Best of luck with the clean install! Let me know if you need any help finding all the files. Hopefully that'll be the end of your problems - otherwise just post here or in a new thread. ^^

If you're using the Steam app, just right click anywhere on the page of the thread and select the "Copy Page URL" from the little menu that appears. Then when posting a reply, just paste it in - either by right clicking in the reply box and selecting "paste" or by using the shortcut ctrl + v.

If the map theme matches the map type (for example a temperate map theme with a temperate map), then it's pretty easy. Just go to the main menu and click Load Save. Then on the right under the picture of your city, you can set a map theme. Pick the one you want and click load. Once you save the city, it will remember the map theme.

If you want to use a map theme that doesn't match the map type, like a tropical map theme for a temperate map, then you will need the Environment Changer Mod. Subscribe to the mod, enable it and restart the game. Then go to load your save as above and pick the theme you want. :)

Commercial and industry work even if their workers are at home, so in that regard it doesn't really make a difference. But when it comes to delivering goods in time, it does matter. A commercial building that runs out of goods will shut down until it gets new goods, and in that time you won't receive tax revenue. The same goes for industry - both getting resources and emptying their internal storage fast enough.

Both have a time frame that this can happen within as they send out requests before being empty. As long as trucks make the timer, there isn't a problem. Having it be much faster than the timer doesn't really do anything - other than ofc mean you have fewer vehicles on the roads, which tends to mean a smoother running city.

Are you using the -force-d3d9 launch option already? If not, try using that as your graphics card might be struggling. (If you're on Mac, you will need to use -force-glcore instead).

Seeing your output log would help determine what's happening. Make sure to grab it after a freeze/crash.

Here's where to find the log depending on your operating system. To easily find the local files for the game, right click your game in the Steam library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab and select Browse local files.

Windows
\SteamApps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt

Mac OS X
Users//Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Colossal Order/Cities: Skylines/Player.log

As we can't attach files here on Steam, you will need to upload the file somewhere else. Here's a few sites you can upload it to, which do not require you to sign up first:

As far as I know the game picks one track that connects to the outside and it isn't always a specific one. It can be any of them. Try can connect all of them to the outside and see which one receives intercity trains.

Every Tuesday between 1-3 PM Pacific Time Steam performs maintenance on the servers, so they don't always work as they should in that time frame. :)

Try adding the launch options -noWorkshop and -disableMods to Steam, then try loading and see if the asset editor works. You ofc won't see the buildings you want to edit, if they are workshop buildings, but this is just to test if it works like it should.

Make sure you have # in front of the line numbers. It came up recently in this thread that having the # makes a difference.

You're getting an error from Configurable Transport Capacity, which over 5 years old, so likely not working correctly anymore. Definitely unsubscribe it.

If you're having errors, the best way for us to help is to see the output log (called player.log on Mac and Linux).

What's your education coverage for elementry schools and high schools? Do you have the School's Out policy enabled anywhere?

Citizens need to have gone to elementry school to be able to have any higher education. So if a kid never went to elemetry school, they can't go to high school later. And if someone didn't go to high school, they can't attend a university. So when you have the number of uneducated citizens rise, it sounds like a problem somewhere with elementry schools.

It's also important for us to know if you're using any mods from the workshop, as a broken mod could also be interfering with how things work.

I think I get what you're looking for. You'd like a better way to connect the highway. This part circled in this screenshot is what you're not happy with yes?

I would use the wider avenue road like you have at the opposite side. It will give you more space to have the highways connect in a way that looks more natural and adds some symmetry to your intersection.

Something along these lines: https://i.imgur.com/Ekds5PB.jpg

Check your policies for both the city and the districts to make sure you don't accidentally have the Free Public Transport policy enabled.

It happens occationally when the files that store the information of what's enabled get corrupted and/or deleted. That's something that seems to happen occationally when having high memory usage and quitting the game. The file gets saved at that point, but it doesn't save correctly, so it's at 0kb, which makes the operating system delete it.

The Instant Return to Desktop mod seems to help avoid it, as it changes how the game shuts down.

Hi and welcome! :D

Your traffic actually looks pretty good. 89% traffic flow and no areas that light up badly with red. It's okay for some intersections to be busy as long as traffic doesn't get "stuck" there too long.

To back up your saves just make a copy of the files and keep them somewhere. The save files are found here: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Saves

As for mods, you can also copy all the mods and assets from the workshop folder, but those subscriptions are tied to your Steam account, so if you log in with the same account on another computer, it will download those files. Then you just need to enable everything.

Workshop content is stored here, though the path may vary a little depending on where your Steam is installed.
