The Market is where merchants leave purchased items and is also required for merchants to visit your settlement. Soon, I'll also be adding some merchant behavior to have them stick around in your town and hang out at this room.
The vault is where merchants leave newly acquired Ren from trades.

If they don't succeed, the caged animal becomes hostile.
They can use the capture job on the cage. This will either succeed or fail depending on the tame skill of the settler. If it succeeds, the animal is part of the settlement.
Today, I've been working on how wild animals are tamed. Players can now bait cages with an animal's food, and it will be attracted to it.

@JaysGames They do! As well as water. Unless of course you are playing the Ancients, who need neither. There are some random events where you can find food and water, or you can stop the migration along the way to scavenge food/water.
