Hello,
I also haven't seen this or heard of it happening to anybody. I would recommend trying to Verify integrity of game files.
To do so, please following the steps listed below:
a) Via Steam open your game Library.
b) Right click on the game title and select "Properties"
c) Select the "LOCAL FILES" tab and click on "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES..."
d) Start a game session
If this doesn't resolve your issue, then please create a bug report (ideally with a video) if you can. https://support.secondextinctiongame.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360017249719-Report-a-bug
