QA can't always reply to every post there, but they are all read!

Does this only happen in this one campaign, or also if you start a new test one (with ALL mods disabled)?

If the latter, you could try deleting everything in the Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders except any valued saved games.

Go into the Startup apps setup part of Windows and disable everything you can, then reboot. Does that improve the situation?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log

In your case I agree, it does seem like that, as all your problems are on games before Stellaris (so older Clausewitz versions). Why on this computer but not your older weaker one is also a mystery. Was it AMD CPU and GPU also?

We have three possible workarounds that may solve it:

Disable IPv6
- Close Eu4
- Go to Control Panel > View Network status and tasks > Change adapter settings (left side)
- Find your Hamachi Connection and Disable it
- Find your Internet connection adapter (for me, it was WiFi)
- Right click your internet adapter and select properties
- Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box
- Select Ok
- Start up Eu4 and should work.

Disable all other network adapters
Go to Windows Control panel.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on View Network Status.
Quick Tip: You can also quickly access these settings by right-clicking the network icon in the taskbar and selecting the Network & Internet settings option.
Click on Change adapter options.
Right-click all network adapters that are not connected to the internet and select the Disable option.

If you see it in your task bar, right click on it and choose Quit or Exit.

What species do you believe you own the expansion for, but cannot see in the game?

You can see what DLC each species comes in here:

You have Windows 10 but that system.log says Windows 8, which probably means you or something has set the game to run in Win8 compatibility mode.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

IF that doesn't help can I get new copies of all those files, including a new dxdiag.txt . Thanks.

Wolf6120 said: I'm not sure what exactly unloading every other app means - just making sure they're not running when I launch the game?
Yes, that's right. The idea is to make sure there is enough available memory, as with 8gb in tis machine shared between the game and Windows, that doesn't leave a lot for anything else - if Windows was swapping stuff out to disk that might explain your performance issues.

What happens if you run ck3.exe directly from file explorer? If any Windows error shows there, let us know what it is, thanks.

If this is reproducible from the save game file, and no mods are involved, please make a new Thread in Bug Reports and attach the problem save file there for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

Do try unloading GeForce Experience before starting the game.

This game is multi-threaded but one core will typically carry more load than the others; however there are Windows settings that can change that. Are you seeing anything in Task manager in that area; say one core doing everything and no others doing anything?

The common thread with you and the OP is AMD CPU and GPU. Shouldn't be an issue of course, and I'm sure QA do test this game on AMD gear, but whether those exact items I can't say.

Do you also get this with some of our other games, like the OP does?

This thread is actually about GPU overheating, as it turned out. CPU is a different matter, are you sure all fans are working and your thermal paste is okay?

To answer your question, I'm not aware of any game setting that affects CPU usage, no.

That's odd. If you delete that system.log does the game make a new one?

There are some mod errors in that log; please disable ALL mods and only test this with a new campaign (ie started under the 1.9.x patches, no previous patch) .

Unload every other app you can, and especially GeForce Experience if that is running.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Is that any better?

Is this in a campaign started under the 1.9 patches, which has never had any mods used in it?

If so please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the affected save there, for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

Not sure what could cause that, to be honest.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new campaign, NOT any existing one

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Dr4k0n said: Even without mods, It crashes frequently
My question was whether you have a save file that reliably shows these crashes, that QA can look into.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Then test with a NEW unmodded campaign - any better?
