This is definitely important to highlight. How it was framed to me is that due to the fact that you can easily get spotted in smoke when firing, the smoke can be used more for emergency getaways and large turns that leave you exposed. I tend to favor gunboats over torpboats anyways, so I wasn't in the mind to get close and smoke up anyways.

This is really good advice that a few people have shared with me, actually. PT seems to be a really good thing to take for someone who is starting out (like me). As people continue to learn and grow, it obviously will become less important to take. But for now, it does seem to be useful!

Agreed! I learned so much about the use of SAP by simply analyzing armor schemes at the tiers I am focusing on. Don't get me wrong, it is a lot to remember. But there are still some general use tips that can be applied at large once you understand how your armor and the armor of your competitors works.

Yup, this is exactly my strategy as of now. I am not doing anyone any favors by playing at higher tiers when I don't know the strategies to do so. I'm enjoying broadening my horizons in the middle tiers quite a bit.

I just wanted to let you know that due to me taking a mini vacation, there will not be a new entry in the New Player Captain's Log today, 5/31. I haven't had a sufficient amount of time to play the game and thus I won't have much to share.

However, I did want to create a thread just in case any other new players (or experienced players, for that matter) wanted a space to be able to discuss their weekly experiences, ask questions or just have some lighthearted discussions!

Can't wait to be back with y'all next week! Until then, fair winds and following seas!

Thank you so much! This is very kind of you to say, and something that I didn't anticipate when I first came up with this idea. My original idea was to create a place for new players (like me) to discuss their experience/growing pains with players who know and have been there. However, it seems to have been very insightful for my fellow team members as well, as we are trying to make the game as enjoyable as possible for players of all skill levels.

I agree! I tend to enjoy this ship, but I was unsure if it was because I was finding more success at lower tiers or if it was actually enjoyable to play. That's the struggle with these lower tier ships. I'm feeling a little validated by this though!

Not at the moment, no. But it will be an interesting idea to keep in mind for the future once I am at that point.

These are WONDERFUL tips, actually. I have found that my most devastating games in French BBs so far have been when I have been victorious in more close-to-mid range combat. I'll be sure to focus on adjusting my aim in the future to focus more on pens.

I've been told the higher tier French BBs are very interesting and potentially very fun, so I am excited to keep growing to a point where I can use them!

I like how you broke this down, honestly. I think it is very easy for new players to get overwhelmed with the size of the map and where to go and who to shoot. If we have a few simple choices from the outset that can really clear things up.

There’s a lot of similar things to last few weeks, but nonetheless, here’s a list of personal milestones that I hit during the week:

1. Played the German and French BB lines in Tiers 5-6
2. Played the Italian Cruiser line at Tier 4

Focus Points of the Week
Same refrain from previous weeks: my focus points for this week are largely the same, as I still want to put a lot of time into my play in lower to mid tiers before I move on to tackling higher tier play:

1. Continued exploration of the French BB line and Italian Cruiser line
2. Development of strategy and skills in low to mid tiers.

I think I remember @Boggzytalking about some big gun sounds related to some Tier X battleship. I wonder if it was the GK? Might have been the Incomparable.
