Was Mod Camel not talking to iron communities on Discord recently about this? What came of the insights gleaned?

Yup, Camel was indeed checking in and ran a few very informal polls just to get an insight into where the IM community (in that particular space) landed on the issues he presented. The answer I got from looking at those responses was "We need to ask broadly." The answers were surprising to me personally, and so I want us to get a clearer, more cohesive understanding of the Ironman community's stance so we know, looking ahead, where we stand on topics like the ones Camel put forward.

It's something I'm still working on with the team, it's not been forgotten or overlooked. Continuing to push the topic and explore our options, and I'm still very keen to get insight and guidance from the Ironman community on proposals when we're ready.

Can we have a stream focusing on what Jagex are doing about Rite of Passage? The quest people have been asking about for an entire decade? Oh wait, no I just delayed it by another month.

Rite of Passage, I believe, was Mod Raven who is no longer part of the team. I'd love to have more lore-heavy and exploratory quests, of course, but I'm also conscious that quests that are very personal to specific Jmods (current or former) have to be done right to do them justice. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, of course, but Mod Jack has talked about this on a Design stream (in that instance, he was talking about the Gnome questline) and he spoke about the fact that previously quests were very personal projects that were written and designed typically by one member of the team.

I'd love more lore-heavy Morytania quests and explore even more of that spooky side of the Salve (which would also be a reason to give that area a morbid and macabre makeover) but I don't even know where I'd START with making a quest myself. I love the idea of Rite of Passage as a quest though, so I do hope we see it one day!

My fear of spiders validated yet again!

Holding food is hard when you're dead, just ask Death! That apple's just been sitting there for years.

Flagged this up with the team! Thanks for letting us know.

Edit: 15:30 Game Time 18/9/23 - Hotfix for this has been deployed!

Keep familiar on death.

This one came up a lot on the Community Hitlist Survey - I'm hoping we can take a look into this one, or at least if not, get insight into why not.

I am deeply concerned about the ramifications of these changes on free-to-play combat and the potential negative impact they may have on new players. While I understand that the free game serves as a taste of the full RuneScape experience, it is crucial to recognize that it is in the free-to-play version where most players embark on their RuneScape journey.

While making slight adjustments to monster stats might offer some improvement, I remain skeptical about whether this alone will lead to a sustainable solution. The current system appears to heavily prioritize reducing XP rates for higher level players, inadvertently overlooking the challenges faced by low level players and those with subpar gear for their level.

It is imperative that we consider the overall balance and accessibility of the free-to-play combat experience, ensuring that all players, regardless of their level or equipment, have an enjoyable and fair gameplay experience.

Can't say I disagree with any of that - I think we can all agree that it's inadvisable to get into combat with underlevelled gear, that's a recipe for disaster not just in RuneScape but in general, but that's only a part of the equation.

Hey, a similar post has just shown up and I'm looking into that one. So I'm reading this correctly, upwards of Turoth (to Corrupted Workers), monsters are hitting less hard than Basilisks and Jellies? Will flag it up as something to take an iterative second swing at potentially.

I'll ask the same thing there, then. More info is always helpful. Thanks!

Hey - I'm happy to forward this feedback onto the team.
Mod Sponge and I chatted about this a little bit (but he's on holiday atm) so we'd love to take a look into this. Can I grab your RSN, and which mobs you've been having issues with? You've mentioned Grotworms and Ghouls, anything else? Can I also check what gear and levels you're using? Just want to make sure I'm giving the team all the info so they can get a clearer picture. Thanks so much in advance!

I really do appreciate all the communication regardless of if anything has changed regarding the progress toward proposed changes.

I was more pointing out that you can never make reddit 100% happy. Thanks for trying!

Well, I'd love to reach a point where everytime we communicate we've got new things to share. We'll get there, I hope! Have a great weekend.

Wow, what a coincidence! Would be cool to do something for one of the next pieces of the development update or something like that. Will add that to the list of ideas to explore!

Well, the good news is that now I know how to do it, I'll be chipping away at bringing those articles in line so they fit that criteria and are filed correctly!

jagex: ok well give you communication "we are continuing to work on our fixes that we said we were going to do last post."

redditors: "this is worthless"

There was an eagerness from the Leadership Team that we maintain a cadence of update posts on Fridays (which I feel we started a trend with by putting out Necromancy updates!), so there was a desire there to remind players that the topic is still absolutely front of mind and work is still ongoing.

The leadership team had to stay late to write that.

And someone had to stay and HTML it up and post it, too!

Howdy! Mod Spear has been away for a few weeks so streams have been on hold - unfortunately that may be the case for the whole of September. I'm hoping that we can get back into the swing of things sooner because, as you've said, streams are one of the things I'm a fan of doing!

Mod Bam and I were brainstorming the idea of sitting down with the Art team and talking through the creative process behind things like the Zamorakian Undercity and Game Jams with Mod Blkwitch, the City of Um with Mod Bak, Mod Dragon's character work and the like. I'd like to get more insights into the team's awesome work and the processes behind them! Could expand that out to things like Mod Ramen's work on the Violet questline, who knows? Wanna throw myself into more in-studio streams when I get the chance.
