For Private Server owners; it looks like

ServerTransferEnabled

is set to True by default. This was not intended, but is currently out there.

If that’s not what you want, then we recommend server admins go to their server configs and set that variable to False and restart your servers. Some of you probably noticed by now, but we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this caused.

The servers are back online!

The servers will come down for a restart 2021-08-20T13:00:00Z. The downtime is estimated to take 1 hour.

Yeah I know we sound like a broken record sometimes and I don’t like it either. We don’t exactly take pleasure in having to seem like we’re stringing folks along when there’s ongoing issues with a patch.

My understanding is if you go to recreate the character and then back out before completing the process, your character should be deleted - despite what the server browser may tell you.

I’d love to give something more concrete, but as has been demonstrated in this thread multiple times, sometimes we plan on something and then something else comes up.

I guess it’s kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don’t scenario where folks will get upset at not being able to get an accurate estimate, but then if we do announce a date and then something last-minute pops up and forces us to delay, that also feels bad. I don’t like being vague either, but unfortunately this is where we’re at right now.

For example, even the recent 2.5 update on PC was actually delayed internally at the last minute, so while we expected the update on one day, it ended up getting pushed back due to an unforeseen issue.

I feel like we’ve made so many hopeful promises in this thread that ended up not being met that we’re in a tough spot as far as this goes. We’re fully aware of the situation and it’s not ideal, to say the least.

So, yeah, we were of course concerned and expecting some rumbling from the PSN community following the release of 2.5 on PC. Cat memes aside this has been quite the journey, apparently, getting 2.4.6 out

Quick update on that front:

I’m told that the final hurdles for 2.4.6 on PSN should be cleared and we hope to publish the update very soon; won’t be this week, but I would keep an eye out for the near future. Additionally, 2.5 on consoles (including PSN) should not be long after. Fingers crossed for no more unforeseen roadblocks during this process.

Edit: To clarify, 2.4.6 and 2.5 will be released separately on PSN and will not be rolled into one update, as speculated above.

So, yes, we know you’ve been waiting for the 2.4.6 update on PSN, and unfortunately the patch will not arrive this week either.

We’ve worked to provide quick updates and bits of information over time, and while we don’t have an ETA at the moment, we wanted to elaborate on the situation to help you understand the delay.

First things first: The actual content of the update is ready to go, and has been for a while.

Our current challenge is that, due to the way the game handles data and how patching works on PlayStation, releasing the update as-is would cause you to download the entire game from scratch. This may not be a huge issue for those with good connections and unlimited bandwidth, but this is not something everyone has access to.

Working around this issue is a complicated process since it requires a lot of moving parts working together and as such, needs thorough work and testing.

I’ve been out this week, but just poking my head in to mention that Discourse is aware of the issue and it is suspected that certain browsers like Edge on Android are bugging out… If you aren’t already, we recommend using Chrome in the meantime.

I understand you’re frustrated, but please note we’re still humans and ask that you not mix up “honesty” with attacking us or others for daring to show compassion. Doing so isn’t going to make this go any quicker, I’m afraid.

Unfortunately, I don’t have further details available to me at this time either - I’m more trying to empathize with the frustration of having to wait around.
