Is there going to be a virtual Runefest this year?
There will not be, unfortunately. We will be hosting the Golden Gnome awards though.
So what I understood, next Data Stream will likely be early next year, around 20th Anniversary.
We'd likely next want to do one to do with our 20th anniversary, but it's not confirmed as of yet.
Careful. Don't make promises you can't keep. That's a lot of updates and less than half the year remaining. Runefest 2020 is gonna be half made up of updates missed from Runefest 2019.
Regardless, this stream confirmed for me that you guys have lost my membership. I'm done with RS3. This stream was the straw that broke my back.
None of this is targeted at you JD; just disappointed in the company as a whole.
No offence taken - just curious more than anything else: what in particular was it in the stream that made you want to not renew your membership?
Is there any details you can give on the boss atm? Low/mid/high level? Solo/group?
I believe/u/jagexosborne mentioned something on a similar difficulty level to Araxxor. I don't want to quote him on that, though.
Just to confirm, this new Boss is a new announcement unrelated to gwd3, or just gwd3 itself?
This is unrelated.
Forgive me for being skeptical but that's more updates than we've had in the last eight months and I'm having a hard time believing we'll get all of this within the next 4 - especially given previous delays and what appears to be constantly restructured teams.
That's fine to be skeptical - I can understand that. What we have done though is freed up a lot of dev time from XL projects (not forgetting Archaeology and it's post-launch support took us into early May) to work on these slightly smaller projects, giving us more flexibility.
Obviously the proof is in the pudding, but the initial signs look good.
I remember GWD3 being teased as well and also saying it was in the works, now its delayed to 2021 lol.
We've had to adapt to new circumstances, unfortunately, and if we'd carried on focusing a significant amount of dev time on an XL project like EGWD, it's likely a lot of the content listed above (a mix of Small, Medium and Large content) wouldn't have happened. We hope this is a suitable compromise.
THANK GOD the fairly predictable cadence of DXP, Yak Track and
money grabtime-limited events will continue. I'm urgently in need of something to spend all these bonds on.There's still a third of this year left and Warden is already trying to sell us 2021 with a 20th anniversary - and the supposed updates that it'll bring.
The content we talked about in the stream is all planned for the rest of the year:
- September update(s) - which we'll talk about in the next couple of weeks
- Orthen Digsite (October)
- Construction Update
- New Boss
- New Quest (not on the scale of Desperate Measures, but not insignificant either)
- Many Ninja Strikes
(as well as Yak Track/DXP)
Rue and Newton are my two favourites. Great to see them both featured!
Amazing level of detail. Great job!
Amazing level of detail - great job!
This is stunning. Great job!
Jagex held up their end and I'm holding up mine. I hereby rescind my negative opinions regarding the RS3 side of Jagex. Clearly if you were willing to make a gesture like this just to get me to do a dumb thing for people, welp, clearly you have some good intent. You proved you care and that's enough for me. Kudos!
(A drink was made instead of food as another member of the household needed to make use of the lone vehicle we have, so I had to improvise. Yes, it was vile and the solid bits were like a horrid black ichor. There was a horrible aftertaste to an otherwise good drink and it was a cruel few minutes.)

Aaaah, nothing like a nice cuppa tea!
It's a shame that there's no livestream this week. RS3's team struggles to do more than 1 Q&A a month. Meanwhile OSRS is planning on doing their
3rd4th this month tomorrow.
I would say, to be fair, we have been running two streams a week most weeks since April. They're not all Q&A streams, but we hope they offer some kind of insight into what's going on as well as providing entertainment value!
Love this. Great work, /u/suizzyowl!
Amazing work!
This is amazing.
Congratulations!
Text scaling is something we're looking into, but it's a significantly bigger job than interface scaling. We're investigating at present!
