It should be pretty simple to have a competitive and casual pvp modes. The entire game prepares you for fights with a 6 temtem team. The way pokemon does it. But as soon as you want to try your team in a pvp setting, you're required to have 2 more, plus the pick/ban system. Maybe that's how competitive pokemon is in tournaments, but that's NOT how the only in-game pvp should be done. If there was casual as well, there would be no problem, but currently there's no introduction or way to prepare players for the pvp mode. PvE should prepare you for PvP. But currently it's an entirely different format layed out for ONLY competitive. I just want to jump in with my favorite temtem and try it out in a battle. I can't do that in PvE, I've already beat all of the NPCs.

Edit: I think it's awesome that a competitive mode is in temtem, that's something pokemon should have implemented a long time ago. I'm happy for the competitive players. My problem is there's no in-game option for casual players. I feel casual should have been implemented far before competitive, because it's such a simple thing that adds a lot of replay value. Take out the rankings, 8-team requirement, and pick/ban and you have a casual mode.

Focusing on one game mode for PVP right now is the best way to keep a healthy population and we don't need to bother to balance for two different modes with different rules.

currently there's no introduction or way to prepare players for the pvp mode

This is true, but it is something that we're going to change in the future, including some ways in PvE to play competitive matches.
