We've spent a tonne of time investigating this. We tried to reproduce it internally and weren't able to. We scoured the code and found no issues. Earlier this week I asked people who were experiencing this to send me their accounts so that we could look at their specific cases to see if something unusual was happening. In two of those cases, the players messaged me afterwards to say that they'd found those masters since. In all of those cases, we tested dozens of maps on their accounts and found that all masters had spawned.

Right now one of our sys-admins is working on a script to scan the instance logs of these accounts so that we can see exactly how many masters have spawned for them and which ones. This is taking a while so it's unlikely we'll see results until early Monday.

The rate that masters appear naturally in maps is 10% and therefore 2% per master. Maps are also limited to one master at a time. This means that if you're forcing masters to spawn through the use of Atlas missions, Sextants or Prophecies, a master will not be able to spawn naturally for that given map. (Cassia and Tane are not masters.) This means that if you're not forcing masters to spawn at all and you run say 50 maps, you might only see each master once or perhaps more or less based on your luck.

It's possible that they are simply rarer than people expect but I'm hoping the results from the logs on Monday can help shine more light on the situation because it's definitely a concern that so many people are reporting this. I'll follow up on Monday and let you know the results as soon as I can.

If this ends up being a complete duff on the player's end with just RNG being perceived as a bug, can I formally request that the spawn rate is look at? Or at least the accrual rate from map bosses.

All I can be absolutely sure of as regards myself and others is that it currently feels quite bad.

Yeah, I can't confirm that but it would definitely be worth raising the question.

Is it possible that it is another "seeding" issue? I recall a past seeding issue being difficult to reproduce. I have seen master missions myself but the weight of Cassia far more than the others and would go as far to say as 90% more than any others.

Edit: TiL Cassia doesn't share a spawn chance with actual masters. My bad!

Cassia isn’t a master. She has a 10% chance to spawn so she is five times more likely to spawn than any specific master. She can also spawn alongside masters.

In ssf I level'd 3 characters, level 93, 91 and 80 and found once or twice niko. I have run several hundreds of maps but i never get Niko. All my delve juice is literally coming from dailys.

It's not a huge problem, but i like delving :( My strategy now is to spam easy maps to kill the boss and get a mission.

EDIT: I get Cassia every 2 maps or so, sometimes a legion or abyss. But never Alva, Jun, Einhar or Niko.
EDIT2: I assumed it was a nerve to old content, but delving is my fav part of the game. Still waiting on a release date for Path of delve.

There's around a 35-45% chance to get a master mission when you complete a map which means it should be the main source of master missions over masters spawning in the wild. Blight (Cassia), Legion and Abyss each have a 10% chance to spawn in maps and can spawn alongside each other (and alongside masters) so they will be relatively common. You have a 10% chance to spawn a master in the wild if your map does not have a master through the use of Atlas missions, Sextants or Propechies. These systems do not interact with each other so you're not more or less likely to see a master because you've seen Blight, Abyss or Legion.

Literally just hearing anything is being done means the world to me. Silence is deafening, and even hearing "hey guys, we know it's broken and were trying but we have no cue what sup" goes a long way with the people who are fed up.

I will also say, to throw more anecdotal information in there -- I get Cassia and Tane more than any master, and I do get all masters EXCEPT einhar. I have not gotten a single einhar that wasn't from a scarab or master mission, not once since mapping that I have noticed. But the rest do show up -- however in lower numbers than I've seen in any previous league.

Cassia and Tane are not masters.

We have wednesday. Bex, did get any news regarding this ?

I don't have any major news about this yet. We are still getting more data so that we can be really comprehensive but so far we haven't found a single case where players weren't able to spawn masters, the outlying cases where no masters have spawned naturally have been when players have run fewer than 20 maps and it's likely to just be bad luck in those instances. We'd still prefer to analyse a larger sample size before saying anything definitively so we'll do that this evening and in the morning and then I hope I can say something about it again.
