Heyyyy Dooooom
One thing I didn’t see in the news post is a roadmap for next year, or like an announcement for when we will learn about next year. Is there plan for a overview stream in December like last year?
If we can share one, I personally would love to cap the year off like that, but I can't make any guarantees on that so right now I'm gonna say "Maybe, if we can."
What MTX will be added in the Christmas event?
I'm sure we'll have some kind of Treasure Hunter promotion for those players looking to pick up some awesome goodies but those have no impact on this event. Everything within the Christmas Village event is exclusively earned via gameplay.
EDIT: 11:15 Game Time:
Hey to come back on this with a bit more clarity -
The Christmas Village Event content is all exclusively earned via gameplay. There's new Christmas cosmetics to earn through the Quest / Seasonal Activities, and the Christmas Spirit shop is packed with old Christmas cosmetics to collect.
On top of the Christmas Village Event, we will have the Wrapping Paper system back as well. The Wrapping Paper event will have it's own rewards, including some seasonal ones, and you can earn Wrapping Paper through both gameplay and TH/bundles. The idea is that the Christmas Event has plenty of directly earnable content, and this layers on top of it as something separate that anyone can get involved in for a chance to get other rewards - so whether playing the seasonal activities are your bag or not, you might walk away with some other goodies.
Hope that helps keep things clear!
I'd like to give a shout of gratitude to you for doing an amazing job as our (not-so-new anymore) community manager. I can't tell how much is your work, or how much is concidence; but ever since you started I have noticed a huge turn of how much the players' opinions and ideas get moved into actual dev time rather than just seeing and (sometimes) agreeing.
Seeing all these very honest conversations about why something can't be done - whether it be for a money reason, or time restraint, or multi-department scheduling etc, it's great to hear a human talking and be able to understand that you all work in a company that has its own goals to reach while trying to please the players.
In the same vein, I see a lot of time put aside to focus on what we dislike most, and how to fix it. Things like the community hitlist is a massive improvement and I end up looking forward to those patch weeks more so than big content updates. It's very reminiscent of the pure ninja strike days, but feels more like teams being brought together to fix these things rather than 1 small team trying to fix it all.
Again, I don't know if it's your doing or not, or how much say you even have. You do a good job at keeping humble, but I believe you are a big part of it (and all the other Jmods following suit, because they all show how dedicated they are to making the game the best it can be).
I still feel very new, and I have so much to learn, but it's been almost 9 months now!
It's lovely to see - everyone on the other side of the screen is a person, we're all just being human!
It's an incredible time to be part of this team, and we're all working flat out to do everything we can to make this game the best it can be. I'm very lucky to be a part of this team, so here's to more of this in the future!
