32s | yeah super glad to have you on us uh and |
36s | today we wanted to talk about uh season |
37s | two and uh when when that goes live uh |
41s | there will be some changes for players |
42s | they will discover the first light the |
45s | zone that uh that's one of our early |
46s | starter zones is no longer accessible |
48s | and that's because the world is changing |
51s | but what exactly is happening yeah so |
55s | um we'll talk about a little bit of the |
57s | Lord in just a second but I know that |
59s | people are going to be wondering what |
61s | happened to my stuff |
63s | um and and a lot of people are wondering |
66s | what happened to my fort buff |
68s | um so rest assured that anybody who owns |
70s | a home in first light currently that |
73s | will be refunded to you all your |
75s | furniture will be moved to the storage |
77s | unit there's still first light storage |
81s | that exists you won't be able to put |
83s | anything in it but you'll be able to |
84s | take everything out of it so that will |
86s | all be available to you if you own that |
89s | territory you'll be refunded and then |
92s | the the first slight Fort bonus which |
94s | everybody fights over it's like First |
96s | Light Fight Club that will be moved so |
99s | we'll have more information on that in |
100s | the patch notes but rest assured you |
103s | will get all of that back |
105s | cool yeah and so now let's dig into the |
108s | lore a little bit because |
109s | I did my part |
113s | so players who played through the main |
115s | story will of course remember that uh |
118s | Ariana was this mysterious Huntress who |
121s | joined players and uh and helped them |
122s | out a little bit in forging the race off |
124s | staff and becoming a soul Warden |
126s | um and eventually in the story The |
128s | Players have to kind of cross Ariana in |
130s | their fight against corruption |
132s | um they they start getting hints early |
134s | on the adiana may not be exactly just |
137s | what she appears to be like this |
138s | mysterious human Huntress and then in |
140s | Brimstone Sands we learned that she is |
144s | actually an ancient she's the ancient |
145s | known as Artemis and she is very very |
148s | mad about what players did in poisoning |
150s | the motherwell in the main story I mean |
152s | we did what we had to do yeah so it's |
155s | just kind of shut up a little bit you |
157s | know |
158s | it's classic player moves I'm like I'm |
160s | gonna do the oh no |
162s | oh no what did I do and it's a very fun |
164s | carrot that we've kind of put in front |
166s | of the player to lead them through these |
168s | stories and |
170s | be able to surprise folks and build a |
174s | more chaotic entry into Gods yeah no as |
179s | a Storyteller I always love the |
180s | opportunity to give the player the |
182s | chance to contradict in fact we kind of |
184s | force you to contradict what the NPC is |
186s | telling you you know so often quests are |
187s | just like hey go do this thing in this |
189s | case she's like no absolutely not do not |
191s | go do that thing and then the player is |
193s | going to do it and uh and so it feels |
195s | fun and of course that's why the players |
197s | have created the scenario that's now |
199s | looking like it may turn into an |
200s | apocalypse |
202s | um and that's because first light Ariana |
204s | has invaded first light with the angry |
206s | earth now she's revealed to be Artemis |
209s | um and there's this Bramble wall That's |
211s | gone up around it and so players can't |
213s | even see what's going on in there |
216s | um and you'll get you'll hear glimpses |
219s | of weird things happening if you listen |
221s | closely one you buy it and I think you |
223s | can see like just a little bit through |
225s | some of the vines but yeah you can see |
228s | the vegetation but there's definitely a |
230s | lot more waiting Beyond than vegetation |
232s | all vegetables so this is vegetarian now |
235s | oh oh |
237s | no oh and then and then the vegetation |
240s | is of course changing because part of |
241s | what you know Ariana is doing she's I |
244s | mean she's changing the world here she |
245s | has a vision of what the world will look |
247s | like when your Humanity who she's |
250s | determined is the weak link that uh that |
253s | keeps allowing corruption back into the |
254s | world and she said if we want to fight |
256s | corruption forever we got to get rid of |
258s | humanity and so her vision of this world |
261s | yeah just direct line well yeah that |
264s | makes sense humans are responsible for |
265s | all the evils particularly from the |
267s | perspective of nature keep getting |
268s | corrupted too so it's |
270s | the angry Earth don't get corrupted no |
272s | no we're very kind to view of looking at |
275s | the world |
279s | she even gives you a lecture about the |
281s | uh the human ego and how it makes you so |
283s | susceptible to corruption because you're |
285s | so easily tricked into uh into false |
288s | Pride you know I believe it because a |
290s | lot of our players have said that they |
292s | want to play for the corruption so I |
294s | mean Isabella is a really really |
296s | tempting individual to follow it's true |
298s | she's a very strong leader yeah and she |
300s | was one of the first ones that we did |
302s | cinematic for when we |
304s | um at the in Tempest so there's one that |
307s | plays at the very end and that was our |
308s | foray into it and do we get any with |
311s | Ariana |
312s | ah yeah surprise yes uh we got a couple |
317s | like simple ones in Brimstone Sands but |
319s | uh but with first light without giving |
321s | away too much |
322s | um there will certainly be you know some |
324s | pretty awesome scenes to show off like |
326s | her transition into this arch villain to |
329s | show you more about her plans |
332s | um and even to show you some of the |
333s | Allies she's recruited to her side that |
335s | are very interesting new characters onto |
337s | the scene yeah that's super awesome yeah |

341s | um and uh and then of course we have the |
344s | uh one of the things that is is there |
346s | even right away as season two goes live |
348s | is that some of the characters who were |
350s | in first light who you you may or may |
351s | not remember some of the survivalist |
353s | survivalist riches uh Constable Oaks who |
356s | could forget Oaks and riches I am yeah I |
360s | could How Could you |
362s | um don't forget and uh so those |
365s | characters uh at least a couple of them |
367s | have actually escaped from first light |
368s | before the Bramble ball went up and if |
370s | you hunt them down I think particular uh |
372s | uh barkeep Gunter Rost is uh is out |
376s | there and may give you a little bit more |
378s | detail on what's going on behind the |
379s | Bramble wall and uh and then later on uh |
382s | we might have to find you know out what |
385s | happened to the rest of the folks in |
386s | first light might might be kind of |
388s | grisly is it are they okay sure oh no I |
393s | mean nobody dies on a tournament right |
395s | exactly oh yeah that's true so they are |
398s | okay unless she's figured out some way |
400s | to like |
407s | like that's the thing once you create a |
409s | character she runs away that's right |
410s | that's right she made these choices all |
413s | by hers Isabelle's fault so like I'm |
415s | sure it's really interesting blame |
417s | Isabella it's always her you know |
420s | honestly though for a really long time |
421s | it very much what says yeah true true |
423s | yeah it's nice to have a new flavor of |
426s | powerful individuals stepping in and |
428s | absolutely taking some of that Spotlight |
430s | away from Isabella yeah I mean I think |
433s | Isabella had a had a solid motivation |
435s | but I I what I love about Adriana's |
437s | motivation is that it does have to do |
439s | with the player's own actions it has a |
441s | very it's grounded in this sense of like |
443s | hey like mankind is a defiled nature |
446s | yeah observe what's coming to them um so |
448s | she's a very sympathetic villain I think |
450s | it's worth pointing out that we we uh we |
452s | need some more male Arch villains in our |
454s | game we've even been called out there's |
456s | a lot of uh really cruel females here |
459s | um I don't know where that came from it |
460s | definitely wasn't me |
462s | you just tell me a job |
466s | the uh we've got some I mean Thorpe but |
469s | you know Thorpe doesn't quite I think |
471s | he's not as tough as Isabella and it's |
473s | not as tough as it can be yeah he's |
475s | getting better though yeah he's been |
477s | he's getting some Cinema he's gone |
478s | through it he has gone through it yeah I |
482s | mean he's still like the most iconic |
483s | symbol of the game I think oh definitely |
485s | and I know that players want to fight |
488s | him again for sure |
490s | yes but how do we bring him back again |
492s | like how many times do you have to fight |
494s | him I think we've got three times in the |
495s | game right now do it again so you've got |
498s | to get more intimidating so we gotta I |
500s | think we hinted in uh into the Tempest |
502s | Reckoning how yeah what his fate may be |
504s | in the future yeah um and that's fun |
506s | stuff to play with going forward and of |
509s | course we'll have like once the |
510s | expansion goes Live players will get to |
512s | go behind the Bramble wall and see |
513s | what's actually transpired in first |
514s | light yeah um The Zone may even have a |
517s | new name |
519s | um |
522s | and you know I |
524s | went off slate right right |
526s | you can just do whatever she wants |
529s | exactly well it's actually pretty cool I |
532s | mean what we're doing here is suggesting |
534s | that the world's evolving as the result |
536s | of the player's actions these are big |
537s | changes in a Tire Zone has changed over |
540s | in a new story takes place there |
542s | um and you know this is it'll be |
544s | interesting to see how players react to |
545s | this and if they like this kind of thing |
546s | and we get to do more of it yeah that's |
549s | awesome yeah it's been a lot of fun |
551s | especially uh getting all the talent |
554s | back into the booth to record |
555s | we we allow them to do some degree of |
559s | line changes as we're doing records |
560s | because they know the characters so well |
562s | they lived in those characters for over |
564s | two years now especially our Artemis |
566s | voice actor see she's an absolute black |
569s | yeah she's it's so good uh she just gets |
573s | it you sit in and go hey here's what |
575s | we're doing she goes oh I get to be the |
577s | villain now it just sinks into it and |
580s | you can see her enjoying and like |
582s | believing what she's saying it's more |
585s | than just putting on a performance like |
587s | there's weight and gravity to it so I'm |
589s | I'm very stoked to actually like hear |
591s | her in the space see all the different |
593s | ways that she's changed things and like |
596s | how she's progressed through the stories |
598s | yeah that's really cool yeah and that's |
600s | each time we do like these major revamps |
603s | like we were doing to the msqr that we |
606s | continue to do with the msq yeah |
608s | um and every time we do something big |
610s | like this it's going to be those you |
613s | know that Talent getting in there I |
615s | didn't know actually that they go in and |
616s | they kind of like adjust based on what |
619s | they think that the character would do |
620s | but that's awesome yeah that's really |
622s | cool it brings more |
624s | believability to the characters makes |
626s | them feel much more human and easier to |
629s | sympathize with and it's not as |
630s | artificial as like oh this sounds good |
632s | on paper yeah but well always when we |
635s | get actors who are you know different |
636s | ethnicities or Heritage like sometimes |
639s | we've had an Irish actress come in and |
641s | be like oh no that's not the way an |
642s | Irish person can see this let me tell |
644s | you and she's she's helped us get the |
646s | lines better |
647s | um so I think it's a it's always a fun |
649s | process creative input from all around |
651s | that's that's all valid it's all super |
653s | helpful and it makes the end product a |
655s | lot better yeah very cool definitely so |
658s | all that going on for season two |
660s | um I think we close now with a community |

668s | storytelling beats what other aspects |
