sorry if this has been discussed already. just got the game, just survived my first winter, once spring hit and i started repairing and recovering i started experiencing massive animation stuttering and framerate drops, pretty much my framerate will drop to about 3-5 fps for a few seconds at a time every few seconds, causing my entire settlement to animate in extremely short bursts over and over. i only have about 30 villagers but the game looks like i'm using up all my PC's resources with hundreds of units and complicated pathfinding. any fix or did i just waste 14 hours?

update: after leaving the file open but paused with spacebar for 15-20 minutes it seems to have fixed itself, which is super strange cause i was playing it with the stuttering for like 40 minutes last night and it never adjusted itself, i'm assuming this is a problem with too many stacked jobs/building and pathfinding queues? maybe it just needed time to sort all of it while nothing was happening. NVM it only fixes itself for a few minutes at a time and then goes back into stuttering, i think it might have to do with the active construction queue, is this a known thing? should i be only getting a few small projects done at a time before queuing more?

Here's my answer from the Steam forums:

The two most common causes of lag are:
1) You have thousands of items that are being checked for zoning or blueprints.
-You can easily fix this be deleting the items you don't need from the inventory (I) panel.
2) There's some error occurring under the hood.
-As it is an early access game, this has happened for a few people. Not much that can be done, unfortunately as you wait for the next patch to fix these issues.

Pathfinding isn't usually the cause of the problem because I have a pathfinding queue. 30 entities should be fine.

Sometimes simply reloading your save can fix the problem if it's some internal error. Worth a shot.

Anyway, sorry you're experiencing this lag. The next update has maaaaany fixes for lag but it's not quite ready to be released.

i had basically told my villagers to convert everything made out of wood in the entire village to stone, roofs, floors, walls, etc., about 10 or 11 buildings, i think that's what may have been causing it, now that ~90% of it is done it's running very smooth and fast again.

Having a lot of blueprints placed is another thing which, in the live version, may cause lag. So, that makes sense.
