without
6394s dragons i think the shower is a good

6451s kind of playing monotype right there's
6453s just naga everywhere uh scabs if you
6456s kind of rewind to pre um body meta scabs
6459s was a top tier hero back then initially
6461s just because of the way that weaving in
6463s a two mana hero power to early curves
6465s works um you can do aggro curve on this
6468s turn for example if you find any economy
6470s unit in your first two shops or your
6472s opponent's board or you can just solve
6475s that magical problem of pick up a tempo
6477s minion on term one level to two
6480s then what do you do on two with five
6482s gold right that's always the eternal
6483s problems one of the most difficult turns
6484s to navigate in the game i think um when
6487s you have scabs hero power that's just
6488s not an issue right because you can
6490s always just hear a power and buy a
6491s minion
6492s that's
6493s great for scabs overall but more
6496s importantly just getting to press a
6498s button and having a three out of seven
6500s chance to get an officer every single
6502s turn for the for the late game is just
6505s insane and it's very hard to be able to
6507s cope with that on the other side um
6509s because for example
6511s tess buying one of this costs four gold
6514s over the over the course of a turn right
6516s one to roll three then to buy the
6517s officer if you buy two minions then that
6519s one gold hero power is split between the
6521s two minions that you bought but scabs
6523s just goes uh two mana okay there it is
6525s cool i'm done moving on with my life um
6528s so i think scabs in particular is just
6530s one of the absolute best heroes in the
6532s game right now
6534s and already looking here from beaufort
6535s has the up option for the triple
6539s michelle here he could just level
6541s even maybe use the coin to buy something
6544s else if he wants to just push out this
6545s greed or do you think it's uh too greedy
6548s there and instead like level coinbind
6550s now could be worthwhile to just get
6552s triple into three
6554s i think leaving it in the shop is
6556s absolutely fine he's mutinous so i
6559s expect he will be okay for early tempo

6602s gonna be a little bit greedier than

6616s right he's going up against scabs

6623s maybe he'd look at putting it on the
6625s wind fury but i think because he isn't
6627s this might be just overall a little bit
6629s better to just because i think it's
6631s likely the 4-1 is gonna kill a couple of
6634s things at this point in the uh in the

6636s and i think very specifically if xo were
6639s to mouse over scabs right now i believe
6640s he would see naga three based on the
6643s previous turn of what scabs had naga
6646s three this early means your opponent has
6648s three minions with three attack very
6650s commonly right three one and the one
6652s three which is essentially a three three
6654s because you pump it with its own
6655s spellcraft spell which means four one
6657s divine shield kills two of those things
6659s four four kills two of those things and
6662s which will enable very nice trades for
6664s him across the board and there you see
6665s that exact situation panning out however
6668s 4-1 pop-bot has come along to play

6841s the time the correct thing to do is to

6853s that's when you can kind of fall back on
6854s these old-fashioned tempo lines but
6856s still taking a five there is a a big
6859s deviation for me i do enjoy it's like

6863s go max screed and go for the powerhouse
6865s late gameplays yeah yeah you really want
6867s to get to six and you know get into
6868s those six costs okay how do i play if i
6870s want to play like tempo and aggro and
6872s beat people up yeah you really want to
6874s get to six and get in those six drops
6876s it's just that's the thing there's an
6878s entire dynamic that we haven't even
6880s really talked about because i think
6882s we've been minus beasts all three
6884s lobbies so far which is when i talk
6886s about like the tempo scams and what you
6887s can do with mantid queen or leroy or
6890s whatever else sephin divine shield blah
6893s blah blah
6894s ghast coiler scam is another thing that
6896s factors into that that you absolutely
6898s can do to people that just hasn't really
6900s been a factor because beasts have been
6902s out so much but again that involves
6904s going to six to find gas coilers um the
6907s if you haven't played that much if this
6908s thought hasn't dawned on you just yet
6910s gas coiler got a colossal buff in this
6913s patch because leroy jenkins is now added
6916s to the pool as a deathrattle minion
6918s which means particularly
6920s if you are in lobbies where mechs are
6922s out and demons are out for example you
6925s then have a very limited pool of death
6927s rattles and one of them is leroy which
6930s means
6931s coilers golden gas coilers reborn gas
6934s coilers just spit out leroy jenkins with
6937s an absolutely unfair level of
6940s consistency could really scam your
6942s opponent in a lot of positions but just
6943s like i said just not a dynamic that
6945s we've seen because beasts have been
6946s banned so often and unfortunately for
6948s beaufort he does get his triple into a
6950s six but
6951s they're not the best are they um no
6954s does he look at the genie here just to
6957s be able to
6958s break
6960s and and just just have something that
6961s does something on the board like as
6963s opposed to like little rag feels a bit
6965s pointless the other one i would query is
6968s zap whether that's just worthwhile
6970s because of its uh uh what it can do just
6972s peel away a couple of smaller minions
6974s maybe save yourself some health if you
6976s are going to lose the fight
6978s i think i like the zap overall it's just
6980s the biggest stat stick you know it's the
6982s most well i mean it's arguably very
6985s close in terms of overall tempo between
6987s that and the genie right now
6988s um but also he's mutinous right so just
6991s having the biggest individual numbers on
6993s his things is somewhat interesting
6996s um but yeah i think overall any six drop
6998s that doesn't say nagar on it there was
7000s going to be a pretty big whiff for
7002s okay
7005s the worst minion together thrown out by
7007s the genie
7009s still though going to take a lot of
7012s damage
7015s and it's gonna be a scrap here to avoid
7016s an eighth because that'll be the
7018s disaster in the position that he's in
7019s he's the gatekeeper right he's the

7022s so hitting an eighth here would be an
7025s absolute disaster because it opens those
7027s gates extra wide for anyone that wants
7030s to waltz on through into that fourth

7043s domo yeah and just with you and if you
7046s can just force the stats onto it oh
7048s that's a lot of stats he could have made
7050s because is this turns worth of buying
7053s things going to actually stabilize him i
7055s mean he does have the elementals so he
7058s can probably buff the cyclone i think
7060s he's going to go for with the bear the
7062s major domo but
7064s oh i think that was a way to just
7066s survive a couple of turns and maybe
7068s survive a couple of players as well
7071s he's got the absolute worst opponent
7074s this turn as well he's at eight
7077s janice on the other side on daryl
7079s is going to be strong right daryl is
7082s very strong at this point of the game
7083s but he's going to do very little damage
7085s because he's a derral and is probably
7087s down on lower tiers yes still down on
7089s tavern three right now is gianna say
7091s yeah he will do a small amount of damage
7094s to most people he fights right now the
7096s one thing beaufort can't afford is to
7098s take a small amount of damage this is
7100s the worst opponent and i should have
7103s hated his position as we look at the
7104s board he does have a four drop and three
7106s drop that are on relatively high stats
7109s so have a chance of living and if they
7111s live even though he is on tavern tier
7113s three you know there's a chance that he
7116s does just kill him here and it's going
7118s to be brutal for both as you said it's
7119s like the one thing he didn't want to
7121s happen is just be exactly eighth this
7123s turn at this game

7237s these players on you know huge naga huge
7241s daryl mutinous stuff like that and then

7250s feeling at least fairly comfortable but

7363s it didn't look too far away at all gonna
7365s get the second glow scale down get that
7367s extra divine shield whether he leaves
7368s close scale on the board is another
7371s question
7378s well this is like a desperation play
7380s isn't it this is just please don't die

7390s unfortunately opponent

7396s weird positioning obviously um
7399s pirate first does make sense in that
7401s position because it's kind of there for
7403s that function to kind of boost things
7404s early as now we see alucard going down
7406s to rogers zephyrus as well but the fact
7409s that you kind of put the eliza up front
7411s as a bumper then into the leroy was then
7414s making the leroy weaker as well right
7416s because you're expecting your first two
7418s attacks to go into a glow scale
7423s when alucard died i was staring at the
7425s scoreboard like okay sjmr like quickly
7428s followed to zero it never happened he
7431s must have drew he did get have divine
7433s shield poison on the seven i imagine
7435s that's what went on uh but still the
7437s fact he survived is huge that is a
7439s significant gain uh in in points
7442s honestly because he doesn't have to
7444s share them with alucard now
7446s absolutely absurd
7449s desperation play paid off that all you
7452s ever need is just give me one more turn
7453s let me survive one more turn but i do
7456s think there is a large gap at least for
7458s me between sjmr and the rest of the
7460s lobby right now they're alive the gap is
7463s ridiculous i think fifth is where it was
7465s almost always going to end first gmail
7467s yeah but i mean sjm are on 3.5 right
7470s beaufort on 8.5 it's going to be a still
7473s a long climb for sjmr to get into a
7476s position where he's leapfrogging
7477s beaufort let alone the fact that it
7480s looks like uh roger who started this
7483s point five points behind him is going to
7486s win this lobby right so i do think
7488s sjmr's position is
7490s very underwhelming right now overall
7492s despite what uh could have been a
7494s potential scam there if that eliza ended
7497s up like changing a break point in that
7498s fight to where like he exactly survived
7501s genius and take my hat

7526s though that is a ton of passive scaling

7530s siren and the regular siren gorgeous how
7532s hard that pumped very even looking board
7536s states i think these divine shield
7537s trades are going to be the big deal and
7538s those were huge from zik so value trades
7542s as well on the orgazoa yup just enough
7545s in the end again i would imagine that
7547s was somewhere fairly close to a 50-50
7550s fight those mid-game attacks with the
7552s divine shields i think were the defining
7553s factor there and it looked like xo got
7555s just slightly the better of it
7558s yeah also really crazy sort of end state
7561s as sjmr does go out of course they're
7563s kind of expectedly so uh but look at
7565s this end state right roger started this
7568s on three points going into this looking
7570s very strong to win right now as sort of
7572s just giggling away how strong this turn
7574s is but then we had six so uh zixo on six
7578s so yeah six oh um going in there he's
7581s looking very strong indeed to be in
7583s contention and then janice and sal king
7586s who are very close together on nine and
7588s ten points also still in the lobby so
7591s there's a chance even that like alucard
7593s can actually be pushed out here with his
7595s like sixth place
7596s imagine roger turning down the giga
7599s cleave there like come on i've been
7600s talking about it all day so far you had
7602s the perfect opportunity to just dump
7604s every spell craft you have onto a
7606s magnetic minion chuck it on the faux
7608s reaper use it to fill that last space on
7610s your board i don't think it's optimal i
7612s just think basically whatever roger does
7614s from this position he's going to win the
7615s lobby so it would have been nice to see

7717s people to die and he has done so
7719s perfectly two hp to play with top four
7722s secured and top four in this lobby

7728s overall secured i believe as well going
7730s through now into tomorrow also funnily
7732s enough he's going against six so right
7734s so the the most beatable of opponents
7737s that are left i think so there's just
7740s there's a small chance you could even
7741s convert this into a third it's a small
7743s chance i will say that but still it's
7745s better than facing uh
7747s the murderer zephyrus right now who is
7749s just dispatching everyone
7751s yeah but uh this the results of this
7754s have already spelled disaster for
7756s beaufort they're with that top eight
7757s there's too many players i believe that
7758s have overtaken beaufort already zixo for
7761s example starting this lobby on six
7762s points he's now made top four as well

7768s he's looking like the most uh likely
7771s lobby winner so there are a few spaces

7779s uh no chance of making it from this

7858s where you just start buying leroys and
7860s mounted queens and so on forget about
7862s scaling your naga as much because you're
7864s never going to match that level of
7866s scaling from the zephyrus that you just
7868s saw there in snapshot from roger so
7870s finding creative solutions um with the
7874s poison scam with the reborn gas coilers
7877s with the giga cleaves whatever it is
7878s that you end up going for to try and
7880s find some creative solution you really
7882s do have to find those creative solutions
7885s because you can't
7886s just magically catch up in stats to what
7889s roger is doing on the other side
7894s and we're just roger versus dixon now
7896s and last time they fought roger just uh
7898s dumpstered him i believe and did all the
7900s damage to bring him down to three i
7902s imagine the same thing's gonna happen
7904s again because uh just looking at this
7906s board from six so he does not have the
7909s scan potential right he doesn't have the
7910s leroys he doesn't have the mantids to
7912s try and do something uh creative he
7915s doesn't have a ghoul maybe for the
7917s divine shields and stuff like that so it
7919s looks like he's just gonna put on his
7921s best attack to stack as many stats as
7923s possible but i think this might be a
7925s done deal in there zephyrus
7928s i do think is a very very strong hero in
7930s this meta because tripling to these
7931s power plays is so huge and there are so
7934s many of them of course there's always
7936s better ones but there's so many triples
7938s especially within naga that can make a
7941s big impact into the yeah the outcome of
7943s the game right even early on from say
7945s like siren right if you triple an early
7946s siren it's like huge i mean certainly if
7951s zephyrus gets there it's one of the best
7954s in the absolute late game state because
7956s one of the problems that you can run
7958s into in the late game
7960s is board space issues right you want to
7963s keep double orgasm because it's
7964s providing you so much value with your
7966s gold and siren right so you want to keep
7967s them both hanging around but you can't
7969s afford the two board spaces same thing
7971s with double efficient obviously you're
7973s never ever ever just going to dump out
7975s an officer and get rid of it but the
7976s fact that both they're eating our board
7978s spaces means less sirens means less
7980s spellcraft being generated at the end of
7982s the game so just the ability to at will
7985s combine those things into one is such a
7987s big deal on zephyrus and you may notice
7989s totally ignored the fight because it was
7990s a foregone conclusion i told you roger
7992s was going to win that lobby eight turns
7994s ago it was it was a given at that point
7997s golden orgasoa golden officer at that
8000s point that is peak scaling when you
8003s combine that with siren everything else
8004s that is the package that you want to go
8006s for and roger did exactly what he needed
8009s to do but in the end those extra few
8012s points from zixo finding his way into
8015s second place meant that it was all in
8018s vain and you can see jana say alucard
8022s sal king and zixo
8024s holding down those top four spots roger
8027s went out with a bang he gave all his
8029s fans a great showing with that zephyrus
8031s game at the end but the way the other
8033s placings broke down were just extra
8036s cruel to him i i will say as well very
8040s impressed with the nsa's play so far
8042s obviously one first lobby did you know
8045s not so well in the second lobby but just
8046s the approach to the the overall like
8048s meta game of the three lobby the
8051s three-game sample size
8052s is um
8054s was really impressive and i think he's
8055s just play play in general uh was pretty
8058s standout across all these players at
8060s least for me so
8061s yeah i think certainly
8063s he's had a very good grip on tournament
8066s play right what it means in different
8068s scenarios how your play needs to be
8070s changed how your picks how your choices
8072s how everything changes based on the
8074s context of the tournament
8076s and that's a whole other layer beyond
8079s normal battlegrounds adaptation right
8081s which is am i strong who's my opponent
8084s what are they showing as all of these
8086s things that are factors that can
8087s contextually change how you react to a
8090s given situation when you play in a
8092s tournament there's a whole other layer
8093s thrown on top of that and i think the
8095s nsa has done a great job of adapting to
8097s it yes he was put in a position early
8099s which allowed him to do that but having
8101s been put in that position he's executed
8103s perfectly which is all you can ask from
8105s a player at this point yeah and
8106s unfortunate you know i know there are a
8108s lot of beaufort fans out there but
8111s you know we saw that turn there and he
8112s just couldn't get to grips with the
8114s mutinous couldn't survive eight damage
8116s went into face and that was still
8118s looking at that fight at the point we
8120s cut away and just being like
8122s so the 710 had to have attacked the
8124s seven eight on the right hand side
8126s exactly next i believe to take a value
8128s trade because even with the divine
8129s shield poison i think he was a minion
8131s short unless he found one more value
8133s trade in that position crazy i really
8136s just know it happened yeah that's it
8139s but yeah congratulations to roger i'm
8141s winning that lobby uh but unfortunately
8143s falling just short as six so swoops in
8145s there with the second place which put
8147s him in enough points to be able to go
8149s through there so already so
8151s we are done for the first lobby of the
8154s day the first set of eight players uh
8156s what have you made of it so far uh the
8158s players we've got the the play we've
8160s seen i'm guessing you you the the meta
8163s we've seen develop over the course of
8164s this very few three games is pretty much
8167s what you expected to see going in at the
8168s start of the show
8170s yeah largely what was predicted i did of
8172s course throw out that caveat that you
8174s know we expected to see a particular
8176s meta in hgi for example and it didn't
8179s end up panning out i do think that just
8182s the overwhelming strength like
8184s naga as in like an optimal order
8186s strategy is way above what tavern for
8189s milkers was as an optimal order strategy
8192s in that meta game right so
8194s what then has to be worth as a payoff in
8196s terms of like risk reward tables and
8197s calculations to be able to punish that
8199s on the other side is so much higher and
8201s that doesn't exist right you you need
8203s somehow
8204s 20 board spaces and six meccano tanks to
8207s be able to actually tempo out against
8210s what nagas can do on the other side so
8212s this is kind of where we're at naga are
8214s incredibly strong at the moment you have
8216s to shoot for them but i do still think
8219s some of these players that found their
8220s way into top four they have understood
8223s the assignment right which is really the
8224s first box that you have to take you need
8226s to do both things you need to understand
8229s how to optimize
8231s the the naga board the naga warband and
8233s how to actually beat other opponents
8236s doing the same thing as optimally as
8238s possible you have to understand how to
8240s turn seventh into sixth how to turn
8242s sixth into fifth how to turn fifth into
8244s fourth when you are not the player doing
8247s that and that's where i think you know
8248s doing that together to get top four to
8250s go through to sunday and then when we
8252s get to sunday to be the eventual winner
8254s that's the skill set that we're gonna
8256s need from these players especially when
8258s we get into check format where both
8260s things become crucial right finding a
8263s seventh just picking up one point to get
8265s over that 20 point threshold or whatever
8267s it ends up being that's a crucial skill
8269s that you might have to have and then of
8270s course with the way check format works
8272s picking up that lobby win at the end
8275s that's a crucial part of the puzzle as
8276s well so we will need to see players
8278s demonstrate all those uh tools in their
8281s arsenal as we get through to sunday but
8283s i think already the players that we've
8284s gone through in top four you look at
8286s some of the scrappy games xo had early
8288s on followed up by just finally hitting
8290s the nagas and getting second right like
8292s you do really have to find both sides of
8294s the coin and congratulations to the

8945s to play out and i'm excited for this to
8948s start already seoul because we had a
8950s pretty crazy set of three games
8952s beforehand uh with people just just
8954s dipping into that top four at the last
8956s possible moment and i wonder what we're
8958s gonna see this time around there one
8960s thing i guess is naga but other than
8962s that i'm excited to see how close these
8964s players can make it once again
8966s and the other thing is spell no wrong
8969s format no i mean kind of still in
8971s battleground
8972s naga spell margaret spell kind of still
8975s works uh yeah i mean personally the
8977s number one thing i'm looking for outside
8979s of just taking a look at our new field
8981s of players
8982s uh we do have of course uh all dragon in
8985s there who is a former rank one holder i
8988s believe on multiple occasions babofat
8990s who has really taken to lobby legends
8993s like a fish to water i would say um
8996s both in picking up those those ladder
8998s finishes on the grind but then also just
9000s you know being very successful in
9002s getting through to these positions
9003s overall
9004s um and then you know a few other players
9006s i'm excited to be looking at for the
9008s first time myself i think max 7k was in
9011s the previous lobby legends as well right
9012s so uh we do have a few returning players
9014s kind of what we're talking about at the
9015s start of the day where i expect you know
9017s this is only the second lobby legends so
9020s far but i expect you know all these
9022s names all these faces at least a good
9024s chunk of them i think will become
9027s regulars to the lobby legends circuit i
9029s have no doubts at all about that but
9031s yeah i'm excited to get going maybe we
9033s see a few more beasts than we saw in the
9036s last three games so we saw a a big lack
9039s of them so far maybe see if there's any
9040s of these at least either beast comps or
9042s as you were talking about 6o's missed
9045s potential of being offered shudder and
9047s not having beasts in the in the game uh
9049s which is obviously is not necessarily
9051s about beasts but involves them very
9053s heavily at least in the early game
9055s yeah i think shadow walk as i was just
9057s saying to you in the break i think
9058s shadow walk with the right types in
9061s is the best first place hero in the
9063s entire game if you get pirates and naga
9066s obviously because they're in
9067s automatically and beasts thrown in there
9070s their ability to find the tokens for the
9072s triples the uh swabbies for the tavern
9074s discounts and then obviously the the
9076s coins from the naga as well
9078s you can
9080s almost i'd say reliably consistently
9082s obviously these are dirty words because
9084s it doesn't happen everywhere
9086s yeah but you can consistently
9088s get multiple six drops on turn six with
9091s the right tavern set up and we just
9092s haven't really seen that zigzag being
9094s offered it twice with no beast is just
9096s kind of troll overall but i do think
9098s beasts are kind of the missing piece of
9100s the puzzle in terms of how this is going
9102s to work we have seen mech lobbies we
9105s haven't seen in my opinion players take
9107s enough advantage of what mechs can do in
9109s this format with spellcraft with cleaves
9111s or amalgadon just being able to get
9113s absolutely massive and kind of get extra
9115s free divine shields by abusing the
9117s magnetic mechanic we haven't seen that
9119s so i would still like to see that come
9120s into play but i do still personally feel
9123s like beasts are the missing piece of the
9124s puzzle overall in terms of finding ways
9127s to potentially fight back against this
9130s however
9130s here we are again raven beasts are
9133s banned
9135s and already seen multiple players with
9137s sets of good heroes i think it was
9139s baroff as jara uh for coyomi and then we
9143s had reform and
9145s uh vol'jin for all dragon there so
9148s multiple players i i would say having
9150s very high to uh being offered more than
9152s one height to hero but for start off we
9155s are going to check out what orov is
9157s doing on the cat subtle now
9160s uh how does this hero fare in the
9163s current meta because it was very
9165s different in the body meta than it has
9167s been in you know previous uh uh i guess
9170s i'm gonna say meta again of uh
9172s battlegrounds
9174s yeah i mean my argument will be same as
9176s it always has some people will tell you
9178s it's okay some people will tell you it's
9179s the worst hero in the game the truth is
9181s somewhere in the middle of that you're
9183s right to point to the body meta because
9185s in the body meta they had an extra tool
9187s which gave them a little bit of tempo
9188s every turn which was lovely right
9190s because the problem with cat is that you
9192s are trying to outlast people who have
9194s hero powers with no hero power and that
9197s just doesn't work because they're better
9200s than you because they have a hero power
9202s and you don't um so the amount of cat
9204s dies first is just very very high
9206s overall during the body meta you had a
9208s tool that gave you a little bit of extra
9209s tempo and allowed you to potentially
9211s just have bigger boards than your
9212s opponent on average with that taken away
9214s personally i am not a big cat fan
9217s overall so i am surprised to see that
9219s picked up there was a
9220s uh milhouse offered on the other side
9223s which i don't think is necessarily
9225s premium with the minion type makeup that
9227s we have right now um but was certainly
9230s something worth considering but i can
9231s certainly understand that if you're just
9232s looking to kick things off with a first
9234s then maybe cat is just the thing to go
9236s for to if you can outlast those first
9239s two players maybe then you are good to
9241s go because there is a tendency for
9244s players to hit a triple into a six and
9247s then die in this meta immediately right
9249s and then die with that six drop on their
9251s board that you can pick up the next turn
9253s oh no
9255s the mug of doom and also i do just want
9258s to see as we see uh battlefield
9259s obviously take a bit of damage there
9261s from york and max 7k on yog a very nice
9266s hero i've found in this meta so far
9268s because yes you don't specifically get
9271s to choose minions for the most part in
9273s the early game but all your minions are
9275s just big enough to let you level very
9277s comfortably and if you do hit the good
9280s minions hit the good naga it's even
9282s better because you're actually just
9283s beating out other players who also hit
9285s the good stuff
9288s joining uh on ashara
9293s decent start in terms of tempo showing
9297s eight on turn three is reasonable i
9300s suppose however uh this is a dragon's
9303s inn lobby so once again kyomi would have
9306s been looking for that chroma wing start
9307s but has not found it here so it's just
9309s having to do plan b uh i do think it's
9312s nice to avoid the trap though i think i
9313s did try this obviously you're very
9315s focused on finding those chroma wings
9317s early um so i did also try just staying
9320s on one and rolling for chroma wing um
9323s but i think that does cause you to fall
9324s too far behind i think staying on one
9326s needs to have an incredibly good reason
9329s for doing it in this meta game i don't
9331s think that's enough so i do like that
9333s he's avoiding that bait he looks at his
9335s first shot probably looks at his second
9337s shot as well before the level if there
9339s was no chroma wing in either of those
9340s two shops you just level up and get on
9342s with your life
9343s we are going to see daryl now which is
9344s not appearing on the overlay so we
9346s apologize about that but basically the
9348s missing space is daryl and we're going
9351s to see what dancing can be achieved
9353s although it's like a really weird board
9355s now with just uh yeah it's just a just a
9358s wide board it's all buffed up a little
9360s bit yeah seems good
9361s yeah mechs band which cuts some of the
9364s reason to stay on one for daryl even a
9367s little bit there is still of course
9368s trickster um but i would say trickster
9371s just doesn't really offer as much as it
9373s used to with the type of late game
9375s boards that you're facing against
9376s because people are either going to go
9379s massive divine shields or they're going
9381s to go with uh poison scam right and
9384s trickster loses to both of those things
9386s so i think what he's going to be looking
9388s at more
9389s is going up to find some divine shields
9392s of his own to dance on to be able to
9393s compete with this board state and as
9395s larinder is now pointing out to us he
9396s did in fact see a trickster in his very
9398s first shop and uh chose not to keep it
9400s which as i said just makes sense to me i
9402s just don't think trickster
9404s what used to be one of the very best
9406s derral targets especially in no murloc
9408s lobbies really makes that much sense
9410s anymore because
9411s leroy manted queen murlocs are in in
9415s this lobby as well so you know the
9416s ability for you to just get poison
9418s scanned out of existence is just way too
9420s high i think
9421s also just naga's being probably bigger
9423s anyway
9430s apparently you know dragon with the
9432s rough arm oh
9434s no
9435s about to be in awe at the size of this
9436s dragon raven look at it it's gonna be so
9439s big
9440s really is and even though the health
9442s won't be there just trading it's sort of
9445s confirmed one for one and obviously
9446s having the triple now for our dragon for
9448s next turn and maybe doesn't even choose
9450s it next turn it's to be a
9453s interesting right if you have a question
9456s go on

9626s which is best case scenario for cat
9628s right that's that exact scenario i'm
9630s talking about where if he takes damage
9633s here which it looks like is possible
9636s that is a bronze warden on the other
9637s side of the board which represents a lot
9639s of combat power so if he takes damage
9642s here he's kind of locked himself into
9643s tripling in a six so if he then loses
9646s the next fight as well he then hands the
9648s cat that tripled six drop that he's
9650s worked so hard for and he is going to
9653s take damage here yeah
9656s huge i think there was a way he could
9657s have gotten away with a draw there
9659s but just didn't the trades didn't quite
9661s line up and yeah drops him down to 11.
9664s now all bets are off for sisyphus
9666s match up rng here is massive gets the

9670s who taking a brief look at things
9674s looks very beatable i'm talking just
9677s from sisyphus's perspective he will be
9679s looking at a tavern for yog who is

9686s which i think is a very reassuring thing

9689s in this position and boom there is the
9691s atheista i think sisyphus is now well
9694s now that he's hit the officer he will
9696s almost certainly get away with this from
9697s this spot because that is way too much
9700s spellcraft that is the full four naga
9702s that he can now be buffing up as well
9704s he's in very very good shape all of a
9706s sudden it looks like he is gonna milk
9708s some extra value as well very rarely
9711s seen i do think that is one of the uh
9714s weaker naga in the game overall the
9716s milker for the spellcraft but looks like
9718s since uh that's what sisyphus has he's
9720s going to lean into it a little bit this
9721s time yeah old dragon is going to be
9723s going up against uh babafat and
9725s currently babafat's on like a mixture of
9728s pirates and demons here just the two
9730s pirate taunts in there a selection of
9733s demons so far so the reform hero power
9736s won't really pay off for him which is
9738s why i imagine he won't bother pressing
9740s it at this point because guess what his
9741s opponent isn't naga
9744s so this is interesting uh when you have
9746s critter wrangler
9747s which targets you choose to use your
9749s spellcrafts on
9751s say a lot about your game plan right
9753s because you're going to want to use them
9755s on the minions that you most likely want
9757s to keep because it's actually getting a
9759s permanent buff from the critter wrangler
9760s at that point so the fact that the
9762s answer to that question for all dragon
9764s was the critter wrangler there was
9765s actually quite interesting in terms of
9767s which minion he sees as the biggest like
9769s long-term investment in his boards
9771s and i i'm 100 agree actually because he
9774s has no other like scaling other than the
9777s wrangler so even though it's not the uh
9780s officer
9781s it's then it's to me almost the next
9783s best thing right because it still gives
9785s permanent stats um so i i do like that
9788s choice overall
9791s this is a daryl that tripled into a six
9793s things have happened here raven this is
9795s new
9798s doesn't want to dance
9799s doesn't want to dance at all
9810s you just may have seen in the bottom
9811s corner there sisyphus taking the level
9813s to six very common pattern right you

9818s and if you hit you can then get strong

10076s can't just sit on them and say well this

10080s will need to transfer out here but we

10087s makes an attempt to guess what survive
10090s another turn but it's looking all right
10092s actually right the golden siren yeah the
10094s multiple divine shields that are
10096s available there's a shull commander buff
10097s to drop on the lava if he wants it
10101s i think are off might just be a dead cat

10112s a ton of passive scaling from the golden

10127s regardless it's going to be a million
10129s extra stats dumped on the board at the
10131s end of the turn and i think cap might
10133s just struggle to compete with this and
10135s this could be make or break i think if
10138s orov survives this fight he might be in
10140s a good spot with the type of player that
10142s will start dying soon
10144s but if he goes down here in seventh
10145s having just picked up one shoal
10147s commander for his trouble then that will
10149s not be what he's been looking for

10179s one of those plays where i think that
10181s only happened because of his health i
10183s think if he was higher he would have
10184s kept the shoal commander started
10186s stacking buffs helped out with uh

10189s this as well so like i think that just
10191s goes to show that he is playing to
10192s survive right now and already banked at
10195s worst a sixth place
10197s and potentially better because um max 7k
10200s one health uh dappy doe uh four health
10204s like even first who's managed to
10206s stick around for a while on a relatively
10207s low health as well like all four of
10210s these players below first and second are
10212s in massive danger of just like more or
10214s less if they do lose a fight they are
10216s gone so they'll definitely be scrapping
10218s it for this one and it looks like uh
10221s dapido is gonna be versus max 7k this
10224s turn so unless it's exactly a draw one
10228s of them is going to knock the other one
10229s out and knock them into a likely sixth
10231s or joint fifth sixth place
10234s uh i like what dappy's doing here
10237s is going for the poison scam as heavily
10239s as possible
10240s we'll look for as many divine shields as
10242s possible to support this he does have
10243s one divine shield spellcraft in hand
10245s already the problem is is that with this
10248s board state i really like having a big
10251s cleave to support this he does have wind
10254s fury spellcraft generating off the
10255s golden which would be ideal as well if
10257s you can pick it up unfortunately look at
10259s the lobby no beast no mechs right so
10262s finding the actual
10263s minion that's gonna two for one or three
10265s for one the opponent is a little bit
10267s difficult in this spot which means you
10269s might just be doomed to failure i like
10271s the voidlord idea that's just deathrall
10274s taunt we've talked about before how
10277s big boards tend to have aggressive
10278s divine shield minion going first so by
10280s having void lord in play you give
10282s yourself the chance to
10283s maybe pop two divine shields off your
10285s opponent but that is just not what the
10287s yogg is showing on the other side just
10290s love the ghoul as well here from uh max
10292s 7k right the girl actually knocking off
10294s the divine shield that the mantid got
10296s the mantid does get the double trade
10298s anyway so that is a huge deal double
10301s seven gonna pop off now

10304s oh no the vt the vt spells death going
10309s into the non-poisoned minion and that
10311s means that yog is going to be the one to
10313s survive here dappy goes down

10327s there's certainly no real future in this
10329s game at least for babofat so that all of
10332s those players now eliminated from top

10336s particular game i have watched babo
10339s stream a little bit in this meta he is
10342s frustrated let's say at the uh you know
10345s the way the game pans out right now some
10347s people are you're really enjoying just
10349s having the sort of linear win condition
10351s that you have to play towards uh babo
10353s has certainly been letting his
10354s frustrations show a little bit on stream
10356s and i do think you know sometimes can't
10358s help but bleed through into its play
10360s however i will say the player who i said
10362s i thought had a great mentality to the
10364s patch uh beaufort didn't really work out
10366s too well for him either in the last
10368s round didn't it what i will say though
10369s is what a huge outcome for the likes of
10373s max beyonce and first right or
10376s dragon fought babble fat the two
10378s strongest healthiest players and all
10380s dragon killed babo which boosted all the
10383s players that could die if anyone even
10385s looks at them funny like boosted them up
10387s a whole place for like for free which is
10390s absolutely insane for this first game
10392s here yeah in terms of the points and max
10395s now continuing to go on this uh again
10398s swap into this poison comp and trying to
10400s just do everything he can to just gain
10403s one extra place get that one extra point
10405s because we've seen an impact or the
10407s level of impact one or two extra points
10409s over the course of three games can make
10411s it's the difference between top four and
10413s not potentially
10415s better
10416s yeah keeping the goal the ghoul is
10418s mandatory here with the amount of divine
10420s shield that naga throw at you on the
10421s other side
10423s leroy follow up you do again have that
10425s problem where if you're going to remove
10428s your opponent's divine shields leroy
10430s isn't as good as it might otherwise be
10432s one of the big strengths of leroy and
10434s why it's sometimes better than a poison
10435s minion is it just straight up kills
10437s divine shield minions but you can see
10439s with the kind of combat rhythm there
10441s you're always going to get rid of those
10442s divine shields first which means leroy
10444s is just kind of another vanilla
10446s poisonous minion at that point and one
10448s for running with poison just is never
10450s going to get the job done because at the
10452s end of the day you have to have a ghoul
10454s and an acolyte on your board so if
10456s you're one for one in your opponent you
10457s only get to do it five times as it just
10460s doesn't end up working out in that spot
10462s naga will always be the king in that
10465s spot uh poison scam has to play from
10467s behind daryl goes down in third as well
10469s and as expected it is going to be all
10471s dragon and sisyphus
10474s uh kicking things off and it looks like
10476s sisyphus is going to start a little bit
10478s better than uh might have been expected
10480s he is certainly not going to be cursed
10483s with an uphill battle in this lobby it
10485s seems yeah and i think for hanse and max
10488s 7
10489s sharing third fourth that's a really
10491s good outcome for this game i think
10492s they'll be feeling very fortunate to
10494s have gained those points especially when
10496s babo was looking so good and even some
10498s of the other players early on were
10500s looking a lot stronger overall but now i
10502s think while all dragons popping off
10504s first is trying to catch up and
10507s whether he can catch up is a big
10508s question because he does have obviously
10511s some pretty heavy scale in naga but it
10513s looks like the majority of them or at
10516s least half of them haven't been scaling
10517s for that long there's nothing really
10520s huge there's not multiple divine shields
10522s uh but you know who knows at this point
10524s you might be swapping over to mantid and
10527s leroy to fill these spots to just say
10528s yeah i don't have a lot of scaling naga
10531s but i do have some insta kill minions
10536s certainly a ton of divine shields as
10538s well is going to throw a divine shield
10541s onto the mounted queen there is of
10543s course the argument that you can have
10545s that you can invest that divine shield
10546s somewhere else and just you know roll
10548s the divine shield on mounted queen
10550s anyway especially if you're having
10551s access to the wind fury already but
10554s certainly the the safe line here does
10555s make a lot of sense for the amount of
10557s value he has an additional divine shield
10558s here would only be going on a 24 attack
10562s minion anyway
10563s more than that after the passive scaling
10565s that we're about to see
10567s after the passive scaling that we're
10569s about to see
10570s um
10571s but still you know not as impactful as
10573s some of these other huge minions
10575s all the cheeky leroy interaction with
10577s the ghoul it is pain upon pain and that
10580s interaction here
10581s and it looks like oh dragon
10584s is just gonna overtake and very quickly
10587s end this game i do think the old dragon
10590s uh babble fat fight uh really shaped the
10593s ending of this game right no one else
10595s would have any potential of keeping up
10597s with all dragon all dragon then killed
10599s the other person who could have at least
10601s survived longer if he got matched
10603s against different players because i do
10605s think baba fat was strong but just not
10607s in comparison to exactly all dragon
10609s there so really good win for him there
10612s and honestly
10613s for most players apart from babo fat any
10616s of that top four finish i think a very
10618s fortunate outcome uh as i said for max
10621s and m and say that i think that was a
10623s really good outcome to just grab 4.5
10626s points when they were sat on i think
10628s like two and four health or something
10630s from multiple turns of this game
10633s yeah i think as the players in this
10635s lobby
10636s saw who was dying they would have been
10639s very thankful right there are certain
10641s heroes that die at certain points where
10643s the entire lobby throws up a collective
10645s cheer right like
10646s if a test dies early everyone celebrates
10650s if an ashara dies early everyone
10652s celebrates if a cat dies early everyone
10655s celebrates these are heroes that you
10657s want to see go down because they solve
10659s problems for you in the late game and
10662s particularly when you're one of the
10663s players not having a great game you know
10665s we talk about baba fat yeah he was
10667s numerically strong at the point he died
10670s but he was demons with felbat and an
10673s imbalance right like that that has no
10675s future it's not going anywhere it's
10677s going to get killed by naga at some
10679s point during the game it just so
10680s happened it was a little bit earlier
10682s than he would have hoped but when you're
10683s in that kind of position that kind of
10685s player watching the ashara the cat
10688s whatever it is just dying early that
10691s makes you so happy because you're
10693s scamming extra places that you weren't
10695s supposed to if that ashara had lasted
10698s one more turn if the cat had outlasted
10700s one or two more players suddenly they're
10702s monsters in the late game as well um so
10704s yeah just good matchup rng for the
10707s players who survived the couple of extra
10709s spaces in that position but at the same
10711s time good decision making from those
10713s players as we see here just kind of guy
10715s going for those poison scam high tempo
10717s balls
10719s you are seeing to grind them out those
10721s extra spots and and i think for me at
10723s least you know learning uh when i was
10725s learning battlegrounds the that was the
10728s thing i struggled with the most was
10730s knowing exactly when to try and
10733s transition and what to transition to to
10736s give yourself the best chance i think
10738s that is actually just by far the hardest
10740s part of learning the game especially at
10742s a high level because one just being able
10744s to pull off a transition in itself
10746s successfully i think can be quite hard
10748s unless the game is very kind to you but
10750s just the timing and exactly what to go
10752s for at what point and i do think and max
10755s and uh
10757s was it yeah dapido
10759s actually did it very very well this game
10761s even though you know it didn't get them
10763s first second whatever it got them a
10765s solid finish considering how their game
10767s started yeah for sure and so the stall
10770s is now set out uh all dragon and
10772s sisyphus are in the position of command
10775s uh they're in the spot now where maybe
10777s they're the players they're going to be
10778s looking at picking daryl and staying on
10780s tavern three all game and trying to get
10782s uh top fours as we saw from the players
10784s in lab in lobby a uh we will see how
10786s things pan out certainly there is uh
10789s still a grind to go for the the players
10791s who finished in the lower positions and
10793s to kind of make their way through but
10795s the one thing i really want to see now
10798s raven is a freaking beast lobby finally
10801s like come on can we just have one it's
10803s the added dynamic that i think we need
10805s at this point to just shake these last
10806s couple of lobbies up a little bit um
10809s i've talked about gas coiler and the
10810s impact that that can have there's early
10813s uh mama tempo of course that can just
10815s murder a few players before they get
10817s started
10818s some people will argue
10820s that leapers is the answer to this meta
10823s as well and that they are the meta
10824s breaker i personally don't believe in
10827s that i think the amount of stuff that
10828s you have to hit to actually get the good
10830s leapers board has to happen way too
10832s quickly in comparison to what the naga
10835s player has to hit to just immediately be
10837s stronger than you in response right
10839s certainly i have heard the argument and
10840s not just from you raven
10843s in certain positions
10845s uh going leapers does make sense if
10847s you're getting us off uh reno into
10850s golden baron for example that kind of
10852s thing
10852s and then leapers might just be a
10854s solution to the problem if you don't
10856s immediately hit that naga stuff so i am
10858s really rooting for the beast lobby in
10860s our fifth lobby of the day second lobby
10863s of uh groupie

11101s ended up uh making to that top four so
11104s really strong performance from him in
11105s the first set of games from the day but
11107s now we're moving on to the second
11109s and it was only because of xo in seventh
11112s having a better performance that roger
11114s in eighth wasn't the player that was
11116s making the comeback right so it really
11118s does show
11119s uh that
11120s with such a small sample size a big
11123s swing can still happen late as long as
11125s you don't literally go eighth eighth in
11127s the first two lobbies you might have a
11129s chance of bringing it back with uh with
11131s a big seven point win in the final lobby
11133s depending on how the other points break
11134s down certainly unlikely but it can
11136s happen and we got very close to seeing
11138s it happen with roger in that uh initial
11141s grouping but we are now moving into game
11143s number two do you think things have
11146s broken down a very interesting way happy
11147s to see all dragon doing well in the
11149s opening uh sisyphus picking up six
11151s points as well and then of course uh max
11153s and wednesday holding on to the split
11155s for 4.5 those are kind of the players in
11158s possession as it stands right now
11160s they'll be the players you would imagine
11163s looking at the more low-key heroes right
11165s the ones that can stay quiet chug along
11168s find those fourth place finishes but
11170s here's the issue and here's the drum
11172s that i keep banging throughout the
11173s tournament what are those heroes because
11176s to me
11177s the met is divided into two things
11180s you're either going to six and you're
11181s hitting and then you can get top four
11184s or you're not because four players are
11187s in the lobby like you see what i mean
11189s like you have to fight either win
11191s or you lose
11192s i mean it's in europe doesn't sound like
11194s a ravenism but it is also very accurate
11197s um but
11199s the point is if you are going to be like
11200s tempo demons or tempo beasts or whatever
11204s most of the time you are also going to
11205s have to hit combat rng so that you don't
11208s or match up rng so that you don't fight
11211s those power spike players on the power
11212s spike turns so that you can just outlast
11215s long enough as we saw previously
11218s for whoever is absolutely in charge of
11220s the lobby to kill the ashara to kill the
11223s cat right before they get rolling
11225s meanwhile you're dodging those players
11227s and just playing your beasts or your
11228s demons or whatever you're doing if you
11231s actually try and go head-to-head with
11232s the naga with one of those strategies it

11255s literally look at charts that tell you
11257s how often a hero finishes top four right
11260s and what the percentage breakdown of
11261s finishes is so that makes things a
11263s little bit more formulaic over time if
11265s you want to get into that
11266s when the meta is as polarized as it is
11268s right now i think that question gets
11270s harder to answer of like do i just
11273s continue to play the high roll heroes
11275s every lobby and just say that on average
11277s a high roll hero is going to get top
11279s four because they're a high roll hero
11281s right like it's a very weird dynamic to
11282s get into
11284s i think for me because i like to
11285s simplify things for my own sake more
11288s than anything
11289s unless i won the lobby
11292s i think every lobby after that i would
11294s just play to first place i just played
11296s to win it because you look at these as
11298s two players on 4.5 points two plays on
11300s 2.5 points right and even arguably
11303s sisyphus on six i think even at that
11305s point especially because it's lobby two
11307s i think in lobby three you can make a
11310s more informed choice you have a much
11311s clearer picture of what the leaderboard
11313s looks like right but i think for me
11315s unless you're exactly all dragon in this
11318s scenario
11319s i would just
11321s and your heroes are nice to you pick the
11322s hero that you can maybe get first place
11324s with because i think that solves a lot
11326s of issues going into the third and final
11329s game of this set and i think that's the
11332s key make those tricky decisions when you
11334s see exactly what the leaderboard looks
11336s like when you've got a one-game amount
11338s of points to sort of pill for you know
11341s pass out so i do think that for all
11343s these players now except maybe all
11346s dragon uh it is just make the best play
11349s to try and get first go for naga do the
11352s plays you would play on ladder to just
11353s try and get those first places initially
11356s yes if you have to bail out and go
11357s poison all of these players are more
11359s than capable of making that decision and
11361s doing so but i think overall play for
11363s first until you absolutely know you
11366s can't
11367s yeah and i'm glad you hit upon that
11369s point as well because i think that's the
11371s other factor that you throw in here when
11373s you pick a galacroid or a shadow walk or
11376s a jaundice you know something that's
11378s able to just mechanically get a ton of
11379s six drop triples if things line up very
11382s well
11383s if the game's not doing well it's not
11385s like a good player's response to that is
11387s oh well i guess i just stopped trying
11388s then and
11389s get right like you have a plan b
11393s you can bail out you can take fives you
11395s can play the tempo more like there's
11396s different options that you can take if
11398s you recognize that the game is going
11399s badly and then it would be a top eight
11402s if you end up continuing to try and go
11403s for the high roll strategy so there's
11405s still kind of that extra layer of
11407s security that you can throw into those
11408s hyrule heroes as well that you know i
11410s still think they're incredibly valuable
11412s that's not to say that um what was done
11415s with with daryl in the previous lobby in
11417s lobby a
11418s uh didn't make sense because that was
11420s such a secure position right overall it
11423s was done in game three right exactly it
11424s was done in game three which is an
11426s entirely different beast uh or entirely
11428s different mech i suppose with the pup
11430s bots since we aren't seeing beasts
11434s or other minion types as well uh we can
11437s keep going um but

11478s requested a test game just to make sure
11480s everything is stable of course we have a
11482s small sample size of games here so we do
11483s want to ensure that our players all have
11485s the best and most stable connections uh
11488s sometimes that is more difficult for
11489s china players than it is for others so
11491s hopefully we will be able to bring you
11493s some gameplay soon but as of right now
11495s we're just trying to work on some
11496s connection issues and also let's just be
11498s honest just like in standard
11501s if we can reduce the chance of having to
11503s maybe do a re-game halfway through a
11505s game like nobody wants a a re-game at
11508s any point right so we want to make sure
11510s all the players are comfortable their
11511s connections seem to be fine and
11513s everyone's happy before we start that is
11515s the most important thing for these
11518s players because you know
11520s imagine you're doing well it's like oh
11521s we have to regain it's like that was the
11523s lobby i was going to win oh no i just
11526s got my officer um but overall uh from
11530s from what we've seen so far

11535s we talk about what you pick when you're
11536s ahead or when you're comfortable
11539s is that same thought pattern even more
11541s cemented for the players who say at
11544s seventh eighth arguably sixth or you
11546s know in that bottom tier is it even more
11548s so now that they have to pick i'll grab
11550s any hero that can either has a history
11554s of being a first place potential or do
11557s if they're forced into it are they
11559s picking worse heroes but then making
11562s sort of aggressive plays not in terms of
11564s tempo but aggressive in terms of do i
11566s just take damage and spam level and just
11568s try and just hit the hit the goods late
11570s game and win is that the correct
11572s approach or is there anything else these
11574s players that have started off quite
11575s badly can do
11576s no i think they are the ones kind of
11578s more
11580s uh we're talking and talking about it
11581s the other way around i think the players
11583s who are in control who got the first
11585s early result i think what it gives them
11587s more than anything is options and i
11589s think the players who were struggling
11591s and who had a bad initial game in lobby

11595s what they've had is options taking away
11597s from them because now they have to play
11599s for first and second because
11600s particularly if you just got an eighth
11602s immediately you're going to be in
11603s trouble even if you find a fourth and a
11605s fifth right so the
11607s option of going daryl dance on pup bots
11610s has just absolutely taken away from you
11613s which means that you have to go for the
11615s big push but what i will say is that
11617s what making big pushes for first and
11620s second looks like
11621s really isn't that far removed from what
11623s just playing this meta normally looks
11626s like anyway right it is the kind of
11627s thing that you're always trying to do
11629s there's very little debate in these
11632s circles which there normally is are you
11634s supposed to triple into five or four or
11636s six like what's the best time to triple
11638s into whatever on what hero
11641s on what hero in which context with how
11643s much health do you have what does your
11645s board look like what's your gold
11647s interval for the next term what is your
11648s tavern cost this term what does it cost
11650s next turn what does your curve look like
11652s these are all normally questions that
11654s you have to answer which is when a newer
11656s player says oh i'm just tripling into
11658s five or six better this meta the only
11660s answer is it depends normally now it's
11663s six that's just the obvious i love it
11666s yeah if i'm ever wondering what i should
11668s do i see if my tavern level is six or if
11671s i can triple into six if no neither of
11673s those things are true i try and do those
11675s things because generally
11678s it'll it'll serve you well i do believe
11680s that the players are just in the test
11682s game right now so in the meantime while
11684s we just wait to make sure everything's
11685s okay just want to mention that there's a
11687s lot of people co-streaming it from
11689s players to uh you know other casters
11691s there's other language streams as well

12022s break it is the options have been taken
12025s away right there are limited options to
12028s begin with but they are now certainly
12030s the ones that are going to be have to
12032s take you have to be taking the bigger
12034s risks in proceedings and chasing the win
12036s like that can just end up with you
12038s getting punished in a lot of positions
12040s it does look like hero selection is now
12044s i'm staring at the way
12046s uh or off with the barov
12050s looks like it might be a pretty solid
12052s pick here but refarm is thrown into the
12055s mix as well making that slightly tougher
12056s decision than it might otherwise seem
12059s no base again stop offering people
12062s shadow walk with no beast it's just
12065s cruel i demand to speak to the manager

12072s yeah this is uh pretty rough yeah we do
12075s see it again another shower we see rafam

12078s again for me reforms a choice i would
12081s have made because i think i'm just bad
12083s at barrov or i have bad experiences

12088s it is good uh but yes aurov has gone for
12090s the refined play and we do see tess from
12094s say as well so and that's gonna that's
12096s another of those thief heroes right we
12098s talked about earlier along with scabs so
12100s be very important to keep an eye on him
12102s as long as he doesn't just get pressured
12104s out super early uh tess is an absolute
12108s nightmare in those like a naga sort of
12110s heads uh head-to-head kind of plays
12112s right because you can always do more
12115s than them on the turn after by cycling
12117s their own naga
12119s yes uh which means we do now have to
12121s talk about the dynamic which once again
12124s like this meta is so polarized so spiked
12126s in one direction that weird things which
12129s never used to be true are now true um
12133s and again you'll kind of see this
12134s question come up from more casual
12136s players players who are just learning
12137s the game like is it correct to make
12140s myself weaker to grief refarm is it
12143s better to make myself weaker to grief
12146s tests
12146s the answer to that
12148s in 99 of situations is no they are one
12152s of your seven opponents and just you
12154s looking out for your own game plan is
12156s probably the best thing to do
12158s however
12159s the situation with tess is so polarized
12161s that
12162s if you can say triple into a six drop
12164s and then you say you triple into a six
12166s drop and you're at 31 so you can take 15
12169s twice without dying
12171s then it might be correct not to play
12174s that sixth on board against tess
12175s going into that combat because it's so
12178s warped and so polarized what tess can do
12180s if it starts getting hold of ethissa
12183s because at that point once they have the
12185s six drops they can hero power and
12188s basically take anything they want from
12190s anyone else's board right they can take
12191s sirens they can take shoals they can
12194s take archers they can take basically
12196s anything they want whatever random
12197s piecemeal bits that the opponent has at
12200s any given point they can just gobble it
12201s up because they already have the payoff
12203s card with the ethissa so dynamic that we
12205s might be seeing later on into
12207s proceedings
12210s yeah this honestly just speaking about
12212s heroes
12214s is one of the stronger overall lobbies i
12216s think we've seen right i'm staring at
12218s every hero choice i'm like wow yeah
12220s they're all no one feels like they've
12222s whiffed right because even uh master
12224s nougat i think has been holding up a
12226s pretty solid rate uh with the rotating
12228s hero powers as we can see here right uh
12230s baba thought probably got bad memories
12232s about using the yashiraj hero power
12235s from the previous game so he might go
12237s for here
12238s so i can uh press that and get a mug
12242s yeah that doesn't seem very good
12244s press that and feel like a mug more like
12246s it the way it's been going does fitty's
12248s turn very well though right five gold
12250s two gold hero power gain a minion
12253s he's gonna freeze for the uh double
12255s shell in the shop as well
12258s and that's gonna be 100 win for sure

12263s it was a 100 tie i believe before if the

12276s is crucial you do want to punish those
12278s uh win the game heroes as hard as you
12280s can early people will be out to get the
12283s test the queen ashara again i do believe
12286s that um the tournament is uh played with
12290s you know visible uh with who is playing
12292s what's visible because you know it's
12294s just kind of considered part of the
12295s metagame at this point
12297s and so you will be able to factor that
12299s into your equation as well

12307s a very good start as may of right uh
12310s using the hero power on the pigs not
12312s only is he uh gaining spells
12314s uh with the blood gems but also just
12316s having a triple right it's kind of
12319s ticking every single box you could
12320s possibly want this early in the game
12322s obviously a little bit delayed in
12324s leveling itself but i imagine we can see
12326s a uh a level turn next turn with another
12328s hero power
12330s yeah this is very standard for mayev
12332s playing what has become known as refarm
12334s curve because rafaam was really the the
12336s first hero that came along that wanted
12339s to be pressing a one mana hero power and
12341s that kind of became more and more common
12343s when maiev was introduced eudora was
12345s introduced all of these heroes that
12346s wanted to weave in a one-mana hero power
12348s every turn
12349s my air playing on the farm curve does
12351s allow them to then be very greedy uh
12354s continue to go up the levels and turn
12356s any of those one drop triples that they
12357s find into six drops which is the name of
12360s the game and with one of those triples
12361s already banked the curve is going to
12363s work out very nicely uh for the maiev to
12366s be picking up at least one six on curve
12368s this game

12372s clearing up with the ashara just get a
12375s roll again into nothing that impressive
12378s so just going to take a 4-4 as it's just
12380s the biggest overall minion available to
12382s him a little bit painful a little bit
12384s unfortunate but still he's keeping up
12387s with the levels overall and even beating
12389s out some of the other players who are
12390s staying a little bit lower but often
12392s when you see a player stay on a lower
12394s tavern tier it's because that that hero
12396s can afford to or should right
12400s and once again we are piecing things
12402s together with queen ashara yet again
12404s it's a no dragon lobby which you know we
12407s have seen dragons so they they're not as
12409s cursed as beasts have been in this
12411s tournament so far uh but it does seem
12413s like we've been looking at a lot of
12414s queen ashara's who have not had the easy
12417s chroma wing solution even in the lobby
12419s where dragons were available the ashara
12421s player did not find the chroma wing on
12424s tavern one to be able to make this easy
12427s uh so max is just kind of piecing this
12429s together turn by turn here we have turn
12431s five still some distance away from
12433s getting this done seems unlikely that it
12435s will happen on six here yet again
12443s a pretty strong board here from hook
12446s tusk
12447s for the vt all the vt back again okay
12450s finds the drive up to even overall which
12453s i think is fine
12454s yeah those last two trades were huge
12456s just in terms of tie versus taking

12489s you kind of have to spend on rolling in
12490s weird positions if you want to pick up
12492s your opponent's stuff
12494s can cause you to fall a little bit
12495s further behind on tempo but if you're
12497s double lava lurker double snail then i
12499s don't think you're going to be having
12500s too many tempo troubles in the early
12502s game

12509s second there but yeah looks like he's
12511s gonna go for the triple next turn to go
12514s into six which makes much more sense
12517s yep this all looks perfect to me this uh
12521s gambler kind of enabling this play as
12524s well normally you wouldn't buy sell
12526s through as much of that stuff as you
12527s would there because you want to have
12528s that gold for options next term when you
12531s go to six but because you have the
12532s gambler available you have an excess of
12534s gold available on the following turn
12536s anyway uh so kyomi just decided hey i'm
12539s gonna
12540s switch into some milk here maybe pick up
12542s a couple of extra spellcraft spells
12543s because if i now triple into that
12545s officer i'm gonna be really really
12547s potentially heavily set up exactly right

12553s and that just makes sense to have access

12557s board doesn't right he doesn't really

12773s knight being kind of a common component

12776s divine shield minion that you can throw

12780s board if i've ever seen one from
12781s sisyphus he has resigned to just trying
12784s to scam as many extra places as he can

12790s said to be trying to gain any possible

12795s second place currently on six points so
12797s if he has a middling game if he can just
12800s gain a few points he's still looking

12806s be absolutely heartbreaking for him does
12809s get two poisons activated as well which

12851s has a lot of access to gold he has
12854s a jumble of minions is the words i'm
12856s going to choose to use here okay what is
12858s he trying to do
12861s uh well live first and foremost
12863s personally i mean i find that question
12864s difficult to answer because my immediate

12869s press the button use that gold and then
12871s try and find mantid queens and leroy's
12874s on six right to be able to defend from

12883s just trying to find additional tempo is

12887s maximum stats and just trying to outlast

12900s is well i finished first last lobby so
12903s who cares about actually scrapping for
12905s top four if i can turn this seventh into
12908s sixth and then turn that sixth into
12909s fifth i'll take that and then we'll play
12911s lobby three and we'll see where things
12912s end up this is a play that's actually
12914s ended on something huge here that
12916s volgin's very good at which is the
12918s myrmidon right uh bulging big stats
12920s obviously it's better if you have stacks
12922s and argos already because they're
12923s normally a lot bigger

12954s keep harping on about this and i really
12956s feel like the players that we're
12957s watching are undervaluing this the
12960s magnetic mech spellcraft interaction is
12963s also so huge because it allows you to
12966s give divine shield to things without
12968s taunt by putting the divine shield on a
12971s menace and then magnetizing that onto
12974s something on your board you create a
12976s divine shield non-taunt which is then
12978s leroy resistant right because their
12979s leroy goes into your taunt minion
12981s instead of your divine shield minion
12982s which is another factor you can throw in
12984s that's very similar
12989s though dappy has all of the tools
12991s required honestly a second atheist in
12993s hand uh a
12996s certain amount of spells to again start
12998s stacking the stats does have the siren
13000s but it is only a normal one i think
13003s again other than a golden atheista i
13005s think the next step is a golden siren in
13007s a lot of cases right just to really
13009s start rolling uh the main outcome of
13011s course being that well two sirens is
13014s kind of the same but it's not it's two
13016s spaces on board when you could do the
13018s same thing for one
13020s i do think this is interesting just
13022s watching this dynamic play out like in
13024s even in comparison to my ladder games
13026s which like right now my ladder games are
13028s pretty high level right like it's early
13029s season i'm top 15. i'm going to brag for
13031s them
13032s like my lobbies tend to have like one or
13035s two like xqn sauron type people in it
13038s right like one or two of them the
13040s difference between that and eight of
13042s those players in the same lobby is still
13044s striking me and this isn't just a humble
13046s brag i do have a point to make here
13048s because in my situation on ladder
13051s i would be selling this brute right now
13053s because i don't care about it i want to
13056s replace that with another spellcraft
13058s minion so that i can pump my
13060s uh my theta and my siren value even more
13063s and then end up the one other person
13066s that's also hit the nuts in the lobby so
13068s i end up bigger than them that dynamic
13070s is so different when like four five six
13073s people are all just doing the same thing
13076s and on a similar footing with you in the
13077s same lobby you can't afford to take
13080s those one turn hits in tempo because you
13083s just get immediately murdered and also
13085s as well like the as you mentioned before
13087s the big deal is you're not playing three
13088s games for points on ladder
13091s you know made up points unless you're
13093s top 16 i guess and we did just see uh
13095s baba fat go out there in seventh uh
13098s which is rough right he was only on 2.5
13101s points so far the seventh won't gain him
13104s much either um baba fat would have to do
13107s something miraculous
13109s uh in the next game to to give him any
13111s chance of making that top f4 or dragon
13114s though still just uh surviving even on
13118s one health if you've got one health and
13120s you're not dead which is all you really
13121s need honestly so he's doing a good job
13123s of uh banking a minimum of a sixth and
13126s he is going up against max on the um
13130s ashara so
13131s let me have a quick look at that one uh
13136s oh there it is oh yeah maybe not looking
13138s too great for all dragon in this next
13140s fight but still
13142s no officer for max so the numbers are
13145s relatively small there's good divine
13147s shield value and it has been milking a
13150s lava lurker which is one individually
13151s huge minion uh but no officer to be seen
13154s just yet
13161s uh we saw
13162s all dragon picking up the uh the new
13165s murky in that position which
13167s is uh something that we haven't talked
13169s about too much i did touch on it at the
13171s beginning it was kind of covered in that
13172s glossary of like um you know dark gay
13174s zelda murkai
13176s those are the things that i think you
13178s generally should not be doing in these
13180s lobbies when i said don't go into
13182s another minion type and start scaling a
13184s different minion type because it just
13185s doesn't work um that's kind of where we
13188s are i think with murky and you kind of
13189s see that right like this is all dragon's
13192s board he has a brand he has some merlin
13194s there's a four space on board it's just
13196s not being put on the board because it's
13198s you know it's that irrelevant to the
13199s situation
13203s good trades poisoning the mermaid and
13205s getting some work done does get rid of
13206s the bran which is a big deal yes
13210s is it live again job done
13212s yep i mean this is exactly it right turn
13214s the seventh into sixth then turn the
13216s sixth into fifth that's exactly what i
13218s was saying a couple of turns ago it's
13219s exactly what all dragon has done we
13221s could just find out who or dragon's next
13223s opponent is i think he might have found
13225s the end of the road but i do believe
13228s that this is just oh he's found the
13230s ghost as well turn that fifth into
13233s fourth let's go that's uh kyomi right
13236s the ghost so he has uh all dragon has
13239s the weaker naga player uh as it goes to
13241s go against this turn okay beatable
13244s it's very beatable yeah very beatable
13247s again it goes to show how warped this
13249s meta is and we're like okay you're
13251s finding the ghost but they are one of
13252s the naga players so you might have a
13254s chance against them yeah
13258s we're off here with a you know a big
13260s mixed bag of minions the golden child
13263s just
13264s wondering what he's doing here i thought
13266s he thought he was still on a break
13272s i mean honest actually
13274s now that you mention it what on earth
13276s has occurred on this board
13278s how have we got to this position he
13280s tripled into a
13282s four i believe
13284s yes uh got the uh fire elemental and
13288s then i think just
13290s carried on relevant not fire well what's
13292s it called the the
13294s of the cleave yeah yeah sorry sorry um
13297s and uh and yeah the rest of the game i
13300s don't know i think i think from that
13302s point where he tripled into it and then
13304s just it felt like a whiff he probably
13306s from what i've been noticing anyway on
13308s on the
13309s turn by turn stuff is just he just went
13311s for
13312s it's a poison sort of best minion style
13315s just to get him through
13318s to be fair it is providing quillboard
13320s minion type to him right now which with
13322s double mounted in play is actually doing
13323s quite a lot of work as you can see them
13326s bless themselves with the divine shields
13328s once again this is the no officer naga
13330s board on the other side which is still a
13332s very beatable scenario that's a great
13334s trade into the divine shield poison
13338s the small one
13339s yeah and now with multiple big minions
13340s and two poisons left over that's gonna
13342s value trade into the smaller minion and
13344s that means that auroch is going to
13346s survive as well and kill the queen
13349s ashara who has gone this entire game
13351s without actually finding any real
13353s legitimate naga scaling which means
13356s order dragon moonwalk i mean this
13359s nonsense of a board
13361s and or off with that nonsense of a board
13363s has outlasted two different naga players
13367s who hit on their triples which beautiful
13370s stuff well deserved points
13373s for both orovan or dragon in this spot
13375s and two very different stories as well
13377s right all dragons coming off the back of
13378s winning the previous game uh which means
13381s now at worst at top four he might be
13383s aurov at this point who knows uh
13386s although who is he actually facing
13389s oh he's facing happy yeah he's facing
13392s deputy um but also aurov finished
13395s seventh in the previous game at one
13397s point so the fact that he's moving up
13399s again to a minimum of top four like
13402s that's the recovery game right at worst
13404s from this point so then he you can make
13407s plans for game three after this
13408s performance i think as you said both
13410s players have done a great job of just
13412s pulling a finish out of absolutely
13414s nowhere
13418s and this is the question right is you
13420s look at uh
13422s you look at what was facing on the other
13424s side you look at what is
13427s on dappy's board like
13429s how do you make this
13431s be that that's that's
13434s a selfless hero
13436s yeah
13437s easy peasy throw tony in there for good
13439s times
13449s yeah just saying poison equals poison so
13452s i'll just dump the extra stats onto the
13453s myrmidon hope that that then competes
13456s with one giant naga on the other side
13458s right by giving 52 attacks then 104
13460s attack you're saying okay this is now
13463s also poisonous right even against high
13465s roll naga at this point i've made
13467s another poisonous minion by giving it
13469s 104 attack which yeah makes sense
13476s uh value trade available yes
13479s oh so cool
13481s good effort good
13483s two damage away on one break point of
13485s being able to survive another tie and
13487s yes as predicted yeah round of applause
13489s great effort or dragon and aura off
13491s really i think putting up the showing of
13493s the tournament in that lobby scrapping
13494s with messy stuff to outlast naga players
13498s and find themselves in that top four
13500s but as predicted it is going to be once
13502s again the two of the players that hit
13504s and hit hard who are now back in
13507s business and it's going to be a top two
13509s showdown with a tess involved which is
13511s always an utterly miserable feeling when
13514s you are not the test
13517s yeah that is very true although it's
13519s also a weird test board as well like
13521s with like pre-emptive two leroys on and
13524s i very much have seen a lot of tests you
13526s know have the strong naga board and then
13529s if needed switch to the the sort of tech
13532s uh as opposed to starting with double
13534s tech instead so
13536s very weird here by the way that's uh two
13539s hero hero-powered dormant minions in a
13541s tavern six shop which means uh dappy is
13544s actually losing a minion on every single
13546s roll right now which is not something
13548s that you see too often at this level
13550s very curious as to what led him into
13551s that situation
13552s importantly as well one of them is argus
13555s so he can taunt up a leroy if needed
13557s something we've seen a few times in the
13558s past yep
13562s demanded as well although i imagine this
13564s is just going to be psycho play the glow
13566s scaling
13567s maybe hero power the demanded but again
13570s as you mentioned like the more hero
13572s powers lay down for any given turn the
13574s more of a problem is
13575s yeah i really don't like continuing to
13577s hero power here if you're going to if
13579s you want that mantids you can just
13581s freeze it and pick it up next turn you
13582s can even double sell something including
13584s the ghoul to pick it up now if you
13586s really wanted to
13589s now both players gonna get a look at
13591s their updated boards and really see what
13593s they're gonna have to fight against to
13595s make something happen
13599s decent opening hits for dappy
13602s that is a fantastic hit for daffy
13604s there's now value trade available but
13606s yeah numbers just too much
13608s too much on the other side we'll have to
13611s go through
13612s uh one more fight because 14 is not
13615s enough but tess just once again gets to
13618s uh pick and choose whatever is available
13621s from this uh buffet
13623s of naga on the other side
13627s it's so silly
13630s just whatever you want me just have it
13633s it's fine
13634s and interestingly enough because of the
13637s way uh hyunsai's minions have sort of
13640s shaken out and the way the the warband's
13642s been made there's no natural glow scale
13646s in the in the build right and normally
13648s that's the one i would like end on in in
13651s this kind of test face-off scenario uh
13653s but he has like a relatively weak naga
13656s with the taunt right instead so
13659s and the problem is he's gone too far
13660s past the point that he can bail on it
13662s because it's too big and providing too
13664s many buffs
13665s but it's still it's not straightforward
13667s but he does have his option now at the
13668s uh coveted golden leroy if he really
13671s wanted it yeah he had that at the start
13673s of the turn as well and then just like
13675s sold out one of his leroy to then pick
13677s up another one as well as some other
13678s stuff um yeah i think if there is any
13682s weakness in unsaid's game right now it's
13685s that he does just have one taunt which
13687s is also arguably his best minion right
13690s that's not the situation you want to be
13692s in in a late-game battle it has two
13695s technically right
13696s yes yeah okay the other minion will give
13698s itself torn yes
13701s but yeah it's still it's not the best
13703s naga board i've ever seen but it's still
13705s just strong
13706s yes
13707s so the big factor then is where that
13711s spellcraft goes from the actual tour
13713s minion i do
13714s like that he has been putting it on the
13716s mounted generally to be able to pick up
13718s that divine shield
13719s uh cleaves off the divine shield with
13721s the first attack second attack is okay
13724s but once again
13725s it just seems to me like the numbers are
13727s too small on the other side yeah
13729s he would need at the very least to get
13731s into a position where that 60 attack
13733s minion that he had dealt with the 70
13736s health taunt on the other side right if
13738s he can make that break point happen
13740s then his brute might be able to take a
13742s two for one at the end of the fight and
13744s find a tie um but because his numbers
13746s were just ever so slightly smaller than
13748s the tests on the other side which
13749s they're always kind of going to be when
13752s you get to that position of the game
13753s because tess just gets to pick and
13755s choose whatever you want that's always
13756s going to be an uphill battle from that
13758s point and yeah just to make the point
13760s tess finish that game on tavern five
13763s with oh with golden official golden
13767s siren two leroys uh mantid queen like
13770s everything from six that you could
13771s possibly want cabin five just doesn't
13774s need to go there just steal it from
13775s everyone else that's fair remember
13777s priest everyone enjoyed that right let's
13779s just do that but in battlegrounds yeah
13781s sure okay you see yansu and all dragon
13784s basically mirroring each other at this
13786s point now both equally 11.5 points uh
13789s kayomi struggling at two going into the
13792s final
13793s uh the final game and extremely unlikely
13796s if not reasonably impossible uh to make
13799s it into top four and baba fat also
13801s struggling at 3.5 but above that you
13804s know it's still all up for grabs right
13806s obviously dappy looking the best uh uh
13809s beneath the next two players at the top
13810s but still a lot up for grabs here in
13812s this final game but yeah tess is a
13815s monster and i think what was cool about
13817s the taunt on the mounted as well is it
13820s made
13822s it made putting the brute further up so
13824s it can attack earlier and maybe get some
13825s wind fury on the smaller minions
13828s um
13829s not doable because if the manta is
13831s taunted and you hit your shield on
13833s someone else first and then hit into the
13834s mantid you just lose the brute right so
13837s i think that positioning and that sort
13839s of
13840s naga late game
13842s their face off is super interesting
13844s because there's so many different ways
13845s you can position and like force your
13847s opponent into weird scenarios
13850s all right so here's what we're doing for

13868s all the things that i've been talking

13875s giga lobby to round off the day that's
13877s how it has to work i think it's not

13882s tomorrow is just right

13890s game there i like the uh the way all
13893s dragon just played this out and made
13894s this work i think this is impressive
13897s because it's so hard to do it's to like
13900s keep up and like position yourself in a
13902s spot where you just as you mentioned
13904s just you go from sixth to fifth you go
13906s up another one you go up another one
13908s right and that just secures so many more
13910s points and now with all dragon and
13912s beyonce 11.5 points going into game
13916s three
13918s they just have to not completely mess up
13921s right there are so many things that
13922s would have to go wrong for them not to
13924s feel safe at this point i i think
13926s they've had a a great couple of games so
13928s far
13929s yeah uh oral four dragon i think shout
13931s out that was the lobby of the tournament
13933s for me from those two players um again
13936s you know i described it originally you
13938s recapped it perfectly like that's the
13939s job you when you get in a position like
13941s that you're like okay i don't have the
13942s naga i don't have the i don't have the
13944s ethissa i don't have anything going for
13946s me so i'm gonna win this fight and then
13949s another one and then i'm just gonna dj
13950s khaled my way all the way as far up the
13953s rankings as i possibly can until other
13955s people around me die and it's just all
13957s you can do
13958s and saying that in principle is so much
13962s easier than actually doing it yes
13965s there was luck the fifth i think
13967s entirely played for and got by or dragon
13970s in particular
13972s um and then for me
13975s then
13976s finding the ghost that's the good
13978s fortune that you're then rewarded for
13979s for
13980s getting yourself in that position right
13982s like you don't necessarily have to get a
13983s top four from that spot but you put
13985s yourself in a position where the ghost
13987s is available and you have as good a
13988s chance as are two other players around
13990s you being able to hit that i mean as
13991s simple as that if he didn't survive long
13993s enough he would have been the ghost
13995s there you go so you can't fight the
13997s ghost if you're already dead uh but yeah

14232s before the players jump in um how have
14235s you found the day has it gone as
14236s expected any big surprises for you so

14240s no hard to say too much surprise i think
14243s you know it doesn't take a hearthstone
14246s analyst of my renown and genius to
14248s predict what the meta was going to be
14250s coming into this tournament right yeah i
14252s predicted it exactly yeah it made sense
14254s we were gonna see naga everywhere um i
14257s think you know just based on what i've
14259s seen in like various chats and around
14261s everywhere i think there might be a
14263s little bit of a perception if anything
14264s that like oh you know poison murlocs can
14267s beat naga or you know this can beat naga
14270s and my answer to that is just kind of
14272s no no they can't um
14274s oh i suppose if you listen to xd uh
14276s nagas are just a support class and
14278s they're not actually that good anyway um
14280s which is terrible also also a take that
14282s is a thing that you can definitely post
14283s on the internet um but
14286s uh as expected for the most part again i
14289s think we're banging on about him we've
14290s made this point specifically but i do
14292s think
14293s the gas coiler and beast in general
14296s interaction and how that affects the
14298s metagame is the one thing that we
14299s perhaps been missing
14302s i thought beast rotated out
14304s no no beasts are still in the game
14307s they do still exist it's just we've
14309s played five lobbies in a row without
14311s them um but yeah that interaction is
14313s just kind of giving an extra tool to the
14316s scan player right because guards coiler
14318s equals reborn gas coil equals a ton of
14320s tempo equals murder board right you
14322s fight a naga player who's just spiked
14325s into the six you have a reborn gas
14327s coiler you hit them for 25 right because
14330s if damage caps already off your gas coil
14332s pops open you get the gas coiler back
14333s you get two five or six drop death rows
14335s of the coiler boom you've killed them
14337s outside of that leroy is coming out of
14339s gas coiler that's just your ultimate
14341s scan potential that is the way outside
14344s of lich king reborn leroy with khadgar's
14347s that's the highest scam potential in the
14349s game right gas coilers and the amount of
14350s leeroy's that you can get out of them
14352s particularly in certain lobbies that's
14354s the one dynamic that i think has been
14356s missing from the mix right now
14358s the only thing that i would peg as a
14359s surprise is the i thought and i will
14361s hold my hands up i only started into
14364s this and using this in my games last
14366s night when i say last night about six
14369s hours ago um
14372s yep yep checks out um the uk time the
14375s mech divine sheet the mech magnetic
14378s spellcraft interaction is something that
14380s i thought more players would be ahead of
14382s me on and understand how powerful that
14384s was already and since i only started
14386s doing it a few hours ago leading into
14387s this i thought these players would be
14389s more used to doing that as well in their
14391s defense however there haven't been that
14393s many opportunities i've noticed where
14395s that would be a thing that could be gone
14396s for mex have also been banned quite a
14398s lot in the the various lobbies uh there
14401s was one situation with a menace and a
14403s foe reaper already on board i called out
14404s some things could have happened that
14405s perhaps didn't um but but overall pretty
14409s much par for the course of what we
14410s expected coming into this right
14412s yeah it really is and i think um
14415s a lot of it as we've seen is
14418s yes we've seen this in the past uh i
14420s think for me especially with their quill
14422s ball when they initially came out the
14424s meta became quillboards but it it is
14427s it's not like it's not interesting
14429s though because how you get to the naga
14431s especially when naga specifically are so
14433s heavily leaned towards the tier 6
14435s minions being your
14436s the key pieces of the puzzle but how you
14439s get there how you get there with
14440s different heroes how greedy you try and
14443s get there and then we've seen people
14444s punished right we've seen people go down
14446s to low health totals and then when they
14448s hit someone of equal or slightly more
14450s power level
14451s they get hit for that final bit and
14452s they're done and that's still an
14454s inherent risk in itself because as we've
14456s been mentioning these aren't ladder
14458s games where okay i'm gonna try this if
14460s it doesn't work i lost a few mmr so what
14463s if if any of these players try something
14465s and it fails miserably that's a third of
14467s their potential points that they can
14470s gain to an extent
14471s gone and they have to be in the top half
14474s to make it into the second day and the
14476s second day is where i think arguably
14479s you'd fancy your chances even more right
14481s because it's not just three lobbies
14484s there's a bigger chance of you actually
14486s making it all the way because there's
14488s generally going to be more lobbies
14490s unless you only watch the last day of
14492s the previous lobby legends
14494s where you've got a bigger chance you've
14496s got more time to get going some of that
14498s consistency might you know uh impact
14500s even more because there's generally more
14502s games to play so i think you do
14505s everything possible to get into that top
14507s five top eight sorry and
14509s you know risking things doing things a
14511s bit too greedily we have seen players
14513s get punished for that so i think that's
14515s a even though the game is very naga
14517s centric right now it's very important to
14520s still do it well right like if you just
14522s if i went in there and tried to do these
14524s things i'd probably consistently be like
14526s seventh eighth uh maximum right because
14529s i wouldn't be able to get to the good
14531s points as smoothly as some of these
14533s players do
14534s yeah and this is um you know not an
14538s opinion that is shared by a large number
14540s of people but i really enjoy meta games
14542s like this as long as they're temporary i
14544s have a really good time with them
14546s because
14547s the sense of close to perfection
14551s feels attainable right like when there
14553s is one clear strategy that you have to
14555s work towards and then one fail-safe
14557s strategy that you go to if that doesn't
14559s work it feels like you can achieve 99
14562s perfection on playing those two
14564s strategies if you work hard enough right
14566s you're gonna run out of time before the
14568s meta game changes and then you you but
14570s you feel like you could get to the point
14573s where you understand every nuance every
14575s out every percentage calculation every
14578s odds the rolls the hits everything that
14581s you need you understand the game
14583s perfectly because it's been boiled down
14585s and condensed down and you know like
14587s cooking stock down to an actual zoo in
14589s the end you condense all that flavor
14592s into one large delicious punch
14595s and then you can really focus on doing
14597s one thing incredibly well i don't want
14599s to do it forever but for now i do think
14601s it's an interesting snapshot of a
14602s competitive metagame of like who can do
14605s this optimally for the longest over the
14607s period of the tournament i think that's
14609s kind of cool that's the thing as well no
14611s doubt the meta in general will develop
14613s uh
14614s again i before everyone calls me on this
14616s i have no knowledge of any patches but
14618s generally battlegrounds gets patched
14620s right he gets updates gets bounce
14622s changes maybe that happens and guess
14624s what there's more lobby legends coming
14626s up in the future as well so there'll be
14628s plenty more time for players to either
14630s maybe play in this style of meta
14632s remember in the near future and naga
14634s will not be in every lobby then then
14636s what does the game look like right
14638s because we've still got these additional
14639s neutral minions with the likes of leroy
14642s uh the mantid as well with some a few
14644s changes in the meta that aren't naga
14646s centric which means when naga aren't in
14648s every lobby suddenly we have to go back
14651s and think oh right yeah what do the
14652s other minion types do again how do i
14654s play those right and like how do i win
14657s when nagas on it strictly involved and
14660s all this spellcraft isn't really uh
14662s involved in any particular game so
14664s there's still
14665s a lot of variety going on overall in the
14667s near future again slight delay because
14670s some of the players are struggling today
14671s they're not just even china uh the the
14674s chinese players now it looks like a
14675s potential issue i don't know this might
14677s be the lobby as i'm seeing heroes
14680s whenever i look over here it's i'm
14682s staring at the uh the uh the screen that
14684s tells me what's going on in the game and
14686s yeah it looks like we are good to go so

14692s comfortable and good to go with their
14694s connections but let's get into it subtle
14696s kick us off
14697s so we are looking at oroff who is in the
14702s position of needing to climb he's 5.5
14704s points right now which sits him in sixth
14707s place so he needs to make some gains and
14709s he has got
14711s four three and a half very good heroes
14714s for making gains here i think failing we
14716s can argue over i think the other three
14718s most people would agree uh definitely
14721s have straight up lobby winning potential

16497s extra dynamic to proceedings right it
16499s opens this up that we saw it opens up
16501s the shutter walk lines that are you know
16503s people at players have to turn down
16504s shadow walk multiple times because the
16506s lack of beast being available same thing
16508s with jandice if jandis becomes available
16510s same thing with leapers if leapers
16512s because i'm joking um
16515s it does create different options and i
16518s think you saw multiple players trying to
16520s seize upon those options with varying
16522s degrees of success
16525s the screenshot you showed me i think
16526s yesterday of your uh one hydra carry
16530s comp uh which was reasonable as well
16533s that did some work but i completely
16535s agree i think highlight for me
16536s definitely all dragon playing the game
16538s as it should be played in this format

16544s you know backing it up there's one thing
16546s to say okay i'm gonna go for this
16547s because it it might help me survive long
16550s enough to gain enough points but pulling
16552s it off as well and knowing exactly what
16554s to go for great understanding of the
16556s game in a relatively short amount of
16558s time because of course and no new player
16560s to battlegrounds but new player as is
16562s everyone to this patch in this matter
16564s yeah and certainly that was the big
16566s question coming into this right and
16569s certainly as i said i've watched a lot
16570s of beaufort streaming prepping for this
16573s tournament um and he spent kind of two
16576s whole days just like okay i'm not going
16579s to force naga right i'm going to do
16581s everything else with the quest to find
16585s plan b's for lobby legends because
16587s that's much more important than just
16589s knowing well if i hit naga i win the
16591s game right he then on the final day just
16594s went back to just okay if i hit naga
16595s we'll play naga and i'll work on like
16597s optimizing what the naga board looks
16599s like which i thought again was a really
16600s healthy balanced way to break it down
16602s because it is more important to find
16604s those plan b's than it is to just work
16606s out what to do when you hear as evidence
16608s there by all dragon doing it incredibly
16610s well in game two and game three and
16613s taking down first place in lobby b
16615s um as a reward for his efforts again
16618s what a fantastic performance yeah really
16620s really strong performance overall and a
16622s good performance from all our players
16624s honestly uh of course uh eight of them
16626s get knocked out we have eight now ready

16631s to change it's not gonna just be three
16633s games we're not going to be over in an
16634s hour or so it's going to be a then a new
16637s format not new to us but there may be
16639s new to you watching it's going to be the
16641s check format which changes everything do
16644s i just give us a very very brief
16645s breakdown of check obviously we'll talk
16647s a lot more about it tomorrow yeah so in
16649s order for the tournament to kind of
16651s always end on a high which is sometimes
16653s difficult with kind of points based
16654s systems right like sometimes if it was
16656s just purely first player to 30 points
16659s wins you might finish seventh and then
16662s win the tournament on that last game
16663s which can feel a little anticlimactic
16665s right so it's going to address that
16666s issue check format is a format where a
16668s certain threshold of points is set and
16671s then once you pass that threshold of
16673s points you are then essentially allowed
16675s to win the tournament you have to reach
16676s that threshold of points first you're
16678s then eligible to win the tournament
16680s which we call putting the lobby in check
16681s but from that point the first player who
16684s has the lobby in check to win a game
16688s then also wins the tournament which
16690s means no matter what the person who wins
16692s the tournament goes out on a high we saw
16694s be nice do that incredibly quickly i
16697s think
16698s one game above the minimum number that's
16701s possible in the previous tournament um
16703s so you know the way it seems to have
16705s panned out i would imagine that we go
16707s like the full 14 games or something
16709s tomorrow with the maximum spread out
16711s going through
16713s so uh i think overall it should be very
16715s very interesting uh check format i know
16718s it kind of cut the day short in the
16720s previous lobby legends but i'm hoping
16721s for a bit more of a tussle bit more back
16724s back and forth a bit more multi-check
16726s situation this time around and we'll see
16728s how it plays out yeah really interesting
16729s as well because it can and just does
16732s vary up the way the game is played once
16734s those players start to put the lobby in
16736s check right because they're going for
16738s first no matter what because anything
16740s else simply does not matter just looking

16744s eight players here and honestly i've
16746s been impressed with all of them so far i
16748s think max especially has done a good job
16750s of like you know even though he didn't
16752s finish uh high on points he did a good
16754s enough job to like hang on in certain
16756s situations right like we've talked about
16758s if you don't hit the big stuff just
16761s hanging on to grab one extra point here
16763s and there uh it was impactful only
16764s making it to that top eight cut but
16766s overall my eyes are definitely uh
16768s looking at all dragon uh sulking as well

16772s and uh and 602 and see if he uh had a
16775s rough start to the day but made it
16777s through that's all that matters
16779s yeah uh really really stacked looking

16784s who i knew coming into this had
16785s reputation people had heard of people
16786s i've seen play people who have had in my

16790s and but also the newer players who i've
16792s just been exposed to who also showed
16793s very impressive understanding of what's
16795s going on throughout this so extremely
16797s excited to see how this pans out
