5s hi everyone my name is newt i'm one of
7s the community managers at conference
8s lane studios and in today's video i want
10s to talk all about the changes we're
11s making the equipment system and
13s additions we're making to weapons in
15s update 6.
17s so in update 6 we plan to add a bunch of
20s different ammunition types to weapons
22s the main reason why we want to do this
24s is because we want to add like a little
25s bit more variety to the weapons that
27s exist in the game we don't plan to to
29s like turn the game into like a first
31s person shooter or anything like that we
33s also don't uh you know
34s intend to add like survivor mechanics or
36s you know
37s make this into like an action game or
39s anything like that it is still a factory
41s building first and foremost uh but we
44s just wanted to like expand sort of the
45s tool sets that you have when it comes to
47s exploration and when it comes to weapons
48s and dealing with enemies in the game
50s essentially before we dive into the
52s ammunition types what i want to talk
54s about are uh some of the core changes
56s we're making to equipment and the first
58s piece of equipment i want to talk about
60s are beacons so if you remember in the
62s last video i put out uh you can check
63s the cart here you know what to do um i
66s talked all about how we're aiming to do
67s away with beacons uh because we're
69s replacing it with this new like market
71s system that we made and i just want to
73s clarify a few things when it comes to
75s beacons like the equipment thing um
78s because yeah like like i said we're
79s aiming to do away with beacons and this
81s is both in recipes and as an equipment
84s piece so we plan to do away with all the
86s usage of beacons within recipes um and
90s changing those recipes essentially and
92s this shouldn't affect you too much
93s because most of the recipe changes are
95s tied to like when you're constructing
97s stuff in the workshop or when you're
99s building buildings the only exception is
101s one of the alt recipes for uranium fuel
104s rods that uses beacons in like the
106s production line we won't touch that
109s yet but we will change that recipe in
112s some time in the unspecified future but
114s for update six that uh alt recipe won't
117s change but anything else that has like
120s beacons within the recipe
122s will either be gone
123s from the recipe as in like skip that
125s part or we'll kind of rebalance the
127s recipe as a whole but like i said it
129s shouldn't affect you guys too much in
131s your production lines because the only
133s like recipe that i use is that's
134s automated is that all recipe so the
136s beacons will still be unequippable in
138s the game it will still you'll still be
140s able to like run up to the the workbench
142s and craft one if you want to
144s but the main thing here is that once you
147s place a beacon

151s it's just going to disappear
153s and and show up on the map essentially
156s as the new marker so essentially what's
158s gonna happen in update six is like all
160s the beacons that exist in the world and
161s any beacons that you may place on the
163s map they're gonna be converted to this
165s new system that we made with the markers
168s with the caveat that you know once you
171s remove a marker it's gone because you
173s know you don't need to spend any
174s resources to place markers and the same
176s goes if you
178s place a beacon that's then turned into a
180s marker you know those resources are
182s gonna be gone you know beacons will
183s still sort of be in the game
185s but
186s they'll be converted into the new system
188s and essentially disappear so hopefully
190s this will clear up any confusion
191s surrounding the beacons etc etc and with
194s that being said let's dive into some
196s exciting changes we're making to the
197s equipment system and let me just press
199s tab boom and hopefully you'll see the
202s biggest change coming up here which is
204s multiple body slots baby you guessed it
207s we're actually going to do this for
208s update 6 we weren't certain but here we
210s are um so yeah we're adding multiple
212s body slots you're going to be able to
214s like equip both the jet pack and the gas
217s mask at the same time and like look at
220s me mom i could fly while being gas
222s clothes at the same time isn't that
225s exciting sure hope you guys think this
227s is exciting because we've worked so hard
228s on doing this so yeah you're gonna be
230s able to use multiple body slots at the
231s same time one key thing here though to
233s note is that um we're not gonna be able
236s to like balance the equipment the
237s existing equipment with this change in
240s mind uh we've mentioned this before that
242s like the the equipment that we have in
244s the game are balanced towards having
246s just one body slot so having multiple
248s ones might be a bit funky you might be a
251s little bit overpowered so we will
253s probably tweak this in the future at
254s some point um specifically looking at
257s you jetpack and blade runners at the
258s same time you naughty dog so yeah expect
261s that but in update six you're at least
263s going to be able to like run around and
264s equip all the stuff at the same time
266s exciting times we've also made an update
268s to the hud for equipment so when you're
270s scrolling through the equipment slots it
272s will show you like which which equipment
274s you have in your hands and which one are
275s in the list so to speak and i'm about to
278s absolutely blow your mind check this
280s out if you press h
287s so yeah we've added so you can holster
289s and all holster uh equipment in the game
291s now wow fantastic i can't believe we
293s made it this far right uh that that's
296s probably it you can probably stop
297s watching the video nothing's gonna like
299s be better than that okay but but let's
302s keep going anyways and talk about the
303s other stuff all right so let's talk
304s about weapons and ammo types so we've
306s added a bunch of ammo types for a couple
308s of weapons in the game uh specifically
310s we added for the rebar gun the rifle and
312s the nobelisks uh they've gotten a bunch
314s of items no better way to do it than to
316s walk over to my little uh shooting range
318s that i've prepared over here uh
321s now a key thing i want to mention here
322s is that a lot of the stuff that i'm
324s about to show you here are working in
325s progress this is really like the current
326s state of development for these uh
328s ammunition types so they may get tweaked
330s in the future um you know their via like
334s their visuals might not be final um so
337s just bear that in mind all right so the
338s way that this works now is that if you
340s hold r you will get this like radial
341s wheel and you'll be able to pick like
343s which ammunition type you want to load
344s uh in the weapon uh and you may remember
347s from the fixmas event that we added sort
350s of this functionality for the snowballs
352s the reason why we added that was because
353s we had this system in mind with a lot of
355s other ammunition types um so that's why
358s that change uh happened and we couldn't
360s really say why but here we are today
362s telling you exactly why so
364s yeah we still got the regular rebar gun
366s uh sorry the the regular like
369s iron rebar that the weapon comes in
371s today uh still functions the same way so
373s the first new uh ammunition type that
375s we've added for the rebar gun is the
377s stun rebar so the stun rebar is
379s essentially shooting out another uh
381s rebar uh what it effectively does is it
384s gives deals a little bit of damage and
386s it also stuns the images of the enemies
388s for a short amount of time so this is
390s great if you want to like
392s stop like an enemy running away from you
394s or
395s if you want like stun anemone and run
396s away yourself uh this is essentially
398s what this is good for all right so
400s that's the stun rebirth the next one i
401s want to talk about is the shatter rebar
403s so the shadow rebar is essentially um
406s it's essentially a shotgun so it
409s functions the same way as like a typical
411s classical shotgun in games right um so
414s it it sends out like a bunch of smaller
416s rebars so yeah it essentially shoots out
419s smaller rebars
420s that split up
421s uh and you know deals damage over a
424s distance uh one key thing to note here
426s is that the damage that's dealt from the
428s rebar gun um it there's no like damage
431s uh distance fall off so like it's not
434s like in any typical shooter where you
435s know the further away someone is from
436s your shotgun you know the less damage it
438s will take um however you know these
441s rebars will split up so like enemies
443s will be hit by fewer of them um so in
446s that sense it will maybe deal a bit less
448s damage from a distance um but you know
451s overall it will function pretty much
453s like a regular shotgun in a game all
454s right and lastly i want to talk about
456s the explosive rebar so
459s you name may suggest what this is so
461s this is essentially the same kind of um
464s function as a regular rebar but when it
466s collides with something
468s it explodes
469s very fancy
471s this one is a lot of fun when you're
472s like shooting enemies and you're like
474s leading the shot
476s and yeah it deals a bit more damage than
478s the regular ones all right so that's the
479s rebar gun let's talk about the rifle
481s before we dive into like the new
482s ammunition types of the rifle i just
484s want to mention that we made some
484s changes to the default one as well so
487s we've changed the magazine size from 10
490s to 15 so you'll get a few more bullets
493s in each magazine now so you don't have
494s to reload as often um
497s by the way this animation is a bit
498s glitchy right now like there's the hand
500s kind of disappears but don't worry about
501s that this is all set up uh one other key
504s thing that we changed is that the the
506s stack size for the the magazine
509s is now uh 500 instead of
512s whatever was before i can't remember um
514s so you can now carry a lot more uh
517s shots with you as you are exploring so
519s the first new magazine i want to talk
520s about for the rifle is the turbo ammo so
523s what it essentially does is it turns the
524s rifle into like more of a machine gun uh
527s with increased fire rate so this is how
529s it looks essentially and you can release
531s the fire rate and like keep it going as
533s to where it was before um
536s or you can just let it rip
539s and just turn into rambo for a second
549s very good
551s it will keep the fire rate so like if
553s you keep holding it like this you can
554s get this kind of fire red as well um
557s pretty neat the last new ammunition type
559s we're adding for the rifle is referred
561s to as the homing uh it's got a different
563s name here but that's gonna change so
565s what this does it's kind of like it kind
567s of functions like the smart pistol in
568s like titanfall and stuff like that so it
571s will home in on
573s enemies and stuff like that so with this
575s you just need to aim in the sort of
576s direction of the the enemy and then the
578s projectiles will home into it and last
580s but not least let's talk about the
582s changes we're making to noble disks so
584s you still have the classical nobilisk
586s like before uh please take note of the
588s hud by the way i haven't mentioned this
589s but the hud also is a bit different for
590s all the weapons and stuff um so yeah you
592s still like the hold when you hold it
594s down you'll throw further and more
595s precise you know press right mouse
597s button you'll detonate it etc etc so the
600s first noble list that i want to talk
601s about is the pulse nobelisk so this one
604s deals not a lot of damage
606s but what it does is it creates like a
608s big pulse so when you blow it up it will
611s like push anything that's within like a
612s certain radius away uh this is really
615s great if you're like being chased by
616s enemies and you want to like push them
618s off cliffs or stuff like that another
619s really cool thing you can use these for
621s is if you've ever played quake or
622s anything like that you can kind of do
623s like rocket jumps with this so whoa look
625s at that um
628s so yeah you can almost use this as like
629s a
630s way to traverse the map as well it's
632s really cool
634s place one here and then
636s shabang look at that so really cool
640s look at me go i'm so far away now
643s sorry i just
645s had too much fun with this actually i
646s forgot that i was making the video um so
649s yeah really cool really cool another
651s really cool way to use this next up we
652s have the cluster nobelisk um
655s so the cholesterol blisk is maybe the
658s the name kind of tells the tale um
661s it's a regular like no bliss that you
663s throw but when it explodes it will like
665s split up and cluster so it will create
667s like a bigger bang essentially
669s um this is really great for when you're
671s clearing like debris as well so if you
673s have like a bunch of foliage you want to
675s get rid of you can just boom a little
677s bit and then we'll get rid of a bunch of
678s stuff um and it also just creates like a
681s bigger explosion barrier essentially so
682s it's it's really useful for like when
684s you have multiple and it's chasing you
686s one noble list that we don't have quite
687s fully functional in the game just yet to
689s demo is a gas nobelisk the gas noblesk
692s is essentially a noblest that you throw
694s and it will create like a poison gas and
696s any creature that's caught within this
698s gas will like try and flee away from it
700s all right and the last noble list that
701s we want to showcase is
703s the
704s nuke nobelisk
708s um
716s that doesn't look safe

788s all right anyways now uh so the new uh
790s noblesk is essentially just a bigger
792s regular noblesk so
794s once you throw it and it explodes
797s it just creates like a bigger bang this
799s vfx is
800s just placeholder for the record uh it
803s doesn't look epic at all hopefully the
805s the actual one will look a lot cooler so
807s yeah those are some of the new animation
809s types that were added to the game uh
811s really quick bonus round few more things
813s that i just want to show off just
814s because they're cool
816s some additions that we made to the ui as
818s well so you may have noticed when i'm
820s hovering over some of these items
822s they've got a little bit of a different
823s description now so for instance for the
825s weapons and then ammunition
828s you can see that they're displaying like
829s their damage um and we've taken a little
832s bit how like the recipes look like and
834s stuff like that and in the codex uh
836s we've also kind of expanded a little bit
838s of how this functions so now you have
840s the option here to click to expand uh
842s and it will show you like a bit more
843s information about this stuff you can
845s also change like if i'm overclocking
847s like how many items do i need you know
849s or if i want to say like i want to
850s produce five per minute you know or
852s in this case like 10 per minute like
854s what does that look like do i need 10
855s okay cool you get that information and
858s one final tweak we also make to the
859s to-do list is that you know once you add
862s this to-do list we've made it so you can
864s customize this a little bit more
865s actually so now not only with the to-do
868s list it also shows you like how many
870s parts you need to make stuff you can
871s also leave like little notes to
872s yourselves and when you close this menu
875s uh it will still stay up in the hud uh
877s and you will still keep your notes so
879s you can kind of create like little
880s to-do's for yourself and like check them
882s off you can also do a little bit of text
884s formatting and the cool thing too is you
885s can add like public notes and private
887s notes so public notes are for everyone
888s private notes is just for you so you can
890s be like hey everyone and then in the hud
893s you know they will show up as like
894s public notes and then you have your
896s private notes at the bottom okay so
898s that's gonna be it for this video i am
