Right but a tutorial is going to be vastly better than your bots, you know it, i know it, everyone else knows it
Agree to disagree on that! But regardless, a good tutorial also needs good bot tech to function.

Discussing what we can do there. We're taking a look at Maw of Malmortius and Force of Nature degree of hardcountering, and one of the motivations for moving Shieldbow out of the Mythic space was that a rushable AD + Lifesteal + anti-burst item on Irelia, Yasuo, etc has really dramatic repercussions on how Mages feel to play in mid lane. But this isn't the same as feeling like your own items are more fun or more balanced. Mages are harder to do simple numbers tuning on, because there's such a gap in their solo queue vs pro play performance - in pro they're already the top of the meta. So, we're looking into it, but there's no guarantee of a direct item change to Mage items at midseason.
Sometimes I want to play league but don't have the mental energy to play vs real people. Bots are very useful for that.
Totally agree! I'd be much more willing to jump on (and convince my friends to jump on) if we had a way to avoid incurring the mental energy of PvP. (Or if we could just get 5 on to try something really silly, just to have fun).
I remember my first normals game after I gathered up enough courage after crushing my bot games. I got completely destroyed. Glad they are expanding on the bots.
This happened to me too! My friends just told me I have to lose a bunch until I "got it" and it was super painful. We are specifically trying to address this as our first major usecase so that players have a much easier ramp into PvP
Is there any chance that Doom Bots will come back in the future following this change? Maybe as a higher 'challenge' difficulty for the new bots?
Let's just say I'm a very big fan of Doombots of Doom and want to bring back the memes of surviving Annie bot 👀
/u/Reav3 are you able to share the creature marksman team
Yeah, currently DNA is TwinEnso on design, Scathlocke on narrative, and Whiteleyth on art
Just to be clear, what exactly is the difference between Teemo/Lee Sin's ASU's and Jax's VU? Are they not basically the same thing? I understand that Jax was at one point going to get a small scale VGU, and it got split up into a midscope and VU, but at this point it just seems like the same thing.
At this point yeah they're pretty much the same thing with different names since we got there via different paths
I don't know if you can answer this yet, but is the new cute creature marksman a botlaner or like Akshan for another lane? And could you tell us what region they're from?
Botlane! Currently hatching in one regions, but who knows what their journey might entail!
We thought he was a great character in some respects (personality, voice, backstory, connection to other characters etc). Didn't make sense for a MOBA however, just the wrong sort of expression of power for the gameplay we offer.
With new AI/Bot-related game modes on the horizon maybe he could be a sort of high stakes shopkeeper in a rogue-like? :D
I could definitely see Silco as a compelling NPC if we had the right game or mode. I also think he could work well in something like LoR though too under player control, plenty of options in games that don't have to be all about direct head to head real time combat
Any chances this could become a thing with other old champions? Like Nocturne and Shivana
Depends on the champion! Since every one of our champs is special in their own ways, the solutions are also special :)
When we getting a new dev blog on skins and etc ?
We'll cover some skin stuff in the next video (potentially accompanying blog as well)
But what about divine sunderer. The item breaks toplane.
We're considering a nerf or change, but I'm not willing to net nerf Fighters in top lane at this time so preferring a buff-the-competition approach.
With the addition of jungle bots, and I assume wanting new players to jungle, will co-op vs AI be moving to Quick Play from Blind Pick, whenever that drops
We are currently working closely with the quick play team to see what the new player experience should be, whether blind pick or quick play, but our bots are being built with both routes in mind.
For the 2 week on test though, we are aiming for blind pick and when the bots are ready to roll out on production, we will adapt them to the strategy of champ select at that time.
/u/RiotMeddler Any update on Clash? I know the recent technical issues have been addressed by a Rioter in another thread, but what about changes in general? Clash has a few issues (smurfing, teams leaving after first loss) that have existed for a long time unaddressed. In comparison to what Valorant is getting with Premier, Clash pales in comparison. With the last true dev update to Clash being two years ago (as far as I could find at least), is Clash no longer being iterated on? Or are there changes in the works?
Short term - address the technical issues that have been really damaging recently, adjust internal processes so code changes that could impact Clash don't get added last minute
Longer term - get a lot of learnings from Premier in VAL, figure out which could make sense in Clash, then determine how to prioritize that potential work versus other League feature development. Realize that's fairly vague, and that yeah it's also reflective of no feature improvements coming in the near term at least. Figure better to share what we can though at least
Some games it's really bad to go tank sion and ad Sion is much better. But this is not relevant to my question, people build ad Sion because its fun, are these off meta builds being considered with the claw changes?
AD Sion existed before Prowler's and we will support it as a secondary build, but not better than the tank build.
There is something I want to ask, since the first video at the start of the season you guys say that there'll be language update, where we could finally set the game in diferente language but ever since that video there has been no talk about that, when are they gonna say anything? It's something I'm really excited to see in league.
We'll get an update on language select timing in one of the upcoming videos (either the next one or the one after)
Riot doing Skarner mains dirty pushed back and nothing new to show
We were faced with either going ahead with something that wasn't hitting the quality bar or with significantly delaying Skarner's VGU again. Would certainly prefer not to have to do either, but we concluded better to delay than ship something that wasn't right, especially after missing the mark on Skarner in previous updates back in the day.
Will Teemo and Lee Sin still be receiving their ASU’s?
Yes
No news about the essence emporium?
Coming back mid year, we haven't announced exact dates just yet though
When can I change my client to Korean or Japanese though?
We'll get an update on timing for language selection in one of the upcoming videos (I suspect not the next one, but the one after, but that's a rough guess)
