8s here and so this video is going to be a
11s little bit of a wrap up with some info
13s regarding the state of last week's
14s release of update six and what we're
17s currently working on I hope you enjoyed
19s the trailer we put out by the way it was
20s kind of like a last second thing as we
22s originally didn't really plan to make
24s one for this update but for several
26s reasons we decided to go for it there
27s also wasn't a patch notes video this
29s time around because we were a bit
31s pressed on time Jace was still on break
33s and you know some things moved around so
35s making the trailer was really the better
36s option for this update I will say though
38s if you really miss seeing the patch
39s notes in a video format there are a
41s couple of videos made by the community
43s on everything that is new in update six
45s so for instance satisfactory news has a
47s really good video on everything that is
48s new in update six and Kim it's also made
50s one during experimental period to name a
53s few so I highly recommend checking these
54s out I will leave some links in the
56s description so on the topic of the
58s update the first thing I want to talk
60s about is the situation with the new
62s build pieces we had to pull from the
64s update so that's the half foundations
66s the Tilted concave walls and the roofer
68s corner pieces if you don't know what I'm
70s talking about uh right before the launch
72s of update 6 we released some of these
74s new buildables on the experimental
75s Branch however we run into a couple of
77s problems with these build pieces that we
80s didn't realize until they were live
81s there were some issues with snapping and
83s building and if you change the materials
84s on them they would shift around so yeah
87s we couldn't fix these up in time before
89s the launch so we decided to pull them
91s from the Early Access release until we
92s had time to fix them and release them a
94s bit later well we're we're now here
98s today uh and we've essentially done that
100s so as of patch
102s 0.6.1.2 these new build pieces are now
105s available along with everything else in
107s update 6. we're still working on fixing
109s some of the major issues so some folks
111s have run into but for the most part the
113s build is quite stable and we've started
116s moving forward with development of the
118s game so yeah due to the nature of Early
120s Access we can't make the game completely
122s bug free after each update release as
125s they would slow down the general
126s development of the game but like I said
128s we're still working on fixing some of
129s the major bugs so don't worry if we if
132s you feel like we've forgotten about you
133s we're still here right but the vast
135s majority of crashes that we've noticed
137s are due to mods so if you have mods
139s installed and you're running into a
141s crash please try to either update the
143s mods you're using or uninstall mods via
145s the community provided mod manager and
148s see if that resolves your issue when it
150s comes to any issues with the game and
151s mods there really isn't anything we can
153s do as mods aren't officially supported
155s by the game it's also important to note
158s that just deleting files for mods
160s doesn't necessarily result in a proper
161s uninstall and you know if mods are still
164s injected if you see this little line in
167s the crash reporter this indicates that
169s mods are still being injected it's
171s likely that they're the culprit I'm not
174s saying that you know we screw don't
176s screw up I mean we screw up all the time
177s so even if you have mods installed you
180s can still you know get a crash for some
181s reason but it's important to rule out
183s whether a crash is caused by a mod or
185s not so that's kind of the point of that
186s I just want to say also real quick uh
188s that there's like no shade intended to
190s the modding Community they're doing
191s awesome stuff and we're so thrilled to
193s see what they're making for the game uh
195s so much love for that but typically
197s after an update release mods tend to
200s break which leads to crashes so just be
203s aware of that okay if you are running
205s into a crash all you really need to do
207s is hit hit the send report button along
209s with maybe writing like a little
210s description of what you were doing in
212s the crash occurred this really helps us
214s out when we're looking at the call stack
215s and you know can't make out what might
217s have cost a crash for any other issues
220s or feedback you might have about the
222s game then the best place is to go to our
224s QA side
225s questions.satisfactorygame.com and check
227s if somebody has already made a ticket
228s for whatever feedback you might have and
230s upvote that or if not then create your
233s own post you know
234s there are a lot of people posting on the
237s QA side and while we're not able to
239s respond to everyone we do read
241s everything if you're reporting an issue
243s please provide as detailed information
245s as possible so we can reproduce the
247s issue that you're having and if you
249s believe an issue is specific to your
251s save file then it would really help us
253s out if you could upload it to a hosting
254s site like like Google drive or something
256s like that and Link it in the ticket so
258s we have an easier time reproducing the
260s issue and if you are running into a
262s crash and the crash report it doesn't
263s pop up well the game just freezes or you
265s know goes straight to desktop then
267s please report that in a QA site and
269s include your log file in the session if
271s you don't know where your log files or
272s your save files are stored in your
274s computer I will include the directories
276s in the description and yeah this is
278s really important because if you just go
280s to the QI side and say you know like oh
281s my game Crash then you know we don't
283s really have anything to go on and we
285s can't really do anything about it for
286s some crashes there are workarounds that
288s are known within the community as well
289s so yeah please try to be specific so
292s while we're on the topic of bugs by the
294s way one question that I get very often
296s that I kind of want to bring up in this
297s video is the question like why haven't
299s you fixed this issue yet or people
301s saying you know like the game's been out
303s for so long and they still haven't fixed
305s this particular thing can't be that hard
307s right like they must be incompetent and
310s let's be honest here like I'm not
311s playing that that up that is definitely
313s how some people choose to phrase it and
315s it's a very broad question you know it
317s might vary a little bit from case to
318s case but for the most part the main
319s reason why something or another hasn't
322s been fixed is because we just haven't
323s got a round to it yet satisfactory is a
326s massive game and they're almost endless
328s things to work on for this game and
330s while we do want to fix bugs we also
332s need to move forward with development if
334s we're ever going to finish it so it's
337s not always possible for us to like
338s switch to maintenance mode for a long
340s time uh because it will delay the
342s general development of the game and a
344s lot of fixes would likely break again
345s down the line anyway as we're working on
348s making it feature complete so that is
350s sort of like the unfortunate
352s double-edged sword of you know early
353s access titles we try to make updates as
357s stable and good as we can while we're
359s actively working on them and we do set
361s aside a substantial chunk of time to fix
363s up stuff people have been asking about
365s but we also sort of need to move on
367s which is a great segue into what I'm
370s about to talk about which is what we're
372s doing next essentially
373s so in last week's release stream I
376s mentioned that we are doing another
377s update to the game that we're calling
379s Update 7 for now uh this is going to be
382s another small update uh in fact it's
384s gonna be even smaller than this update
387s uh we haven't fully decided yet exactly
389s what we'll go into this update but
391s mostly it's going to contain some
393s wrap-up of work we've been doing
394s alongside update 6 as well as the stuff
397s we couldn't finish in update six so for
399s instance the rest of the creature
401s changes we wanted to do will most likely
403s be part of update 7. there'll also be
406s some new things as well but we'll talk
410s about that in another video
414s please remember that as of update 6
417s we've decided to shift focus of
418s development for the game to reach 1.0
421s and we're making decisions around what
423s and when we release new content to suit
425s that so while we've been working in
427s update 6 and this next update we've also
429s been working on other things in parallel
431s that is content we expect to go into the
433s final release of the game that will take
434s longer to finish than what we usually
436s have in between updates so yeah just
438s just bear that in mind we've been doing
440s other stuff than just a working update
442s six and seven so yeah not too much to
444s talk about yet unfortunately but expect
447s some more news regarding Update 7 soon
449s but that's gonna be it for me for now I
