New ships can certainly be powerful or weak, and for extended periods of time.

As for now, she's only been out for a month or so. Barring extreme outliers, we typically collect data for 2-3 patches before we start looking at if changes are needed, so there's still more time for people to try her out and see who can make her do what.

I like her a lot, and I know many others that do too, but there are also CV players that feel she is simply unplayable because they want to hunt Cruisers and Battleships in other ways. Everyone will have their own taste/playstyle.

It's absolutely powerful, sure. The AP Bombs are functional, but the CV is just Skip bombs and Fighters so that is the majority of its power budget. Even the hull speed is super slow as an additional power drain.

As much as I agree, even if you weren't there he could still have died. He was going to yolo that cap whether you existed or not. If he didn't know to stop when he smoked, even worse as the DD and Cruiser that were shoving the cap would've hurt him badly.

He certainly may have paniced under your attacks, but the play was fairly normal for "I'm in a DD and I'm supposed to go to the cap". You see it quite often, but that doesn't make it a play that won't get the DD killed.

[Insert "My DDs die in under 3 minutes" ranting in chat]

Ultimately, every play a player makes comes down to the player. He had 35 seconds to see you coming, and he still yolo'd alone (you didn't even spot a cruiser on ...

Because "game". There are times where the realistic situation impedes the concept the game mechanic is going for, so there's a give-and-take.

The most often derided non-realism things I hear are about Radar seeing through islands. If the consumable was re-labeled "Detection", then it'd avoid the real-world comparisons by virtue of non-realistic name.

"O" and "~" (tilde) are the default.

I personally use "Priority Sector is O.P." as my moniker to DD players. Use it for the instant damage and turn the AA off (unless you know what you're doing).

I don't know how old the previous iteration of "Priority Sector" was. It may have been implemented in Patch 8.0, but I started around patch 8.2 or 8.3.

The old version showed a window and you set a side. Once that side was set, there was a few second countdown and then that side was "Boosted" while the other was not. You could alter it to the other side or neutral using the window. It was user input/timing intensive, and most people seemed to just set a side and use that side to kill planes with hard buffed AA.

Aigle should've seen your planes coming and hung back from yolo'ing the cap.

Your planes were spotted 26 seconds into your replay and you first spotted the Aigle 35 seconds later. That's a lot of time to reconsider hard yolo'ing the cap and seeing what Happy Ending is waiting inside. "We bomb you long time, $5"

Secondly, he smoked and never used it, which was bizarre. However, maybe he was worried he'd be torped out of his smoke by the DD that was firing at him?

Either way, he overcommitted into a known threat and ran out of his only backup plan.

Question to you, can I borrow you for a Training Room? I'd like to run a Tier 6 DD and see how long I can last against you in a Bearn.

For those that didn't know you can set your sight on a locked enemy target and shoot him while looking around... well, now you know.

I've taught this stuff for the last year and a half, so I have a lot of videos already made.

Further, I've been through the process of teaching/describing so many times that it's quite burned into my memory.

Continuous is buffed by 50%. There is one caveat in that US Tech Tree Destroyers are special and get a +100% buff to Continuous.

I recorded a video just now to show you about the "Free Look" / Lock On stuff that means you don't have to stop shooting while you turn your camera to shoot the planes.

Yes, if you use Priorty Sector on the wrong side of your ship then that is a misplay and you will do less damage because of it. Just like missing with guns or torps does no damage, missing with Sector will actively hurt your efforts to kill planes.

Also, if you want to see some pre-done math on AA Multiplication, I do have a video on that too:

I'll try breaking it down and going slow:

CV Main/Teacher, yes. Not sure what you mean by reaping benefits?

Correct. The "AA on one side of the ship prioritizes the other size for a time." So one side weakens while the other gains in strength while the Priority Sector is set.

It used to be a "fire-and-forget" version which you'd set and then have to toggle if you wanted to change it. Currently, it's on an Activation system where it boosts the one side for a time.

Yes, it may very well be unknown to players. I've made videos about the skill personally, but my videos are not standard and I don't believe we have a "How It Works" video that formally describes the Priority Sector mechanic.

Worth knowing that when Priorit Sector was altered in Patch 8.7 to the current version, it gained "Instantaneous Damage". This is damage which is applied instan...

Um, I'm sorry. I think I got lost in the middle area of your post when I saw numbers that I didn't know where you were pulling them from.

I'm going to try and read it again, but maybe this will be something I just have to look at tomorrow after I've slept?

As for the Priority Sector stuff, I did a video about that Commander Skill:

Bots will have a pre-condition for consumable usage. It can be "use on cooldown" or "use on being detected" or "use on being detected by planes".

Planes have healthbars. It's a representative way of saying you have 8 planes, one of which is at half health.

The best thing you can do for your play is to watch the Replay. When you take yourself out of the moment you can sit back and examine your choices, as well as the choices other people made.

Getting kills and damage is fun, but how the match plays out is often much bigger than that.

---

One of the things you will see during Replay Analysis is whether you had a chance to save a match or not. Sometimes, it's literally out of your control and you can see that.

As long as you are making good decisions and doing the best you can, than you did your job. Even the best players lose because this is a solo-carry style game.

You might be misunderstanding the example. It's not saying that 60% of every game is decided by YOU in the absolute sense. If you extrapolated, then it'd be saying 60% of every game is decided... by each and every one of your teammates at the same time. That's a lot of 60%.

The breakdown is about someone's personal Win Rate.

20% of matches are Wins regardless of what you do

20% of matches are Losses regardless of what you do

60% of matches are Impacted by Your Influence

If you break it down to a statistical sort of concept, 20% Win Rate seems to be a "Loss Floor" in that you can't can't get much lower than that even if you tried. 80% Win Rate seems to be a "Win Ceiling". So where you fall between those two points is determined by what you consistently bring to every match over thousands of games.

Are there players that have higher or lower Win Rates in ships? Sure. There...

This sentence you wrote is literally the entire point of the previous Thread.

"MFW when people say AA is useless" --> "My feeling when people say AA is useless"

@NefariousRaven is saying AA wasn't useless, because it shot down planes.

The entire thread was saying, "Oh look, AA wasn't useless here."

@Soshi_Sone has many similar posts showing off their skills in the Tiger '59. Folks say the Tiger is terrible, and yet Soshi_Sone has great games in it.

Trying to turn a person's display of skill with an AA ship or the Tiger into a refutation of all things said ever... is going to be a bit of stretch. But for those that enjoy AA or the Tiger, it's still nice to represent the other side of equation.

For some folks Kaga is a great starter ship in Tier 8 because she has so many planes. For other folks, her long attack lines required on her Torps and Rockets mean that people just don't find the ability to strike meaningfully. Personally, I'm not a Kaga player as I crave more maneuverable planes.

As for losing 50 out of 58 battles, that's not a statistically significant number... but it isn't INsignificant either. That's likely a serious indication that something isn't working out well at all.

Basic concept in terms of "Win Rate" is:

20% of matches are Wins regardless of what you do

20% of matches are Losses regardless of what you do

60% of matches are Impacted by Your Influence

It's likely that you're not finding the ways to influence with Kaga, and you're also low-rolling on how the teams settle out. As someone else pointed out, the only person in every single match you ...

So in the future, we could instead just send everyone a single code? Like the "2022HAPPYNYCOMMANDERS" code.

That would allow the recipient to redeem one code, and be able to share to as many people as haven't claimed it yet.

That would make for a more understandable situation, yes?

Effectively it would be the same, but I think that would be more intuitive. And easier to describe in the email, too.
