Moved to the main forum for a wider audience.

I can see this might be a bug in the tutorial, OR that the "crystal things" you mention don't count as a alien race for this purpose.

Hopefully the experienced gameplayers here can help in more detail!

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

I suspect you have multiple problems there, including perhaps a Steam issue.

To test your theory of the launcher being the cause, run stellaris.exe directly from File Explorer. If that has a problem it is not the launcher at fault for that issue.

What launcher version do you see? Current is 2021.6

Yes, that is normal. That DLC is a pre-order bonus only, and is not available by other means. It is possible it will be put up for sale or even as a free item at some point in the future, as happened with say EU4, but that would typically be years away.

If you play MP games that he hosts, he should disable that DLC before starting a new campaign, that way you will be able to load those saves if you wish.

No reply in Bug Reports does not necessarily mean it has not been read and acted on.

However it probably has not right now due to the annual Paradox summer break. When you see official activity resume here in August (eg new DDs) you might update that thread then.

See how long I've been doing this job? I think I might know what I'm talking about. I promise you, you have never downloaded games directly from our store. Only via our client or the Steam client.

Did you install our client and confirm the game is available to you there?

We are seeing this in the beta version of the launcher, 2021.7 . If that's what you have opt out of that back to the normal 2021.6 version for the time being. Thanks.

You have never been able to download games from our store.

As you bought from our store you access this game either via the Steam client or our own standalone client (aka launcher v1).

I see you also have HOI4 from us, but that cannot be got via the Paradox client, only Steam.
