I know that Mod Spear left the company, but is there any link to there not being any recent streams with Mod Jack's sudden disappearance? He has not been present on this sub since August 30th and apart from a few comments yesterday hasn't been present on the Discord since August 29th either.

I wrote about this before, but it feels like Jagex is trying to win a war of attrition with the community.

Howdy - As Sakirth has said, we will be joined by the wise Mod Druid in the coming weeks, and Mod Spear has moved on to an exciting new opportunity. In the interim, we're pretty busy and we've been able to keep up communication through our blogs, Reddit, Discord and the-website-formerly-known-as-Twitter.

Mod Jack was chatting to players in the Lore section of the Discord into the late hours of yesterday evening, so I'm not entirely sure where the theory around their disappearance has come from.

In any case: We'll be back to normal pretty soon, I hope, and I've got some ideas for things we can do with streams in the coming months!

We don't all use Discord though man. If it's somewhere in a Discord channel it may as well not exist to a chunk of us here.

Like a lot of people who don't use Reddit right?

Hence why people are asking for a more centralized communication, like a stream. Right? ...

For centralised communication, a blog post is hard to beat.

As for streams, as I said at the top of the chain, in the coming weeks we'll be able to start up streams again so that'll be on the agenda, once they're a possibility.

but isn't that the issue? Jagex is all over the place, nothing centralized, some info given in discord other on reddit some in tweets and some in secret "content creator" only chats.

Suggestion: find a way to share conversation through multi platform at the same time or at least a summary of what was discussed.

Look at mod ryan chat with the rs guy I caught that in his stream by pure luck. that stuff was good. I'm sure mod jack discussion in discord was relevant as well, but most players will never hear/see any of it.

Well, it'd be nice to have one centralised space, for sure, but each platform offers it's own benefits. For example, Discord allows for faster communication, and themed sections for specific topics - in fact, there's a channel in the Official RuneScape Discord (it's #Social) that crossposts every comment made by a JMod (even this one!) so everyone on Discord can see everything I'm saying here.

I admit that I personally like the sporadic nature of chatting with the JMods. We're a passionate bunch, many of whom chat about RuneScape far into the night after the office has closed - we've all got a lot to say! I wouldn't want to close off those opportunities for a more centralised communication channel.

In the instance that something requires a larger announcement, we try and cross-post it everywhere we can so it's cohesive AND invites conversations for people across those spaces.

How does 1 person leaving cause weeks upon weeks of delays in a simple stream? I'm genuinely curious. I feel like most companies have people who are able to fill multiple roles to prevent egregious delays if someone leaves the company or gets sick, vacation, etc etc.

Well, I love doing streams as a hobby, but our studio setup is far more advanced than anything I'm familiar with, and I'd have to get my hands on the assets we use for our overlays, transitions, slates and lower thirds - it's something I want to be able to take on in the future in case of situations like this (with a single "point of failure" as it were) so we can keep a more consistent cadence.
