Yes, real time scanner from McAfee mades problems with the game since the beggining. We sent the information to McAfee.

Try to add the game in McAfee allowed programs.

Have you checked if your Windows user has administrator privileges?

Try to launch the gog installer as administrator.

You have to have this folder Documents/My Games/They are Billions with some files inside like ZXLog file. If you don't have this folder with these files means that your installation is not fine and there is something blocking a proper installation. Because of that the game is not being launched.

Check better your antivirus blacklist or your windows firewall.

Please, you should check if your antivirus or firewall is blocking a proper saving game.

Try to allow the game in the blacklists of the antivirus and firewall and check if you have any kind of real time scanner that usually mades this issue happens.

You should also check if STEAM cloud is working fine.

Firstly I would like to invite you avoid any kind of consideration about the Devs. On the other hand and related to your issue, please, check if your antivirus or firewall are blocking a proper launching of the game. Check also if you have any kind of real time scanner in your antivirus and disable it and try.

Have you verify your files. Right button over the game name in the STEAM library, propierties, loca file, verify...

Try to do this.

You also can check your sound sliders in the sound options screen.
