Hey guys, thanks for such a great response to AKD! It was great looking over your feedback and hearing how you found it. :)

We've discused some of your initial feedback this morning and updated the Newspost with some of the most relevant changes and issues. Take a look and let us know what you think, it's in the table at the top of the Newspost.

We'd like to invite you to give us further feedback, particularly around the Harmonsied Staff and Arceuus Spells, so that we can improve accordingly. Please let us know your suggestions in this post and we will review as a team.

Yeah. Although most players I've seen feel it is absolutely fine, we admit we didn't make it clear enough in the blog and so we would feel more comfortable re-polling it to preserve the integrity of the polling system.

We'll do better in future to communicate XP rates when they interact with other items ingame.

Could you offer a bit more detail as to why the attack range makes it less viable? What would you suggest we change?

I don't think it's fair to remove an existing meta of bones from hellhounds/bloodvelds converting to prayer just because abyssal demon/necryael barraging distorts this advantage significantly. Allow Ash to restore prayer but give it a cool down of sorts that matches the speed of your typical melee kill in afk prayer gear.

Interesting idea and one that we have briefly considered when it came to discussing feedback today. We came to the agreement that adding a cooldown for Prayer XP feels a little bit strange - it's not something we've really done before, feels a little forced. Plus the benefits of the Ash Sanctifier have already received feedback that it might be too strong. We're open to what the community thinks, and we'll use this post to review further player feedback on it.

???

Also where are the undead lizardmen?

So I probably simplified it too much in the Newspost, I have a better way of explaining the issue here from the wonderful Mod Arcane:

In certain pieces of PvM content like Nightmare, the Harmonised Staff is worth using because other spellbooks were not as useful. Sang staff is a one of our best staves, lets pretend its damage is 10 . Harmonised staff is even better damage, lets say its 11. But now Thralls offer quite a lot of damage at most pieces of content now, lets say damage is 2.

Because you can use sang and thralls together, and you can't use harm + thralls together, that means generally now its better to just use sang + thralls (12) instead of using harm at 11. Although the Harmonised Staff is still technically a better magic weapon, because you can't use thralls with them it suffers in viability and some players feel it's dead content at Nightmare where it was used a lot.

We'd like to invite players to consider what we should change to preserve the utility of the Harmonised Staff whilst also preserving a good balance within the game and not affecting metas too much.

Anyone know where this is happening?

We've seen reports of this happening in Nightmare. I'll edit this reply with some more exact numbers, just getting them now.

Hey, /u/JagexLight loved the quest! I am curious though, is it intended that there be no NPC manning Veos' boat docked in port sarim? Lands end and piscarilius locations both have an NPC to travel with, and you can go TO port sarim, there's just no way to travel FROM there.

Thank you so much for the kind feedback. This was a bug, we noticed this just as the changes went live and put out a hotfix for it.

I don't understand this one, the Arceuus Spellbook is also a weapon you can equip? You can't use Harmonised Staff with the new Spellbook?

It's important that was action feedback changes following the release of larger content updates to ensure the quality matches player expectations. If we did nothing, then players may feel forced into waiting until the changes have been made before experiencing the content, and that's never fun when something new and exciting has been released.

We've been continuing to revisit old content and make changes where possible, this can be seen in our larger polls such as the recent Poll 75. We will always listen to player feedback, sorry if some changes come slower than you would like to see them.

This is duplicated, you probably want to remove one to make it read better.

Zalcano isn't dropping Infernal Ashes.

Gonna skip doing the boss for a week. Is the intention that only the MVP gets infernal ashes or does everyone?

Thank you for your feedback. We'll make a quick update to clarify in the blog this is only for the MVP.

If anything this makes the meta more stale as sang+thrall beats harm basically everywhere now

This is the opposite of adding variety. This is one spell/staff combo taking over the meta for a lot of end game magic pvm.

If you guys have any suggestions for the team, let us know! Could really use your expertise.

New summons seems to be a bit buggy.

I was hoping to be a breakthrough for me on my ironman to start Zulrah but that summon seems to be not attacking more often than not. I would understand if zulrah is on another side of platform but they dont attack even from position they can reach it. And sometimes they stand on same tile for 10sec doing nothing, then randomly starts attacking boss (without moving a tile at all!!)

edit: but overall I am happy with new update. New ashes seems like a huge addition. I just wish I had more regular supply of wrath runes on my iron (got 250 from vorkath on 250 kills). But it completely change praying training for many many irons (and not only irons).

edit2: Vile vigour (prayer conversion to run energy) is kinda useless. only thing people can think of is perhaps zmi running but you would need to make tabs for that to work.

grasp spells are twice as effective with mark of darkness. So if undead grasp is 2.4sec with 50% chance. mark of darkness doubles both of these?

9/10 update, ty!

That's really valuable feedback, thank you. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Noted, thanks.

Is it possible for Thralls to follow you into instances? Currently, if you summon the thrall outside of Zulrah and board the boat, the thrall will be despawned and you'll be forced to resummon the thrall once actually on the island.

I found the ghost thrall to not really follow much which lead to the thrall getting stuck and not actually contributing quite often, I'm not entirely sure what's the best plan to fix this. I'm thinking if you tighten the leash range the ghost will move more and would also lower the dps output of the ghost in high movement areas of the game. I was honestly hoping I could at least manually call the thrall over like a pet but unfortunately you cannont.

I would assume it's limited and would not be able to follow into instances however I'll double check on that when I talk to the development team. I've seen reports from other players saying it feels a little buggy sometimes, so will continue to monitor it and see. Good ideas though! Thanks

I love the new update! Everything about it! But, as I was doing the quest and walking through Kourend, a lot of the areas feel like they're still a bit "bare".

I'll give you one example: the "border" between northern wintertodt area and arceuus is just flat land with nothing on it. Not even a rock. I feel like it needs some foliage or cliffs or anything that won't make the area look easily walkable. There are more, but this is example stands out the most for me.

And the new Shayzien, OMG <3 I'm in love with it. People say it stands out too much because it's so much nicer/has so much more detail but I think there's nothing wrong with it. In my opinion, you stayed true to the OS style except you turned it up to 11. I am hoping other areas in Kourend (and more?) will receive similar treatment.

<3

Thanks so much! Yeah I certainly hope so, perhaps we can discuss this further with the art team on a stream sometime and get their take on it. I'm sure they'd love to talk about it <3

It seems like the thralls won’t attack “Melee” phase Zulrah until you damage (not splash) it. Other phases the Thrall will attack as soon as you do provided it doesn’t get stuck.

Much appreciated, I'll bring this up tomorrow to see if we can improve.

Weird that the Arceuus Spellbook is out-DPS'ing the Harmonised Staff, which is an INCREDIBLY powerful item, so the solution is to instead buff the staff to out-DPS the spellbook again.

I understand why it has done it, but creating a balance problem via a game update, to which then the logical solution is to buff the BIS mage weapon is quite rediculous. Potentially buffing the Harmonised should have been polled in accordance with the thrall releasing, etc.

I can confirm that any changes we make to the Harmonised Staff would be polled. We're hoping to find a suggestion or solution that most players are happy with. If most players don't want us to make changes then we don't have to.
