54s is so we're going to be winning together

61s product owner for runescape kingdoms and

65s effectively the project lead um for
67s overseeing this whole project um and i

70s specialists like my friend and colleague

89s for me to just lead off and give us an
90s instruction tell me what we're doing

93s yeah go for it just uh briefly we uh you
96s guys can use exclamation mark runescape
97s kingdoms in the chat to find out loads
99s more uh about runescape kingdoms a
102s shadow of lvog including uh loads of
104s blogs uh information the kickstarter
107s link and the dedicated facebook group
108s for that uh we also has uh s f g china

113s questions so feel free uh to pop any
116s queries in there but yeah we should uh

120s okay so uh we're playing today uh
122s through a couple of turns of runescape
124s kingdoms shadowvalve so this is a
126s cooperative board game for one to five
128s players we're playing with all four of
129s us uh today um and we're gonna be
131s showing you a couple of example terms of
132s how this game works uh overall what
134s we're trying to do is we're trying to
135s complete the camp various campaigns of
138s runescape kingdoms um the example
140s campaign we've got here is this giant
142s campaign board at the bottom which says
144s vampire slayer so what we've done is
145s we've taken some of the more iconic
147s quests from sort of the early to mid
148s game uh elements of old school runescape
151s and runescape and we've turned those
152s into these campaigns that you play
154s through
155s so anytime that a player is stuck or
157s unsure of what they should do next it's
158s always a good idea to look at the
159s campaign board and see your overall
161s objectives because we're playing
163s cooperatively we'll play through all
164s this stuff together so as soon as
166s somebody has spoken to morgan that's the
167s first campaign quest everyone has
169s completed that quest and we just might
171s take that offer a little runescape token
172s like this when that's been done um once
174s we've ticked off all the different steps
176s of the campaign quest the last thing we
177s do is we'll have a boss fight against
179s count draenor himself in the crypt of
180s draenor manor and that ends your first
183s campaign um what you then do in the full
185s game is you take your characters as they
187s are with all their skills and equipment
188s and levels and play through the next
190s campaign campaign and roll onwards and
191s upwards uh through the next parts of the
193s game so
194s what we're going to do is show you some
196s example turns from this first campaign
198s quest so um when you're playing the game
200s um yourself uh the
202s the way that where the turn structure
204s works is when it comes down to your turn
205s your player character gets to do
207s two things you will move to an adjacent
209s region on the game board so if you have
211s a look at the character that i'm playing
212s with who's the knight over here and i'm
213s stood on edgeville right now during my
215s turn i could move to one of these
216s adjacent regions which could be the
218s grand exchange i could move to barbarian
220s village i could move to
222s black knight's fortress or i could move
224s to ice mountain
225s once you've moved to one of those places
227s your character is either going to
228s explore the region and see what
230s random events they run into and see if
232s they meet one of the npcs or help
234s somebody out in that region
235s or maybe someone's attacking you
237s something can happen if you're not going
238s to explore you can interact with a quest
241s so uh if i'd moved to the grand exchange
243s and i had a quest to perform say on the
245s campaign board i could do that instead
247s um and that's how we're going to
248s progress through the game um there's
250s lots of other stuff to explain us are
251s going through but that's that's the base
253s is what's gonna happen we're gonna move
254s around i'm gonna explore the game world
255s and try to complete the vampire slayer
257s quest campaign so if i hand over to uh
259s fraser if you wanna talk us through
261s firstly just what's going on with the
262s campaign cards and then take your first
264s turn we can jump into it
265s yeah so the first thing we do to set up
267s the campaign is we draw one of these
269s campaign cards
270s uh
271s vampire awakens
273s in the group beneath draenor manor count
275s during our awakens to save this thirst
277s for blood and then the card instructs us
278s to place danger tokens in a couple of
280s regions and to take some cards from the
282s vault
283s and place them in an exploration deck
285s these vault cards are countering our
286s theme then they make things
288s scary and as country owner pops up and
290s attacks us as we explore the regions we
292s set that up already before we started
294s the stream so we don't need to go
295s through all that um
297s as this track on the right hand side of
300s the board the escalation track ticks up
303s we'll
303s draw more cards and that'll
306s further edit the the exploration decks
308s it'll add more danger tokens and do
310s other things um as count draynor gets
313s more dangerous and expands his
316s uh rampage
318s so anyway with that done
320s i'll take the first turn
322s my
323s archer character is on lumbridge so i'm
326s gonna as all hands float above my
328s character
329s no one touches me
331s i'm gonna pick my character up i'm gonna
332s move them to
333s the adjacent
335s draenor
336s village so in draenor village as jamie
339s explained for us i can either explore it
340s or i can do a quest action there is a
342s quest action i can do is the first one
344s on the campaign board
346s speak to morgan
347s so that's what i'm going to do
350s be full of draenor village live in
351s constant terror their numbers are
353s dwindling during all due to the fowl
355s creature lurking in the manner to the
356s north known as a vampire one villager
358s morgan seeks eight
360s so an adventurer in draenor village with
362s defense one or more can perform the
363s following action speak to morgan by
365s collecting vault card one
366s so i am an adventurer i am in draenor
369s village and i have on defense so i can
372s speak to morgan
373s so i'm gonna go into the vault
376s uh and collect
379s vote card one morgan
382s the vault uh is a
384s stack of cards or hidden we don't know
386s what there is at various points in the
388s game we'll be asked to go and draw cards
390s from them and resolve them as they are
391s it can be any number of different types
393s of cards in this case it's a character
396s card from morgan
397s so we'll speak to morgan who says please
400s please build adventure our little
401s village has been dreadfully ravaged by
403s an evil vampire he lives in the basement
405s of the manor in the north we need
406s someone to get rid of him once and for
408s all i have a friend who is a retired
410s vampire hunter his name is dr harlow he
412s may be able to help
414s be able to give some to give you some
415s tips
416s you can normally be found in the bloom
417s in in varrock
419s so i gained three coins and again one
422s experience in defense for having done
423s that
425s so coins are these off to the sides take
427s one with the two on it
431s and one with a one on it
437s uh and then again one experience and
439s defend so i take one of the experience
440s tokens and i place it
442s uh on my
444s character sheet next to defense
446s as i gain experience i can
448s level up my skills get better
451s um we'll show you how they interact with
453s the games in a second
456s so now spoken to morgan
459s that's my turn finished
460s and we'll move
463s so the on thing we need to do is just
465s mark off on the campaign board that
466s we've completed the first campaign quest
469s so the next thing we need to do
470s collectively speak to dr harlow but we
471s can come back that later
473s what we are going to do is we're going
474s to move on to madsani's turn uh as the
476s scala who i believe is stood on falador
478s right now so uh matani what would you
480s like to do with your team
482s yeah we don't need to worry about that
484s now
485s thank you he's just chilling there we we
488s can get back around him i am quite happy
490s chilling in in falador with a with a
492s white knight so i want to get some fret
494s okay that's what i want
497s sure so instead you don't have to move
498s anywhere so you'd like to stay still and
500s explore falador so how that works is uh
502s instead of drawing an exploration card
504s like for the smaller
505s regions what's going to happen is um you
507s can collect that thread piece if you
508s want to get one of those thread tokens
509s off to the left hand side you mentioned
511s so what's happening there is um
513s at the bottom of the falador banner you
515s can see a little thread symbol
517s um and that's the resource that modsani
519s just collected by exploring the region
521s the other thing that monsanto can do now
523s that he's explored falador is you can uh
525s you can gain some experience in
527s different skills you can see the sides
528s of the banner here you've got a little
530s crafting symbol here uh with one coin
532s above it so you can spend one coin to
533s get an experienced point in crafting uh
536s if you want to in addition to or instead
538s of you could spend two coins to get
539s experience points in gathering or two
541s coins to get experience point in cooking
543s if you want to spend five coins you can
544s do all of the above so which of those
546s three skills would you like to get
547s experience in you can do each one of the
548s ones if you want to
550s i'll tell you what let's go
553s let's spend two coins and we'll get the
555s gathering we'll up my gathering by one
558s yeah okay so we take those two coins
560s away and add an experience point to your
562s gathering skill
569s okay so that's gonna okay
576s perfect okay um do you want to spend any
578s more gold for any other experience or is
580s that i have year 10 nah i think that's
582s me that's me done
584s okay last thing we do because you've
586s explored a capital is the escalation
588s truck gets moved up by once this is kind
589s of like a little bit of a timer so it's
590s just letting you know that the more the
592s more we move around explore the major
594s areas of the game board the escalation
596s token is going to rise up when it gets
597s to the top of this track here and some
599s more stuff from account drain has
600s effectively decided he's gonna gonna
602s have more of an impact on the game
604s experience and come and do some more
605s terrible nasty things outside of draenor
606s village
608s so
608s that's the end of your turn uh so we
610s come to my turn with the night
612s okay so um the second campaign quest
615s we've got speak to dr harlow it says
617s here let's have a read of it it says dr
619s harlow is willing to help you in your
620s quest but first his lips must be wetted
622s by a beard newly brewed an adventurer in
625s varrock with thieving two or more can
627s perform the following action get your
629s hands on a newly brewed beer and then
630s speak to dr harlow by collecting vlog
632s card too so luckily because we've been
634s through like we've we've
637s fast-forwarded the game slightly we've
638s kind of skipped through tutorial island
640s so our characters have got a couple of
641s extra levels and things i already have
643s thieving too because of that tutorial
644s island section
645s um so i'm kind of perfectly poised to go
648s and steal a beer and use it to speak to
650s dr harlow but i need to get to barack so
652s what i'm going to do is i'm going to
653s move from edgeville i'm going to move to
655s the grand exchange and i'm going to
656s explore the grand exchange on my way
658s through
659s so that means i've got to draw one of
661s these exploration cards now you've
663s probably noticed that on the game board
664s the banners are themed in different
666s colors like all the car all of the
667s banners around barrack or yellow all the
669s banners around lumbridge are that kind
671s of like lighter blue darker blue around
673s falador red for birth open green for
675s edgeville this just groups the different
676s areas of the game boards together to see
678s what kind of exploration card you're
679s going to draw it's because i've landed
680s on the yellow region near barrock i'm
681s going to draw a card of the same colour
684s flip it over
687s this is what exploration card looks like
688s now there's quite a lot of information
690s on here but we don't need all of it all
691s we need is because i'm on uh the grand
693s exchange i just need the section that
694s says grand exchange
696s those with a deft hand can often find
698s coins those without so this is going to
700s be a thieving skill test we see on the
702s right hand side here where you've got a
703s three then the skip the skill icon for
706s thieving
707s and then a seven at the bottom so what
709s that means is if my skill is less than
712s three i only get to roll one die because
714s i'm not very good at the test if my
715s skill and thieving is three then i get
717s to roll two dice because i'm quite good
719s at it and if my skill is four or higher
721s it's above three then i get through all
722s three days because i'm really good at
723s thieving in this instance i'm not that
724s good at thieving i'm only skill too
726s because i only get through all one die
727s um
728s the number i've got to roll on that die
730s is seven so if i rolled more dice
732s because i'm really good at thieving i'd
733s have more chances to roll that number
734s seven um
736s but as it is i'm going to roll one so
738s let's pick that guy up give it a roll
740s so actually got seven so i'm successful
742s this time even though i'm not that good
743s as a thief just yet so what happens
745s there is uh the green tick on the um
748s on expiration card says that i gained
750s three coins because i passed the test if
752s i'd failed it i'd have suffered a wound
753s because
754s i've got coffee
756s so as it is i'm gonna get three coins
758s now because i also took a skill test in
761s thieving whether i passed or failed it
763s i'm going to get an experience pointing
764s thieving so even just by taking um
767s skill tests whether you pacify them
768s you're going to get experience which
770s will eventually level up your skills
772s okay
773s so uh
775s the last thing i can do because i've
776s explored the grand exchange uh is i can
778s take some flower because there's a
780s flower icon in the bottom of the ground
781s exchange
783s so let's have some flower resource down

787s okay and that is going to be the end of
788s my turn so i think what we're going to
790s do is we're going to be on to mud light

794s mud lights um you are stood on barrack
797s right now what would you like to do
799s trying to move around somewhere else or
800s do you want to explore baroque

803s it's a really difficult decision i have

808s i could go to barbarian village
810s i could go to farmland i could go to big
814s can i go to the grand exchange or are

823s i'm freaking out honestly it's there's

827s i think i will go to barbarian village

839s so there aren't any currently any quests
841s to perform at barbarian village which
842s means you can explore the province so
844s we'll draw a barbarian village card for
846s you and then we'll flip it over
849s okay and if you could read out the
850s section for barbarian village at the top

854s okay it says show your skill in ranged
856s combat or prepare to defend yourself
859s against skeptical barbarians
863s okay so this is going to be a arranged
866s skill test now
867s you're starting levels because you've
869s you've picked the the wizard character
871s um your signing levels are in magic so
873s you've only got level one in range so
874s you're only gonna get to roll one die at
875s this and then you need to roll a seven
877s or higher so you can pick one of the
879s dice
880s just select it your cursor and then
882s press r okay
884s oh man is my rng on point just one day
887s do i get the orange one as well or just
890s one um just just one of them i mean you
892s can pick any other one of them for now
893s technically the orange one is when you
895s have equipment later on but you can roll
896s any of the ones you like
899s ah okay so we got a four that time
902s oh no that's not gonna pass it's not
904s gonna pass the test it's okay though
906s because you're gonna suffer one wound
908s that's all right you're not dead you can
910s you at least didn't kill you you can
911s suffer more wounds before you actually
912s die
913s um but because you took a skill a skill
916s test in uh ranged you also get an
918s experience point in ranged so let's drop
920s a skill experience point
922s let's see my gains are not lost then
925s those men that is very true
927s okay if you want to you can also
928s actually because the other icon on
930s barbarian village is the ranged icon
933s and you can actually spend some
934s resources to gain some more experience
936s in your range skill if you'd like and
938s you've got some starting amazing
941s you are well you could choose not to i'm
942s just saying you could you could spend
944s some of the fish and the eggs or the
945s cabbage or to
948s to to get experience in ranged or you
949s could go no i'm a mate i'm a wizard i'm
951s not gonna get anything there what would
952s you like to do i'm a wizard i stick with
956s my wizard
957s roots i think
958s um do i just put it into
960s magic
962s uh no so it's gonna so if you so you've
964s um you can gain some experience in range
966s well that's that's it so it's easy
967s choices to do it or to not do it so it's
969s okay too oh so
973s okay um in that case i will use it on
975s range
977s sure so you can spend uh the vegetable
980s you've got the egg or fish you can spend
983s all three of them you can gain up to
984s three if experience points if you want
986s to um if you spend two of them you can
988s actually get enough to gain a whole
989s level
991s how do i spend them again
993s so just how much one's gonna spend and
995s i'll throw away you're just discarding
996s them basically okay
998s let's say you're going to spend it
1000s yeah so we just dropped those tokens
1002s down here
1003s what we then do is we drop some more
1005s experience points onto the character
1006s sheet
1008s so because you've now got all the
1010s experience you need for the ranged skill
1012s we take those experience tokens off
1015s and you've gained a whole level so
1016s you've now gone to rain to level two
1019s arranged so you're much more likely to
1020s roll more dice now when you take range
1022s tests
1025s okay um so that might seem a little bit
1027s strange at first that's why you're sort
1028s of discarding cabbage and fish to gain
1031s levels in in range so um there's a
1034s couple different things at play there we
1035s know that there's a lot of different
1036s ways to scale in the video games like to
1038s for range for example you obviously just
1040s may need to go into combat but maybe for
1042s smithing golfer or for cooking you need
1044s to often need to gain resources and
1046s spend them to gain experience so if
1048s you're cooking something you need to go
1050s and kill a cow and get the meat from it
1051s and then cook it and then you get the
1052s cooking experience as well as the combat
1054s experience so the way in which the
1056s skilling points work in the game here is
1057s we've just said because we've had to
1059s slim down a list of resources quite a
1060s bit because there are so many different
1061s resources in the video games you can
1063s spend any of the resources that you've
1064s got to represent you spending resources
1067s to gain experience through doing
1068s something in the game
1070s does it scale kind of simple
1072s that you are
1074s no no so it still works the same way the
1076s whole way through the game so even if
1077s you were level 98 and you wanted to get
1079s to 99 you'd still be having to get three
1081s experience points and um
1083s and doing that by taking skill tests or
1085s or going to a scaling point as well but
1087s considering 99 is so far away that is
1090s the difficulty in terms of getting there
1091s in the first place and you've got to get
1092s through all the other 98 levels before
1094s you get to 99.
1096s okay so
1097s you've moved to barbarian village and
1098s you've explored so i think that would be
1100s the end of your turn we would then come
1103s back to fraser
1105s cool right so i've had a look at the
1109s cam the campaign and i know that i'm not
1111s going to take part in the
1113s speaking to dr a little bit i'm not
1114s going to be a thief
1116s um but we are going to need someone with
1117s cooking and someone with crafting uh for
1119s the the quest later on so what i want to
1122s do is start to level my cooking
1125s uh fortunately i have a ques a side
1127s quest already the cook's assistant
1130s um and that gives me cooking experience
1133s if i complete it so i'm gonna start
1135s making my way towards completing that
1137s one to do that i'm going to need the
1138s ingredients as listed there uh flour egg
1141s and fruit i've already got flour and
1143s fruit so i just need egg so eggs are in
1146s farmland so i'm going to make my way
1148s towards there to try and get the
1149s ingredients that i need
1151s to
1152s attempt that side quest so i'm going to
1154s move from
1156s general village back to lumbridge and
1158s explore it
1160s so i get
1161s wood immediately
1164s i can decide if i want to get some skill
1168s points in these
1171s so we've got magic
1174s i'm not mage
1176s uh
1177s cooking i am a chef
1180s and defense i think i'm gonna get
1185s spend two coins to get a point
1187s experience point in defense another two
1190s to get an experience point in range
1191s since i am an archer and one experience
1194s to get
1195s one coin to get experience in cooking so
1197s i'm going all in i'm spending all five
1200s five coins
1201s to get
1204s uh
1206s three experience
1211s uh and then
1212s since i've
1213s ended my turn on uh
1216s capital region the escalation track goes
1218s up by
1219s one and that's my turn
1222s okay remember back to matson
1227s okay okay i'm having a look now i just
1230s feel like mod light is gonna be some
1232s sort of chaotic so i thought i'd prep
1234s myself by upgrading my
1236s upper body but i need i need some lever
1240s so can i teleport to barrow that's what
1242s i want to know
1244s you can indeed i'm glad you asked so if
1245s you're too far away from somewhere on
1246s the game board obviously you've seen
1248s only by moving one space at a time it
1249s might take you quite a few turns to get
1250s across there so one of the things you
1252s can do instead is you can spend one gold
1253s coin uh one coin and you can um teleport
1256s to any of the capital regions so that's
1258s the that's specifically berthold falador
1261s edgeville one bridge or barracks you
1262s could turn one coil coin two to one gold
1265s coin to teleporter
1266s all right so that would be that would
1267s work that would work
1269s yeah that would work just as if you move
1270s there normally so
1272s pick your skiller up move to barrock
1275s so when you get there apparently you're
1276s going to explore right
1278s hell yeah
1280s so you can have the leather that you
1282s wanted
1283s it's blurry thank you
1285s let's drop that across um and if you
1287s want to you can well say if you want so
1289s you could spend gold to gain more
1290s experience but you just spent all your
1291s gold teleporting there so i think you're
1294s alcohol for the time being um
1297s okay but as you pointed out you've now
1299s got enough resources to try and have a
1300s go upgrading your starting equipment so
1303s mud sign has got
1304s a leather body card as the starting
1306s equipment so it says there to upgrade
1308s the resources you need two leather a
1310s metal and a thread and you're basically
1311s going to be taking that crafting skill
1312s test to try and upgrade it
1314s so your crafting level currently is two
1316s because the complexity is two you're the
1318s same as it you get to roll two dice you
1319s need to get a six or higher on any one
1321s of those to pass the skill test
1325s all right let's go and i have a question
1327s why did you not draw a yellow card
1330s can you explain that yeah absolutely so
1333s uh the exploration cards are for the uh
1335s what we call the province regions those
1337s are the smaller banners on the game
1338s board um
1340s those are kind of the areas of the of
1342s asgardian missile in where
1344s they're a little bit um wouldn't
1346s necessarily say like less safe but
1348s they're more random as to what's going
1349s to occur you could run into an npc you
1351s could run into um someone wanting help
1353s or a black knight could attack you
1355s that's more likely to happen out on the
1356s road in the smaller areas of the game
1357s world when you go to a capital region um
1360s they are a little bit more consistent as
1362s to what you're going to get out of them
1363s um so you're not as as likely to be used
1365s to be jumped on or set up on by bandits
1367s or black knights etcetera that's why we
1368s don't draw
1369s an s exploration card is because they're
1372s more sort of consistent than we to
1373s expectancy
1375s cheers things
1378s so uh i didn't see did you pass the test
1381s i did i did
1383s awesome stuff okay so we go back to the
1385s leather body card and we can read what
1387s the card says at the bottom so it says
1389s um collect a vault card 20 discard all
1392s the resources listed above that's
1394s because you passed the test so we'll
1395s discard those to
1397s leather
1398s the metal and thread and then we're just
1400s going to replace that leather body card
1402s with the studded body because you made
1404s it better
1407s i'm ready for mod light now that's the
1408s main thing
1412s i know this is a co-op game but i still
1413s want to smoke you guys at this game and
1416s beat all of you and get to 99. oh um i
1419s did have a question as well what is the
1421s point like what is the main objective of
1423s the game is it just to get through all
1425s of the
1426s um
1428s objectives here at vampire slayer
1430s objectives
1432s yes that's so the campaign's how you
1434s progress the main game and eventually
1436s like complete the game um the reason we
1438s have those campaign objectives is
1440s because the game is built in such an
1442s open world or sandbox you style away
1443s that you've got so many different
1444s choices of how you can scale your
1445s character up and how you can gain
1446s equipment and craft new equipment and
1448s stuff like that
1450s that we needed to have the campaign
1451s boards in here as a campaign system to
1453s give you like a defined start and end
1454s point to the game experience
1456s so yeah
1457s once you've complete yeah what exactly
1459s once you've once you've completed
1460s everything on the campaign board you can
1461s play the campaign once you've completed
1463s all the campaigns you've won the game
1466s okay how many campaigns are there
1469s there are four in the call box uh and
1471s there are there are extra campaigns in
1473s the expansions as well so there are four
1475s of these you can play through uh just in
1476s the call box alone uh before you even
1478s have any connections
1480s oh okay um
1482s yeah if you're if you're playing um
1485s if you're playing it kind of like a
1486s reasonable pace that's something like
1488s that all of those four campaigns
1489s together is something like 12 hours
1491s worth of game time so you're not
1492s expecting to do all that at once of
1494s course which is why it's important that
1495s this is a game that's designed to be
1496s able to be played a little bit play for
1498s an hour or so if you want to play more
1500s than play more if not then you can pack
1501s it away in the box with your game in you
1503s know in in play as it is um you'll be
1506s able to pack away your tokens and your
1507s cards etc your character probably has so
1509s that when you next play the game you can
1510s pull the game out and carry on from
1512s where you left off last time and just
1513s carry on through your campaign
1516s and i imagine like you can
1518s have people over every weekend kind of
1520s doing it and yeah just have fun
1523s progressing your
1526s shadow available

1560s diet to it and have a better chance of

1568s leather body card on complexity two one
1569s or two whereas this is like you can use
1571s it for more complicated tests tests
1576s also because you've taken a crafting
1578s skill test you're getting experience in

1829s those equipment cards out i'll set the

1885s yeah you'll be gaining some bigger
1886s chunks
1887s you'll be getting bigger chunks of
1888s experience by picking up some of the
1890s side quests so
1891s these cards are over here um these are
1893s completely optional they don't help you
1895s get through the main game in terms of
1896s the campaign board but if you say play
1898s through gertrude's cat or goblin
1900s diplomacy you'll get quite a lot of
1901s experience all at once if you complete a
1903s goblin diplomacy there it'll give you a
1904s big chunk of like five experience points
1906s in thieving as well as some gold just
1907s for completing it
1909s so they're a good way of sort of jumping
1910s forward your skill levels a little bit
1911s quicker
1912s um than just just moving around the
1915s regular game board you see
1921s right so do we have to stay tell us a
1922s bit more about the
1924s the the minifigs that are on offer at
1926s the moment
1928s yeah absolutely so um this is just these
1931s are just
1931s like a small selection of the ones that
1933s are in the core game box i believe
1934s they're actually five no i believe there
1936s are five different player avatars um for
1938s the lower level characters and i think
1940s what we did today is we actually
1941s revealed we'll have a look at that a
1942s little bit later in stream but we
1943s revealed our first miniature for a
1946s higher leveled uh player avatar today so
1948s what'll happen as you're playing through
1949s the game is you'll hit a certain point
1950s in the game's campaign where it'll tell
1953s you to upgrade your miniature
1955s so um
1957s one of the ones i think we shot off
1958s today was the the dragon night miniature
1960s which is the higher leveled up version
1962s of the night miniature that i've been
1962s playing with so whereas you start off
1964s with your bronze armor your bronze kite
1966s shield and and bronze equipment there
1968s you go uh you'll instead level up and
1970s have your your dragon knight to play
1971s with later on
1972s so you can have some much more
1973s prestigious armor you've got your fire
1974s cape as well to show off like how
1976s awesome you've been in all the
1977s achievements you've made
1978s um we'll have a leveled up player avatar
1980s for all of the player character in the
1981s game so you'll start with say like a
1983s your your wizard will start off with
1985s your your staff of air and your um and
1988s your blue wizard ropes um and then
1990s you'll level up to a character with much
1991s higher level equipment so you can show
1993s off to people
1994s okay um in addition to that we've also
1996s got quite a few different boss
1997s miniatures in the game so at the moment
1999s we've got uh count draenor
2001s that we're playing against at the moment
2002s but i believe we also showed off another
2004s boss manager today who was delawareth uh
2006s which means that we're going to be
2007s playing through the demon slayer
2009s campaign as one of the campaigns you
2010s play through once you've progressed past
2012s vampire slayer
2013s you'll get to play against darwin is the
2015s boss fight there
2016s um
2018s so uh and yeah we've got quite a few
2020s more to show off yet we definitely
2020s haven't shown them all off um we're also
2023s i think in the
2024s let's give you a little spoiler as well
2025s because we haven't shown it yet so we're
2027s in the expansion content we're also
2029s going to be bringing in some um
2031s some miniatures for npcs as well some of
2033s the more famous non-player characters um
2036s i won't give away exactly who that is
2037s just yet but be prepared to see some of
2039s your favorite non-player characters in
2040s miniature form too

2054s so the kickstarter is going to be
2055s launching on the 31st of may um that's

2071s kickstarter campaign which means that
2072s you'll be getting your hands on the copy

2172s equipped with the stake hammer and the

2175s so your job will be to drive home the
2178s stake and try and stop them from
2179s regenerating uh while also um
2183s when it when the time if if and when the
2185s time comes uh pry is coughing open
2189s uh james i i like it you
2192s uh some melee points uh and some defense
2194s points uh so you're gonna be a tank for
2197s the group
2198s chuck you cheated
2205s yeah yeah that's what we did
2207s um it's fast forwarding when we do it
2210s i've given myself some reigns experience
2213s uh i've upgraded my short bow i've also
2215s got some thieving and some gathering
2217s experience
2219s and mod light i've given you four
2222s uh magic experience and the wreath of
2225s garlic which helps you defend if kevin
2227s drainer attacks you

2232s okay so let's have a little look here at
2234s how a boss fight would work so let's
2235s like we said before we've now completed
2237s all the rest of the steps in the
2237s campaign we're ready for our boss
2239s encounter with count draenor so how this
2241s works is we bring over our um
2244s our reference sheet for the boss fights
2245s just over onto the right hand side a
2246s little bit there
2248s and this will tell you all the
2249s information you need to know for your
2250s boss fight it tells you how to set it up
2251s it tells you the different actions you
2253s can make during the boss fight so these
2254s are skill tests like we had before on
2256s the main game board so it's a really
2258s good idea to level up your skills
2259s because the higher your skill levels are
2260s the better you're going to perform with
2261s your skill tests which involve like
2263s attacking can't train or or changing the
2265s order of whose turn gets to go next and
2267s moving people around
2269s to push them out of the way of can't
2270s train or uh if they're about to be
2271s attacked it also tells you what happens
2273s when you win if you're defeated
2275s um and what happens when katrina gets
2277s quite angry in the middle of the fight
2279s if he realizes he's starting to lose
2281s so uh if we just pan over to the left a
2283s little bit more we'll have a look at the
2284s initiative track which is just below the
2286s boss fight so this is a row of cards
2288s it's going to tell us who gets to go
2289s first so this is randomly drawn and you
2292s draw an initiative card for a player
2293s character so this is my initial card of
2295s the night then we got a behavior card
2296s for current draenor and then there's
2297s another initiative card and we keep
2299s going like that and they're into space
2301s so what will happen here is i will take
2303s my first turn
2304s once i've taken my turn can't drain i
2306s would go next and we'll work through the
2307s cards left to right
2310s okay um
2311s so what we're going to do is i'm going
2312s to show you an example turn with my
2313s knight
2315s uh what i can do during my turn on the
2317s boss board is just like on the campaign
2318s board i can move one space um i can move
2322s either up
2323s or to the left and right you can't move
2325s diagonally um so i can move on to the
2327s same space as kandra now i'm going to
2329s hit him with a melee attack
2331s so using the reference sheet we had
2333s earlier
2334s um you can see if i'm making a melee
2336s attack here it says that it's complexity
2338s 5 and i need to roll eights but each die
2340s that rolls on eight or higher is going
2342s to put a damage onto can't drain off
2344s okay so my skill in melee at the moment
2347s is three which means i'm only gonna get
2348s to roll one diet or something because
2350s i'm not a super great melee i also don't
2352s have the steak stakeholders

2453s really good at defending myself not so

2764s health back so rations is for giving
2765s your health back in a boss fight cooked

2983s edges you can't move diagonally um
2985s okay so you're a little bit too far away
2987s to use the stake at the moment but so
2989s what what you would do here is you'd
2990s move to one of the sides and you'd
2992s probably attack with ranged or or magic
2995s you could still do that even if your
2996s skills aren't particularly high but
2997s let's have a look at what would have
2998s happened if you were close enough let's
2999s pretend the caltrainer was there we'll
3001s cheat for a second
3002s um and then you were close enough to run
3004s and run and use the stake
3006s let's go straight at him no whole bars
3009s let's go so um the melee skill test is
3012s normally quite difficult it's complexity
3014s five you did roll with eight but if we
3016s have a look at the stake card
3018s state card says when an adventurer makes
3020s a melee attack against can't drain or
3022s the complexity is too lower and the
3023s target number is three lower so actually
3025s it's on the complexity of three
3027s and you need to draw fives instead of
3028s eights which means you're gonna get to
3029s roll three dice and any of them they're
3031s all fives cause damage it's much much
3033s easier than when i was trying to attack
3034s count draynor before with my my puny
3037s mele3
3043s you got it you nailed it so oh you
3045s staked it rather so you got two damage
3046s into the counter right now
3049s okay
3050s um so the reason that's why that's
3052s important is because there are some of
3053s count draenor's attacks in fact he's
3055s actually going to come up with it next
3056s uh regenerate so one you've ended your
3058s turn caldrain is going to do is
3059s regenerate behavior which says that
3061s count draenor heals a wound if he was
3062s wounded by a melee attack made by an
3064s adventurer equipped with the stake of
3065s this round this effect is not applied so
3067s because you've damaged him with the
3068s steak he doesn't get to heal his wound
3070s at all
3071s um
3072s he's going to move on to the coffin
3073s terrain
3075s and then he's going to attack me because
3077s i'm the person that stood there he
3078s attacks anybody in the same space as him
3080s so i'm going to take my defense test
3084s and i need to roll a seven
3085s on my three dice
3087s because my defense skill is quite high
3090s let's run all three of them
3092s bellamire you nailed it you know oh that
3095s was awesome i got it all three times the
3097s deal was a tense by the way so there's a
3098s ten a ten and eight so we passed it
3100s doesn't matter i only needed to get one
3101s but just showing off apparently
3103s um so my character didn't take any
3104s damage okay so that would be the end of
3106s the round we could just come back down
3108s to the initial track again we've been
3109s through all these cards so what we do
3111s now to continue the boss fight is we
3112s pick up the initiative cards and we
3114s shuffle them we'd pick up the boss
3116s behavior cards we shuffle those we'd
3117s relay out a new initiative track and
3119s we'd go again from left to right so
3120s there's gonna be a different player
3121s order and a different sequence of boss
3124s behaviors
3124s um
3126s what would happen if we really started
3127s to damage count draenor quite a lot and
3129s got him down to five health or less um
3131s is that's where his enraged mechanic
3133s would come in so that's why he's
3134s realized he started to lose the fight
3135s now uh he jumps back into his coffin
3137s seals the coffin behind him and starts
3139s to regenerate health
3140s um and this is why it's super important
3142s to have someone in your team with a high
3144s crafting skill even though we're in a
3145s boss fight um you use that crafting
3147s skill to sort of just wedge open the
3149s coffin again so if we flip that card
3151s over that's on the boss fight he jumps
3153s into the coffin um and he says then you
3156s take that crafting test to open the
3157s coffin again and even continue having
3158s the boss fight and if you don't have a
3159s high crafting skill you might never get
3161s the coffin open he'll just regenerate
3162s all of his health back
3163s um well while you're trying to get the
3165s coffin open all of these bones cards in
3167s the corners of the boss might have also
3168s flipped over and they've become
3170s skeletons and you've got to take down
3171s the skeletons uh before you can even
3175s go and try and get that coffin open and
3176s get can't drain her out of there
3179s once you've taken down all the skeletons
3181s and got the coffin open and fought and
3183s you'd carry on fighting can't drano
3184s until either he gets to zero health or
3186s you do and that would be the end of the
3187s boss fight
3189s um
3190s so
3191s in terms of the boss mechanics we've
3193s themed this one quite heavily around how
3195s you'll fight with character in our girls
3197s in in the crypts below draenor manor
3199s we've um we've iterated on it a little
3200s bit because i don't think there's
3201s actually skeletons down there in the
3203s video games but it makes sense that
3204s there could be because you know he's a
3205s vampire in the day and he's going to be
3208s equipped with lots of bones so um
3211s this fight is themed heavily around
3213s what's going on there in that in that
3214s crypt fight but you know future boss
3216s fights say against delris which is the
3218s miniature we saw earlier that boss fight
3219s is themed around what actually happens
3221s in demon slayer where you're going to be
3222s having those dark wizards trying to
3224s summon him with a ritual you've got to
3225s take down and deal with the dark wizards
3228s as well as eventually fighting delriff
3229s himself
3230s um and then you know when it comes to
3232s facing elvark towards the end of the
3233s core game
3234s again you've got a very different boss
3236s fight there with your action list themed
3238s around what happens in the elverg fight
3240s and you know trying to avoid being hit
3241s by those flame blasts and things that
3243s are going on in that cave so um so yeah
3246s they're very different from one to the
3247s next um
3248s and yeah so that brings us to the end of
3251s this very quick look at the uh runescape
3253s kingdoms demo now we've had a look all
3254s the different mechanics that there are
3256s in the game or most of the simple ones
3257s anyway um if people have got more
3259s questions about how this game works uh i
3261s think mozart you read out a lot of
3262s information before we can go through it
