Couldn't find a post about this so decided to make one just in case people haven't realised. A few days ago there was a post praising GGG for making the blood bar stop moving when you fight bosses. I read that post, thinking that this is a great feature, but I was a bit confused because I had already encountered a krangleboss once and the bar didn't stop. The comments suggested things like the effect not starting immediately, so I chalked it up to that.

However, two kranglebosses later and I finally figured out how it actually works. The blood bar stops moving for a second or two every time you HIT the boss. The reason I was having problems with it? I'm playing with Bane as my main skill atm, and that doesn't have a hit component to it. I finally managed to kill a krangleboss just now by wanding it once a second while weaving in banes in between. It worked, but a great experience it was not.

So yeah, this post goes out to all my fellow damage over time chads whose friends are telling them the blood bar stops when they fight the boss. You're not going crazy, you're just playing a build that doesn't hit the enemy.

Finally, if anyone from GGG happens to read this, please PLEASE consider making the blood bar also stop, say, when you're in close proximity of the boss. The current behavior works well for most builds, but is absolutely awful for damage over time builds. Unless you have the dps to just burst the boss down, you're forced to resort to things like wand spamming, and it makes for extremely unenjoyable gameplay.

Edit: I forgot to clarify, but before we have further proof, this is just a theory on my part. All I know for a fact is that Death Aura (from Death's Oath) and Bane do not stop the blood bar, while wand hits do. The logical conclusion seems to be that you need to hit the boss, but this could be wrong (or there could be other things that also make the blood bar stop). If you have any additional info, please do share it in the comments so we can work out the exact requirements!

It works for any skill type. It pauses for five seconds for every 5% of life lost by the boss - so at 95%, 90%, 85% etc. The pauses don't stack. So if for example you get the boss to 50% life very quickly, it would still only pause for 5 seconds rather than 50.
