They have you get used to or condition you to a league mechanic for 3 months and with Legacy even more than that because it was prolonged and then you have what is years of the community who grew to enjoy that content asking when it will be back. Had they figured out how to balance it in the game correctly in the first place none of this would be an issue. And then you have people actually defending this behavior... It's not like Legacy offered that much if you reflect on it, but just the mechanic of being able to get keys to unlock a chest including something truly special feels unique at least about the game and them taking it away just feels like a cop-out for putting in the work for making the content go core.
I mean seriously, who can you name in the industry that does this much cutting of content? And it all piles up over time the more they try to do it. Or they tell you they "brought back" the content when it's nothing as it was originally so it's not even the same content anymore, yet they want you to feel that it is and be content with it. Very depressing when you think about it, most other game companies at least honor people's time and investment into the content they ended up enjoying when it comes to stuff like this.
To be fair, how many games make enough content they can consider cutting some of it? I also remember that while a lot of people loved the Legacy League, there were a fair number of people who felt like it required too much micromanagement to keep track of their leaguestones.
The reason there's very little access to the Ancient Reliquary is quite deliberate because it provides unique items with legacy values, which were all rebalanced as part of conscious design decisions. Having said that, I can certainly empathise with how it can feel crappy when something you enjoy goes away.
