I have just confirmed that this will be fixed in a PC update, with a deployment target of next week, and Y4S1.1 for Consoles.

My Platoon Sergeant always said I was the fastest fat kid he'd ever seen.

Size doesn't equal speed!

It does vary a bit based on which edition of the game you have (i.e. Deluxe/Gold/Ultimate)! Do you both have the exact same one though?

Edit: A bit of miscomms on my part, apologies! The sound pack from different regions do differ in size is what I was thinking about. But I'm guessing you both use the same language as well? We'll keep an eye out for more reports like this!

We’ve made a number of changes and updates over the course of the Burnt Horizon Season Test Server. Below you will find a list of changes and updates.

To help optimize player experience for future updates, we are also in the process of restructuring how our game data is stored – this will help consolidate and reduce the overall game size. This means that the Burnt Horizon Patch will be larger than normal. Patch sizes for each platform will be provided prior to maintenance.

GAMEPLAY LEAN SPAM CAMERA PLACEMENT
  • Previous camera placement at a full lean allowed players to fire without being completely exposed. As part of our fix to counteract lean spamming, we are shifting the camera to the center of the head instead of the far side of the head, even when at a “full lean”.

I guess it would depend on how you define "a while", but there is additional infrastructure required to prepare Azure for managing a game like Rainbow Six, beyond the standard Azure capabilities.

With this in mind, while there may be Azure servers live right now in South Africa, it does not mean that everything is ready for a Rainbow Six data center.

It is something we are still very much planning on doing, and are eagerly looking forward to providing an improved game play experience in South Africa.

So even with the server being live I still suspect that it will be a while before we actually see it in use with Rainbow 6

This is really well done! Love the details like the burn marks!

There are always seasonal uniform sets for the whole team, so you can at least look forward to that.

I see your point. I'm just venting. I just wish people wouldn't quit, it ruins the fun sometimes. Ur right, its casual no punishments should be brought upon. You guys know what you're doing.

I know what you mean, it's very frustrating to have teammates drop out frequently.

I recommend finding some regular squadmates you can rely on and play with, that usually solves many problems solo-queuers will deal with regularly.

I'm not sure if they've thought about changing that system.

I get your point, but I also think it's good that the system recognizes your best, rather than your last, placement. It lets you feel pride in the highest point you were able to climb to, rather than where you ended up at the very end of the season.

I'm guessing you're talking about casual there, and I have to personally disagree.

Not only is casual stake-less, (as in, no one is risking their ELO/ranking during a casual match) but we also have a "join-in-progress" system to fill holes in a casual team.

I understand the frustration with having to play at a disadvantage, but I don't think that forcing a player to stay in a casual match by threat of punishments is the way to go — why would you want a player who has already completely given up on the match to be forced to stay when you could get a new player who probably actually wants to play the match.

Forcing players to stay just seems like an invitation/catalyst for toxicity to bubble up.

If you're talking about Ranked — they do get punished. They'll receive a temporary ban from matchmaking, have the match considered a loss, and also receive a renown penalty.

If you're talking about casual — I don't think the team wants to punish players for leaving casual matches. Seems a bit unnecessary.

I understand that.

Yes, the new system will now come into effect immediately after a team kill, but it's that first team kill that causes all your issues because it's easily abusable.

No system is perfect but the changes do not address the issue at all, they simply change what the punishment is for team killing.

So while I do appreciate the effort being made by Ubisoft, it has to be pointed out that the effort will be largely ineffective if it's even effective at all. The developers involved in this are essentially wasting their time when they could be working on something much more effective.

The "buffer for accidents" is the entire problem and is what allows for the toxicity to occur and a system needs to be put in place that discourages and can punish the first team kill.

And as I said elsewhere, If I were to run a red light or dent another drivers car by accident I would expect to be punished for doing so.

If I teamkill by accid...

A feature that lets you insta-kick someone for an accidental (or forced) TK would be just as abusable as the current or suggested reflective damage systems. A troll would just be able to force you to accidentally TK them, as they already do, and you'll then immediately be punished for that.

With the reflective damage system, that first TK is no longer "free" because you're immediately sanctioned for the rest of the match.

Comment

There is currently a buffer in place to account for accidental TKs, you can TK 1 time in a match and not face a penalty. Accidents happen.

With the change, you'll now enter a special sanctioned status after that 1st TK, so now you won't even be able to damage your teammates, let alone TK another person. So there will still be a buffer for accidents, but now that 1st TK is not completely "free".

It's not a perfect, fix-all solution for toxicity but it is the next step that the team is implementing in the process.

I played it on N64 because I found a copy of it, though not sure I'd recommend that as the preferred console to play it on.
