Assuming that I managed to locate the correct account, it looks like the account was banned for macroing at Vyres.

I'm not available to really check further, so whether that's due to the account being hijacked, sold or account shared with someone who macro'd I wouldn't know.

I definitely would have been updating my account security the minute I'd seen I was banned though. First thought should always be to secure your account.

Your ban is correct. The offence on your account was applied for botting at Scurrius, not for using a VPN abroad.

I would not recommend risking your account by botting such a trivial boss.

VPN usage alone does not result in a ban.

I'd need a display name of one of them to take a look

You have multiple warnings for purchasing gold, ignored them and were permanently banned for it. At quick glance, that seems to be the reason for your ban.

My Ironman “Lil Twid” recently received a permanent ban. This account is attached to my Jagex account, but my I’ve noticed strange activity on multiple accounts attached to my Jagex Account and I believe it has been compromised. If you could check the account it would mean a lot to me. If you find that what I’m saying about it being compromised is indeed true, could you please appeal the ban and lock the account until I’m able to figure out what to do next? Thank you so much for your time.

I can recommend a few steps, although most are outlined on our website so it's more of a personal recommendation.

Someone constantly attempting to reset your password would push me towards believing that they have or have had e-mail access in the past. Keeping it somewhat in the order of what I recommend, I'd do the following if it were my account.

For whichever e-mail provider you use, I would Google "inbox rules" and make sure you have none enabled on your e-mail account. I would then look at e-mail forwarding and make sure that there are none you do not recognize. Hijackers tend to apply one of the two mentioned above as it means that they can still technically access your e-mails without having access to your e-mail account.

Once you've confirmed that none of the above are true, I would log into your account on the Runescape website and look at "linked accounts". Make sure there are none there that you do not recognize. People link Google or Steam accoun...

Can you look into RSN: joelser

It was hijacked/banned, and I have been trying to recover it for almost 5 months now without ever a direct response. I was inactive for about a year and when all of my friends got back into OSRS, that's when I tried to login and noticed my email had been compromised, 2FA removed, email changed, etc. I understand my account's security is my ownership and fault. But I'm still trying.

I would very much appreciate some sort of confirmed "Doesnt matter you were hacked, you are permanently banned" so I can finally give this a rest. I've already created a new account, but it's just not the same feeling as my original account from 15+ years ago...

Thanks in advance if you do look at it.

There isn't a ban on that account, it was removed a while ago by the looks of things.

They obviously keep their cards closed because they are already fighting an impossible battle. Any information given to us goes right to the botters as well and makes the challenge even harder.

Thank you.

I have historically provided some insight into the number of accounts we ban when I'm not too busy.

449,528 accounts were banned (permanently for macroing) in the last 30 days, for example.

Bit late of a reply, but if I haven't already banned it I'll take a look cheers.

You're in an invite-only game of chance community that you actively gamble with and have done for quite a while.

Quoted from https://www.jagex.com/en-GB/terms/rules-of-old-school-runescape

GAMES OF CHANCE

You must not advertise, organise, promote, or take part in any games of chance. Games of chance are games that depend more on luck than skill, they are mostly games that people bet on. For example, situations where in-game Gold (GP) or items are traded with the promise that you will receive additional in-game Gold (GP) or items in return, if you correctly guess the outcome or result of the game being offered.

In addition, the fact that ...

Just hazarding a guess but because you're using the same e-mail address, the hijacker probably tried to log in and got an incorrect password message.

They likely thought that you didn't realize that you had removed the inbox rule from your e-mail account and tried to use it to send themselves a reset.

If you have any doubts about the safety of your account because of the e-mail I'd recommend setting up a new e-mail address dedicated to Runescape and put two-factor on it.

Great job reading into inbox rules though as they're quite commonly used and a lot of people don't realize this or even know they exist.

Looking internally on a wider scale. Edited original comment to reflect that as you are correct and there are indeed a lot of comments.
