Hey Hunters,

Welcome to Kamura Hunter’s Hub #8!

In this week’s post we’re going to be diving into some of the reveals and juicy new info that was revealed during the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event on March 15th!

To kick things off we revealed that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will be releasing on June 30th this year! You can pre-purchase it right now:

If you didn’t manage to watch the event live, fear not! At the end of this post, we’ll post a link to where you can watch it in full.

Until then though, let’s kick things off with our smashing new “The Three Lords” trailer…

The Three Lords

Introducing Garangolm!

Garangolm is a hulking Fanged Beast that’s characterized by its massive, rigid body. Their sap-like fluids can promote plant growth, forging a symbiotic relationship with the flora that grows in their bodies.

Beware though, this sap is also used to harden plants and the surrounding soil, outfitting Garangolm’s body with dual fire and water elemental attacks!

Lunagaron’s True Power!

When Lunagaron was first revealed, little was known about the true nature of this fearsome Fanged Wyvern. The March Digital Event revealed that only when enraged do we see this monster’s true form…

Upon entering an enraged state Lunagaron will make use of an organ that chills the air it inhales, rapidly creating ice armour to protect it from a Hunter’s blows. It’ll also change its fighting style, instead opting to rear-up on its hind legs and fight in a bipedal style, swinging its razor-sharp claws and blowing out ice cold breath.

Mysterious Malzeno

There’s still much to learn of this mysterious flagship monster, but it does appear that this monster gains a sinister power by draining the life energy of other living creatures.

Once enough life energy has been harvested it’ll take on a more sinister appearance…

New Subspecies and a Returning Monster
Blood Orange Bishaten

Blood Orange Bishaten dances into Sunbreak, bringing with it a collection of explosive pinecones that turn up the heat on nearby Hunters. If you manage to avoid the blasting barrage, be ready to face an igniting breath attack!

Astalos

Don’t be shocked by the electrifying return of this Flying Wyvern! Violent to a fault, Hunters beware – if Astalos has charged itself into a glowing frenzy, it’s ready to unleash mercilessly powerful attacks.

New Hunter and Buddy Actions
New Hunter Actions

We’ve loved the response from the community on Silkbind actions in Monster Hunter Rise, especially on hearing and seeing how you’re implementing them in the hunt. As such, we’re pleased to confirm that all 14 weapons are getting new Silkbind attacks in Sunbreak, among other things…

Pierce the skies with your mighty Lance!

That’s a lot of hits, perfect for status and elemental weapons!

New Buddy Actions

Not to be outdone by their Hunters, Palicos and Palamutes are both receiving some powerful new tools in Sunbreak!

Not much has been revealed on their impact in hunts yet, what purpose do you think they’ll serve?

New Endemic Life
Marionette Spider

As you explore the lands surrounding Elgado, you’ll come across new endemic life including the Marionette Spider (Yes, it’s related to Kamura’s Puppet Spider!).

The Marionette Spider latches onto monsters, allowing the Hunters to pull it a specific direction. If there happens to be say, an obstacle or wall in the way well…

New Citadel Details
We also detailed more about the new Citadel area that you’ll be exploring in Sunbreak. The Citadel is unlike anywhere you’ve hunted in so far in Monster Hunter Rise. Made up of multiple biomes, from woodland, to swamps, snow covered hills and even a ruined castle – there’s lots to discover as you find out what lurks in each area…

Sunbreak Director Suzuki Update
The recently revealed Garangolm utilizes its sap-like fluids to outfit its body with hardened parts, allowing it to unleash elemental attacks. We can't wait for Hunters to go up against its powerful water and fire elemental attacks in-game!
