In general, any corrupted computer file is probably irrecoverable. But it is not impossible the corruption is relatively minor and can be edited out. The good folks in the User Mods forum here are probably your best hope for that.

However it's a huge worry that it happened to them all at once, I struggle to come up with any explanation for that! Normally only a save for the campaign that is currently open could be corrupted by, say, a game bug or a computer glitch. Save game files not currently open ought to be unaffected by anything like that.

It is probably worth making a thread in Bug Reports and attaching ALL the affected save game files there, with an explanation of the circumstances.

Sorry this happened to you, whatever the cause!

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Good luck!

That error log does look like a bad game installation, but it's hard to see how that can be after a clean reinstall.

Are there definitely no mods in play here?

CK3.exe should never be set to run as Admin, that causes problems in its own right.

Do you get this on another machine, or under a different Windows user on this machine?

You can see your achievements in the Steam client. Click on this game in your Steam library, and go to View My Achievements.

Is that what you were after?

Has this always happened ever since you've had the game? or is was okay up to some point?

Right click on stellaris.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

If that does not help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Local save files are in Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/save games/ folder; your save files are physically present there, are you saying? If so the only known reason why the game would not show them is if they are so corrupted the game cannot recognise them as valid save files; how that could happen to multiple saves at once I have no idea.

Also there is Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/last_save.ck3 , if you copy that to the /save games/ folder does that load?

I see you are running in Vulkan , is there a particular reason for that? What happens if you switch to DirectX 11?

And, did you cap the refresh rate to 60? It doesn't look like it in that pdx_settimgs.txt file.

The game is multithreaded, as are all our recent games. But not all processes gain from being split across processors, so it is common for one CPU to carry more load than the others do. That has nothing to do with your overheating issue though.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

I see no good reason for this problem in those files - the game is not officially supported on the M1 Apple Silicon hardware, but it ought to at least run.

What happens if you put it in fullScreen mode in the launcher's Game Settings menu?

Can you update to MacOS 13.2.1?

In future please start your own thread instead of re-opening someone else's, thanks.

Does your launcher start but cannot launch the game? Or it does not start?

Please don't re-open old threads. Make a new one in future, thanks.

Please give us some history of your problem, and the rest of the log files in that folder. Thanks.

What happens if you run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer?

This thread is about issues on the Steam edition, but you appear to have the PS4/5 one. Please post in the Console forums for that one, thanks.
