I have been playing daily since it came out. I play domination, 15 bots, on crazy. It’s sort of my coffee meditation in the morning. There have been some trying times post updates. Like the bot cloak spam-a-lot days and catapults-a-go-go. Those times were brutal.

But this new update is just trash. Economy is just gone. You can’t build up cities, defend, and also whittle away at another aspect.

The naval aspect is crap. Being forced to only upgrade rafts in your zone is just stupid. You can not react defensively when a tribe comes from the cloud of war to attack. You send out a scout and can’t use it for defense later.

You can’t mount an attack until you build up a force, but all your ships get jammed in your zone. If you are in close quarters, forget about naval warfare. Forget about sending a raft without upgrading it since it’s cannon fodder as a sole unit and you can’t upgrade it out at sea.

The splash damage and the giant units naval attack as it moves is devastatingly bad. I will get in fights with a tribe and not want to agro another. But moving the giant or using a bomber defeats this. I often am fighting a tribe with another tribe sort of helping me or not even engaged with me. This is especially true when tribes are separated by small channels of water. If I move a giant naval, hit my partner and now they are attacking me. If I shoot my bomber and it hits my partner, they turn on me. Sure, you say use diplomacy. But guess what, I have never had a bot ever accept my offer of diplomacy. If they don’t offer, forget it. And it’s too costly of tech for no benefit.

The game is now a slow slog of defender walls and catapults.

We are looking into Splash/Stomp hitting certain units, but we do want you to be careful with them.

The reason we wanted Rafts to only be upgraded in your territory is so that you plan ahead a little when making a navy. We don't like the idea ofnyou keeping a ton of rafts just outside a battle an upgrading them to fill your navy composition on the fly. If you dont build enough Rammers, thats on you. This was actually one of the more popular new features during beta testing!

You guys gotta help us folks trying to do 100,000+ perfection. It was already hard enough, and the removal of ports has made it, from what I can tell, basically impossible. Economies are impossible to truly grow.

We didn't remove Ports.

We just spread their resources to other places. Should all work out the same as before mathematically.

That being said, we're keeping an eye on things.

You should be able to convert (at a cost) a naval unit into another. Say I think I need rammers. I make a couple and send them out only to undo the fog of war and see I don’t need them. It was a waste. Or another time I make scouts and send them out. Now I uncover the fog and see rammers coming. I’m screwed. I can’t react when the rammers wipe out my scouts and then destroy all my new ships in ports.

You should probably begin any exploration with Scouts first, as that is their job.

Thankfully, they're pretty cheap. :)
