Thank you for the reply, although I am very curious how Mod Hooli can stop all Jmods including content developers, executive producer like Mod Keeper, and such from communicating with the media and playerbase, especially when he seemed to be one of the most enthusiastic Jmods to stream JvM weekly content and disappeared without notice.

Mod Hooli didn't stop anyone. Are you creating a new story? :)
Read my first message here please.

Greetings,
Yes, the spooky blindfold will be added to the H'oddments store when it returns this autumn.

Miva, I'm not upset at all. Im trying to understand why yall did what you did because you didnt communicate anything.

This response of yours:

Would you prefer to have just one item without the opportunity to choose, if I may ask? Personally, I believe that by making both versions available rather than just one, we fulfilled a demand from many players.

Is exactly what I was looking for, and is a perfectly reasonable explanation for why individual retros are released. You just need to communicate that from the get go, along with the bundle discount for people who bought the individuals, so it doesnt look like just another bait and switch.

You said you studied teaching in uni, so I'm sure you remember how important the who, what, when, where and WHY are to effective communication.

I do agree with a lot of the comments made in this thread. We must be more specific in our newsposts.

I don't have an answer. But I'll share this idea with the others.

We are a team, yes.

I'm not trying to be mean, but you sound like every manager I've ever had that talks to customers like they're children, lol.

"Wow! What an interesting way of thinking! Did you come up with that yourself?"

Yes, I think you are right. I often become aware of that. In fact, it might be because teaching is what I studied in university.

The department head

When you wrote "the department head", do you mean Mod Keeper, or somebody higher up and in that case who is that person, or his job title please?

I referred to Mod Hooli.

It'd be cool to see something like "a day in the life" or "meet the jmods" type of video series, show what a typical day involves for various departments/positions, so we would have a better idea of that kind of stuff.

That's a really good idea. Although videos are the most effective format for that kind of content, I believe it will be somewhat difficult given that most of the time we work from home.

No we would prefer to have the bundle that we were told about, or some form of communication to tell us otherwise.

Seriously, and looking at your other responses, how are you this damn tone deaf??

And once the bundle is ready, you will get a full bundle.
We simply assumed that players would want to have a new retro override (yes, a single item) as soon as it is available as we have already shown you some concept art. I'll pass this feedback along if you'd like to wait until the entire bundle is ready.
I truly am doing my best to explain everything I can. It is not true to say "I am tone deaf."

You didnt answer about this "test", though, if you would clarify.

What test are you currently performing by releasing this pack separately, and how do you hope to interpret the results?

Again, and as you acknowledged, you already performed a test using the poll, and, as you say, the results were that people wanted both.

So what data are you tracking by releasing dscim variants separately, and how do you hope to use the information?

In one of the comments here, I defined what I meant by "test."
Our process was approached as a "test": obtaining feedback from players on their preferences on each step and then releasing both options instead of one. Are you upset because we genuinely made an effort to understand what the community wanted?

Whether it would reduce negativity or not, that is debatable.

Separating/merging these 2 statements is what caused the confusion here, I'd say

I agree that adding developers' comments or any other comments to explain any changes is a good idea.
"That's an interesting point of view" — was a compliment. I didn't foresee it would lead to a lengthy conversation.

A test, for 5€? What is the full bundle going to cost us then? It is ridiculous that we have to spend this amount of cash (or ingame money, but bonds are 70m already) for just 1 override that you just said is a “test”. If you really want to know how well this will be received, make it free or available for oddments.

Also, the profits are higher by them being standalones, so it seems rather obvious why the bundle would be delayed. There being absolutely no mention of the situation just makes it seem even more like the team was told to maximize profits from this.

The bundle could've easily been made available still, with a note saying not all items are available right away and will be added.

I'm not sure whether I can change your mind. It is a side project that we intended to be entertaining and engaging for the community. We truly wanted to make overrides that the community will enjoy. And fortunately, there are a lot of supportive opinions there.
We will release new overrides soon, probably one by one, and those who want to purchase a full bundle at once can do so when all items are released. Others who purchased the bundle's individual items will receive a discount.

That's been one of my biggest shortcomings with the current communications - players have to chase around a bunch of different social media sites to get answers/news from Jagex, rather than seeing everything neatly conveyed on the RS site. For folks like myself who generally have very few opportunities to go sifting through a bunch of different threads to find stuff, a clean summary in one expected place each time info is released would be stellar.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to so many folks' threads today, Miva! It's greatly appreciated.

Yes, I agree, having it on our website would be excellent. But players typically make those lists far more quickly than we would do.

How does this test work when the pack gives both variants...?

And didnt you guys already test which people prefer with your "which variation of dragon scim would you prefer" poll a month ago?

There's a mountain of precedence to assume this is just a way to squeeze more money, especially when you dont make this clear in the new post:

We still intend to release all overrides as a complete bundle. However, we may release single items along the way.

I'm sure some people wouldnt be wasting money on the standalone if they knew!

We decided to give both because the opinion was split. And we worked on both of them. While polls show that many players prefer a "true retro style," the other half praised the newer version. Players who purchase both this and the final bundle will receive a discount on their purchases.
