There are a couple workarounds that people did. This should fix one of them. I'm just passing along the message that was given to me.

Tl;dr DON'T DO WORKAROUNDS PLEASE

Comment

@DeadlyK1tten:

Umm, as noted in another thread: if the “workaround” was modifying the hosts file - the user may be forced to *very carefully* undo the changes. The user needs to know exactly what they did to undo it, unfortunately, and so there is no perfectly safe “one size fits all” fix.
Modify Windows system configuration files at your own risk!

True. Depends on which workaround you did. Either way, just don't do workarounds ever please haha.

It’s on our list of “things we’d like to do”. Fair warning: that’s a long list.

Thanks! We'll take a look.

No, this is design issue that happens ALL THE TIME, with all kinds of cards, only reason it was chalked up as a bug that required fixing in Warboss case was visibility.

When two players pass priority at empty stack, game moves on to next step or phase. But for whatever reason, same thing happens when one player passes priority to let spell/ability resolve, and other one automatically passes due to not being able to do anything (even if he shouldn't be gettng priority at this time). Player one casts Warboss, is out of mana. Player two lets it resolve, game sees two players passing priority with empty stack, moves on. Player one flashes in defender before declaring blockers, if player two lets it resolve, does not get chance to kill it before it's declared as blocker (without full control). Player one flashes in creature at end step, player two does not get chance to kill it without full control.

This is design issue that rears it's ugly head all the time, but it sta...

You are correct that it's a design issue. I just wanted to clarify that the fix was broader than just Legion Warboss - whenever a card with a step/phase based trigger enters a zone where that trigger is active in the step/phase just before the triggering one, the opponent should now get to act (if they have any actions they can afford). For example, if your opponent discards Arclight Phoenix in their main phase, you should get priority to, say, activate your Remorseful Cleric. #wotc_staff

If so, you probably did the "workaround" when the game was down a while ago. To fix this, please unintall/reinstall.

Did you do the "workaround" a while back? If so, you're going to have to uninstall/reinstall.

Remove anything related to MTG Arena from your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts). If you previously added something to that file to work around problems in the past, that change will break your connection to our servers now. We do not recommend hosts file modifications for MTG Arena due to problems like this.
I show a line that says " 40.84.40.16 client.arenagame-a.east.magic-the-gathering-arena.com " however if I delete it it says access denied when trying to save it. How can I work around this? Sorry not the most techy.

You'll need to run whatever program you're using to edit the file as an administrator.

For example:

  1. Right-click notepad.exe
  2. Run as administrator
  3. Click File
  4. Click Open
  5. Open the hosts file (you'll have to look at all fil...

It's definitely still in place, and we continue to monitor its performance.

For clarity, are you using the original NPE decks (if you created your account before Core Set 2020 release on July 2) or the new ones (if created afterward that)?

Thanks for the report. We’ve identified the issue and are working on a fix.

Definitely a bug, sorry for letting it slip through the cracks :(. The fix for this is currently in test internally. Should be resolved in the next update.
