Welcome to update 3.0 and Season 3 on PC. This update contains the new Weather Variations, more shilling and new premium cosmetics to Lohner’s Emporium of Wonder, and of course, the new career for Markus Kruber (or should we sway, Markus de Mandelot), the Grail Knight. The Weaves have been reshuffled and Season 2 rewards are no longer available. Oh, and we also added three Wind’s Mutators to Twitch Mode!
Rain, snow, or maybe fog? All missions with outdoor set...
Read moreThe AIM is to get it out the door around lunchtime in Europe. But as per the holiest of bits of advice I’ve seen around the internet over the years, never book time off for a game/content release!
We didn’t open up a ‘test application’ for this. We hand picked a selection of players from all walks of life, and asked them to try out the Grail Knight and give feedback on both how we might package it up for players, and what it feels like to play. This is pretty normal for any game development, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise, hopefully, that ‘Game Dev asks some players to test content’.
What we learned from WOM was that we should test with time to react to feedback, and we should avoid some kind of super-secret-test-group-within-a-larger-test-group type thing.
He may ship a bit over or underpowered, it’s hard to fully determine until it gets in to the hands of the masses. At which point we will be sure to adjust quite quickly to get him in to the right spot. We have had some closed testing of the Grail Knight with a team of testers so we’re not sending out untested content, but we’ll have to see
Things can become more aparent when you get thousands of players playing something, as opposed to smaller test groups.
Quite right, but that doesn’t speak to them all, in fact it speaks for a minority of threads. We do kill a thread from time to time if we can outright say something will unequivocally never happen. But it’s rare we’ll ever say never. But we have done it.
Invest more time in blog posts, even mundane things just to show you guys live.
We don’t have plans to stop the dev updates. They will come and go, hopefully less off weeks than on. But it’s just not always possible to get something that is well received. Right now it’s approaching summer, so there will be less going on in the “office”, an...
Read moreIt’s a tricky one. So we do have a bunch of devs here, of course, but they’re not here to comment. They’re here to stalk and lurk. As for my involvement in feedback, it’s a risky one. First and foremost, you guys all know infinitely more about the nuances of Vermintide 2 than I ever could. So my input would be laughable. That said, when a developer or CM does input in feedback, it usually either derails a thread entirely, or kills a thread entirely. As such, we (I) typically l...

New ones for now, but we love what they did and I believe they want to add it to all the weapons
Know what about Mordin?
Even the irrepressably jovial Bardin becoming a slayer is pretty weird.
It kind of breaks my heart. He's such a good boi.
Anyone else feel 10 USD is a bit high for the "full" package including challenges?
Comparison is WoM which was 20 USD and had a lot of content (albeit not the best quality of content on release). 5 new weapons plus illusions, around a couple dozen distinct maps with different modifiers, a new crafting system, leaderboards (which aren't necessarily desired), and all the challenges and weapon skins.
Back to Ubersreik was also 10 USD, and offered 3 full maps and a challenge map, 5 new weapons with 2 unlockable skins each, and a bunch of challenges.
For 10 USD we'd only be getting a career and one weapon (which they themselves priced at 4 USD), meaning 6 USD for a couple skins (probably just recolours), a couple helmets, and a couple weapon illusions, along with a few in game achievements.
I'm not sure it matches up in terms of value. I'd spend a couple extra dollars for the extra skins and such, to support them, but I feel 10 is a bit excessive compa...
$3.99 gets you all the gameplay. It's the one you'll want to pick up if you're here for the moment to moment combat. The upgrade/bundle is very much an optional purchase for those who just really wanna have a more ostentatious hat, or more regal colourway, some themed paintings or alternate illusions.
Thanks for clearing that up Hedge. Are there plans for more weapons for Grail Knight in the future? Maybe a thrown weapon?
It's not impossible! Nothing in the pipeline though. The kind of thing we'll look in to once folks get some gameplay and talk about what might be cool. :)
Still not clear if bretonnian krubs is like slayer in having only melee weapons or not. We know the Bretonnian navy uses a lot of gunpowder but its apparently below most knights. Still we could also see Kruber making concessions to the now non-negligible Imperial blood he has to still use guns and a bow (would be nice to have the bow no longer be exclusive to hunstman, tbqh)
No ranged weaponary planned for GK. Much like he turns his back to a pole or halberd, he would shun ranged also.
3.99 for the full career, there is another pack (didn't catch the price fast enough, I think it was 9.99) but you get extra cosmetics and skins basically on top of the career itself)
3.99 for the base career DLC. This is the new Kruber career and his base skins. All the talents and abilities, basic weapon set.
There is an upgrade available via a bundle, too. It's a bunch more cosmetic option, available through challenges and I think the emporium as well.
The whole bundle costs 9.99 if purchesed upfront as a package. It's possible to upgrade later, but I think it comes out a buck or two more expensive than the 'all in one' bundle.
These things still happened. His history hasn’t been erased, but rather more distant lineage has been exposed.
By spending tons of time fleshing out a character to the level of the original 5, getting voice acting done for unique interactions with the original 5, creating 2 more careers so that they would have 3 like the others, etc etc...
I mean yeah in an ideal that would be better, but it would also probably mean that fatshark wouldn’t even consider doing it at all due to costs. I like it better this way, because it’s still actual content.
We could do it, but it would take ages, and cost a fortune to make, and as such we'd ask for more than anyone would pay, just to even attempt to break even.
Adding a new hero is so much more than just the hero, but every interaction any of the U5 have with that hero, across all maps, careers, etc. Yuge.
So, you're basically saying that when the update drops, i'll already have some of these Shillings?
Yep.
