Yeah that's a totally understandable interpretation. The flavor represents bowling over opponents; so if a little barrier unit blocks a giant elephant it smashes past and keeps slamming into the nexus. It's "overwhelm" not "overkill".

Your assumption makes total sense too, it's just not the flavor or gameplay we wanted to emphasize.
