Removing them from the game for now and then later just throwing them into a different loot pool solves absolutely nothing and punishes everyone for the actual problems revolving these radars.

The problem is that the time investment, time limit, and pay off with these radars is ridiculous. You have to spend 12+ hours on 5% radars. Sure, it's a grindy game, so spending time is necessary. I agree!

However, placing stress on the players by giving them a SINGLE week to complete these radars when they may have other things they need/want to do is the prime reason why most people abandon these ventures. For some people that time investment can end in a complete waste of their time. This is the farthest thing from a healthy mechanic in this game. So, to put the issues in bullet points:

  • LOTS of time required to invest into completing a 5/10% radar.
  • Requires you to complete the radar over the span of a single week.
  • Finishing the radar can ultimately result in nothing but a waste of the player's time.

Now how do you fix the issue at hand? There's many ways, but here are some solutions I find the most reasonable.

  1. Reduce the time between spawns to overall reduce the time required to invest into a 5/10% radar.
  2. Make radars no longer disappear at weekly reset, but will remain in a player's inventory until sold or used. Any radars remaining AFTER a weekly reset will then count towards one of the players 3 earnable radars that week.
  3. For 5/10% radars, have the final 50 encounters have greatly increased Luma odds.(1/500)

Any one of these changes would make these radars more desirable for players to acquire and actually spend time on. I'm not saying ALL of these changes should make it, but just one of them would suffice.

The problem isn't that people don't want to do these radars. THEY DO. The problem is that the way 5/10% radars work is entirely problematic and generally unrewarding with how the current system of radars works. A player's time investment into your game should be valued and respected, and 5/10% radars typically can feel like a slap to the face, especially when you invest the ungodly amount of time doing one and coming out the other side with absolutely nothing. It's gambling with player time in the worst way possible.

The problem is that you are comparing a 5% radar against other radars and yeah, they take a lot of time in comparison.

But you need to compare a 5% radar vs hunting a 5% luma at full odds. If you do that math you'll see that doing a 5% radar offers an insane amount of time value.

So that's precisely why we don't want to make 5% radars quicker. 5% lumas are supposed to be rare, radars already reduced that rarity by a lot and reducing it even further is not a good solution for us.

Finding 5%-10% radars a new home doesn't only mean that they will be added to another activity as they are. We need more time to think about what we want with Luma hunting 5% Tems and maybe the solution is just to remove entirely those radars and offer an additional way of hunting them tied to another activity. We'll see.
